- GOP Senators Call Trump’s Potential Rescheduling a Game Changer | Toker's Guide
Several GOP senators tell Marijuana Moment that, if President Donald Trump ultimately moves forward with marijuana rescheduling, it would be a “game changer” for future federal cannabis reform. < Back GOP Senators Call Trump’s Potential Rescheduling a Game Changer Oct 7, 2025 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link It looks like the GOP is finally waking up to the reality of cannabis reform, and they’re pointing toward the White House for the next big move. Several Republican senators, including Lisa Murkowski and Kevin Cramer, are calling a potential shift to Schedule III a total "game changer." They believe that if Donald Trump follows through on his campaign hints to reschedule, it could break the long-standing legislative gridlock and pull more conservative colleagues toward supporting sensible policies like banking access. While some remain cautious about full-scale legalization, the consensus is that federal movement would create a massive "domino effect." For everyday tokers, this is huge. Rescheduling doesn’t just change a label; it legitimatizes the culture, opens the door for better research, and makes it much harder for the feds to ignore the successful state markets we already love. It’s a sign that the "suit and tie" side of politics is finally catching up to the community, potentially making our favorite plant more accessible and protected than ever before. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. - New Bipartisan Bill Would Let Cannabis Companies List on Major Stock Exchanges Like Nasdaq and NYSE | Toker's Guide
A bipartisan congressional bill called the CLIMB Act has been introduced to allow marijuana businesses to list on major U.S. stock exchanges and protect service providers from federal penalties. The legislation aims to expand financial lending and investment opportunities for the cannabis industry while providing safe harbor for national securities exchanges. < Back New Bipartisan Bill Would Let Cannabis Companies List on Major Stock Exchanges Like Nasdaq and NYSE Mar 19, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The CLIMB Act is making another run through Congress, and it could be a game-changer for how our favorite cannabis brands operate. This bipartisan bill aims to let marijuana companies list on major stock exchanges like the NYSE and Nasdaq, finally giving them a seat at the big table on Wall Street. Beyond just stocks, it creates a safe harbor for the essential services these businesses need—everything from accounting and insurance to advertising and legal aid—protecting those providers from federal backlash. While we're still waiting on federal rescheduling to cross the finish line, this legislation tackles the "green tape" that keeps the industry in a financial chokehold. For the average toker, this matters because more investment and better business protections mean more stable, professional, and accessible dispensaries. When cannabis companies can bank and trade like normal businesses, the savings and innovation eventually trickle down to the quality and variety on the shelves. It’s about time the industry was treated with the legitimacy it deserves, and this bill is a massive step toward that reality. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. - New Utah Bill Would Decriminalize Low-Level Cannabis Possession | Toker's Guide
A Utah lawmaker filed HB 253 for the 2026 session to decriminalize marijuana, proposing to reduce the penalty for a first offense of possessing up to 14 grams of cannabis to a civil infraction with a fine up to $750, removing the threat of jail time. The bill is supported by advocates who note current Utah law allows for jail time for minor possession, though the state already has a growing medical cannabis program and authorized a psychedelics pilot program in 2024. < Back New Utah Bill Would Decriminalize Low-Level Cannabis Possession Jan 27, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Utah might finally be moving toward a more common-sense approach to cannabis. Representative Grant Amjad Miller has officially filed HB 253, a bill designed to decriminalize low-level possession for the 2026 session. Currently, the Beehive State is one of the few places where a single joint can still lead to a jail sentence—a reality that feels seriously outdated. This new legislation proposes that first-time offenders caught with up to 14 grams of weed would face a civil infraction and a $750 fine rather than time behind bars. While that is still a pricey ticket, it is a major victory for keeping regular folks out of the criminal justice system. Even with a thriving medical program of over 100,000 patients, Utah’s broader laws haven't quite caught up to the community's needs. This shift matters because it replaces life-altering penalties with manageable fines, proving that the state is slowly recognizing that responsible use should not be a crime. It is a vital step toward protecting the community and ending the era of unnecessary incarceration for herb. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. - Florida Revokes Medical Cannabis Cards from Those with Drug Convictions | Toker's Guide
Florida medical marijuana officials are revoking registrations from patients and caregivers with drug-related criminal records, a policy enacted by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The state's Office of Medical Marijuana Use has already identified 20 individuals for revocation and is monitoring 140 others. The law targets those convicted of or pleading guilty to trafficking, sale, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to sell controlled substances. It also outlines a process for reinstatement. While efforts to expand the medical cannabis program failed, a new cannabis legalization initiative is aiming for the 2026 ballot, with strong voter support despite opposition from DeSantis and conflicting poll results. Separately, a state senator has filed bills to protect the employment and parental rights of medical marijuana patients. < Back Florida Revokes Medical Cannabis Cards from Those with Drug Convictions Oct 16, 2025 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Florida’s medical marijuana program is facing a major shake-up as officials begin revoking registrations for patients and caregivers with specific drug-related criminal records. This crackdown, fueled by legislation signed by Governor DeSantis, targets individuals involved in the manufacture or distribution of controlled substances. So far, dozens of licenses have been pulled or are under review. While the law allows for a reinstatement process after completing sentencing requirements, it adds a frustrating layer of bureaucracy for those relying on plant medicine. This is a tough blow for the community, as it further stigmatizes individuals who have already navigated the legal system and now just want safe, legal access to their medicine. For regular tokers, this underscores the importance of the 2026 legalization push, which is gaining serious momentum despite political pushback. Ensuring broad access without these restrictive hurdles is vital for a fair industry. We need a system that prioritizes patient wellness over old-school punitive measures, making cannabis truly accessible for everyone who needs it. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. - The FDA is finally cutting CBD some slack, but it’s time for Congress to step up and make the rules official. | Toker's Guide
The FDAs decision to exercise enforcement discretion for certain CBD products is a positive step toward recognizing their role in wellness, but it remains a limited solution that lacks the stability of full regulation. To ensure consumer safety and market growth, Congress must establish a comprehensive federal framework with consistent standards for the hemp-derived cannabinoid industry. < Back The FDA is finally cutting CBD some slack, but it’s time for Congress to step up and make the rules official. Apr 15, 2026 Source: Marijuana Moment Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The federal government is finally acknowledging that hemp-derived cannabinoids are a staple in the daily wellness routines of millions of Americans. In a fresh move, the FDA has signaled a policy of enforcement discretion for certain orally administered CBD products. This basically means they aren’t looking to crack down on high-quality, supplement-style CBD—provided it hits specific safety and labeling marks. For the everyday enthusiast, this is a huge nod toward normalizing the plant-based relief we already know and love. However, there’s a bit of a catch. This isn’t a green light for the entire market; it’s a narrow lane focused primarily on physician-directed care within healthcare programs like Medicare. While it’s awesome to see federal agencies talking about CBD in the same breath as vitamins and nutraceuticals, this selective "tolerance" isn't the same as a solid, permanent law. Without Congress stepping in to create a universal framework, the industry remains in a bit of a regulatory gray area. Why does this matter to you? Because currently, the market is a patchwork. Responsible brands that invest in rigorous lab testing and clear labeling are essentially competing with "bad actors" who cut corners. Real, comprehensive regulation would flush out the junk and ensure that every gummy or tincture you buy is safe, consistent, and accurately dosed. For now, the best move for any savvy user is to remain proactive. Always look for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to ensure your products are free of contaminants and have the cannabinoid profile promised on the label. This FDA shift is a solid step toward a future where plant-based wellness is treated with the same respect as anything else in your medicine cabinet, but the real destination is a clear federal standard that protects both consumers and the farmers who grow this incredible plant. We’re moving in the right direction, but we still need the folks in D.C. to finish the job! < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. - Scientists Map What Creates Distinct Cannabis Aromas and Flavors | Toker's Guide
A new study has identified dozens of previously unknown odor-active compounds in dried cannabis flowers, expanding scientific understanding beyond terpenes, CBD, and THC. Using a sensory-guided technique common in food science, researchers cataloged volatile compounds and found that only a small fraction contribute to overall aroma. They identified 52 odor-active compounds, including 38 never before reported in dried marijuana flowers. The findings suggest that aroma is a strong predictor of consumer appeal, which could inform future cannabis breeding efforts. The study, published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, also highlighted the significant contribution of sulfur-containing molecules to marijuana's scent. < Back Scientists Map What Creates Distinct Cannabis Aromas and Flavors Sep 18, 2025 Source: Aaron Houston Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Ever wonder why some buds smell like a bucket of movie theater popcorn while others have that unmistakable "sweaty gym sock" funk? For a long time, we’ve credited terpenes for everything, but new research is proving there’s a lot more to the story. Scientists recently used food-science techniques to identify 52 different compounds that create the cannabis aromatic profile—and 38 of them had never been spotted in dried flower before. This study reveals that while terpenes like myrcene are major players, things like sulfur molecules and esters are what really provide that heavy-hitting pungency and variety. This is massive news for the community because it moves us past the basic "THC vs. CBD" conversation and into a world where we can breed for specific, nuanced smells and effects. For everyday tokers, this means better quality control and more consistent sessions. As breeders start targeting these newly discovered odor-active compounds, we can look forward to a future of even more diverse, flavorful, and predictably potent cultivars on dispensary shelves. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. Dispensary Apr 25, 2025 Source: LJ Dawson Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link *Editor’s note: this article was originally published by The Outlaw Report and has been republished with permission.* U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Edward R. Martin Jr. has issued a letter to Green Theory, a licensed cannabis dispensary located at 4828 MacArthur Blvd., NW, expressing concern that its operation violates federal law due to its proximity to several area schools. Martin is know for defending (and attending speeches prior to) the Jan. 6 rioters accused of storming the U.S. Capitol. A POLITICO article referred to him as “a lawyer and longtime conservative activist.” President Donald J. Trump positioned Martin as temporary head of the U.S. attorney’s office for D.C. in January where he has been in charge of dismissing many of the defendants’ cases. In the letter, sent today, Martin stated his concern for the safety of children, noting that the dispensary appears to be operating within 1,000 feet of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, the River School, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School and Little Ivies preschool. He emphasized the existence of numerous federal laws, including the Controlled Substances Act, that govern and often prohibit the distribution and possession of cannabis. I am concerned that you are in violation of federal laws, which are intended to protect children. To that end, the need to address this issue is serious. – Excerpt from Martin’s letter It is unclear why Green Theory was targeted, as multiple licensed dispensaries are within 1000 ft of a school in D.C. Martin reminded Green Theory’s owners that the Department of Justice has the authority to enforce federal law even when activities are permitted under local regulations. He further warned that individuals and entities involved in operating or facilitating such dispensaries could face federal criminal prosecution and civil enforcement actions. The U.S. Attorney’s letter concluded by posing three specific questions to Green Theory’s owners regarding their awareness of federal law, whether they were in communication with federal law enforcement, and documentation of their compliance with federal regulations. A representative from Green Theory declined to comment at this time. The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration and Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office have not yet responded to request for comment on the implications of the letter on the overall cannabis market in the District. This follows controversy last year that was generated by a parent group called the “1000 Feet” group who publicly came after Green Theory after their formal protest to the dispensary failed with the ABC Board. *This is a breaking story, please check back for updates. * < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree.
