  • FDA Misses Deadline on Hemp Definitions, Drawing Cannabis Industry Criticism | Toker's Guide

The FDA missed a February 10 deadline to publish lists of known cannabinoids and define hemp containers, as required by recent appropriations legislation. This delay has prompted hemp stakeholders to call for a congressional extension of the current hemp policy before a new, more restrictive THC ban takes effect in November. < Back FDA Misses Deadline on Hemp Definitions, Drawing Cannabis Industry Criticism Feb 18, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The FDA just missed a major February deadline to clarify federal hemp rules, leaving the industry in a hazy spot. They were supposed to drop a list of known cannabinoids and officially define what counts as a product "container," but the clock ran out without a word. This technicality is actually a huge deal because a strict new THC ban is looming for November, which could effectively recriminalize many hemp-derived products we enjoy today. Stakeholders are now pushing Congress for an extension, arguing that the FDA’s foot-dragging proves there isn't enough time to build a fair regulatory system. From a community perspective, this is frustrating but typical. We need clear, science-based guidelines, not missed deadlines and sudden bans that threaten small businesses and consumer choice. For everyday tokers, this matters because it impacts the availability and legality of everything from CBD oils to hemp-derived edibles. Without a delay or better rules, your favorite local hemp shop could face a serious shutdown. Keeping the market accessible and safe requires transparency, and right now, the government is falling short. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. • Three Ways to Spice Up Your Summer Sesh | Toker's Guide

The text suggests three ways to enhance cannabis consumption: "Twax" a joint by adding hash oil, "Toast Up Some Treats" like marshmallows with a blowtorch, and "Veg Out (or Get Fruity)" by using hollowed-out fruits or vegetables as pipes. < Back Three Ways to Spice Up Your Summer Sesh Jul 16, 2025 Source: Laura Notini Cannabis Now Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Getting tired of the same routine? Looking to add a little something extra to toking at the usual toking time? With so many options available in some places and so few in others, cannabis can definitely inspire creativity starting with the ways that it can be consumed. Here are a few simple suggestions to get started: *1. **Twax** that Joint* Rolling something up for a smoke at home? While fine flowers are essential to any joint, wrapping it in hash oil will certainly give it an extra kick. Simply take some shatter, pull-and-snap BHO or rosin and roll it between your fingers into a long, thin snake form. Then beginning at the tip of the joint, wrap the snake around the doobie, almost like a candy cane. Keep in mind that the hash will make the joint burn longer, and will even drip if the snake is too thick for the joint. If the hash is something a bit stickier and can’t be manipulated into a roll, coating the outside paper of the joint in the oil using a dab tool to spread it then rolling it in kief is a great alternative. For something better for on-the-go, roll up the snake of hash oil before assembling the joint and lay it gently in the middle before it’s rolled up, or coat the inside of the paper before the weed goes in. *2. Toast Up Some Treats* A dabber is likely to already have a blowtorch in play. It may even be from the kitchen department of a not-weed-related store, which is a great tip-off that the flame is good for more than just heating up a nail. Crème brûlée seems like the obvious choice for torched treats, but it isn’t the easiest thing to just whip up in the kitchen. If the plan is dabbing and some warm munchies to go along with those terps, try marshmallows — no campfire required. Spear a marshmallow on a metal skewer, fire up the torch and apply a light roast. Toasted marshmallows make a perfect topping for a weed brownie or cookie and are also delicious all on their own! *3. Veg Out (or Get Fruity)* Any hollowed out fruit or vegetable with a solid outside has the potential to be a pipe! Pineapple, coconut, watermelon, even giant zucchinis — the key is to make a clean cut through the rind to remove the top of the produce, then to hollow out the inside as much as needed for airflow while still being able to replace the top to create an airtight seal. Then drill two holes — one for the bowl of the pipe and one for the mouthpiece (drill three for an optional carb). For some extra chill factor add ice to the inside of the fruit (but be mindful of the water as it melts) or stick the pipe in the freezer before passing around. Definitely also enjoy the watermelon chunks, coconut water or whatever remnants of the pipe remain as the new piece is smoked. *What fun smoking activities are you enjoying this summer? * The post Three Ways to Spice Up Your Summer Sesh appeared first on Cannabis Now. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. • Ohio Hemp Shops Hit Hard as New State Ban Shuts Down THC Gummies and Drinks | Toker's Guide

Ohio's 90-day ban on intoxicating hemp products, effective October 14, is causing significant concern among business owners and customers. The ban, announced by Gov. Mike DeWine, prohibits the sale of THC-containing hemp products outside of licensed marijuana dispensaries, impacting gas stations, smoke shops, and CBD stores. Business owners like Todd Hicks, Mark Fashian, and Collin Castore, who sell CBD products, wholesale hemp products, and THC-infused beverages, respectively, anticipate business closures, job losses, and significant revenue drops. They argue that their businesses card customers, target adults, and offer alternatives to alcohol and opioids. Many states already have regulations on intoxicating hemp products, and business owners express frustration with Ohio's anti-business stance on this issue. < Back Ohio Hemp Shops Hit Hard as New State Ban Shuts Down THC Gummies and Drinks Oct 14, 2025 Source: Marijuana Moment Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Ohio is officially cracking down on hemp, and the fallout is getting messy. Governor Mike DeWine recently signed an executive order that effectively bans "intoxicating" hemp-derived THC products from being sold anywhere except licensed cannabis dispensaries. Starting mid-October, your local smoke shops, gas stations, and CBD boutiques have to pull popular items like Delta-8 gummies and THC-infused seltzers off the shelves. Local entrepreneurs are sounding the alarm, fearing massive layoffs and shop closures as a significant chunk of their revenue vanishes overnight. Business owners argue they’ve been responsible, strictly carding customers and providing safe alternatives to alcohol or heavier meds. This is a major blow for accessibility. For many tokers, especially older adults or those in rural areas, these shops were a convenient way to find relief without the high prices or specific environment of a state-licensed dispensary. Taking away low-dose options like THC beverages also hurts people trying to ditch booze for a healthier lifestyle. It’s a classic case of over-regulation hitting the little guy and the community, rather than focusing on smart, fair industry standards. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. • Oklahoma Top Lawmakers Split on Governor’s Push to Repeal Medical Cannabis Law | Toker's Guide

    - Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has called for reevaluating and potentially shutting down the state's medical marijuana program, claiming voters were misled and citing public safety issues, foreign influence, and crime. - Senate President Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton supported reining in the program but said a full repeal would need another statewide vote to respect the will of the people. - Senate Minority Leader Julia Kirt opposes revisiting state questions, urging lawmakers to trust the people and implement the existing medical marijuana law correctly. - The lieutenant governor of the Chickasaw Nation, Chris Anoatubby, also expressed support for reforming the current cannabis law. < Back Oklahoma Top Lawmakers Split on Governor’s Push to Repeal Medical Cannabis Law Feb 3, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt is making waves after calling for a total shutdown of the state’s voter-approved medical marijuana program. During his State of the State address, Stitt claimed Oklahomans were misled back in 2018 and blamed the industry for increased crime and foreign influence. While some top Republicans are open to "reining in" the market, others insist that any major repeal must go back to the voters. On the other side, Democratic leaders are urging the government to actually implement the laws correctly instead of constantly trying to reverse the people's will. This is a massive deal for the community because it shows how quickly legal access can be threatened by political shifts. For tokers in Oklahoma, this isn't just about policy; it's about protecting a system that provides medicine and supports local businesses. When politicians try to "shut down" a program rather than fixing its regulatory gaps, it creates unnecessary chaos for patients who rely on consistent, safe access to their herb. • Maryland Senate Approves Medical Cannabis Use for Firefighters and First Responders Off Duty | Toker's Guide

A Maryland Senate panel approved SB 439, a bill that would protect firefighters and rescue workers from being penalized for off-duty medical marijuana use. If enacted, the legislation would prohibit employers from discriminating against these workers based on positive THC tests, though zero-tolerance policies for on-duty impairment would remain. < Back Maryland Senate Approves Medical Cannabis Use for Firefighters and First Responders Off Duty Mar 2, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Maryland senators are moving to protect the heroes who protect us. A Senate panel recently cleared SB 439, a bill designed to stop fire and rescue workers from being fired or disciplined just for using medical marijuana on their own time. While on-the-clock impairment is still a hard "no," this legislation ensures that those dealing with the high-stress demands of the job—like PTSD and chronic pain—can choose a natural alternative to heavy-duty prescription pills without losing their livelihoods. This is a massive win for common sense. For too long, the people running into burning buildings have been forced to choose between effective medicine and their careers due to outdated testing policies. By codifying these protections, Maryland is acknowledging that a positive test for metabolites doesn't equal being unfit for duty. For the broader community, it’s another sign that the "stoner" stigma is fading in professional spaces. When even first responders are granted the right to medicate safely, it paves the way for better employment protections for every toker. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. • Booze Business Sounds the Alarm: New Farm Bill Misses the Mark on Saving Hemp Drinks | Toker's Guide

The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America criticized the U.S. House for passing a Farm Bill that fails to address an upcoming federal ban on hemp THC products, advocating instead for a regulatory framework similar to the alcohol industry. The group and other stakeholders are urging the Senate to intervene before the November 2026 deadline to prevent pushing consumers toward unregulated markets. < Back Booze Business Sounds the Alarm: New Farm Bill Misses the Mark on Saving Hemp Drinks May 4, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The latest buzz around the Farm Bill has the alcohol industry stepping up to defend your favorite hemp-infused seltzers. The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) is calling out the U.S. House of Representatives for a major "missed opportunity" after they passed a version of the 2026 Farm Bill that completely ignores the looming federal ban on intoxicating hemp products. If the current language sticks, we’re looking at a massive crackdown this November. New rules would redefine hemp so strictly that any product with more than 0.4 milligrams of total THC per container would become illegal. This would effectively wipe out almost every hemp-derived gummy, beverage, and flower product currently available in shops and online. The alcohol folks, who know a thing or two about shifting from prohibition to regulation, argue that a flat-out ban is a recipe for disaster. They warn that instead of stopping use, it will just drive enthusiasts toward unregulated markets where there are no safety standards or age checks. They’re pushing for a system like the one used for booze: federal licensing, independent testing, and clear taxes that keep things safe and accessible for adults. This matters because it's about keeping the products you enjoy on the shelves and ensuring they are safe to consume. While the House dropped the ball, the fight moves to the Senate. Industry leaders and even some big-name retailers like Target—which has been finding success with hemp drinks—are hoping for a more sensible framework before the November deadline hits. Pro-tip for the community: Keep a close eye on the Senate's version of the bill over the next few months. If you’ve found relief or enjoyment through these hemp-derived options, now is a great time to support your local shops and maybe even drop a note to your representatives about why responsible regulation beats a total ban every time. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. The cannabis industry is abuzz over terpenes. Here are 10 things to know: Terpenes are everywhere and interact with cannabinoids. The terpene wheel exists. Terpenes change once dried and have been understated. You can buy terpenes in a bottle. Don’t look to THC percentages when choosing a strain. Feed your terps, flush your plants, and savor the flavor. < Back 10 Things to Know About Terpenes May 24, 2025 Source: Emery Garcia Cannabis Now Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The cannabis industry is abuzz over terpenes. Everyone in the know is claiming it’s “all about them terps brah,” but do you truly understand these magnificent compounds? Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about the intoxicating aromas of cannabis. 1. Terpenes Are Everywhere These wildly diverse organic compounds are produced by an array of plants and insects and exist abundantly in nature. From orange peels to pine resin, these powerful scents play a major role in our lives that we hardly ever consider. Their distinctive scents shine brightly in cannabis; from fruitiness to skunky, it’s all in the terpenes. 2. Terpenes Interact With Cannabinoids Additionally, they are understood to play a vital role in the plant’s effects on the brain. They can increase and decrease dopamine and serotonin production, speed up THC absorption, and alter our moods. Whichever dominant terpenes are produced in a particular plant make a huge difference in the resulting “high” when consumed. The differences between myrcene and limonene are not only in the scent but also in the psychological and physical effects on the plant and the human body. 3. There’s a “Terpene Wheel” The terpene wheel is similar to the color wheel, which at its core is composed of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy. Many cannabis strains will exhibit a multitude of these flavors before and after smoked or ingested. As you move farther out the wheel, flavors get more specific. *4. *Terpenes Change Once Dried Terpenes are volatile organic compounds that alter after a plant is harvested. Once the flower is dried and cured, terpenes are technically considered terpenoids. Proper curing procedures will keep these compounds intact, but excessive heat while drying can ‘cook’ them off. Hence, proper dry room conditions are important. 5. Terpenes Have Been Understated The therapeutic values of the terpenes found in cannabis have been greatly understated until now. From anti-carcinogenic to anti-inflammatory, the ‘terps’ offer amazing benefits. It is commonplace for laboratories to offer terpene testing, and as a greater understanding of these compounds arises, choosing the terpenes that suit your particular taste or health conditions will become the norm. 6. You Can Buy Terpenes In a Bottle Some producers have even mimicked the aromas produced by certain strains. While these essential oils may offer you the scent of Gorilla Glue #4, remember it is the cocktail of thousands of chemical compounds that create the wondrous effects of this magical cannabis strain. Some concentrate producers have even begun spiking their products with aftermarket terps. While there is technically nothing wrong with this, stick to the trusted goodness of full flower or a producer that you trust isn’t trying to dress up a mediocre product. 7. Don’t Look to THC Percentages When Choosing a Strain At the 2016 Emerald Cup in Santa Rosa, California, the vast majority of top 20 finishers didn’t even break 20% THC. This is obviously due to the multitude of other beyond the plant’s most famous intoxicant. It is becoming more and more obvious that terpenes play a magnificent role in the overall effects of cannabis. 8. Feed Your Terps When cultivating cannabis the food you feed it will help or hinder its terpene production. Organic feeds are widely considered the premier way to produce the most flavorful of flowers. 9. Flush Your Plants to Taste the Terps Dosing your plants with plenty of fresh water before your harvest is basic know-how, but it also plays an integral role in allowing your terp profiles to shine brightly. Chemical or salt build-ups in your soil can block your plant’s expression of one of its most crucial goodies. Give your plants at least a week of pure fresh water before you hack them down and taste the difference. 10. Savor the Flavor Proper storage of your cannabis flower and concentrates not only maintains the THC content but also the terpenoids. Overheating, overdrying and overcooling can turn your terp-rich Black Lime Reserve into flavorless brick weed. Treat your nugget with respect and it will return the favor and flavor.
