  • Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome Class Action Certified | Toker's Guide

A class action alleges that Aurora Cannabis Inc. and Aurora Cannabis Enterprises Inc. failed to warn consumers of the risk of developing CHS. The action was commenced by V.T., a Canadian Forces veteran. The class action seeks to recover damages for those who developed CHS after consuming cannabis products. The allegations have not been proven in court. < Back Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome Class Action Certified Jun 17, 2025 Source: Mg Magazine Newswire MG Magazine Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link *TORONTO –* Thousands of Canadian cannabis users are hospitalized and diagnosed with Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) every year. CHS is a dangerous side effect that can develop from the regular use of cannabis products. CHS involves cyclical bouts of severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, which can persist for days and can occur as often as once every five minutes. In extreme cases, CHS can result in organ failure and even death. On May 14, 2025, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice certified a national class action which alleges that Aurora Cannabis Inc. and Aurora Cannabis Enterprises Inc. negligently failed to warn consumers of the risk of developing CHS posed by the regular use of their cannabis products. This means the action can now proceed as a class action. No findings of liability have been made against the defendants. The action was commenced by V.T., a Canadian Forces veteran who was prescribed cannabis to treat medical conditions. V.T. purchased medicinal cannabis from the defendants and used it as prescribed, until they suffered two extreme bouts of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain that were so severe V.T. had to be hospitalized. On the second E.R. visit, V.T. was diagnosed as suffering from CHS. The only certain cure for CHS is to stop consuming cannabis, which V.T. did, and is now symptom-free. None of the cannabis products that V.T. consumed contained any warning about CHS, nor is there any warning in the product monograph or on Aurora’s website. The claim alleges that the Defendants knew, or should have known, of the risk of CHS arising from the regular use of their cannabis products, but negligently failed to provide any warning to consumers or prescribing physicians about the risk that they could develop CHS. The class action seeks to recover damages for the Class Members who developed CHS. The class action is brought on behalf of all persons in Canada who purchased a Cannabis Product from Aurora Cannabis Inc. or Aurora Cannabis Enterprises Inc. (which includes MedReleaf) on or after February 1, 2014, to May 14, 2025, who were diagnosed or differentially diagnosed with CHS during the period after consuming one or more cannabis products. Cannabis Products are the cannabis and/or synthetic cannabinoid resins, pills, lozenges, concentrates, oils, edibles, beverages, vapours, and raw and adulterated plant material cultivated, designed, manufactured, packaged, labeled, distributed, marketed, and/or sold by the defendants. The allegations contained in the Fresh as Amended Statement of Claim have not been proved in court, and the defendants deny the Plaintiff’s claims. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. Support for cannabis legalization in the U.S. has dropped to 64%, the lowest level since 2019, following a peak of 70% in 2023. The poll also found a significant divide, with 71% of respondents believing there is a drug problem nationally, but only 29% seeing it as a problem in their local area. < Back Gallup: Support for Cannabis Legalization in U.S. Falls to Lowest Level Since 2019 Nov 13, 2025 Source: TG Branfalt Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Support for cannabis legalization in the U.S. has dipped to 64%, according to a Gallup poll released November 5. • Heads Up: Effort to Save Hemp THC Just Hit a Major Wall in Congress | Toker's Guide

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn Thompson ruled that delaying hemp THC recriminalization is not germane to the Farm Bill, while Pennsylvania officials projected marijuana legalization could generate $500 million in annual revenue... < Back Heads Up: Effort to Save Hemp THC Just Hit a Major Wall in Congress Feb 27, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The cannabis world is moving fast, with major updates from the Capitol to the community. In D.C., a key House chairman blocked an attempt to delay the federal crackdown on hemp-derived THC, keeping the pressure on the Farm Bill. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania is eyeing a massive $500 million annual windfall if they greenlight adult-use sales, and Missouri is making strides in psychedelic research. We're even seeing innovation for the OGs, with new cannabis kiosks launching in Arizona senior living centers to make ordering a breeze. This whirlwind of activity is a big win for accessibility and normalization. While some politicians are still dragging their feet—looking at you, Texas—the momentum toward regulated, taxed, and safe markets is undeniable. For regular tokers, this means more choices and better legal protections are likely on the horizon. Seeing industry giants report hundreds of millions in revenue proves this isn't just a trend; it's a powerhouse economy that deserves fair rules and easy access for every adult who wants to enjoy the plant. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. • Ohio Advocates Announce Campaign to Undo Recent Hemp and Cannabis Reforms | Toker's Guide

Advocates in Ohio are launching a citizen referendum to roll back recent cannabis and hemp law reforms signed by Gov. Mike DeWine, arguing the changes defy the will of the voters who legalized adult-use cannabis in 2023 and would close thousands of businesses. The group, Ohioans for Cannabis Choice, must gather about 250,000 signatures to block the new bill, which outlaws intoxicating hemp products and criminalizes possession of out-of-state adult-use cannabis, before it takes effect in March. < Back Ohio Advocates Announce Campaign to Undo Recent Hemp and Cannabis Reforms Dec 26, 2025 Source: TG Branfalt Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Advocates in Ohio are planning a citizen referendum to roll back the sweeping cannabis and hemp reforms recently signed into law by Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, Cleveland.com reports. Dennis Willard, a spokesperson for Ohioans for Cannabis Choice, which is leading the effort, told Cleveland.com that the hemp and cannabis reform legislation “forcefully defies the will of the voters of Ohio” who legalized cannabis for adult use in 2023. “We are launching a referendum campaign to go directly to the voters. We believe voters will say no to government overreach, no to closing 6,000 small businesses and pink-slipping thousands of workers across the state, and no to once again recriminalizing hemp and marijuana.” — Willard to Cleveland.com Ohioans for Cannabis Choice must first file with Secretary of State Frank LaRose at least 1,000 valid signatures from registered Ohio voters to begin the process. Those signatures must be verified by LaRose’s office, which will then certify the petition. Petitioners must then gather enough signatures to qualify for the ballot – a total equal to 6% of the votes cast in the most recent gubernatorial election, or about 250,000 signatures, which must come from at least 44 of Ohio’s 88 counties. The bill targeted by the campaign outlaws all intoxicating hemp products in the state and criminalizes the possession of adult-use cannabis products obtained out of state. It is set to take effect in March, 90 days after it was signed into law by DeWine. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co.
