- Virginia Lawmakers Pass Competing Bills to Allow Adult-Use Cannabis Sales | Toker's Guide
The Virginia House and Senate passed separate bills to legalize adult-use cannabis sales, which now must be reconciled into a single proposal. The bills differ on tax rates and implementation dates, but Governor Abigail Spanberger has indicated she would sign a legalization bill if it reaches her desk. < Back Virginia Lawmakers Pass Competing Bills to Allow Adult-Use Cannabis Sales Feb 18, 2026 Source: Graham Abbott Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The Virginia House and Senate have each passed competing versions of a bill to legalize adult-use cannabis sales in the commonwealth, Foaley Hoag reports. House lawmakers passed HB 642 by a 65-32 vote on Tuesday morning, and the Senate narrowly passed SB 542 by a 21-19 vote several hours later. The largely similar proposals would establish licenses for cannabis cultivators, retailers, manufacturers, microbusinesses, testing facilities, and transportation services. The licenses would be awarded by lottery and the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority would be designated the industry’s prime regulator. The proposals differ in their proposed tax rates — SB 542 seeks to set a 12.875% tax rate with up to 3% in local taxes, while HB 642 proposes a 6% cannabis tax plus a local tax of between 1% and 3.5%. Additionally, the proposal passed by the Senate calls for combining the state’s cannabis and alcohol agencies to form the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Cannabis Control Authority. The Senate version of the bill also sets a later start date, January 1, 2027, compared to the House’s proposed start date, November 1, 2026. Next, leaders from each legislative body will need to meet and reconcile the bills into a unified proposal. Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) said during last year’s election that as governor, she would sign a cannabis sales legalization bill if one were to reach her desk. The bills were introduced together in January, about five years after former Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) vetoed a very similar cannabis sales framework. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. - Missouri Regulators Propose Curbside Pick-Up at Cannabis Dispensaries | Toker's Guide
The Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation released draft rules for allowing curbside pickup at licensed dispensaries to improve access, particularly for patients with disabilities. Under the proposed rules, curbside services must adhere to the same video surveillance as drive-thrus, transactions must be online (no cash exchange outside), and stores must post signage about operating vehicles while impaired. This draft proposal is part of ongoing efforts to gather input, and officials are seeking public feedback until October 28. < Back Missouri Regulators Propose Curbside Pick-Up at Cannabis Dispensaries Oct 20, 2025 Source: Graham Abbott Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Officials with the Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation last week released draft rules for allowing curbside pickup services at licensed dispensaries, the Missouri Independent reports. The new rules are intended to improve access to cannabis products, especially for patients with disabilities or mobility issues that could hinder their ability to interact with traditional storefronts. The change would primarily benefit retailers that do not have drive-thru windows. Under the proposed rules, cannabis curbside pickup services would be subject to the same video surveillance requirements as the industry’s drive-thru windows. Additionally, curbside transactions would occur online, so there would not be any cash exchanged outside of the licensed retail facility. The stores would also be required to post signage stating: “It is against the law to operate a dangerous device, motor vehicle, aircraft, or motorboat while under the influence of marijuana.” In a press release published last Tuesday, the Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS) noted the draft proposal is “not part of a formal rulemaking process and is instead part of DHSS’ ongoing efforts to gather all relevant input before formally filing proposed rules and proposed changes to rules.” Officials are asking for public feedback until October 28. The public can view the rules and provide any feedback via the DHSS Pre-Rulemaking Feedback portal. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. - Op-Ed: Federal Hemp Ban Creates Chance for Full Cannabis Legalization | Toker's Guide
The author, Adam Terry, argues that the new federal ban on hemp products containing THC, pushed by Sen. Mitch McConnell, is a critical opportunity for nationwide cannabis legalization by 2026. The ban, which limits THC and redefines "total THC," will abruptly remove access to cannabis for millions of Americans, particularly in red states, creating political leverage. Terry proposes a simple plan: federally de-schedule cannabis, create baseline federal regulations (including age-gating and excise tax), and leave specifics like dosing limits and licensing to the states. He emphasizes the urgency, stating that if action is not taken before 2026, the moment will be lost. < Back Op-Ed: Federal Hemp Ban Creates Chance for Full Cannabis Legalization Nov 18, 2025 Source: Marijuana Moment Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The cannabis world is buzzing after Sen. Mitch McConnell pushed through a federal ban that could wipe out the hemp industry by late 2026. By capping THC levels and effectively outlawing CBD isolate production, this "sledgehammer" move threatens to strip millions of Americans—especially veterans and seniors in red states—of the wellness products and drinks they now rely on. However, there is a major silver lining. This abrupt loss of access could be the ultimate political catalyst. For the first time, millions face losing a freedom they already enjoy, creating massive pressure for a unified, federally legal system. The goal is simple: deschedule the plant, set basic safety standards like age-gating, and let states handle the specific retail details. For the average toker, this matters because it’s the best shot we’ve ever had to end the confusing divide between "hemp" and "marijuana." Bringing these industries together could finally lead to consistent, safe, and legal access across the entire country, ending the era of prohibition for good. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co.
