- Maryland Considers Protections for First Responders Using Medical Cannabis Off Duty | Toker's Guide
Maryland lawmakers are considering HB 797, a bill designed to protect firefighters and emergency medical workers from employment discrimination or retaliation for their legal, off-duty use of medical marijuana. The legislation aims to provide first responders with alternative treatments for chronic pain and PTSD while maintaining strict prohibitions against on-duty impairment. < Back Maryland Considers Protections for First Responders Using Medical Cannabis Off Duty Mar 12, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Maryland lawmakers are currently reviewing HB 797, a vital piece of legislation aimed at protecting our first responders. The bill would prevent firefighters and rescue workers from facing employment discrimination or firing simply for being registered medical cannabis patients. Right now, these heroes often have to choose between their careers and a safer, natural alternative for treating job-related chronic pain, PTSD, and anxiety. While the bill maintains strict rules against on-duty impairment, it ensures that what happens off the clock stays off the clock. This is a massive win for the community because it acknowledges that medical cannabis is a legitimate healthcare tool, not a reason for punishment. For everyday tokers, this matters because it sets a powerful precedent: if the state trusts first responders to use cannabis responsibly off-duty, it reinforces the push for broader employment protections for all workers. It’s high time we stopped penalizing people for making healthy, legal choices in their private lives, especially those who sacrifice so much for our safety. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. Why unconventional edibles win with today’s consumers With federal hemp definitions shifting and new rules scheduled to take effect in 2027, the future of hemp-derived edibles remains uncertain. For now, though, these products offer shoppers a chance to explore a wave of culinary creativity that may not last. Consider this season an opportunity to experience the category at its most experimental, flavorful, and freewheeling. ------------------------------ FAQ: What to Know about Hemp-Derived Edibles this Holiday Season 1. Are hemp-derived delta-9 edibles legal right now? Yes. Hemp-derived edibles that meet the federal 0.3-percent delta-9 THC limit remain legal at the moment, though rules vary by state. Congress recently passed a continuing resolution that redefines “hemp,” with changes expected to take effect in 2027. Until then, compliant hemp-derived edibles may continue to be sold where permitted. 2. What makes these hemp edibles different from traditional gummies or brownies? Today’s products lean into culinary creativity: mochi-style gummies, THC honey snaps, gourmet chocolates, infused hot sauces, and more. Many offer functional botanicals, full-spectrum formulations, and global flavor influences, giving both retailers and consumers options far beyond standard candy-format edibles. 3. How do consumers know how much to consume? Most hemp-derived edibles list dosage clearly on the packaging — usually 5mg to 15mg THC per serving, with hot sauces or spreads measured by teaspoons or tablespoons. Beginners should start low, go slow, and wait at least 45–60 minutes before taking more. Retailers can support safe use by training staff to explain onset, serving sizes, and product differences. 4. What should retailers consider when stocking hemp-derived edibles for the holidays? Look for full-panel testing, clear dosing, consistent quality, and trustworthy supply chains. Products that offer novelty (like hot sauce), gifting appeal (like chocolates), or low-key functionality (like honey snaps) tend to perform well. Seasonal merchandising — bundles, gift sets, and cross-category displays — can also drive impulse buying. 5. What do shoppers look for when buying hemp edibles as gifts? Clean ingredients, beautiful packaging, unique flavors, and an easy-to-understand dose. Many gifting-minded customers prefer “experience products,” such as chocolates scored for microdosing or single-serve dessert cups that feel premium and shareable. 6. Will these products still be available after 2027? It’s too early to say. The coming regulatory changes could narrow what qualifies as hemp, which may affect some product formulations. For now, shoppers and retailers can enjoy a category still brimming with creativity—and, in many cases, stocking up ahead of potential changes simply adds to the holiday novelty factor. 7. Are hemp-derived edibles safe for beginners? Yes, when used responsibly. Many brands develop “soft-start” products designed for newer consumers, with lower THC levels and approachable flavor profiles. Retailers should highlight clear labeling, serving suggestions, and onset expectations to help newcomers feel confident. 8. How should these edibles be stored or displayed? Most shelf-stable items—like honey, sauces, and chocolates — need cool, dry storage. Perishables like infused ice cream require freezer space and adherence to cold-chain logistics. For retail environments, grouping products by flavor profile, use case, or dosing style can help shoppers navigate quickly. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. - Results from Swiss Cannabis Pilot Program Suggest Legalization Reduces Problematic Cannabis Use | Toker's Guide
The first results from Switzerland’s adult-use cannabis pilot program suggest that legal cannabis access reduces problematic cannabis consumption. Participants who obtained cannabis legally reported “a significant drop” in problematic cannabis use. “Public health-oriented recreational cannabis access may decrease cannabis use and cannabis-related harms,” the researchers concluded. Last February, the National Council’s Social Security and Health Committee voted in favor of a federal law draft that would allow citizens to grow, buy, possess, and consume cannabis. < Back Results from Swiss Cannabis Pilot Program Suggest Legalization Reduces Problematic Cannabis Use May 15, 2025 Source: TG Branfalt Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The first results from Switzerland’s adult-use cannabis pilot program suggest that legal cannabis access reduces problematic cannabis consumption, according to a study published last month in the journal *Addiction**. *In the study, the researchers define “problematic consumption” if it causes or exacerbates health, social or psychological difficulties – even without dependency in the classic sense. Out of approximately 370 participants who participated in the study, half were able to buy legal cannabis in one of the nine participating pharmacies. The participants were offered counseling in the process. The other half, as a control group, continued to use illegally-sourced cannabis. The participants reported on their consumption and mental state via regular questionnaires. The participants who obtained cannabis legally reported “a significant drop” in problematic cannabis use, despite there being no significant difference between the first study groups in terms of anxiety, depression, and other symptoms in the first six months. After the first six months, the control group was able to buy cannabis through the pharmacies. Two years into the study, the 300 participants still taking part showed significant improvement in their mental state. “Public health-oriented recreational cannabis access may decrease cannabis use and cannabis-related harms,” the researchers concluded, “especially among those using other drugs.” Last February, the National Council’s Social Security and Health Committee voted 14-9 in favor of a federal law draft that would allow citizens to grow, buy, possess, and consume cannabis. The Weed Care study was launched in Basel in January 2023. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. - Galactic Gas Strain — Effects, THC %, Lineage & Reviews | Toker's Guide
Everything about Galactic Gas: effects, typical THC, lineage, and terpenes — plus hands-on product reviews and bud photos from Toker's Guide's DMV experts. < Back Galactic Gas Strain Review Type Hybrid THC % 23% Dominant Terpene Energy NA Relaxed, Happy Overview Galactic Gas is a potent, indica-dominant hybrid marijuana strain known for its heavy, sedating effects and pungent, fuel-forward profile. It is a favored choice for experienced users seeking deep relaxation and a complex sensory experience. Effects Galactic Gas is a potent indica-dominant hybrid that delivers a powerful high, beginning with a soft cerebral uplift and a surge in creativity before quickly transitioning into a heavy, tingly body stone. This strain is known for its deeply sedating effects and frequently induces couch-lock, making it ideal for low-energy activities and nighttime use. Its complex terpene profile is led by caryophyllene, which provides spicy notes and anti-inflammatory benefits, alongside limonene for mood elevation, and myrcene and humulene, which reinforce its earthy aroma and sedative, muscle-relaxant properties. Due to its high THC content and grounding nature, Galactic Gas is highly effective for managing chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, stress, and increased appetite. Positive Effects Side Effects Common Uses Relaxed 20% Happy 20% Euphoric 20% Uplifted 20% Talkative 0% Creative 0% Energetic 0% Focused 0% Giggly 0% Tingly 0% Hungry 0% Sleepy 0% Unknown Dry Mouth 0% Dry Eyes 0% Dizzy 0% Paranoid 0% Anxious 0% Hungry 0% Tingly 0% Sleepy 0% Appearance The buds of Galactic Gas are typically chunky, dense, and resin-heavy, featuring a tight, exotic structure. They display a range of deep green colors often highlighted by purple hues, vibrant orange pistils, and a thick, sticky coating of milky white trichomes. Aroma This strain is renowned for its intense and room-clearing scent. It features a powerful base of pungent diesel and heavy gas, layered with skunky, earthy, and herbal notes. Breaking the buds apart reveals underlying hints of sweet candy, creamy gelato, and sour citrus. Flavor The flavor profile mirrors its complex aroma, offering a robust mix of spicy, skunky diesel and pungent earth upon inhalation. This is balanced by a creamy, dessert-like sweetness on the exhale, often accompanied by notes of berries, leather, and zesty lemon. Lineage Galactic Gas is a celebrity cross of Gelato \#45 and Gushers. This genetic combination results in a balanced to indica-dominant hybrid (varying by source from 55/45 to 60/40 indica-dominant) that pairs the creamy smoothness of the Gelato line with the candy-sweet, resinous qualities of Gushers. Terpene Profile - Caryophyllene: The most prevalent terpene, providing spicy, peppery notes and contributing to anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. - Limonene: Adds bright citrus accents and helps elevate mood and reduce stress. - Myrcene: Provides earthy, musky undertones and reinforces the strain’s deeply sedative, muscle-relaxant properties. - Humulene: Contributes to the woody, pungent, and earthy aromatic profile.Effects With THC levels typically ranging between 19% and 27% (and some batches testing much higher), Galactic Gas delivers a powerful high. It begins with a soft cerebral uplift and a surge in creativity, which quickly transitions into a heavy, tingly body stone. Users often report "couch-lock," increased appetite, and profound sedation, making it ideal for managing chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, and stress. Cultivation Preferences Galactic Gas is considered a moderately difficult strain to grow. It is noted for its high resin production and can produce yields of up to 475g/m2. It thrives in environments where humidity and temperature can be carefully controlled to support its dense bud structure. Origin This strain emerged from the "modern exotic" wave of cannabis breeding in the United States, specifically credited to breeders like Alien Labs, who focused on combining loud, gassy profiles with dessert-forward genetics. Seed Suppliers Authentic genetics for Galactic Gas can be found through specialized breeders and distributors such as Alien Labs, as well as various online seed banks that carry "exotic" hybrid crosses involving Gelato and Gushers lineages. Conclusion Galactic Gas stands out as a top-tier choice for connoisseurs who appreciate a "loud" aromatic profile and high-potency effects. While its intensity and pungent skunky aroma may be overwhelming for beginners, it remains a benchmark for those seeking a heavy, grounding experience that blends the best of modern fuel and dessert strains.
