  • Oklahoma GOP Leaders Reject Governor’s Call to Repeal Medical Cannabis via Ballot | Toker's Guide

Oklahoma Republican legislative leaders have expressed skepticism and largely dismissed Governor Kevin Stitt’s proposal to put a measure on the ballot to repeal the state’s medical marijuana program. Senate and House leaders argue that voters already support medical use and that the industry should be managed through continued regulation rather than a total shutdown. < Back Oklahoma GOP Leaders Reject Governor’s Call to Repeal Medical Cannabis via Ballot Feb 17, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt recently stirred the pot by suggesting a ballot measure to repeal the state’s medical marijuana program, but top Republican lawmakers aren't biting. Both Senate President Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton and House Speaker Kyle Hilbert have largely dismissed the idea, noting that the "cat is already out of the bag." They argue that Oklahomans clearly support medical access, even if they’ve previously rejected full recreational use. Paxton emphasized that it’s unfair to pull the rug out from legitimate business owners who have invested their lives into the program, suggesting that better regulation—not a total shutdown—is the path forward. For the everyday toker, this is a massive win for stability. It shows that even in a conservative state, the medical program has become a respected fixture that leadership is willing to protect against executive overreach. While the Governor’s rhetoric focuses on "criminal interests," the legislative pushback ensures that patients won’t lose their legal access or their safe, tested medicine. It’s a clear signal that the industry is here to stay, prioritizing patient needs and community investment over political posturing. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. • GOP Congresswoman Shares How Medical Cannabis Helped Her Aunt with Cancer | Toker's Guide

GOP Congresswoman Ashley Hinson supports a robust medical marijuana program due to her aunt's experience with cancer, while also expressing concerns about the lack of sobriety tests for marijuana compared to alcohol. Iowa's medical cannabis program is restrictive, but lawmakers are considering expanding it. < Back GOP Congresswoman Shares How Medical Cannabis Helped Her Aunt with Cancer Jun 6, 2025 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Iowa GOP Representative Ashley Hinson is speaking out about her support for strong medical cannabis access, rooted in a deeply personal story. During a recent town hall, Hinson shared how medical marijuana was a lifeline for her late aunt during a sixteen-year battle with cancer, providing the relief necessary to maintain her strength. While Hinson remains cautious about full adult-use legalization—specifically citing concerns over road safety and the current lack of reliable sobriety testing—she has consistently backed federal measures to improve industry banking and expand research. This is a significant win for the community because it shows that personal experience is finally breaking through partisan barriers. Even in more restrictive states like Iowa, where flower and home cultivation are still off the table, having high-profile Republicans acknowledge the undeniable therapeutic power of the plant is a major step forward. • Heads Up: The DEA Just Formally Labeled HHC As A Banned Synthetic And Not Legal Hemp | Toker's Guide

The DEA has clarified that the synthetic cannabinoid HHC is a Schedule I illegal substance and does not qualify as legal hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill. The agency is assigning the compound its own unique drug code to facilitate production quotas and regulatory oversight. < Back Heads Up: The DEA Just Formally Labeled HHC As A Banned Synthetic And Not Legal Hemp May 1, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The Drug Enforcement Administration is drawing a clear line in the sand regarding hexahydrocannabinol, better known as HHC. In a recent move, federal officials clarified that this popular cannabinoid is officially considered a Schedule I controlled substance. While HHC has been a staple in smoke shops and gas stations, the DEA’s new stance is that it doesn't meet the legal definition of hemp established by the 2018 Farm Bill because it’s typically created through a chemical process rather than being naturally extracted. For fans of the clear-headed, mellow experience HHC provides, this news is definitely something to keep on your radar. HHC is essentially a hydrogenated version of THC, often made by converting CBD. Because this conversion happens in a lab, the DEA views it as a synthetic tetrahydrocannabinol, which keeps it firmly in the "illegal" category under federal law. To make things official, the agency has even assigned HHC its own unique drug code to help track and regulate its production. So, why does this matter to you? If you enjoy the accessibility of hemp-derived alternatives, this move signals a tightening of the reins on the industry. It means that finding HHC products might become a bit more difficult as retailers face increased pressure. However, it's not all doom and gloom for the community. This clarification comes right as the federal government is moving forward with plans to reschedule traditional marijuana to Schedule III, which could eventually open up more legal and regulated avenues for all types of enthusiasts. In the meantime, the best move is to stay informed about your local state laws, as many states have their own specific rules that might differ from federal guidance. If you're looking for a reliable experience, sticking with products that provide full lab results and clear sourcing is always a smart play. The landscape is shifting fast, but staying educated ensures you can keep enjoying your favorite herbs safely and responsibly. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. • Licensed California Cannabis Sales Down 11% in Q1 | Toker's Guide

Legal cannabis sales in California saw an 11% drop in Q1, the largest decline in state history. Despite this, and price decreases, the state excise tax will increase July 1, which could further contract the market. A bill to block the tax increase passed the state House but needs Senate approval. < Back Licensed California Cannabis Sales Down 11% in Q1 Jun 5, 2025 Source: TG Branfalt Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Legal cannabis sales in California experienced an 11% sales drop during the first quarter of this year, compared to last year, the largest such decline in the history of legal cannabis sales in the state, SFGate reports. Sales during the first quarter totaled $1.088 billion. Tamma Adamek, a spokesperson for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, told SFGate that comparing quarter-by-quarter totals is like comparing “apples to oranges” because tax figures are always being updated as more shops file their tax reports and that officials “know that gap will shrink.” According to a state Department of Cannabis Control analysis published this year, legal cannabis sales comprise just 38% of the overall cannabis market in California in 2024. The report noted challenges faced by cannabis companies, including a 57% decline, adjusted for inflation, in wholesale cannabis prices as of Q4 2024 compared to average prices in Q4 2020; a 46% decline in indoor-cultivated cannabis prices; a 74% drop in outdoor-cultivated cannabis prices down; and a 60% reduction in mixed-light-cultivated cannabis prices during the same period. The report notes a “continued” decrease in retail prices through the first half of 2024. Despite the price decreases industry-wide and the fact that the majority of cannabis sales in the state are still occurring outside of the regulated market, the state excise tax will increase from 15% to 19% on July 1, which could further contract the market and push more consumers into the unlicensed market. In a March update, the California Legislative Analyst’s Office suggested the “tax hike will reduce the size of the licensed cannabis market” and “will offset only a small share of the revenue raised by the tax hike.” A bill to block the tax increase has passed the state House but still needs approval from the state Senate and would need to be signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. (Story Dispensary, Waldorf, MD) This Bomb Popz infused pre-roll starts winning before you even open the tube.
