Green Health Laboratories, based in Foley, was granted a state testing laboratory license by the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC). The lab will be the only medical cannabis testing lab in the state until the AMCC reopens the application process. The AMCC reopened the application process after the previous lab company chose not to renew due to financial decisions. Green Health Laboratories was the sole applicant. The license was awarded after a presentation where the company prioritized patient safety and compliance.

Marijuana Moment

Alabama's medical cannabis program just cleared a major hurdle as state regulators officially licensed Green Health Laboratories in Foley. After a previous lab backed out due to the high costs and legal drama surrounding Alabama’s rollout, this new facility stepped up as the lone applicant. For now, they’ll be the only spot in the state authorized to test medical products, serving as a critical checkpoint for quality control against contaminants like heavy metals or fungi.

This is a massive win for local patients who have been stuck in a holding pattern while the state figures out its licensing mess. In a market where raw flower is still banned and patients are limited to specific items like "peach-flavored" gummies, having a functional lab is the "firewall" needed to finally get safe medicine into hands. While it's a bit of a bottleneck to have just one lab, it’s a necessary spark to get the program moving. For Alabama tokers, this means the wait for tested, legal relief is finally nearing the finish line.
