Marijuana Moment

The cannabis landscape is shifting fast, and big business is officially knocking on the door. Major alcohol companies and delivery giants like DoorDash are now lobbying Congress, specifically eyeing the booming hemp-infused drink market. While it’s a bit "corporate," this pressure could finally force federal movement on banking and regulation.

On the state level, it’s a mixed bag. New Jersey’s gubernatorial race features candidates with polar opposite views, while Ohio lawmakers are unfortunately moving to roll back some voter-approved consumer protections. More positively, Pennsylvania is stepping up its regulatory game with a new oversight board, and Rhode Island is clearing the path for social equity dispensaries. Even science is getting creative, with researchers finding seizure-fighting "CBD-like" compounds in caraway seeds.

For the everyday toker, these updates are a reminder that our community’s progress is constantly being debated in state houses. Seeing mainstream industries jump in suggests that normalization is inevitable, but we have to stay vocal to ensure those "corporate" interests don't steamroll the small shops and consumer rights we’ve fought for.
