A massive new YouGov poll shows that most Americans are ready to leave the War on Drugs behind. Released just as President Trump is pushing the DOJ to speed up rescheduling, the survey reveals that 70% of U.S. adults—including solid majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents—favor moving cannabis to Schedule III. Even more promising for the community, 54% of respondents now support full adult-use legalization, and a whopping 76% recognize the plant’s legitimate medical benefits.
While rescheduling isn’t the same as total federal legalization, it’s a huge win for the culture. It finally acknowledges what we’ve known all along: this plant has real value. For everyday tokers, this shift means fewer research roadblocks and a path toward ending the unfair tax burdens on the small businesses that keep our community stocked. When politicians across the aisle start agreeing with the people, it’s a sign that the stigma is finally fading and a more accessible, regulated future is actually within reach.
