Marijuana Moment
The DEA is back at it with the red tape, claiming the marijuana rescheduling appeal is still pending. This comes even after President Trump signed an executive order demanding the process be finished as quickly as possible. While the White House wants to move cannabis to Schedule III, the agency is taking its sweet time setting a schedule for an appeal involving alleged agency bias. Meanwhile, prohibitionists have even recruited former Attorney General Bill Barr to fight the change in court if it ever actually happens.
It is a frustrating game of wait-and-see for the community, but the pressure from the top is a good sign. For everyday tokers and business owners, moving to Schedule III is a massive win because it finally acknowledges the plant's medical benefits and clears the path for fair taxes by removing the 280E burden. Even with the bureaucratic delays and legal threats from the old guard, seeing the executive branch push for reform gives us hope that the days of Schedule I are numbered. Accessibility is coming; it is just a matter of when.
