Marijuana Moment

The Supreme Court just hit the pause button on a high-stakes case that hits home for many in the community. The Trump administration requested, and was granted, a deadline extension to file briefs in U.S. v. Hemani. This case is a big deal because it challenges the federal ban on gun ownership for cannabis users—a policy the government still defends by claiming tokers are "dangerous."

The new schedule pushes the final reply into February 2026, meaning we’ll have to wait a bit longer for a definitive ruling on whether the Second Amendment protects those who choose a plant over a pill. This matters because, for too long, legal patients and responsible enthusiasts have been forced to choose between their safety and their stash. While several lower courts have already started calling this ban unconstitutional, a Supreme Court win would finally clear the smoke and ensure that being a cannabis consumer doesn't mean giving up your basic rights. Stay tuned, because this one is a major milestone for normalization.
