Marijuana Moment

It’s a classic case of the government's right hand not knowing what the left is doing. While the DEA and federal law still insist that cannabis is a Schedule I drug with "no accepted medical use," the USDA’s own plant database is telling a different story. In a guide used by botanists nationwide, *Cannabis sativa* is explicitly described as having "medicinal" uses, with the USDA even listing THC's potential to treat pain, glaucoma, and spasms.

This hypocrisy is reaching a breaking point as agencies like the HHS and NIDA also move toward acknowledging the plant's therapeutic benefits. Despite this growing scientific consensus, the official rescheduling process remains stuck in a bureaucratic loop between the DEA and the current administration. For everyday tokers, this matters because it highlights how outdated federal policy has become compared to actual science. Having a major federal agency like the USDA admit the truth is a huge win for the community—it’s one more brick in the wall of prohibition that’s bound to come tumbling down soon.
