A Call for Fairness in Washington DC’s Marijuana Market: Why Legalizing Legacy Dispensaries Benefits Everyone
Washington DC
While DC does not technically have recreational weed there are legacy cannabis gifting businesses, known as "i-71", who are still awaiting final approval for their medical licenses. Therefore, we're still listing them and their reviews under DC Recreational Weed below. As they convert to licensed medical dispensaries, you'll need to register as a medical patient to make purchases. Luckily there's self-certification for residents and non-residents alike and also reciprocity for medical cards from other states. For a list of the top medical dispensaries and their reviews check out our Best DC Dispensaries page or go to our DC Medical Marijuana Guide to learn more.
Maryland
Maryland now has Adult-Use (recreational) cannabis available to all individuals both residents and non-residents alike. Most of the medical marijuana dispensaries in Maryland now offer Adult-Use too which means most of the same great products are now available to everyone. Find the best recreational and medical dispensaries in Maryland and their cannabis products by checking out the reviews and lists on our Maryland Dispensaries page.
The "recreational" weed delivery services and retail storefronts listed and reviewed here are considered "legacy" and were "Initiative I-71 compliant" for recreational cannabis gifting prior to recent regulatory changes in Washington DC. Previously you didn't need a medical cannabis license to visit them. However, many are now converting to licensed medical dispensaries and once they do you'll need to register as a medical patient to make purchases and place delivery orders.
