Washington is making some major moves in the natural medicine space. State senators just gave the green light to SB 5921, a bill that would set up a legal framework for adults to access psilocybin therapy. If this passes, the Department of Health will oversee a regulated program where folks with qualifying conditions can get treated in a supervised medical setting. We’re looking at a 2028 start date, giving the state time to license producers and train clinicians properly.

While this is focused on psychedelics, the same lawmakers are also looking at cannabis wins, like finally legalizing home grows and even letting Airbnbs offer guests complimentary pre-rolls. This is a massive win for our community because it shows that the "Emerald State" is leading the charge in treating plants and fungi as medicine rather than criminal tools. For everyday users, it means more options for mental health and a more relaxed, accessible culture. Seeing these barriers fall across the board is exactly the kind of progress we love to see.
