  • Hawaii Cannabis Legalization Bills Likely Dead for 2026 | Toker's Guide

Hawaii House bills aimed at legalizing marijuana are effectively dead for the 2026 session, as key lawmakers, including House Speaker Nadine Nakamura, cite a lack of sufficient support within the legislature to pass them. Although proposals, including one to put the issue before voters, stalled, the state did advance other cannabis-related measures, such as expediting expungements for past marijuana offenses, expanding medical marijuana caregiver cultivation, and finalizing rules for medical marijuana dispensaries to sell more products. < Back Hawaii Cannabis Legalization Bills Likely Dead for 2026 Feb 11, 2026 Source: Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link It looks like the dream of recreational cannabis in Hawaii is hitting another major roadblock. Key lawmakers in the House, including Speaker Nadine Nakamura, have basically declared legalization bills dead for the 2026 session. Despite a push to let voters decide at the ballot box, leadership claims there just isn’t enough support among representatives to move forward. While the state is making some small wins—like cleaning up old records through expungements and expanding medical caregiver rules—the big shift to a legal adult-use market is stalled out. This is a real bummer for the community because Hawaii is leaving massive economic potential on the table, with experts predicting up to $90 million in monthly sales. For everyday tokers, this means the wait for safe, regulated, and tax-contributing retail continues while the "gray market" remains the only option. It’s a classic case of politicians being out of step with the people’s desire for progress and accessibility. For now, it’s back to the waiting game for our friends in the islands. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. • California Moves to Permanently Ban Hemp THC Products | Toker's Guide

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced a permanent ban on hemp-derived THC products. The ban, supported by Gov. Gavin Newsom, aims to regulate the cannabis industry and address the risks of untested products. Licensed cannabis sales in California have dropped 11% this year. < Back California Moves to Permanently Ban Hemp THC Products Jun 16, 2025 Source: Graham Abbott Ganjapreneur Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced Friday that the state would move to make permanent its temporary ban on hemp-derived THC products, SF Gate reports. Led by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), state lawmakers approved emergency rules containing the temporary ban last September. The six-month policy took effect immediately, and Newsom later extended the ban for another six months in March. The current policy is now set to expire in September. The permanent ban proposed by CDPH now enters a 45-day public comment period and there will be a hearing sometime next month to hear input from the public. Newsom advocated for the ban last year, arguing that hemp-derived THC products circumvent the state’s highly regulated cannabis industry, which in turn undercuts the state-licensed companies trying to operate in the legal cannabis space. Before the ban, individuals could purchase THC-infused gummies, beverages, and other products from ordinary retailers including gas stations and convenience stores — additionally, the products were largely untested for pesticides, additives, and other contaminants. Last month, the governor’s office said the state boasted a 99.7% compliance rating with the hemp products ban among businesses visited by state officials. Meanwhile, licensed California cannabis sales experienced an 11% sales drop during the first quarter of this year, compared to last year. It marked the largest decline in legal cannabis sales in the state to date. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Cookies & Alt Sol "Ridgeline Lantz" Strain Review - Takoma Wellness Center Ridgeline Lantz, cultivated by Alt Sol and currently available at Takoma Wellness Center, exudes an impressive pedigree. Cannabis cultivation facility reusing over 250,000 gallons of water annually. < Back Leading the Green Revolution in Maine: How Paul’s Boutique is Saving Water and Building a Killer Workplace Culture Mar 31, 2026 Source: Staff Cannabis Business Times Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link If you are a fan of high-quality herb and conscious consumption, you will love what is happening up in Maine. Paul’s Boutique, a well-known name in the Pine Tree State, is proving that you do not have to choose between growing fire flower and being a good steward of the environment. While the industry is often criticized for its heavy energy and resource consumption, this crew is setting a gold standard for what a modern cultivation facility should look like. The most impressive part of their operation is their massive commitment to water conservation. At their 14,000-square-foot grow site, they have implemented a system that recycles more than 250,000 gallons of water every single year. For the average toker, that might just sound like a big number, but it is actually a game-changer. By reclaiming and reusing such a huge volume of water, they are drastically reducing their footprint on the local ecosystem while still keeping their plants perfectly hydrated and happy. What makes this even better is that they aren’t just focused on the plants; they are focused on the people, too. Paul’s Boutique recently earned a spot as one of the best cannabis companies to work for, which says a lot about their internal culture. When a team feels valued and supported, that positive energy usually finds its way into the final product. For those of us who care about where our stash comes from, this is the kind of transparency we love to see. Supporting businesses that prioritize sustainability and employee well-being ensures that the legal market continues to evolve in the right direction. If you ever find yourself wandering through Maine, keeping an eye out for their harvests is a great way to support a brand that actually gives a damn about the planet and its community.
