The ads, which were created by the organization Make America Fentanyl Free (MAFF), reportedly received input from President Donald Trump, who insisted that he wanted Americans to see more visceral portrayals of the fentanyl crisis. The multi-million dollar campaign is targeting airwaves and social media, including a spot during an NFL game on Monday. While the president provided guidance on messaging for the campaign and previewed the ads ahead of their release, the effort is not formally a project of the federal government. A spokesperson for MAFF told Axios that Trump “offered great advice, including the use of vivid imagery to show Americans exactly how fentanyl destroys lives, families and communities.” Even though the ads are not federally funded, DEA earlier this month gave a signal boost to the campaign, sharing a Fox News story about the initiative on its Get Smart About Drugs resource site that it’s also used to send messages warning against marijuana use, linking it to depression and suicidal thinking. *Here’s the transcript for the MAFF ad on fentanyl and marijuana: * *Actor 1:* Best birthday party ever. Well, except for the weed. Turns out it was laced with fentanyl—and a birthday I’ll never forget, because it was my last. *Actor 2:* Just one mistake and you’re out of the game, forever. *Narrator:* Taking fentanyl is like playing Russian roulette. Just a few grains can kill you. *Actor 3:* I had to pull an all nighter, so I took the pill my roommate gave me. I swore it’d be the last time. It was. *Actor 4:* I was immediately addicted to fentanyl, exactly like the drug dealers wanted. My skin turned blue, I aged rapidly, my organs painfully deteriorated, then I died. Alone. *Narrator:* Fentanyl kills. Join President Trump’s fight to end the fentanyl crisis. Another ad says Trump is “taking bold actions to save American lives” and depicts images of his administration’s military attacks on alleged drug boats. “He won’t let the radical left stop him,” the narrator says as on-screen text shows a headline reading, “Democrats push back on Trump’s drug cartel crackdown.” In fact, a number of Republican senators have joined Democrats in expressing concerns about the legality of the administration’s lethal strike campaign. Among those involved in the MAFF ads, according to Axios, were two former senior advisors on Trump’s presidential campaigns—Chris LaCivita and Danielle Alvarez—as well as GOP operative John Brabender. The link between overdose deaths and fentanyl-contaminated marijuana has proved contentious, with some advocates arguing that sourcing on news reports about such incidents are over-reliant on law enforcement claims, many of which are later walked back following additional testing. But fentanyl has undoubtedly entered the illicit drug supply in other troubling ways. On the campaign trail, Vice President JD Vance also claimed that “marijuana bags” are being laced with fentanyl, and he said the Biden administration’s border policies made it so youth, including his own kids, couldn’t experiment with cannabis or other drugs without risking fatal overdoses. New York regulators have worked to debunk what they’ve called a “false” narrative that cannabis is commonly contaminated with fentanyl—a “misconception” that remains “widespread” despite a lack of evidence, they said in 2023. On the other side of the cannabis debate, another Trump-affiliated political committee—America First Agriculture Action Inc.—recently pushed the president to follow through on rescheduling marijuana, releasing ads that highlight his previous endorsement of the reform on the campaign trail. Trump said in late August that he’d make a decision on rescheduling within weeks, but that’s yet to happen. Using RO water is vital to creating top-tier concentrates. When you use a RO system, it filters out impurities and other undesired materials that could end up in your final product. Hash washing with water that isn't filtered results in low-quality extracts. More so, the contaminants could be harmful to the consumer's health. As such, you must change your filters and membranes in your RO system regularly. Changes may be required weekly, monthly or quarterly, depending on your ice water hash processing facility's output. Using plastic trash cans could result in microplastics ending up in your bubble hash. Smoking anything with microplastics is not only disgusting, but it's also potentially dangerous. It is certainly not something a top-shelf bubble hash maker, or anyone for that matter, should ever sell. Instead, find a sanitary, FDA food contact approved hash washing vessel, like stainless steel. We recommend purchasing a dedicated piece of equipment, like a washing vessel. Not only is the cut down in time beneficial to production creation. The now available time allows for additional bubble hash production cycles. Or you can use the time to focus on other efforts that improve the company. As is the case with using the fresh frozen method, freeze-drying your hash retains the best flavors and preserves terpene profiles. It also enhances your final hash product's light color, an excellent selling point for shelf appeal. Lightly colored concentrates command a higher premium than lower quality concentrates do. One of the main reasons a cold environment is preferred is that the warmer the environment, the higher the chance of terpene volatilization. Volitation is what occurs when terpenes evaporate or disperse into vapor. On the other hand, a cooler space lessens the likelihood that the terpenes in your SKUs will be volatilized. Besides preserving terpenes, keeping your facility cool helps the trichomes of your fresh frozen cannabis flower become more brittle. Trichomes that are more brittle detach easier in your ice water hash mixing vessel. Those additional trichomes should lead to higher potencies as well as enhanced flavors and aromas in your SKUs. Led by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), state lawmakers approved emergency rules containing the temporary ban last September. The six-month policy took effect immediately, and Newsom later extended the ban for another six months in March. The current policy is now set to expire in September. The permanent ban proposed by CDPH now enters a 45-day public comment period and there will be a hearing sometime next month to hear input from the public. Newsom advocated for the ban last year, arguing that hemp-derived THC products circumvent the state’s highly regulated cannabis industry, which in turn undercuts the state-licensed companies trying to operate in the legal cannabis space. Before the ban, individuals could purchase THC-infused gummies, beverages, and other products from ordinary retailers including gas stations and convenience stores — additionally, the products were largely untested for pesticides, additives, and other contaminants. Last month, the governor’s office said the state boasted a 99.7% compliance rating with the hemp products ban among businesses visited by state officials. Meanwhile, licensed California cannabis sales experienced an 11% sales drop during the first quarter of this year, compared to last year. Nov 4, 2025 Kyle Jaeger Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The U.S. Supreme Court has granted a request from the Trump administration to extend the deadline to submit briefs in a case concerning the constitutionality of a federal ban on gun ownership by people who use marijuana and other drugs. After justices agreed to take the case, *U.S. v. Hemani, *late last month, DOJ told the court there was mutual agreement between its attorneys and those representing the respondent in the case that the initial deadline for briefs and reply briefs should be revised because of the “press of other cases.” On Friday, the court agreed, pushing back the deadline for the government to file a brief from December 4 to December 12. A brief from the respondents will now be due by January 20, 2026 and a reply brief from the government will be due by February 19. The Trump administration has routinely argued that the policy restricting gun ownership by people who use cannabis, even in compliance with state law, “targets a category of persons who pose a clear danger of misusing firearm” and should be upheld. After several years of conflicting lower court rulings on related cases, justices granted cert in *U.S. v. Hemani *to settle the question of whether the ban—known as Section 922(g)(3)—is consistent with the Second Amendment. Meanwhile, a coalition of gun rights organizations recently urged the Supreme Court to expand its examination of the constitutionality of the federal firearm ban for cannabis consumers—telling justices that a recent case on the issue it accepted would not properly settle the question of the current law’s constitutionality. The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and five other gun rights advocacy groups filed an amici brief last week in a separate case on the issue pending before the justices. With respect to *Hemani*, in a separate August filing for the case, the Justice Department also emphasized that “the question presented is the subject of a multi-sided and growing circuit conflict.” In seeking the court’s grant of cert, the solicitor general also noted that the defendant is a joint American and Pakistani citizen with alleged ties to Iranian entities hostile to the U.S., putting him the FBI’s radar. Now that the Supreme Court has agreed to take up *Hemani*, if justices declare 922(g)(3) constitutional, such a ruling could could mean government wins in the remaining cases. The high court last month denied a petition for cert in *U.S. v. Cooper*, while leaving pending decisions on *U.S. v. Daniels* and *U.S. v. Sam*. The court also recently denied a petition for cert in another gun and marijuana case, *U.S. v. Baxter, *but that wasn’t especially surprising as both DOJ and the defendants advised against further pursing the matter after a lower court reinstated his conviction for being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm. Meanwhile, in recent interviews with Marijuana Moment, several Republican senators shared their views on the federal ban on gun possession by people who use marijuana—with one saying that if alcohol drinkers can lawfully buy and use firearms, the same standard should apply to cannabis consumers. Separately, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit earlier this year sided with a federal district court that dismissed an indictment against Jared Michael Harrison, who was charged in Oklahoma in 2022 after police discovered cannabis and a handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop. The case has now been remanded to that lower court, which determined that the current statute banning “unlawful” users of marijuana from possessing firearms violates the Second Amendment of the Constitution. The lower court largely based his initial decision on an interpretation of a Supreme Court ruling in which the justices generally created a higher standard for policies that seek to impose restrictions on gun rights. Separately, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh District, judges recently ruled in favor of medical cannabis patients who want to exercise their Second Amendment rights to possess firearms. As a recent report from the Congressional Research Service (CRS) explained the current legal landscape, a growing number of federal courts are now “finding constitutional problems in the application of at least some parts” of the firearms prohibition. In a recent ruling, a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit vacated a defendant’s conviction and remanded the case back to a district court, noting that a retrial before a jury may be necessary to determine whether cannabis in fact caused the defendant to be dangerous or pose a credible threat to others. The Third Circuit separately said in a published opinion that district courts must make “individualized judgments” to determine whether 922(g)(3) is constitutional as applied to particular defendants. A federal judge in El Paso separately ruled late last year that the government’s ongoing ban on gun ownership by habitual marijuana users is unconstitutional in the case of a defendant who earlier pleaded guilty to the criminal charge. The court allowed the man to withdraw the plea and ordered that the indictment against him be dismissed. DOJ has claimed in multiple federal cases over the past several years that the statute banning cannabis consumers from owning or possessing guns is constitutional because it’s consistent with the nation’s history of disarming “dangerous” individuals. In 2023, for example, the Justice Department told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit that historical precedent “comfortably” supports the restriction. Cannabis consumers with guns pose a unique danger to society, the Biden administration claimed, in part because they’re “unlikely” to store their weapon properly. Meanwhile, some states have passed their own laws either further restricting or attempting to preserve gun rights as they relate to marijuana. Recently a Pennsylvania lawmaker introduced a bill meant to remove state barriers to medical marijuana patients carrying firearms. Colorado activists also attempted to qualify an initiative for November’s ballot that would have protected the Second Amendment rights of marijuana consumers in that state, but the campaign’s signature-gathering drive ultimately fell short. As 2024 drew to a close, the ATF issued a warning to Kentucky residents that, if they choose to participate in the state’s medical marijuana program that’s set to launch imminently, they will be prohibited from buying or possessing firearms under federal law. The official said that while people who already own firearms aren’t “expected to” turn them over if they become state-legal cannabis patients, those who “wish to follow federal law and not be in violation of it” must “make the decision to divest themselves of those firearms.” Since then, bipartisan state lawmakers have introduced legislation that would urge Kentucky’s representatives in Congress to amend federal law to clarify that users of medical marijuana may legally possess firearms, though no action has since been taken on that bill. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) said in January that he supported the legislature’s effort to urge the state’s congressional delegation to call for federal reforms to protect the Second Amendment rights of medical marijuana patients, but the governor added that he’d like to see even more sweeping change on the federal level.
