  • Op-Ed: Launching My Cannabis Brand in West Virginia After Prison Time for Medical Grow | Toker's Guide

The author, Ryan Basore, a former federal prisoner for medical cannabis cultivation, launched Redemption Cannabis and the Redemption Foundation. His cannabis brand is now available in West Virginia, where he was incarcerated. The Redemption Foundation provides expungements and financial support to non-violent cannabis offenders still in prison, partnering with organizations like Mission Green and the Last Prisoner Project. Basore emphasizes that despite widespread legalization, many people remain incarcerated for cannabis offenses, and federal law, which classifies cannabis as a Schedule I drug, needs to change for true justice. He states that 10% of Redemption Cannabis licensing revenue supports incarcerated individuals and their release, highlighting that buying their products contributes to the pursuit of justice. < Back Op-Ed: Launching My Cannabis Brand in West Virginia After Prison Time for Medical Grow Jul 11, 2025 Source: Marijuana Moment Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Ryan Basore, a former federal prisoner who served time for legal medical cultivation in Michigan, has brought his journey full circle by launching Redemption Cannabis in Morgantown, West Virginia—the very town where he was once incarcerated. This isn't just about selling flower; Basore’s mission is centered on restorative justice. Through the Redemption Foundation, he directs 10% of licensing revenue toward supporting non-violent cannabis prisoners, funding thousands of expungements and providing essential commissary funds to those still behind bars. This story hits home for the cannabis community because it highlights the massive gap between corporate profits and social justice. While many are making millions, others are still stuck in cells for the same plant. For regular tokers, supporting brands like this means your purchase goes beyond a great high—it directly helps right the wrongs of the past and supports the pioneers who paved the way. It’s a powerful reminder that true progress in the industry isn’t just about retail access, but about ensuring no one is left behind in the transition to legalization. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. • Virginia Advocates Push for Fair Play and Full Shelves Before Legal Sales Kick Off | Toker's Guide

During a Virginia CCA Board meeting, stakeholders urged regulators to address gaps in the state's adult-use cannabis rollout, including equity licensing, supply chain timing, and workforce readiness. < Back Virginia Advocates Push for Fair Play and Full Shelves Before Legal Sales Kick Off Apr 15, 2026 Source: Editorial Staff Outlaw Report Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Virginia is standing on the edge of a major green revolution, but as the state gears up for its full adult-use launch, community members are making sure the foundation is built the right way. During a recent meeting with the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority, folks from all corners of the industry stepped up to point out some critical areas that need a little more love before the doors officially swing open. One of the biggest topics on the table is making sure the market is fair for everyone. This means moving beyond simple lotteries and finding real ways to prioritize licenses for those most impacted by past enforcement. For those of us who just want to enjoy the plant, a diverse market is a huge plus—it leads to more unique strains, better local vibes, and a community that actually reflects the people living in it. The conversation also touched on some of the "behind the scenes" tech stuff, like making sure different tracking systems can actually talk to each other. While that sounds a bit dry, it’s actually vital for us as consumers. When the tech works, dispensaries can keep their shelves stocked and ensure every product is tested and safe. There’s also a push to get cultivation and processing moving early. This is a savvy move because nobody wants to walk into a grand opening only to find empty jars or sky-high prices due to a shortage. By planning the supply chain now, the state can ensure a smooth transition from the legacy market to a legal one where quality flower is affordable and accessible. As we look toward a January 2027 start date, the best thing you can do is stay informed and keep supporting your local advocates. A well-regulated market means more transparency, safer products, and a stronger community for every enthusiast in the Commonwealth. It’s an exciting time to be part of the scene in Virginia! < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co. This long-lasting hybrid eventually transitions into a comfortable state of physical relaxation that provides significant relief for chronic pain and a lack of appetite without causing immediate heavy sedation. Its terpene profile is led by terpinolene, which provides its signature woody Haze aroma; caryophyllene, which contributes spicy notes and potential anti-inflammatory benefits; and myrcene, which adds earthy sweetness and facilitates a creeping physical relaxation. This is layered with deep notes of black pepper and subtle hints of wood and sandalwood. Flavor On the exhale, the flavor is intensely woody and spicy. Users often report a nutty, peppery taste with a lingering floral sweetness that balances the savory, incense-heavy profile. Lineage This strain is a genetic cross between Amnesia Haze and AMS. While Amnesia Haze provides the soaring sativa energy, AMS contributes shorter flowering times and increased resistance to mold and pests. Cultivation Preferences - Flowering Time: Approximately 9 to 10 weeks indoors. - Yield: High, with indoor yields reaching up to 900g/m2 and outdoor plants producing up to 1000g per plant. - Environment: It performs well in both soil and hydro setups. Seed Suppliers Authentic feminized seeds are primarily available through Green House Seed Co. and their Strain Hunters Seeds label, as well as major international distributors like Attitude Seedbank and Seedsman. • Bipartisan Senators Seek Delay on Hemp Ban While Exploring Regulation | Toker's Guide

A bipartisan group of senators filed the Hemp Planting Predictability Act to delay the federal ban on hemp THC products by two years, hoping to negotiate a compromise before the ban takes effect this November. The new legislation also proposes a stricter definition for legal hemp, applying the THC limit to total THC (including isomers like delta-8), limiting products to 0.4 milligrams per container of total THC, and banning certain intermediate cannabinoid products. < Back Bipartisan Senators Seek Delay on Hemp Ban While Exploring Regulation Jan 16, 2026 Source: Tom Angell Marijuana Moment Article Link Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link A bipartisan coalition of senators is fighting to save the hemp industry from a looming federal crackdown. The proposed "Hemp Planting Predictability Act" aims to delay a ban on hemp-derived THC products—currently set for this November—by an additional two years. This breather would give business owners and advocates more time to negotiate fair regulations rather than facing a total wipeout. While the legislation suggests stricter definitions for legal hemp, including a 0.4mg THC cap per container, it represents a vital effort to protect a sector that has flourished since the 2018 Farm Bill. For everyday enthusiasts, this is a major win. It keeps popular, accessible products on the shelves while preventing the "hemp chaos" that would occur if a massive part of the market vanished overnight. Supporting these delays ensures that farmers and small businesses aren't crushed by sudden prohibition, keeping the community's options diverse and affordable. It's a reminder that even in DC, common sense can prevail when enough people stand up for the plants we love. < Previous Next > Recent Reviews Bomb Popz Infused Pre-Roll - Fade Co.
