Overview
Ultra Sour, bred by THSeeds, is a tart and invigorating sativa-dominant hybrid hailing from Amsterdam. By crossing the heavy-hitting MK Ultra with the legendary East Coast Sour Diesel, THSeeds created a cultivar known for its potent cerebral effects and distinct citrus-fuel profile.
Effects
Ultra Sour is a potent sativa-dominant hybrid that delivers immediate and intense cerebral stimulation, characterized by a rush of euphoria and creative energy. Because of its high THC content and heady effects, it is an excellent choice for daytime use to enhance focus or social engagement, though its potency can be daunting for inexperienced users. It is highly effective for alleviating stress, fatigue, and depression, helping users wash away the day's worries with a sharp, piney zest. The strain's complex terpene profile is led by terpinolene, which provides woody and floral notes with potential antioxidant properties, and caryophyllene, which adds a spicy kick and assists with stress relief. Additionally, myrcene contributes to the earthy scent and regulates the intensity of the high, while limonene enhances the sharp citrus aroma and promotes an uplifted mood.

Appearance
This strain produces deep green, tapered buds that are densely packed and coated in a sticky layer of resinous trichomes. Contrasting against the dark foliage are thin, rusty orange pistils that weave throughout the flower.
Aroma
Ultra Sour lives up to its name with a pungent, sharp profile. It is dominated by a heavy diesel scent and piney undertones, which are complemented by a sour, lemon-lime zest that becomes more apparent when the buds are broken apart.
Flavor
The taste is a complex blend of earthy pine and sharp citrus. On the inhale, users typically experience a tart, chemically sour flavor reminiscent of its Sour Diesel heritage, followed by a woody, herbal finish on the exhale.
Lineage
The genetic backbone of Ultra Sour is a cross between MK Ultra (G13 x OG Kush) and East Coast Sour Diesel. This combination results in a sativa-dominant profile that balances the hypnotic power of MK Ultra with the energizing buzz of Sour Diesel.
Terpene Profile
- Terpinolene: Provides the signature woody and floral notes with potential antioxidant properties.
- Caryophyllene: Adds a spicy, peppery kick and may assist with stress relief.
- Myrcene: Contributes to the underlying earthy scent and helps regulate the intensity of the high.
- Limonene: Enhances the sharp citrus aroma and promotes an uplifted mood.Effects
Ultra Sour is renowned for its immediate and intense cerebral stimulation. It provides a rush of euphoria and creative energy, making it a popular choice for daytime use. However, its high THC content and potent mental effects can be overwhelming for novice consumers, occasionally causing anxiety if the dosage is not managed carefully. It is highly effective for alleviating stress, fatigue, and depression.
Cultivation Preferences
This strain is considered moderately difficult to grow and thrives in both indoor and outdoor environments, though it prefers a stable, Mediterranean-style climate. - Flowering Time: Approximately 9 to 10 weeks.
- Yield: Moderate to high, rewarding growers with chunky, resinous colas.
- Maintenance: It tends to stretch significantly during the early flowering phase, so techniques like topping or LST (Low Stress Training) are recommended to manage height.Origin
The strain was developed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, by the established breeders at THSeeds, who are famous for bringing West Coast genetics to the European market.
Seed Suppliers
Authentic feminized and regular seeds can be sourced directly from THSeeds, as well as major international distributors such as Seedsman, Attitude Seedbank, and North Atlantic Seed Co.
Conclusion
Ultra Sour is a top-tier choice for sativa enthusiasts seeking a powerful, flavor-forward experience. While its intensity requires respect, it remains a favorite for those looking to enhance their creativity or simply wash away the stresses of the day with a sharp, piney zest.
