According to a new poll from NuggMD, an overwhelming 82% of cannabis users are pushing back against a federal hemp THC ban signed by President Trump. While the administration is moving forward with rescheduling marijuana to Schedule III and expanding CBD access for seniors, this new legislation effectively recriminalizes the hemp-derived THC market that has flourished since the 2018 Farm Bill. Only 4% of consumers surveyed actually support the prohibition, which many industry insiders fear will dismantle the hemp sector entirely.
This pushback highlights a major disconnect between DC politicians and the community. For everyday tokers, hemp-derived products have provided a legal, accessible alternative in areas where traditional dispensaries aren't an option. Reverting to prohibition on these products doesn't just hurt small businesses; it limits the choices and safety of consumers who have relied on this legal framework for years. As the industry matures, it’s vital that we keep these pathways open for everyone, ensuring that progress toward rescheduling doesn't come at the cost of the hemp community's freedom.
