Kentucky Medical Cannabis Access Expanding As Second Dispensary Opens
Jan 16, 2026

Medical cannabis access expanded this week in Kentucky with the opening of
the state’s second dispensary, Speakeasy Dispensary, in Lexington, WDRB
reports.
The state’s first processor, Bison Infused, in Dayton, also recently
opened, meaning the state’s medical cannabis program is now fully
operational, with cultivation, processing, testing, and retail facilities
all open for business.
“I’m proud to say that Team Kentucky has launched every step of the
process. From the cultivators who grow the plant, to the processors, safety
compliance facilities, and dispensaries, we now have at least one of each
of those categories open and operating in Kentucky.” — Gov. Andy Beshear,
in a statement
Meanwhile, the state’s first medical cannabis dispensary, The Post
Dispensary in Beaver Dam, opened on December 13 but sold all of its
products within two weeks and had to close down temporarily.
The Post Dispensary is set to reopen on Friday, January 16, WKU Public Radio
reports.
Kentucky’s medical cannabis program now includes four licensed cultivators,
two dispensaries, one processor, and two testing labs. Licensed medical
practitioners have approved more than 17,000 patients for the program.
