Marijuana Moment

The Senate is taking a stand for medical marijuana, advancing a spending bill that keeps federal protections for state-level programs firmly in place. While the House tried to sneak in a proposal to block the Department of Justice from rescheduling cannabis, the Senate thankfully left that out. This is a huge win for the community because it keeps the door open for moving weed to Schedule III, even as the DEA drags its feet under the new administration. Curiously, Nebraska was left off the protection list, which is a bit of a head-scratcher for patients there.

This matters to everyday tokers because it means the feds can't use their budget to mess with legal state markets. Rescheduling would finally let businesses take tax deductions, potentially lowering prices and increasing variety for you. While the political maneuvering can feel like a slow burn, keeping these protections alive ensures that the progress we’ve made toward accessibility isn’t rolled back. It’s a sign that even in a shifting political climate, the momentum for reform is too strong to ignore.
