Marijuana Moment

Virginia is finally moving toward a legit retail cannabis market. Lawmakers just cleared a major hurdle, approving bills to launch adult-use sales and create a path for resentencing past convictions. Under the House plan, we could see dispensaries opening as early as November 1, while the Senate is eyeing a 2027 start. The proposed rules would allow adults to snag up to 2.5 ounces per trip, with delivery services and labor protections for workers baked in.

This is massive for the community because it signals an end to the "legal to own, illegal to buy" limbo that’s frustrated Virginia tokers since 2021. Beyond just convenience, the focus on resentencing and equity shows the state is serious about righting past wrongs rather than just chasing tax revenue. For everyday enthusiasts, this means safer, lab-tested access and a stronger, fairer cannabis culture. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the new Governor stays the course to finally bring retail to the Commonwealth.
