It's so good that, who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind and hop on that bandwagon afterall. 🤔 Appearance This batch of Runtz is straight up sexy. However, this batch leaned more indica heavy in my experience. Effects This is a seriously potent batch of Runtz that has been my go-to for before bed all week. Instantly, a calming and relaxing mental state began - great for letting go after a long day. This was accompanied by a state of euphoria that took over my body. The name itself evokes strong imagery—like the gassy fumes of a high-performance engine or some sort of nickname for a guy that spends all day turning a wrench in a garage. Its heavy-hitting nature, super-charged effects, and complex high octane flavor profile all more than justify the name. Shamefully, I might have missed it if my awesomely knowledgable budtender, Kisha, hadn't pointed it out as a new arrival and one not to miss out on. I thought I knew of all the Alt Sol varietals that were currently parked on shelves around DC, but this one caught me by surprise and has since raced its way right into my heart. 🏍️💨 Appearance Motorbreath’s buds are nothing short of striking. - Apollo 22 by CULTA (Baltimore, Maryland)
Strain : Apollo 22 Dispensary : CULTA, Baltimore Market : Maryland Recreational Overall Rating : 8.8/10 Lean : Hybrid Initial Thoughts When I encounter space-themed cannabis strains my expectations naturally ascend skyward. However, it's all too often that these high aspirations end up crashing back down to Earth. CULTA 's Apollo 22, on the other hand, doesn't merely reach orbit—it propels you on a full-blown galactic journey. So, buckle up and prepare for liftoff; we're about to explore a cosmic experience curated by Maryland's own CULTA dispensary in Baltimore. 🚀 Appearance Regular readers (and my ego assures me there are many) know my fondness for looser trims, which preserve those precious trichomes like nature's tiny, sticky diamonds. CULTA's Apollo 22 did precisely that, boasting dense, glittery nuggets visible without magnification. Under a desk lamp's glow, the trichomes sparkled enticingly, drawing me into a prolonged, borderline obsessive examination through my loupe. Slightly drier than its batch-mates due to an earlier packaging date, the flower was nonetheless ideally textured for grinding and rolling. Status Fresh. Aroma If Apollo 22 is the spacecraft, its aroma profile is undoubtedly the rocket fuel propelling it toward the stars. I sniffed obsessively at the jar, dissecting chemical and gassy notes like a scent-obsessed bloodhound. Waves of hand sanitizer, facial astringent, and aftershave stung my nostrils (in the most enjoyable way possible), eventually balanced by subtler hints of leather, cedar wood, and refreshing lemon zest. Fans of CULTA's beloved Do-Si-Dos 22 lineage will recognize and applaud this aromatic intensity from the very first jar-crack. Flavor Considering the punchy aroma, I eagerly anticipated the flavor. The initial hit delivered an electrifying metallic jolt—think licking a 9-volt battery (please, don't ask). Soon after, flavors elegantly transitioned into rich notes of nut butter and genuine chocolate, evolving further toward deep leather and cedar chips. As my joint approached its finale, a surprising coriander note emerged distinctly, rounding out the experience with an unexpected but welcome twist. Each layer was easily discernible, transforming the smoke into an enjoyable palate adventure. Lineage The Apollo 22 strain is a balanced hybrid and a cross of Space Walker x Do-Si-Dos 22. Effects True to the mission’s theme, Apollo 22’s high launched rapidly, gently elevating my mental state to a clear, balanced orbit of focus and creativity. This strain doesn't send you floating aimlessly in space; instead, it grants you enough clarity and energy to pilot your day efficiently. - Forbidden Fruit Cake - gLeaf, Colonial Heights (VA Medical)
Strain : Forbidden Fruit Cake Dispensary: gLeaf - Colonial Heights Market: VA Medical Cannabis Overall Rating: 8.3/10 Lean: Indica Dominant Hybrid Initial Thoughts One of my favorite parts about cannabis is how specific terpene profiles recreate scents that are already so familiar to us. In this case, Forbidden Fruit Cake has one of the most instantly recognizable scents. Pulling heavy from its grandparent, Tangie, this strain smells like a bushel of oranges with freshly squeezed orange juice poured over top of them - very citrusy and fruit forward for sure. I was able to get my hands on this Seed and Strain cultivated varietal at gLeaf's new location in Colonial Heights , Virginia. They recently opened and are ready to serve the nearby areas of Hopewell, Prince George, and Petersburg as well. Let's go VA! Appearance These sparkling buds are shining with trichomes and are mostly shades of darker and lighter green. Spots of purple are polka dotted randomly throughout, and the few pistils that are present are a dark burnt orange. Structure Smaller but solid and dense buds. Status Dried, cured, and stored correctly. Aroma A heavy orange aroma instantly fills the room after opening the jar. It’s a very distinct smell and is pleasant on the nose. Flavor The flavor is on par with the aroma. It tastes like oranges and leaves a sweet citrus aftertaste. Lineage Forbidden Fruit Cake is a indica dominant hybrid cross of Wedding Cake and Forbidden Fruit, but, in my experience with this batch the effects are notably more balanced than the indica lean might suggest. Effects Users can expect to feel happy and extra giggly. I caught myself laughing at nothing a few times and almost everything was funny to me. My happy mood remained constant while a light uplifting feeling took over my body. These long lasting and lingering effects kept me settled for a while and didn’t have me rushing back to re-medicate. Conclusion From my experience you can never go wrong when it comes to a wedding cake crossbreed, but in this case the added orange citrus zest makes it even more worthwhile. Seed and Strain did an awesome job sourcing the genetics on this one and I hope it's one they keep accessible because the smells and flavors are worth it for everyone to experience. I love the fact that gLeaf is expanding its presence in its respective health district. With the addition of their newest dispensary in Colonial Heights we will see more patients gaining access to the medicine we all know and love. I’m hoping eventually the Board of Pharmacy will approve and allow additional dispensaries in each health district to help boost competition. Until then, I'll just remain happy that our choices are expanding. When you head over to gLeaf to pick-up some Forbidden Fruit Cake for yourself don't forget to let them know you heard about it here on Toker's Guide!
