  • Poonesia by CULTA (Baltimore, Maryland)

Strain : Poonesia Dispensary : CULTA, Baltimore   Market : Maryland Recreational Overall Rating : 8.9/10 Lean : Balanced Hybrid Initial Thoughts Let's be real—Poonesia might be one of the funniest strain names to hit Maryland dispensaries, and it demands an explanation. Is it a play on Poochie Love, its notable parent strain? Is it a subtle nod to its effects, which might transport you to a blissfully dazed mental vacation? Or did someone at CULTA just decide to have a little fun with this release? Whatever the case, the hype is real, and getting my hands on some of CULTA’s in-house genetics before they hit the market felt like being invited to the cool kids' table in high school—except this time, I actually  belong here. CULTA has already built a dedicated following with Poochie Love, and by crossing it with Amnesia OG, they’ve created something fresh while still keeping that classic funk that made the original so popular. With 4% terpenes, insane trichome coverage, and an aroma that practically jumps out of the jar, Poonesia demands attention from the moment you crack the seal. Appearance One of the biggest perks of snagging this batch was how fresh it was—packaged just five days before I picked it up. That meant the trichomes were perfectly intact, preserving every bit of flavor, aroma, and potency. Under a jeweler’s loupe, the trichome coverage exceeded 75%, with the heads fully developed and bursting with resin. The bud structure was true to CULTA’s meticulous cultivation—dense yet naturally formed, with deep greens and fiery orange pistils giving it an eye-catching contrast. The trim was a bit looser than some might prefer, but personally, I’ll take a little extra leaf over something that looks like it was put through a chainsaw any day. Status Fresh. Aroma From the moment I cracked the jar, the OG lineage announced itself loud and clear—with the subtlety of a firework. The first wave of terps delivered a rush of fresh leather, dried pine needles, petrichor (that earthy "after the rain" smell), and wet riverbank. As the aromas settled, the undertones evolved into something deceptively complex. Hints of vanilla frosting, fresh corn flakes, and cake dough made their way into the mix, adding a surprisingly sweet twist to an otherwise bold and earthy profile. This sneaky complexity had me sticking my nose back in the jar repeatedly, trying to catch one more note before sealing it up again. Flavor If the aroma was a journey, the flavor was a full-blown expedition. A lot of the earthy, pine, and leather notes from the nose carried over seamlessly, but the sweet elements faded into the background, making way for a rich, savory experience. The first hit hit like a cup of espresso, with robust coffee, raw chocolate, and a sharp bite of peppered beef jerky dominating the profile. As the joint burned down, new layers emerged, turning each hit into an evolving experience. The exhale was thick and smooth, leaving behind a lingering matcha-like finish that coated my tongue long after the smoke cleared. I found myself checking in on the flavor so often that I burned through more of the joint than expected—a clear sign of an engaging smoking experience. Lineage Poonesia is a hybrid strain created by crossing: Poochie Love Amnesia OG This carefully selected pairing blends mental stimulation with physical relaxation, creating a strain that’s adaptable to different moods and activities. Effects The label classifies Poonesia as a hybrid, but the effects had a bit more range than your typical middle-of-the-road strain. Mental Effects: The high starts with a rush of creative energy, sharpening focus just enough to keep you engaged without making you jittery. Tasks felt effortless, and my thoughts flowed naturally, without feeling scattered or overwhelming. Physical Effects: While my mind was active and stimulated, my body felt calm and grounded, thanks to the elevated Pinene content. Some people might hesitate when they hear high Pinene, but the other terpenes balance it out beautifully, preventing any overactive mental loops. Overall Sensation: Nothing felt forced. Time didn’t slow down or speed up, everything just flowed naturally. If I was focused on something, I stayed focused. If I wanted to zone out, I could do that too. It was a choose-your-own-adventure kind of high, and I was all in. Conclusion Poonesia lives up to the CULTA reputation, delivering a deep, complex experience that captures the best of both parent strains. The aroma alone is enough to keep you coming back, but the flavor and balanced effects make it something special. CULTA has once again proven why they remain one of the most respected names in Maryland cannabis, and Poonesia is further proof of their genetic expertise. Much appreciation to the crew at CULTA for letting me get my hands on this batch before it hits dispensaries, and a special shoutout to my budtender Tony at their Baltimore location for the help with everything as well! If you see Poonesia on the shelf, just know—you're about to embark on a wild, flavor-packed ride. And honestly, who wouldn’t want to say they smoked Poonesia? *Medical cannabis is for certified/qualifying patients only. Must be at least 21+ years old to view content.

Strain : Moon Fog Breeder : Humboldt Seed Company Market : Virginia Homegrown (Richmond) Overall Rating : 9.3/10 Lean : Indica Dominant Initial Thoughts  Moon Fog is a strain that has gained quite the reputation in many online forums, grower's podcasts and old smoker’s tables around the country. This indica-dominant strain was bred by Humboldt Seed Company and is one of their newest offerings. It's known to carry a well balanced euphoric high and in some smoke circles is becoming a go to nighttime strain.   Appearance   Absolutely stunning bag appeal! The rich colors pop when the light hits them. The frosty nugs show beautiful silver and light-purple coloring with flashes of orange hairs throughout. This isn’t a strain to break down too far; leaving the nugs bulky and intact lets you experience how it looked on the plant. Crack one open and a beautifully green hue reveals a sticky, trichome-bomb center.  Status  Jar-stable and cured over 3–4 weeks by what appears to be an expert in the field. A wonderful trim job that isn’t overdone, leaving every bit of frost, color, and bag appeal intact.  Aroma   In the jar it’s gassy, with baby powder and cream notes. Breaking it up brings a floral punch that is waiting inside.  Flavor  In a clean glass piece, the octane comes through more when the nugs are less broken up. However, this weed is great for nighttime joint enthusiasts. The floral notes inside the buds pairs perfectly with a chamomile tea. If you ever get a chance to try Moon Fog, take your time and break it up with your fingers.  Lineage  Moon Fog × P. Face OG × High Octane or (Moon Fog × P. Face OG) × High Octane. Face OG, and that hybrid was then crossed with High Octane.  Effects  At first onset, the high starts in the body with great muscle relaxation and noticeable pain relief. It's a balanced hybrid that has been making waves for its combination of immensely fruity sweetness and gassy undertones, and I was eager to see if it lived up to the buzz. Spoiler alert: I wasn’t disappointed. Let’s dive into what makes this strain a delightful addition to the Grassroots lineup! Aroma From the moment the seal cracked open, it felt like I had been hit by a citrusy freight train of fruity goodness. The initial burst of lemon cleaner and pine was so sharp and invigorating, it was like my nostrils had just walked into a spa run by forest elves. Breaking down the buds only intensified the sensory overload—notes of orange zest mingled with a sweet symphony of pie crust, powdered sugar, honey, and even grape Kool-Aid powder. It became abundantly clear why the Grassroots team decided to keep Tarts on heavy rotation—this aroma is a showstopper! 👃👌 Appearance The trichome coverage on these buds was mesmerizing, like each nug had been dipped in a layer of powdered sugar and then lightly rolled in fairy dust. The greens ranged from a soft, springtime light green to a rich, deep forest hue, all accented by whispers of purple and fiery orange stigma. Honestly, it looked so pristine that breaking it apart felt almost criminal—but not criminal enough to stop me. Sometimes you’ve got to destroy beauty to enjoy it. Flavor If the aroma set the stage, the flavor absolutely stole the show. The first hit introduced a sharp, gassy sweetness, like sniffing permanent marker (in the best way possible) but with a sugary kick. A dry, chalk-dust sensation coated my tongue, which somehow paired beautifully with the grape Kool-Aid vibe I caught earlier—now more of a grape hard candy flavor. The exhale was the pièce de résistance: a cool wave of minty bubble gum that lingered long after the smoke cleared. This strain doesn’t just dance on your taste buds; it stages a full-blown musical. The constantly evolving aroma (sweet, chemmy, and earthy all at once) and the minty fruit exhale were just the cherries—or grapes?—on top. If you’re on the hunt for something new to jazz up your stash or just looking for a flavor-packed smoke that delivers across the board, do yourself a favor and grab some Tarts at Curaleaf ASAP. • Pink Passion - Goldflower, Largo (Florida Medical)

Strain : Pink Passion Dispensary : Goldflower Largo Market : Florida Medical Overall Rating : 9.3/10 Lean : Balanced Hybrid Initial Thoughts At Goldflower Dispensary in Largo, Florida, this Pink Passion caught my eye for its understated elegance—medium spear-shaped buds in a deep purple shade, lightly threaded with orange hairs and coated in a moderate layer of clear trichomes that give it a subtle, sticky sheen. Grown indoors by DH Farms under Doghouse's banner, this hybrid clocks in at 23.6% total THC, hinting at a session that's engaging but not exhausting. Status Fresh Aroma The jar releases a composed fruit profile: tangy notes lead with apple and banana undertones, brightened by a lemon edge that's sharp but not overwhelming. It settles into a mild earthy base, powered by myrcene at 1.73% and ocimene for depth, with a-pinene and linalool (0.236%) contributing a clean herbal note and faint floral trace. With 3.85% total terpenes, it's inviting without being aggressive—a scent that rewards a second inhale. Flavor On the draw, it delivers the aroma's promise: a tangy fruit forwardness with lemon's clean zip, easing into a creamy sourdough nuance that's surprisingly smooth. It's straightforward and satisfying, the kind of profile that improves with each hit rather than demanding attention. Lineage Bred from Apples & Bananas and Sourdough 1, Pink Passion inherits a vibrant fruitiness from the former—those crisp, layered sweets—and a grounded, tangy complexity from the latter, evoking fresh-baked warmth. This cross yields a hybrid that's balanced in its terpene expression, blending playful highs with reliable structure for a strain that feels thoughtfully assembled rather than haphazard. Effects The onset is mental and measured: a focused clarity emerges, honing thoughts without pushing into overdrive—suitable for Largo's midday rhythm, whether tackling tasks or simply observing the world sharper. Physically, it introduces a quiet relaxation, loosening knots in the shoulders and limbs with CBG (0.15%) and minimal CBD (0.113%) keeping things light. It's effective for presence without sedation, turning ordinary time into something quietly productive.
