  • Sparkly Biscuit - Mother Blossom

Initial Thoughts I'd never heard of Sparkly Biscuit before so I was eager to open the, may I say, beautiful pink glass jar from DC i-71 storefront, Mother Blossom, and examine this flower specimen. What I found inside was nothing short of gorgeous in terms of bud structure, trichomes, freshness and aroma. In fact, it was so sparkly (like a disco ball 🪩) I think the term Disco Biscuit might have been a better name. Unfortunately, that one's already taken for some other things. 😉 Appearance Green buds with patches of purple, bright orange hairs, and a heavy layer of white and starry trichomes. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma Sweet, gassy, and creamy with hints of something bready like a sugar cookie or...wait for it...biscuit. Flavor Creamy, sweet, and gassy with a hint of chem on the exhale - much like fresh Wedding Cake or Gelato 33. Lineage We can't find much on "Sparkly Biscuits", but the Sugar Biscuit strain is a cross of Animal Cookies and Dosidos that runs indica dominant. We think this one is very much like some excellent batches of Sugar Biscuits we've seen in the past. Effects Deeply calming and sedative this one comes on strong and fast leaving you in a state of mesmerizing bliss. Great for evenings and before bed, it's hard to deny the eye-squinting, heavily stoned feeling of this great indica hybrid. Conclusion As the waves of euphoria from the joint began to wash over me it became clear that I may not be able to get up again for a while if I don't make my way to the fridge immediately. Then, in a moment of serendipity, I noticed that the thing I sought most upon inspection of the refrigerator's contents was leftover cinnamon raisin biscuits with icing. I may or may not have spent the next 15 minutes eating them all, cold, and while sitting on the floor. In sum, this is a highly potent indica that can bake even the most prodigious stoners. To experience these Sparkly Biscuits for yourself just head to Mother Blossom today and don't forget to mention that you heard about them on Toker's Guide!

  • Lemon Poppers - MASC

Initial Thoughts This batch of Lemon Poppers from DC i-71 storefront, MASC, is a deliciously cheesy, sour citrus smelling varietal that will pick you up cerebrally, but bring calming vibes to your body. As such it's sort of the perfect party strain - active socially, but warm and welcoming with a glowing body high. I guess you could say it's good for getting things...poppin'. 😂🤦‍♂️ Appearance Slender, fluffy, light green buds with lots of white trichome coverage. Status Curing, but the aroma and flavor are still on point. Aroma Sour lemon mixed with a creamy cheese plus hints of earth and pepper. Flavor Funky cheese and sour citrus with hints of gas and earth. Lineage The Lemon Poppers strain is a cross of Lemon Tree and Gelato 41 that runs evenly balanced at 50/50. Effects This is a strain that can be a bit confusing - in a good way - at first. Your mind will get energized, and you might become more talkative, but eventually you'll probably want to sit down and enjoy the body high to its fullest. The uplifting vibes seem to recur every time you pull another hit, but it's not hard to take on a restful disposition if needed. Conclusion Overall, this is a highly versatile strain that can be used nearly any time of day. Just expect some energetic flows at onset and don't underestimate how pungent the lemon cheesiness can be. To experience Lemon Poppers for yourself just head to MASC asap and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gary Payton - Giving Tree

Initial Thoughts Amidst the NBA playoffs I feel it's only fitting that we should review a really nice specimen of Gary Payton currently available from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, Giving Tree. It's also appropriate that Payton's namesake strain would be a balanced hybrid featuring the best characteristics from both its indica and sativa influences, especially given his excellence as a versatile player know for his offensive and defensive capabilities. Appearance Green buds with patches of purple, burnt orange hairs, and a frosty layer of white and starry trichomes. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma Sweet, gassy, and bready with hints of exotic spices. Flavor Very flavorful and rich with a gassy, breadiness that is hard to place. More savory than sweet. Lineage The Gary Payton strain is a cross of They and Snowman cultivars that runs evenly balanced at 50/50. Effects Many people find this strain uplifting and euphoric with a great body buzz and cerebral focus - this is precisely how this batch presents. There's enough energetic forces to keep you moving throughout the day, but also a strong stoney aspect that keeps you mellow and cheerful. I've also found it great for recovering from muscle soreness and hangovers. Conclusion Gary Payton the player was sometimes referred to as "The Glove" for his phenomenal defensive skills. Intriguingly, this nickname applies to the eponymous cannabis strain as well given the palpable feels of the euphoric body high. While we're at it, if we can argue that Gary should have been named MVP for some of his most epic years of play, then maybe we can call this bud "Most Valuable Strain" (MVS) as a nod to his efforts on the court. To check out this MVS for yourself just visit Giving Tree today and don't forget to let them know that Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Blue Slushie - Cannabear DC

Initial Thoughts When I went to the pool as a kid in the summertime there was a 7-11 across the street that we would all walk to in order to get slushies and beat the heat. My favorite was the blue flavor - blue raspberry to be precise - and I still remember how awesome it was walking back to the pool fighting brain freezes the whole way. Fast forward to today and sometimes cannabis experiences can help bring back similar feelings of joy. This Blue Slushie from DC i-71 cannabis delivery service, Cannabear, possesses the same cheerful and delicious vibes, but without any risk of brain freeze. 🥶 Appearance Bright green and blue-ish purple trichome covered buds that are somewhat fluffy in nature. Status Just beginning to cure. Aroma A combo of sweet berry, citrus, with hints of gas and cream. Flavor Hard-hitting with a heavy sugary, bready, and berry flavor. There are also hints of cream and sour fruit. Lineage The Blue Slushie strain (aka Blue Slush) is a cross of Blue Sherbet, Blue Cookies, and Sunset Sherbet that runs evenly balanced at 50/50. Effects This buzz comes on fast and hits hard in the head with cerebral energy that eventually levels out into a calm, but not sedative, euphoric body buzz. The uplifting effects seem to come back every time you hit it and it would be better for daylight if it wasn't so intoxicatingly potent and slightly disorienting. Conclusion Great for an early evening option this is full of exotically fruity and gassy flavor and will help bring a state of comfortable euphoria without knocking you out before bedtime. You could also say that it has a way of melting away all the cares of your day. To experience this Blue Slushie for yourself just hit up Cannabear and place your order today. Don't forget to mention that you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Gelato Cake by District Cannabis - The Living Room (MD Medical)

Strain : Gelato Cake Dispensary: The Living Room Location: Pikesville, MD Overall Rating: 9.5/10 Lean: Indica Dominant Hybrid Initial Thoughts Emerging from District Cannabis' medical cultivation in Maryland, is Gelato Cake. This strain has been the talk of the town here in Maryland's medical cannabis market for years now, since it first launched. Even today it is said the consistency of its quality still reigns superior. After loving this strain for years, I can say it's one I never seem to get tired of. The merge of two of the most popular dessert-like cannabis strains in my mind, Gelato #33 X Wedding Cake, makes for an indica-leaning hybrid with a tremendously appealing flavor. Appearance The first thing that I noticed about this strain is how resinous it is! There is a thick coating of trichomes over every centimeter. Below the surface are unforgettable deep green and purple hues that are beautiful to look at. Structure Spade shaped, mid to large buds. Status Good cure. District Cannabis doesn't let down with their quality. You can tell that they put care into their flower through every step of the process, not forgetting the curing stage and how vital it is to have an enjoyable experience smoking the bud. Aroma Sweet warm aromas of creamy vanilla and bright mouth watering citrus. Also mixed in I smell a bit of pine, which helps provide an earthy more well rounded bite to it. Flavor With two tasty classic parents like this one has, it would be a big let down if the flavor didn't come through. I am elated to report that this flower tastes as good as it smells, if not better! It presents a beautifully rich vanilla, fuel, and pine taste that is enjoyable even throughout an entire "jay". Lineage Gelato #33 X Wedding Cake Effects The warming effects of the strain were instant. Yet, after I brewed for about 15 minutes, I started to feel the hunger and couch lock begin to set in. My nerves were calm, and I didn't have distractions circling in my brain. The high lasted for a long time and near the end of my experience I thoroughly enjoyed cuddling my pup in a blanket and falling asleep. Conclusion The most prominent terpenes in Gelato Cake are limonene, caryophyllene, and linalool and I'd say this batch has the prototypical terpene profile. Limonene can be an amazing aid for anxiety and depression by promoting an uplifting mental state. Linalool is also present in the strain, which is great for tranquility, pain relief, and getting sleep. Another thing to be said about this cultivar is that it's a great appetite enhancer - which explains why so many patients with suppressed appetites are finding relief from it. If this sounds like something you'd like to give a try, it's available throughout Maryland's Medical market, but I picked this up at one of my favorite dispensaries, The Living Room in Pikesville.

  • Ice Cream Cake - Elevated Lounge

Initial Thoughts They say that when someone is going overboard, but gets everything they want simultaneously, they are "having their cake and eating it too." Now cannabis enthusiasts in DC can have a similar level of pleasure with this batch of Ice Cream Cake from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, Elevated Lounge. That's because not only is it some absolute fire and cultivated to near perfection, it's also a hybrid with fantastically joyful mood enhancing qualities and a hugely euphoric body buzz to boot. Appearance These mega frosty buds are dense, light green, and purple. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma Creamy, sweet, skunky, and bready with earthy kush-like hues. Flavor Smooth and delectably mouthwatering with a sweet, creamy, skunky, and bready taste all wrapped up into one. Lineage The Ice Cream Cake strain is a cross of Wedding Cake and Gelato 33 that runs indica dominant. Effects Incredibly potent with effects that are both uplifting in overall mood and euphoric with a warm glow created across the entirety of one's body. It can be calming and relaxing, but also allows you enough energy to remain upright and active. Though not great for focus or drive, it quelled my digestive issues so well that it was an aid to my productivity, even during daylight hours. Conclusion This is a batch, and strain, capable of bringing that "first-time" high back to even some of the most seasoned tokers. I'm not sure what its potency is, but I bet it runs near the 30% mark. It's perfect for a late afternoon or evening timeframe when you're looking for a head change and some comforting vibes, but I enjoyed it beginning right after lunchtime. Pro tip: if you burn it right after a meal it really seems like a treasured gourmet dessert with its decadent flavor. To grab some Ice Cream Cake for your own stash just head to Elevated Lounge today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you! PS: Be sure to check out their new location on U St.!

This Red Bull strain is over the top pungent and incredibly potent with a massive indica body buzz and stoning, yet not too sedating, effects - unlike it's energy drink counterpart. • Inside the Grow: A Tour of CULTA's Craft Cannabis Facility

As I made my way out to the Eastern Shore of Maryland I seemed to get more and more excited with each mile I drove. I was very familiar with CULTA's wonderful array of craft flower and getting the chance to see where it's all grown was something I've been eager to do for a while, and this was my chance! Located in Cambridge, Maryland, which seems like your average sleepy maritime town, CULTA's facility has over 20,000 square feet of indoor cultivation space with about 3 acres of outdoor area as well. Their cultivation team is highly experienced, and they use state-of-the-art growing techniques to produce high-quality cannabis. Additionally, the company has over 20,000 square feet of processing space, and it uses a variety of extraction techniques to produce various cannabis products including concentrates, edibles, and topicals. As a vertically integrated company, they also have a retail dispensary in Baltimore near the Inner Harbor. Upon arrival everyone was really relaxed, warm, and welcoming. Our tour group was small but the vibes were mighty and the mix of content creators, Maryland cannabis connoisseurs, and other industry insiders all seemed to share the same excitement for excellent flower that I had. We started the tour with clear instructions regarding compliance guidelines - CULTA understandably adheres to strict policies as a measure of quality control. Then we strolled around their hand-constructed outdoor cultivation site where each plot had been built by their staff with the plants' optimal life cycle in mind. As we roamed they explained that CULTA is a Clean Green Certified company. This program, developed by Chris Van Hook, who also worked on the USDA national organic program, was designed to standardize the certification of organic cannabis farms around the world. All certified cultivators are required to utilize sustainable cultivation practices, reject certain chemical pesticides, avoid synthetic chemical nutrients, and stay GMO free. What it means to consumers of CULTA's cannabis is that they can be confident their cannabis is kept clean and environmentally friendly from seed to sale. We then transitioned from the outdoor site to my main point of interest: the controlled space of their indoor cultivation facility. Tyveks were distributed and compliance rules were re-discussed. Then they walked us through the sequence of operations starting from the water room and cracked open the door to their R&D designated space. This is where their experienced Director of Cultivation, Tom, gets to put on his "mad scientist" hat and find their next line of CULTA classic genetics. I always appreciate a facility that dedicates time and energy toward new product creation and find the particular process fascinating. Unfortunately, we couldn't walk through at that time because of the stage of reproductive cycle a pollinating male plant was in - this could easily compromise our suits for the remainder of the tour. Next we ventured to their mother room - an extremely important area of any large grow. To have healthy flowering plants you need healthy specimens to splice and replicate. Without these mother plants they would be unable to produce the clones necessary to create their consistent, top-notch end product. Here, we were able to see the origin of some of Maryland's most beloved CULTA strains like Do-Si-Dos 22-22, Amnesia OG, Poochie Love, and their latest star, Hot Mint Sundae (all seen in the gallery below). Reaching the peak of the tour, we came to the moment we had all been highly anticipating: the grow rooms! As the doors opened and the scent of developing buds filled my nose, we began walking through the aisles like adult candy enthusiasts in a candy store - after all we can't say "kids"because this is a 21+ tour. We visited multiple rooms (both HPS and LED setups) and observed their protocols for each one. In all spaces and at all times it was "look, but no touch" - and we were very content just observing. For the last leg of our CULTA tour we were ushered through the state of the art processing labs. The open vantage points in the room gave our group a literal window into their processing operations. We met with the Lab Director, Eric, and he walked us through their different processes for the concentrated medical products we see on the market today. He also gave us a very interactive experience, one where we could smell the samples of freshly produced live resin and their live diamonds and sauce. The processing portion turned out to be my favorite part of the tour. I have a healthy respect for the cultivation centers coming from a cultivation background in my entrance to the East coast cannabis industry 6 years ago, but I have much adoration for what the labs turn their premium product into. It seems almost like magic, but it's actually just the beauty of cannabis science at work - so interesting! As we wrapped up we were presented with merch bags and then taken out to a local brewery in the Cambridge Historic District for some lunch and light Q&A. This was a welcomed surprise for me - who knew just looking at so much cannabis could give you the munchies so bad! 😂 Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to CULTA's Cambridge, Maryland cultivation facility and I couldn't be more impressed with their attention to detail, focus on quality, and truly positive culture. They certainly do have a "little slice of heaven" out in Eastern Maryland and the Maryland cannabis community are blessed to have such a knowledgeable and compassionate cultivator in their midst. I guess you can now call me an honorary member of the CULTA Club! *Medical cannabis is for certified/qualifying patients only. Must be at least 18 years old to view content.

  • Cream Soda - Peace In The Air

Initial Thoughts I'm psyched to try this batch of Cream Soda from long time DC i-71 cannabis storefront dispensary, Peace In The Air. They've been putting out some really nice flower lately and, as I think you'll see, this specimen is quite special. 🤩 Appearance Fluffy pale green buds that are covered with white trichomes, bright orange hairs, and purple hues (especially on the sugar leaves). A good amount of starry trichomes remain as well. Status Fresh, but beginning to to cure. Aroma Creamy, bready, and earthy with a hint of mint. • Jet Fuel Gelato - Flower Ave

Introduction Jet Fuel Gelato is a hybrid strain that's a cross between Jet Fuel OG and Gelato #41. It's tremendously popular in certain circles and known for providing uplifting and energizing effects. Currently you can find it on the Flower Ave menu - a DC delivery service that is known for its high-quality cannabis products. Given that we've already reviewed this strain several times and being that I've used nearly every joke imaginable about jet fuel, I asked my AI assistant for a joke about Jet Fuel Gelato and this is what it said: What do you call a Jet Fuel Gelato that is so energizing that it makes you want to fly? A high-octane strain! 😂🤦‍♂️ I know it's a groaner, but hey, my AI is still learning about cannabis ok? This is a hard topic for them. Appearance Dense, dark green buds that are covered in orange hairs and a righteous amount of trichomes. Aroma Notes of diesel, fuel, and fruit with a slightly sweet, earthy aftertaste. Flavor The flavor is similar to the aroma, with notes of diesel, fuel, fruit, and earth. Lineage The Jet Fuel Gelato cultivar is a hybrid strain that's a cross between Jet Fuel OG and Gelato #41. Jet Fuel OG is a sativa-dominant strain that is known for its uplifting and energizing effects. Gelato #41 is an indica-dominant strain that is known for its relaxing and sedative effects. Strikingly, I believe you can feel both nearly simultaneously with this specimen. Effects Jet Fuel Gelato is a balanced hybrid strain that produces a mix of uplifting and relaxing effects - it can be energizing and motivating, but it can also be relaxing and sedative. For me, though, it was far more energizing and cerebral with zero couch lock or sedation. Conclusion Jet Fuel Gelato is a great option for people who are looking for a balanced hybrid that produces a mix of uplifting and relaxing effects. It's highly versatile and individual experiences may vary, but it's probably best to reserve it for daylight hours. To have some jetted over to you today, just give Flower Ave a shout and setup your delivery today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Ricky Bobby OG - HYFE

"If you ain't first, you're last!" That's what Ricky Bobby would say, and he would know. He's the world's greatest NASCAR driver, and he's not afraid to do whatever it takes to win. So, it's no surprise that Ricky Bobby has his own strain of awesome cannabis. Ricky Bobby OG is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid and cross of Apple Fritter and Cheetah Piss that's known for its uplifting and energizing effects. It's perfect for people who want to feel like they can take on the world, just like Ricky Bobby. You can just sit back and relax on your inflatable Budweiser sofa and they'll bring Ricky Bobby right to your door. In the movie Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby is known for his catchphrases and his over-the-top personality. He's also a fan of cannabis, and he's been known to smoke a joint before a race or two. We don't recommend that type of activity for people who aren't Ricky Bobby, though. Instead, maybe you can roll some of this Ricky Bobby, get all jacked up on Mountain Dew, and "shake and bake" instead - in your kitchen that is. • Pure Oregon Diesel - The Gift Givers

Initial Thoughts Pure Oregon Diesel is a very unique strain with a strong aroma and phenomenal flavor that's presently available from DC i-71 cannabis delivery crew, The Gift Givers. Despite the "Diesel" in the name, it's important to note that this cultivar is actually heavily indica in stance and contains traits from NYC Diesel not Sour Diesel. Appearance Oregon Diesel is a medium-sized plant with dense, dark green buds that are covered in orange hairs. This batch also has some deep purple coloration and an intensely heavy amount of large hyper-white and starry trichomes. Status Fresh, but beginning to cure Aroma Very pungent, with notes of diesel, fuel, and sour fruit. Flavor The flavor of Oregon Diesel is similar to its aroma, with notes of diesel, fuel, sour fruit, and earth. It also has a slightly sweet, earthy aftertaste. Lineage Oregon Diesel is a hybrid strain that is a cross between NYC Diesel and Blackberry. The strain is known for its high THC content, which can range from 18% to 25%. Effects This batch produces an immediate onset of euphoria with slightly uplifting cerebral effects at first, followed by relaxation and eventually a heavy, sedating whole-body buzz. It's the kind of hybrid that takes you on more of a roller coaster of different effects across a timeline versus a combination of effects all at once. Best for late afternoon or evening. Conclusion Superbly potent and exotically delicious this batch of Pure Oregon Diesel is as good as its astoundingly beautiful looks. Truly an outstanding option for any indica lover. To grab some for yourself just hit up The Gift Givers ASAP and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
