  • Madison Square Gumbo - Flight Pass DC

Initial Thoughts With a name resembling the legendary arena in NYC, this Madison Square Gumbo has a lot to live up to given the amazing bands and excellent shows I've enjoyed there in the not too distant past. Perhaps, it could even be named after a famous pot of Gumbo from "the lot" at MSG - one that somehow provided more nourishment and flavor than thought possible to a worn down audience at the end of a Phish run? Whatever the case, this one has the looks and aroma of a high-end, exotic specimen so I'm gonna throw on a live set from MSG while I roll up and partake in this MSG. 🐠 Appearance Light green, purple, and heavily trichome covered buds with burnt orange hairs. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma Piney, bready, and savory with hints of spices and fruit. Once you begin cracking it open and breaking it up, though, a new fruity and gassy aspect emerges and begins to dominate. Flavor Notes of sour fruit, gas, and skunk. Sort of akin to chewing bubblegum and drinking a beer at the same time. Smooth hitting. Lineage The Madison Square Gumbo strain is a cross of Cookies & Cream and Secret Weapon that runs indica dominant. Effects This one is superbly stoning and euphoric, but also mood enhancing with positive vibes that seem to flow outward from your high, at first. Eventually, its calming nature becomes overwhelming and I barely made it to the fridge before needing to sprawl out on my couch. There's also some disorientation and a psychedelic skew to the cerebral portion of the buzz. Definitely best for evening or sedentary activities. Conclusion A uniquely flavorful and highly potent batch, this Madison Square Gumbo is an excellent indica option for those looking to quickly get and stay stoned - you know, like at a concert or other event. To "stash the Gumbo" for yourself just head to DC i-71 storefront dispensary, Flight Pass, ASAP and don't forget to mention that you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Good Night & Great Day Tincture by Alt Sol - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

Initial Thoughts Tinctures have become a staple in my diet and help with a wide variety of ailments from muscle soreness to digestive issues. They can also be great for keeping energized and focused during the day or quelling shot nerves from a busy day before bed. This is the case with Alt Sol's Great Day and Good Night tinctures: one is splendid for daytime use while the other enables a restful evening experience. You can currently find this perfect pairing at DC medical cannabis dispensary Takoma Wellness Center. Appearance Each beautifully packaged jar and glass dropper contain a pristine golden oil with zero traces of debris or grit. Ingredients These are considered "double strength" and made of MCT oil with 400mg of THC and 100mg CBD. Aroma Each has a very light aroma that is cannabis-like, but not in an obvious way. The Great Day does have a slight spiciness to the scent and seemed to make my eyes open a bit wider from a waft alone. The Good night, on the other hand, has a hint of earthiness and seemed to inspire calm almost immediately upon inhale. Flavor Very light with a tinge of spice for the Day (much like the aroma) and almost no taste at all for the Night version. Very smooth and absent of any burning sensation. Lineage Each of these are made from proprietary blends of cannabinoids taken from strains that correspond to the desired effects. Therefore, we don't know what strains went into these, aside from being ones that Alt Sol has cultivated. Effects The Great Day tincture came on remarkably quick for a tincture and immediately set out to energize and invigorate my body and mind. It was literally like "focus juice" propelling me to write quicker and with more creativity flowing. The Good Night tincture was an after dinner treat that had me feeling a golden euphoria and a calming heaviness. Laying down made me want to shut my eyes and stare at the back of my eyelids while wave after wave of a warm glow rolled over my body. Conclusion For those of you looking to address your own ailments, but without smoke, vape, or sugar, these tinctures present a wonderful option. They're powerful, each containing the potency to achieve tremendous effects without detection by odor, and continuously get the job done for me. My only tip would be to make sure you don't get them mixed up after taking them out of the labelled boxes - there's no label on the glass jars. To pick up some Alt Sol Great Day and Good Night tinctures just head to Takoma Wellness Center today and don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

It's got some raging sativa vibes that manifest themselves all over your body - head included. Their contents is a glowing and golden batch of what otherwise seems like honey. • Fall '97 by The Bank - Cannabist, Norfolk (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts One of my favorite aspects about The Bank is their ability to cultivate top-tier, flavorful, and original strains for their users. They're constantly aiming to be the staple of your flower selection, and this Fall ‘97, available at Cannabist right here in Norfolk, is definitely one of those heavy hitters! Appearance Light green buds with peachy colored pistils and purple hues speckled throughout. My batch consisted of extremely large buds that had me drooling the instant I laid eyes on them! Status Relatively fresh, beginning to cure. Stored with a terpene shield! Aroma This aroma is a bit complex. It radiates with the scent of a freshly baked fruit pie and a thick gassy undertone that doesn’t overwhelm the fruitiness. Flavor On the front end, this is a very smooth toke with hints of pear and plum - very fruity! However, on the back end, the gassy undertone leaves a buttery flavor in your mouth that requires lots of liquids in order to keep the cotton mouth at bay. Lineage Bred by The Bank, the Fall ‘97 strain is an indica leaning cross of Purple Urkle and OG Kush. Effects Initially, I was worried about the potency of the OG Kush blasting through and landing me in-da-couch. However, the Purple Urkle really helps to tone down that potency and makes it a bit more functional for a great daytime strain! This is one of those strains that brings out your creativity, gives you a little energy, and doesn’t leave you feeling groggy as you come back down to planet Earth. Conclusion This Fall ‘97 strain by The Bank is a great example of social friendly bud with uplifting energy, a cozy body buzz, and an out of this world fruity/gassy flavor. All I wanted to do in the moment was frolic around the park with my friends - it's a wonderful hybrid to keep on hand for daytime use for this reason alone - and bask in the sun. Fall ’97 definitely had me falling for it, and I know it’ll have you falling too! Swing by the new Cannabist location on Granby here in Norfolk to pick up some for yourself and don’t forget to let them know you read all about it here on Toker’s Guide!

  • Traffic Jam - The Basement

Initial Thoughts With a name that's quite appropriate for the DC Metro area - given all the traffic issues - this batch of Traffic Jam from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, The Basement, is something that can actually help you remain calm (as a passenger of course) in the face of grid lock. 🚗 🔒 Appearance Dense light green buds with dark orange hairs, purple flecks, and heavy trichomes. Status Curing, but the aroma and flavor are still fresh and on point. Aroma Fruity like a berry, sweet, and sour in a funky and mouthwatering way. Flavor Fruity, creamy, sour, and smooth hitting. Lineage The Traffic Jam strain is a cross of Kosher OG and Strawberry Jack that runs indica dominant. Effects Suprisingly energetic for an indica dominant strain, this one feels more like a 50/50 hybrid. It does have a great euphoric body buzz and it's mellowing in nature, but at no point did I feel like my eyes were droopy or like I would need to lay down. Conclusion Overall, this is great end of work or early evening strain for when you want to let go of all the stressful tension of the day and the commute. It hits really smooth and the fruity, berry-like taste with hints of something both creamy and sour make for a highly exotic and enjoyable experience. To pick up some for your own stash just head to The Basement today - hopefully avoiding traffic jams (because it would only be too fitting) - and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Flying Monkey Piss by The Wizard of Za - The Green Room

Initial Thoughts With one of the craziest names in recent memory this Flying Monkey Piss is a Wizard of Za creation currently available at DC i-71 storefront dispensary, The Green Room. Despite the "piss" in the name it's got a funky, fruity, and slightly gassy aroma that is the epitome of exotic - or "Za Za" as the youngsters say.💨 Appearance Bright green, dense buds with patches of purple throughout and tons of white trichomes. Status Curing, but the aroma and flavor are still fresh. Aroma Sweet, fruity, and slightly gassy. Flavor Fruity, funky, gassy, and sweet with an awesomely smooth and exotic exhale. Lineage It's unclear what the lineage of Flying Monkey Piss is, but if I had to guess I would say Grease Monkey X Cheetah Piss. It does seem to have balanced effects much like a 50/50. Effects Euphoric and tingly in body buzz with some uplifting effects that settle into a stoniness that makes you feel sky high. Exceedingly potent and probably running in the 30% range. Conclusion This is a great late afternoon or early evening varietal due to the stoning nature and cozy euphoric buzz. Yet, it didn't have any couch lock that I could discern and the toke was super smooth with exceptional flavor. Definitely one to experience for the flavor alone. To check it out for yourself just head to The Green Room today and don't forget to tell them that Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Pine Zol - MASC

Initial Thoughts With a nose similar to Lemon Cherry Gelato, but with more piney elements, this batch of Pine Zol from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, MASC, is an evenly balanced Backpack Boyz creation that is high potency and burns really smooth. You can't use it to clean your floors and furniture, but you'll feel really good WHILE cleaning around your house when on it.🧤 Appearance Light green and heavily trich'd out buds. Status Beginning to cure, but the aroma and flavor are still fresh. Aroma A really nice combination of sweet cherry, sour citrus, and pine. Flavor Piney, tart, and slightly fruity. Lineage The Pine Zol strain is a cross of PineSol Goji and Goji OG strains that runs evenly balanced at 50/50. Effects This batch is uplifting and cerebral at first, but soon instills a sense of calm with euphoric body feels that you might expect from an OG. It does create a giggly sense of disorientation, but it feels good and any anxiety is quashed by it's awesome potency. Definitely a mood enhancer and pain destroyer as well. • Citrus Tsunami - Elevated Lounge

Initial Thoughts I can't think of a more fitting name for this batch of Citrus Tsunami from DC i-71 dispensary storefront, Elevated Lounge. Like when all the water pulls back from the beach you're on before everything is suddenly engulfed by a monstrous wave of water, so too is the aroma of this batch. It's so intensely citrus I think I even started briefly seeing the world through orange tint. 🌊🍊 Appearance Purple and bright green buds with white and starry trichomes strewn across spear-shaped structures. Status Fresh, but just starting to cure. Aroma Like a cross between Tangie and Super Lemon Haze. Full of effervescent orange, lemon, and with anise notes. Flavor The citrus forward nature of the smell translates directly to the mouth and the flavor is nothing short of both intense and amazing. Lineage The Citrus Tsunami strain is a cross of GoTime and CBD Sour Tsunami that runs sativa dominant. Effects The high comes on super fast and is tremendously up-lifting. The energetic and cerebral nature of the buzz supercharged my day and I had a cheery disposition throughout all my tasks. The tingly euphoria that it creates will also end up engulfing your entire body in wave after wave, as the name implies. Conclusion Ready to help wash away any drowsiness and drown any negative vibes you might be feeling, this Citrus Tsunami is a wonderful sativa option to keep on hand for daytime use. The only other things this Tsunami seems to destroy are pain, bad days, and bored flavor palates. • Helium - The Garden DC

Initial Thoughts With a robust, gassy, skunky, and sour nose, this Helium from DC i-71 cannabis dispensary, The Garden, reminded me of some old school Sour Diesel. I'm going to assume that it will perform in a similar fashion - a cerebral, energetic, and motivating high - as other sativa leaners with Sour D in their lineage. Given the name, though, wouldn't it be funny if it made your voice high pitch and silly when you smoke too much? 😂 Appearance Bright green with darker green sugar leaf remnants, orange hairs, and purple hues, these buds are spear-shaped and have heavy trichome coverage. Status The outside is cured, but the inside is still starry and provides a bold sour scent indicating some freshness remains. Aroma Sour, skunky, gassy, and with hints of coffee grounds. Flavor A mix of gassy, skunky, sour, and pine it's more on the savory side of the palate, but makes the mouth water nonetheless. Lineage The Helium strain is a cross of Sour Cookies and Cheetah Piss that runs sativa dominant. Effects Expect an overall boost in energy and a rush to your head at first. Great for daytime use, but could use more focus factor to be truly productive. It is uplifting in mood as well and will get your creative juices flowing. Once the high fully sets in it provides a glowing body buzz that seams to reside more in the limbs than back or shoulders. Conclusion This is a good option to keep on hand for days when you need an espresso-like pick-me-up to get you going. It also happens to have a sour gassy flavor that I'm really into and it rolls well, burns smooth. Head to The Garden to pick up some for your own sativa supply and don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

Initial Thoughts I'm always psyched when a good batch of Tropicana Cookies comes around and this sample from cannabis delivery service Buddha Buddy is on point. It's mega citrusy aroma tells me that while it is cured, it's still going to taste awesome and the trichome coverage tells me it should pack a potent sativa punch as well. Appearance Puple and lime great buds with lots of large white trichomes and reddish-orange hairs. Status Curing. Aroma Super orange and sweet citrus with earthy notes. Flavor Citrusy and sweet during inhale and exhale. The aftertaste has essence of oranges, pine, and hints of sour fruit. Lineage Tropicana Cookies is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Tangie that runs sativa dominant at 70/30. Effects The eye-opening sativa effects of this batch are for real. Expect a head rush at onset followed by an active headspace and energetic body high. It is uplifting yet doesn't give any angsty feelings, and gives rise to creativity and work ethic. Khalifa Kush - Elevated Lounge This is one phenomenal Kush varietal that was selected and bred for Wiz Khalifa himself. It runs indica-heavy and while the exact genetics are kept secret we do know that it's related to an OG Kush cut - hence why it's also known as Khalifa OG. Despite the indica stance this batch provides an uplifting cerebral high with an immensely euphoric body high and no drowsiness. Head to one of Elevated Lounge's two storefront locations to grab some of these epic buds for yourself. Obama Runtz - Flight Pass Always a crowd pleaser, much like its presidential namesake, this batch of Obama Runtz from DC i-71 storefront Flight Pass has an exquisite nose and flavor. Bed & Breakfast - Flower Ave AKA "Breakfast In Bed", this is a super sexy Backpack Boyz creation that's a cross of Coffee Kush and Tang Tang strains. It runs slightly indica dominant and I'm a big fan of not only the crazy heavy trichomes, but also the vibrant uplifting high. It's also tremendously flavorful in a highly exotic way - kind of like coffee and orange juice in one with notes of pine as well. To check out this truly awesome tasting and smooth hitting varietal just hit up Flower Ave today. Bubble Bath - Top Level DC The super bright neon green and crazy amount of blaze orange hairs let you know that this Bubble Bath cut from storefront, Top Level DC, is something special. It's also only slightly indica dominant so it won't send you horizontal. It is, however, extremely calming and its sweet, floral, piney, and earthy flavor appealed to the more psychedelic pathways in my brain. Best to roll this one up in the afternoon or evening due to some disorientation. Overall, an intriguingly delicious flavor and calming, stoney high. Head to Top Level and you can take a Bubble Bath today! Banana Punch - The Treehouse & Buddha Buddy This cross of Banana OG and Purple Punch is evenly balanced and packs a tremendous body buzz that is uplifting, euphoric, but also calming. It's a really versatile strain that more or less lets the user steer the high. Also notable are the freshness, funky sweet citrus nose, and over-sized nature of this hydroponically grown batch of goodness. You can find it at storefront, The Treehouse, and delivery crew, Buddha Buddy, right now. Slurty - The Gift Givers Check out this gorgeous Slurty specimen from DC delivery service, The Gift Givers. It's a cross of Do-Si-Dos and Purple Punch that runs mostly indica and is known for its sugary sweet and gassy combination of flavors. This particular batch has a staggering amount of starry and hyper-white trichomes - indicating the freshness - and an aroma that is actually kind of intimidating once you break it up. Hit up The Gift Givers and you can start getting "Slurty" with it today. • Blueberry MAC - Flower Ave

Initial Thoughts This is a really nice batch of Blueberry MAC, now available from DC i-71 cannabis delivery service, Flower Ave. The slightly fruity, but very pungent gassy aroma lets you know that it's going to be a potent and terp laden toke from the moment you first crack it open. Appearance Dark green and blue-ish purple buds with starry and white trichomes throughout. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma A funky, gassy, piney, and slightly fruity mix with hints of earth and pepper. Flavor Gassy, slightly fruity, earthy and sour. Lineage Blueberry MAC is a cross of Blueberry Skittles and MAC that runs slightly indica dominant at 60/40. Effects This is a highly balanced strain from an energetic perspective, but it packs a nice indica body buzz that will have you coasting around comfortably numb for hours. It's probably best left for the late afternoon and evening times given that it's not one for promoting focus or concentration, but it won't give you couch lock or much sedation. Conclusion A dank smoke with gassy fumes built into every puff, this is a pungent and potent option for those looking for relief without drowsiness.
