  • Sunflower Yellow / Inspire by Abatin - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

Initial Thoughts Being originally from the medical side of things over in Maryland I’m someone who is pretty aware of the terpenes in my flower and I always check their percentages even before the cannabinoid levels. In the case of this Abatin Sunflower Yellow (Limonene/Inspire), I was thrilled to see some DC bud that is shining a spotlight on terpenes specifically. This brand has created other terpene-focused strains around many particular terpene profiles, but Limonene has always been one of my favorites so there was no way I could pass this one up. Great for helping to alleviate stress, anxiety, and improve mood, this uplifting flower is one I hope will be ideal for getting my day started in the mornings! Appearance Light green with bright red and orange pistols. Structure Small - mid sized triangular shaped buds. Status Still curing. Aroma I smelled a light citrus smell. It wasn’t overpowering but enough to hint at its energizing potential. Flavor Bright citrus inhale with a smoky lemon aftertaste. Lineage We can't be sure what specific strain Sunflower Yellow is, but the editing team has their money on Sunflower Sunshine, which is a slightly sativa leaning cross of Sunshine and OG Kush. Effects I'm happy to report that this was the pump-you-up sativa influenced wake-and-bake specimen that I thought it would be. With it I was able to power through my work and to-do lists and, overall, had a super positive day. It's got a slightly buzzy but non-anxious high, and the body feel is a bit tingly while also relieving some back and shoulder tightness - pain that I was carrying after a not so great sleep the night before. Conclusion If you're searching for a cultivar that is going to help promote a stress-free mind and pick you up while giving you a clear-headed, sunny perspective throughout your day, I highly suggest this Sunflower Yellow. I'm looking forward to trying some others in the Abatin terpene lineup as well, but I have a feeling this is one that I will continue to have inspiring me for some time, when available. • Fruity Pebbles - Flight Pass DC

Initial Thoughts Whether you've been a cannabis user and lover since the days of Barney Rubble or not it's likely you've heard of or stumbled upon the Fruity Pebbles strain before. This sticky, flavorful batch comes to us from DC I-71 storefront, Flight Pass, where even a caveman can go to find some top quality flower. This strain brings back some fond nostalgic memories from my early stoner days when I first found a love for fruity strains. It's nice to see this flower still being grown and enjoyed all over, even though I haven't seen a commercial for the fruity cereal version in a while. Appearance The colors of these buds were as vibrant as ever and had a combination of light and dark green with purple swirling throughout as well. Soft, short, and orange hairs stick out of the flower giving it a glowing effect in the light as trichomes meld all the features together with a consistent shimmer. Structure Elongated, dense buds. Status Cured well. Pleasurable to roll up. Aroma Tropical, fruity, citrus, berry, spice. Flavor Before lighting my joint I actually caught myself just inhaling and tasting the flavor of this bud before I got to burning. A punch of fruity flavor all the way through my joint. Slight spice in the aftertaste. Lineage Fruity Pebbles has an unknown origin, but is thought to be a somewhat balanced but slightly indica leaning hybrid cross of Green Ribbon X Granddaddy Purple X Tahoe Alien. Effects I smoked this as I was binge watching a silly show and within just a few tokes I was giggling and making fun of the show's attributes heavily, calling them all nicknames I made up. It was an overall suuuuper creative feel at first, then it became a mix of a creative head high with more rock hard heaviness in my body. I was able to melt all my pain away as I laid down and explored the full range of my breath, using it as a tool in relaxing my mind and body. Conclusion For me this strain was a bit of a creeper as well as being quite a bit heavier than a balanced hybrid usually tends to feel. I'd say it's a little more along the lines of indica heavy. It would certainly go well with activities like kicking back and watching some cartoons (with a smile from cheek to cheek)....maybe even some old school Flintstones if you can find it. For your own Fruity Pebbles there's no need to time travel to stone age Bedrock, just head to Flight Pass DC today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide said Yabba Dabba Doo!

  • Money Maker - Cheeba DC

Initial Thoughts With a nose full of kush and heavily trich'd out buds, this Money Maker from DC i-71 dispensary, Cheeba DC, had me pretty psyched to give whirl once the evening came around. You might even say it made me want to shake my money maker. 😆 Appearance Lime green with heavy white trichomes and lots of purplish flecks. Status Curing, but still has a fresh nose. Aroma Earthy, nutty, and fruity like a berry but with peppery notes. In my mind it even smelled like a powerful indica. Flavor More berry in the flavor but with the same earthen, nutty, peppery hues. A very smooth toke. Lineage The Money Maker strain is an indica heavy hybrid and three-way cross of Master Kush, Hindu Kush, and Skunk #1. It's known for it's supremely psychedelic effects and immensely sedative effects. Effects This is total zone out bud and what I've heard referred to as a "mind eraser" indica. Those stress inducing intense moments from your hard work day, you won't even be able to remember they happened a few tokes into a session with this Money Maker. Expect strong euphoria, disorientation, starry eyes, and a feeling of floating. Then expect to want to eat everything in sight, lay down, rest, stretch, maybe roll around on the ground, and wake up bewildered. Conclusion Indica lovers can bet their bottom dollar on this batch of Money Maker because it's one to add to the top shelf of your collection for sure. To get your hands on it just head to Cheeba DC today and say, "Show me the MONEY!"

  • Ice Cream Cake Live Resin Carts by DC MOTA - Top Level DC

Initial Thoughts As a big fan of ice cream (the cold stuff) I've always found it interesting how the Ice Cream Cake cannabis strain can yield such creamy aromas and flavors that are often remarkably similar to the dessert version. Of course, there are also fuel-like notes that most would not want in their ice cream or cake, but taste amazing in weed form. This is why I was psyched when this DC MOTA Ice Cream Cake live resin disposable cart came across my desk - I immediately wanted to know how pronounced the creamy skunkyness would be in resin form. And I was not disappointed in the least! Appearance These are nicely engineered disposable delivery systems that are sleek, discreet, and quite ergonomic in terms of the mouth piece. The contents is translucent, glowing, and golden much like honey. Flavor There's a strong, absolutely mouthwatering creamy skunkyness that is definitely like the flower, yet even more powerful (as you might expect). There were also the characteristic nutty notes and a cheesy aftertaste. They really nailed the flavor on this one! Lineage The Ice Cream Cake strain is an indica-dominant cross of Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake. Effects I've always found Ice Cream Cake to be calming and euphoric, yet also fairly energetic - especially in terms of headspace. Personally, I like the combination of indica feels and a vibrant mind, with creativity unhindered. If you go overboard your eventual state will be horizontal given the sedative power it wields later in the "comedown phase", but it also makes you feel super cozy when it happens. Pro Tip: Ice Cream Cake, whether strain or concentrate, goes really well with hot chocolate. Yum! Conclusion With an outstanding, plant-accurate flavor profile that's even more delicious than the fresh buds in a flower vape, this Ice Cream Cake live resin disposable by DC MOTA is a real treat. So treat yourself right and head to the always kind and courteous DC i-71 dispensary Top Level DC and grab some for yourself today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gelato Grape Pie & Cake Crasher - by Jawi Grown

Initial Thoughts We caught some samples of an amazing local harvest by Jawi (@jawigrown2) recently and just had to share. We're psyched that there's some excellent cultivation going on in the District and can't wait to see more future harvests from them. We have four to report on, but the first two are this phenomenal Gelato Grape Pie specimen and some completely trich'd out Cake Crasher. Appearance The Gelato Grape Pie is almost entirely purple with flecks of bright green and a frosty layer of white trichomes. The Cake Crasher has pale and lime greens with flecks of dark turquoise and a heavy coating of frosty trich's everywhere. Status Fresh and just beginning to cure. Aroma The Gelato Grape Pie is a fresh, creamy, and tangy gelato scent with some berry notes. The Cake Crasher is sweet and sugary with a doughy, cookie-like aroma. Flavor The Gelato's flavor is much like the aroma, but note there's a mega exotic and potent aftertaste that kicks your salivation into full gear. The Cake Crashers is also like the aroma, but with a surprisingly strong gassiness and notes of fuel to go along with the doughiness. Both are spectacularly delicious. Lineage As you might have guessed the Gelato Grape Pie is simply Gelato X Grape Pie and it runs indica dominant at 70/30. The Cake Crasher is a cross of Wedding Cake and Wedding Crasher that some have labelled indica-dominant, but we found to be more balanced. In both cases these are obviously some top shelf genetics and Jawi's pheno selection has made his harvests truly shine in the olfactory and gustatory departments. Effects The Gelato Grape Pie is a great all around calming and chilled out experience. It's not terribly sedating or drowsiness inducing, but you'll probably be best to partake in its immensely euphoric effects in the late afternoon or evening. With the Cake Crasher, as mentioned above, things were more balanced and the high was uplifting with an energetic headspace. The duration of the high with the Cake Crasher was also notable and seemed to just keep going and going. Conclusion With such distinctly different profiles and effects it would be unfair to pit these two gorgeous varietals against each other, so instead I'll present them as wonderful compliments. Indeed, I found the Cake Crasher to be a wonderful go-to day time option while the Gelato Grape Pie was my late afternoon and after dinner chill mode selection. • Black & Blue by Alt Sol - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

What an absolute stand-out! The first thing that struck me about this batch of Black & Blue flower from DC craft cultivator, Alternative Solutions (Alt Sol), was its delightful smell. I really cannot stress this enough: I do not believe I’ve ever smelled a strain like this before. It was so candy-like it practically made my stomach growl! I did my absolute BEST to make it last, but I just couldn’t stop going back to it - it's fantastic to say the least. The Black & Blue cultivar is a combination of Aussie Blues - a Blue Haze cross - and the potent indica, Black Russian. I understand that hybrids tend to be on an incredibly broad spectrum, and often greatly mirror their immediate parents, but this one - my beautiful Tokers - is a prime example of a hybrid that stands out completely on its own. It tastes EXACTLY how it smells; with its sweet peppery aroma wrapping itself around your taste buds as it provides you with a heavy and hazy effect. Although it is often classified as a 50/50 I couldn’t deny its indica genetics right away. It has a tendency to keep you coasting on an uplifting wave before throwing you back down into an immense body glow. Black & Blue has the profile needed to lift stress and anxiety off your brow while taking away your minor aches and pains at the same time. As wonderful as it was for stress, this is one that I would not recommend for focus. The cerebral experience it provided was immaculate, but more fog-like and not something I’d use for productivity. After an evening joint, a few streaming shows, and my third bowl of cereal it put me to sleep for the night. When I woke, I was notably well rested and ready to take on my day. Given this experience, I'm saving it mostly for evening use. Black & Blue has quickly become one of my favorite hybrids from Alternative Solutions, which is a high standard to reach considering the consistent quality of their flower. Just head to Takoma Wellness Center today to check it out for yourself and see the full line of awesome Alt Sol products. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Tinselmints Cold Cure Live Rosin by Evermore - The Living Room (MD Medical)

Initial Thoughts I've tried Evermore’s Tinselmints in its flower form before and LOVED IT, so I was pumped to get my paws on this cold cure live rosin to give it a try for the first time. I am a fan of their leading concentrate selections, and find them to be some of the highest quality in all of MD. With a cold cure live rosin, we get to experience all the terpy flavors of this beautifully delicious varietal at their freshest! Appearance The color and consistency are quite true to what a cold cure should be. Creamy and more opaque. Structure Similar in consistency to a batter, but with the cold cure it leaves a higher potency in its profile. This is because it doesn't get a chance to degrade like it could in other methods of extraction involving heat or exposure to other elements. Status Still fresh. Holds together pretty well. Aroma Vanilla, peppermint & gas. Flavor Sweet pine and mint inhale. Expresses more fuel flavors with the exhale. Lineage Tinselmints is a pheno of LA Kush Cake (Wedding Cake X Kush Mints) that was pheno-hunted by Evermore. Effects I hit this out of my Puffco Peake and also out of my rig. In my rig I took a larger dab and right away I got a blissed out sedation in my mind and body. I believe the high limonene content helped me with my depression and, even though it was cloudy outside, I began to find it a bit easier to focus on positive thoughts. The high myrcene content seemed to balance out those uplifting effects with a grounding body sensation. I lounged for a bit watching a burning man documentary and about 40 minutes after the dab I felt ready to get back on my feet and without any sluggishness. Conclusion Overall, I think this batch of Tinselmints is pretty similar to LA Kush Cake in effects, flavor, and aromatic profile. It's mentally uplifting, physically comforting, and should be a good fit for patients looking for greater terpene levels - we are talking over 10.2% with this sample! Whether in flower or concentrate form this one stands out with its unique traits and delectable flavor profile. You can pick up some for your own collection at The Living Room in Pikesville, MD, but it'll be available at other dispensaries statewide soon as well. Don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • G41 Live Resin - The Gift Givers

Initial Thoughts G41 (aka Gelato #41) has been one of the most sought after phenos of the ever popular Gelato strain. Pungent, fruity, and almost chocolatey, this hybrid itself is an amazing cross of two other incredibly popular strains. But we’ll delve more into that later; because here, today, we are reviewing some exclusive G41 concentrate brought to us by DC i-71 delivery crew, The Gift Givers. Appearance It comes packaged beautifully in a shiny black, almost porcelain-like container. Child proof, non-stoner proof and, well potentially stoner proof, the contents of the package will be absolutely safe if you happen to forget it at granny’s house while she is watching your little brother. Status A perfect combination of dryness and moisture that lends itself, in my humble opinion, to the perfect consistency for a concentrate. A beautiful golden sauce that resembles the top layer of some gorgeous local raw honey. Aroma A strong fruity aroma that reminds me of a newly opened bag of sour lemon skittles, or zesting a fresh lemon for that batch of shortbread cookies you’re going to need after taking a dab or two. Flavor You can taste the limonene terp in every inhale and exhale of this product, with a few other hidden dessert type flavors, but not in an offensive manner. You can actually savor it and enjoy how smooth it really is. For someone like myself that does not once hesitate to take massive, lung destroying dabs, it’s absolutely perfect. Lineage Diving into the rabbit hole we steered clear of earlier, we can now discuss the parents of this beautiful culmination of hybridization. Sunset Sherbert and Thin Mint Cookies were crossed to create the Gelato strain, and #41 was the chosen one. You can definitely smell said plant when you smell this concentrate. After all, just because they turned the plant matter in to this golden material doesn’t mean its flavor was lost in translation. Effects This is certainly a dab you can confidently take in the morning or mid day. It won’t put you out of commission and make you wonder what you were going to do next after the dab. Providing an uplifting ‘tude and an astounding sense of awareness, one could consider this an inspirational smoke for sure. Conclusion This might not be the strongest concentrate on the market, but that’s not always what we’re after. Sometimes we want to get incredibly high AND still be able to function. In these instances, this G41 is a real winner that I would absolutely reach for again. Hit up The Gift Givers today and have some brought to you for your own dab-joyment ASAP. • M.O.M. by DOJA - HYFE

Initial Thoughts Mother of Mothra, or M.O.M. for short, is a designer cut from Doja Exclusive genetics that has made its way to DC cultivators and is currently available from i-71 delivery service, Humble Youth for Evolution (aka HYFE). Though we're not sure how far down the Japanese monster film and mythology rabbit hole we'd have to go to learn what Mothra's Mom is like, we can be sure that this strain was named for heroic strength that must be similar to the legendary Mothra itself. In case you're unaware, Mothra is a giant moth and benevolent Japanese character that has battled the likes of Godzilla to protect world peace. Appearance Bright green and dense buds with loads of trichomes and fiery orange pistils. Status Curing, but not too long since harvest. Aroma The aroma is complex and hard to pinpoint, but there are tart berry notes and pine with a hint of gas. Flavor Earthy, piney, and gassy. Lineage According to Kineo's Genetics the lineage of this indica dominant strain is: (Northern Lights #5 x BC Big Bud bx2) x (Northern Lights #5 x Mother Of Berries {MOB}) Effects This is a highly euphoric and stoney high that whisks you off your feet and thrusts your head into the clouds. Leave all important tasks for another day when burning on this one. The combination of cerebral effects and body buzz make it excellent for relaxation and taking a load off after a long day. I didn't get much of a couch-lock sensation, though, and I was easily able to keep making my way from the couch to the refrigerator and back. Conclusion Sometimes when you've had a monster of a week the only way to battle back is with a monster of your own. With this Mother of Mothra on your side you'll easily quell the beast and put peace and calm back over your domain in no time. Hit up HYFE today and grab some M.O.M. of your own. Don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Pink Cry Baby by Terp Lords - Cannabear

Initial Thoughts This batch of Pink Cry Baby from The Terp Lords and currently available from DC i-71 delivery service Cannabear is the epitome of designer exotic cannabis flower. These local cultivators are even bringing some fancy shaped packs to bear - take this pink baby bottle-shaped mylar below for example. Appearance Dense purple buds are covered with large hyper-white trichomes. Status Beginning to cure. Aroma Sweet and slightly sour very much like the eponymous candy. Flavor This batch has a phenomenal flavor, especially when rolled in blunt or joint. The tangy, fruitiness is loud and the aftertaste makes even the most discerning cannabis connoisseurs want to lick their lips. Lineage Pink Cry Baby is a pheno of the Cry Baby cultivar that runs indica-heavy and is a backcross of Old School OG Kush. Effects With one of the most hardcore body highs in recent memory indica fans will be over the moon about this batch. It's got immensely stoning power and can make you feel so good that you just want to ooze around the house for a while. Conclusion Look to have Cannabear bring this one to your doorstep and add it to the indica portion of your stash ASAP before it's gone. It's got sexy bag appeal in a sexy bag and the smoke is undoubtedly still the best part. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you and you can thank us later for the heads up!

  • Cassius Clay - Monko

Initial Thoughts Wanted to let you all know about this batch of Cassius Clay currently available at DC i-71 dispensary, MONKO. Note that they have many exotic flavors worth checking out - their menu was looking very tasty in its entirety, in fact. When I first saw this strain I was thinking the buds looked so strong and powerful, it just had to be a real heavy-hitter. They were totally eye-catching with their starry glimmer. Some real contenders. Then when I found out they shared the birth name of greatest heavyweight of all time I immediately thought this could be the one, two punch I've been looking for. 🥊 Appearance This bud is an eighth in size! Purple hues abound with dark greens inside. Glowing, starry trichomes form clusters and spread all over. Structure I felt like it was a decent consistency, not too dense but reasonably so. Enough for me to keep breaking off pieces and get a few good sessions out of this one eighth sized nugget. Status Sticky and cured very nicely. Aroma When I opened the jar a pungent, earthy reek immediately inundated my nostrils. The giant nug, when cracked open, smelled like it was ripe with fruity notes. Altogether, it was very earthy with a strong funky mix of pine and fruit to boot. Flavor I tasted a great deal of sweet Blueberry juiciness right away as I was inhaling. Then exhaling I was hit with an earthiness, and a bit of a piney flavor as well. Lineage Cassius Clay, also widely called Cashus Clay, comes from crossing True OG X Bubble Gum X Master Kush and is a "clone-only" strain by THClones. Effects From just half of my joint, I experienced fairly balanced effects at first. There were also very creative vibes and a heightened sense of warmth that radiated around me. I was feeling slightly energized but not even close to racy. Then, once I smoked the other half about 20 minutes later, I was undergoing a case of couch-lock and it was a bit harder for me to want to move around to do things besides resting. It was kind of like a soft roller coaster with elation at the beginning and a restful calm at the end. Maybe it was playing its version of "rope-a-dope" with me? Conclusion This Cassius Clay didn't necessarily "float like a butterfly and then sting like a bee", but it was one that had the initial effects to send me soaring, and then tucked me gently into a horizontal state of bliss. I'm happy I got the opportunity to try it! I would absolutely pick this up again and suggest it to anyone in the market for flower. Monko is not short on anything when it comes to its buds, and I'm happy I got the chance to highlight them! Find your favorite strain by checking out their storefront and diving into the menu for yourself. Don't forget to mention Toker's Guide sent you their way!

  • Jokerz Candy by Strane - Liberty Cannabis, Rockville (MD Medical)

Initial Thoughts Jokerz Candy is a fairly recent addition to the brilliant evolving collection cultivated by Holistic Industries (Strane) and currently available at Liberty Cannabis in Rockville, Maryland. Already masters cultivating the beloved strain, Gummiez, they have a great understanding of the best methods involved in growing similar crossbreeds, and it shows. Appearance Complementary to the name, this strain holds true to the Joker's color palette. A balanced mix of greens, oranges & purples. The orange hairs are a good indicator that this was harvested at the perfect time, showing the care that Holistic put into this flower to reach its peak harvest ripening. Structure Remarkably dense, grape sized buds. As it broke down, it was sticky and came apart with ease. Status Cured and ready to smoke. Aroma When compared to its parent strains it seems to lean more heavily towards the Grape Gasoline rather than its mother, Gummiez. It provides a skunky, fragrant, grape, and gassy scent that fills the room. Flavor Sweet in nature, I was welcomed with a grape candy taste. As I exhaled it was also sweet and considerably gassy. Lineage Jokerz Candy was bred by the engineering masterminds making some of the most current crosses, Compound Genetics. It's an indica-dominant cross of Gummiez & Grape Gasoline. Effects With high THC levels, plus Myrcene and Ocimene being the main terps, I knew I was in for a feel good body-heavy strain. The cartoon-like dreamy effects creeped in after about 15 minutes, making me want to rest and recharge for a little while. I was then ready to carry out the rest of my day with relief from any tension. Conclusion If you love sweet and grape-heavy combined with notes of petro, this is a great option right now. I believe the attention to detail that Holistic Industries gives this flower contributes largely to its stunning final appearance and deep effects. Be on the lookout for more new additions to their cultivar collection as these growers are truly pheno hunting and cultivating some of Maryland's very best right now! Can't wait to see what they harvest next!
