- Apples & Bananas - Monko
Initial Thoughts Have a look at this gorgeous Apples and Bananas flower specimen from DC i-71 cannabis storefront dispensary, Monko. It has all the hallmarks of a great hydroponics grown batch of fire and I'm psyched to roll it up and see what she's all about.🔥 Appearance These bright green buds are over-sized and deliciously fluffy with bright orange hairs and lots of starry and white trichomes all over. Status Fresh and just beginning to cure. Aroma Sour and tart fruit like a green apple, but with something sugary and tropical as well. Flavor Sour, fruity, sweet, and earthy in a super funky and delicious way. Lineage The Apples and Bananas strain is a sophisticated cross of four phenomenal strains: [(Platinum Cookies X GDP) X Blue Power] X Gelatti. It runs evenly balanced at 50/50 on the indica/sativa spectrum. Effects This bud hits smooth and comes on quick with a vibrant cerebral buzz full of energy and positivity. It's a mood enhancer and uplifting high for sure. However, it is also quite intoxicating and slightly disorienting - a testament to the indica influence. Overall I'd say the effects are more energetic than balanced, yet the eventual body buzz that sets in should be noted as calming and somewhat tranquil. Conclusion The perfect bud for a daytime spring journey around DC, this Apples & Bananas cut made all the sights and sounds seem a bit extra. The cheery uplifting vibes even inspired me to go exploring for new nooks and crannies of the District. Everytime I paused to spark and re-spark my joint it was like I was upgraded to another level. - Orange Drizzle Live Resin by Evermore - The Living Room (MD Medical)
First Thoughts Being a part of the Evermore family has taken me down many different paths beginning with flower and eventually graduating to concentrates. Given the recent awards they've won for their concentrates I was very interested in giving this Orange Drizzle Live Resin a try. The cold cure should allow for a really natural taste since it's been washed with water instead of butane. After giving it a whiff, I'm really looking forward to experiencing its terpy citrus flavor! Appearance Creamy tan in color. Status The Evermore glass jars have been doing their jobs in storage and this batch has had its freshness locked in. Aroma A sweet orange creamy batter! Flavor Inhale - Orange taste. Exhale - Creamy Batter taste. Lineage Orange Drizzle is a cross between Mimosa and Wedding Cake. Effects There are many ways to ingest concentrates, from puffco's to rigs. Depending on how you like taking them, you can have high or low temperatures. This will affect the taste, intensity and the overall nature of your experience. In my case, I prefer to use a mobile pen with a glass piece attached. I definitely got a relaxed feeling which lead to any anxiety or depression slipping away from my mind. (Linalool-0.44%) Also, I didn't have any hunger after using it. (Humuiene-0.42%) Thirdly, I notice that I was in a happier mood. (Limonene2.95%) Finally, any type of pain or discomfort was at ease. (B-myrcene-1.56%) Total Cannabinoids – 86.42% Total Terpenes – 7.54% Conclusion I enjoyed the ride of this Orange Drizzle and feel that it can be used either on the go or hanging out with friends. Initial Thoughts I've been immensely enjoying this Animal Mints live rosin from gLeaf in Manchester lately. The quality is top-notch, even rivaling some of my favorite rosin from my favorite growers out west. I would even tend to pick this over theirs, to be honest. You just can’t beat the freshness of locally produced rosin and the faster I can get it from their refrigerator to mine the better. ❄️ Appearance This rosin is a beautiful light doughy cream color. Its texture is smooth and glossy, nearly a fresh press state. I love the consistency of rosin right off the press! Status Fresh. Aroma The aroma of this Animal Mints is a mix of sweet and earthy notes, with hints of pine and mint. It is a vibrant fragrance that is sure to intrigue your senses. - Grape Bubblegum by Verano - ZenLeaf, Germantown (MD Medical)
Initial Thoughts From my experience Grape strains tend to be a fan favorite for the indica-loving portion of the cannabis community. That's why, as an indica-lover myself, I was super excited to review this batch of Grape Bubblegum cultivated by Verano. It can be found throughout Maryland, and is almost always in stock at Verano's medical cannabis dispensaries in Germantown and Elkridge. A cross of hard hitters GMO and Purple Punch I expect it to be pungent and potent with a grape-like nose. 🍇 Appearance Compact green and purple buds hiding behind a sea of sparkling trichomes. Status Curing and a bit crisp to the touch, yet very packable in a vape, bowl, or rolling up however you like. Aroma When opening a jar with GMO in its lineage, it tends to smack you across the nose with the pungent odor of gassiness. This was no different, except the Purple Punch influence was also obvious with its sweeter and fruitier earthiness. Flavor Garlicky GMO skunkiness with grape notes and hints of earthiness in the aftertaste. Lineage Grape Bubblegum is a cross of GMO and Purple Punch strains that runs indica-dominant. Effects This strain is nothing short of sedating. With the first hit I felt the effects of the myrcene at once and my eyes started to droop. I could feel the tension releasing throughout my body as I entered a relaxed state and my mind felt completely at ease as well. Soon, I decided to finish everything I needed to before I got too sleepy to bare being up any longer. Then I enjoyed vegetating and streaming shows until I fell asleep in the blissful comfort of my bed. Conclusion The powerful effects of this grapey strain hit me exactly where I was anticipating and if I had to use one word to describe the whole experience it would be "scrumdiddlyumptious". It is not hard to see why it's a favorite of many Verano employees I've talked with. They note that it is still grown in memory of Maryland local, Rony - a cherished, passionate soul in the cannabis industry who introduced and fine tuned this cultivar when he was with them - to this day. I suggest trying it for yourself if you could use some stress relief or to aid with sleep. When you step into the dispensary to find it don't forget to let them know Toker's Guide sent you their way!
- Gold Digger by Terp Lords - Flight Pass DC
Initial Thoughts As a three-way cross of Blue Dragon, Acapulco Gold, and C99, this Gold Digger is a veritable who's who of some of my favorite varietals. Accordingly, I was very excited to give it a try when I heard about a batch of it being available over at DC i-71 dispensary storefront, Flight Pass. Appearance Darker green buds with flecks of purple, bright orange hairs, and a good amount of starry trichomes. Status Curing. Aroma Sweet, yet gassy with a hint of tart cherry and spice. Flavor Sweet and slightly fruity with a tart and skunky aftertaste. Lineage Gold Digger is a three-way cross of Blue Dragon, Acapulco Gold, and C99 that runs indica dominant. Effects This is a hard-hitting varietal that goes straight to your head with a powerful rush of euphoria and disorientation. Soon the cerebral effects start to drain into the rest of your body as a blissful feeling of calm. It's not very sedating, but its body buzz is noticeable and makes sitting down feel even more comfortable than usual. Conclusion Perhaps the potency of this Gold Digger batch stems from the fact that, despite my affinity for the parental strains, I don't encounter their profiles very often. Then, mixed together, the terpenes and cannabinoids involved are like trying a whole new cultivar. Needless to say, this resulted in a highly intoxicating, highly enjoyable session. To check it out for yourself just head to Flight Pass DC today and don't forget to tell them you read about it on Toker's Guide!
- Guava Cherry Gelato - Cheeba DC
Initial Thoughts Here's what I'm burning on today - this Guava Cherry Gelato from DC I-71 cannabis storefront dispensary, Cheeba DC. It's got a mega pungent and delectably aroma with a fresh, but gritty consistency that rolls and tokes perfectly. It also has a kind of tropical skew to it making it feel more like a beach vacation in my office, especially given the gorgeous warm weather. 😎 Appearance Bright green and covered in fresh starry and white trichomes throughout. Status Fresh, but beginning to cure. Aroma Funky, tart, fruity, piney, and slightly earthy. Flavor Delicious! Its complex tart and piney combo with a tropical skew also has a funky gelato creaminess in the aftertaste. Very exotic and complex much like the highest-end Lemon Cherry Gelato's. Lineage Guava Cherry Gelato is likely a pheno of Guava Gelato crossed with Lemon Cherry Gelato. It runs an even and balanced 50/50 on the indica/sativa ratio. Effects Uplifting and joy producing this was the exactly high I was looking for to get a bunch oof things done today, and you might say I was walking on sunshine for the whole afternoon. - Oreoz - The Gift Givers
Initial Thoughts Some of the prettiest bud I've seen in a while - my mouth is watering for this batch of Oreoz from DC i-71 cannabis delivery service, The Gift Givers. Appearance The sample I enjoyed was beautiful and well-cured, presenting an array of dark greens with faint shadings of purple. The thick coat of trichomes glistened in the light, turning this nugget into a beautiful gem, begging to be ground up and smoked. Status Cured well. Aroma Creamy and earthy with hints of cocoa. Very kush-like in this stage of cure. Flavor Like the aroma, but the exhale for me was more earthy. Very smooth. Lineage The Oreoz strain is a cross of Cookies & Cream and Secret Weapon that runs indica-dominant. Effects Fast-acting, powerful, euphoric, and relaxing, it didn’t take long before I was sinking comfortably into my chair. With a mile-wide grin spread across my face and some droopy eyes, this bud is seriously potent. I only needed two or three hits to feel a strong effect. Although this strain is great for the end of the night, it doesn’t have to be just for bedtime. In fact, I also enjoyed a sample of Oreoz before going to a concert at the 9:30 Club, and had a fantastic time swaying and grooving to the music while staring intently at the light show. Conclusion Oreoz is a sweet treat which, like all desserts, is best saved for after dinner; a little bit goes a long way. It won't take much to have you letting go of your worries and relaxing hard. - Cherry Lemonade - The Green Room
Initial Thoughts: Through the pack you can tell that these buds are heavily covered in trichomes. What you can't yet tell is that the aroma they carry is an awesome fruity and piney combination that will make your mouth water when it first hits your nostrils. Appearance: Bright green buds with tons of white trichomes throughout and starry, gritty trich's on the interior. Structure: Buds are fluffy, soft, supple, and easy to work with aside from the kief going everywhere. Status: Now beginning to cure but packaged and stored properly. There may be a fresh batch on the way, however. Aroma: Fruity and piney with a skunky essence. Flavor: Sour and tart fruit with pine notes. Aftertaste is excellent and makes you want to hit it again and again. Lineage: A cross of Jack the Ripper and Cherry Pie OG that typically runs slightly indica at 60/40, this batch seems more balanced with some proclaiming there were obvious energetic effects. Effects: Nothing short of awesome, this is a great all around buzz with both body and mind satisfied and not a wink of drowsiness. The creative and energetic headspace is great for daytime use and it smokes smooth with a quick, cerebral rush at onset. The long lasting high kept my digestive issues at bay for hours and I had no noticeable pain from old soccer injuries either. Conclusion: The Toker's Guide team is pretty psyched on this batch of Cherry Lemonade. With all the Lemon Cherry Gelato heads out there looking for the best version, this has much the same profile and a similar flavor. Plus, it's of impeccable quality that will leave you gloriously stoned for hours on end. So head to DC recreational (i-71) storefront, The Green Room, and pick up a pack for yourself today. - Dorothy Pops by Terp Lordz - The Green Room
Initial Thoughts At a recent evening party I broke out a few different varietals to roll up and let people try. I happened to have some of this Dorothy Pops by Terp Lords and currently available at DC i-71 dispensary, The Green Room, on hand and in a jar with a couple other types. When I cracked the jar its amazingly sweet, fruity, and grape bubblegum-like aroma had taken over everything. Even when you broke up the other types of buds separately they still had the remnants of "Dorothy's" distinct scent. I guess you could say the aroma really..."pops". 😂🤦♀️ Appearance Darker green buds with lots of purple hued flecks and good trichome coverage. Status Curing, but the aroma is still quite fresh. Aroma Fruity, sweet, and slightly tangy with notes that are very similar to grape bubblegum. Flavor Fruity and sweet with hints of cream and earth. Lineage We're still looking for information on "Dorothy Pops" as a strain of cannabis flower, but it seems to be indica-leaning in nature. Effects This is a very intoxicating toke with a heavy, indica buzz that comes on slow with giggles and grins all around during the on-set. As the buzz grows it sets into all parts of your body and seems to move waves all the way out to your extremities. People who hit this joint at the aforementioned party were lively and talkative while standing at first, then talking more calmly with couch seats in hot demand. Finally, bewilderment set-in and many became silent and watched basketball with eyes half open. Somewhere along the way it even felt like many people were whisked away to the land of OZ in their mind. Conclusion Coming to as the party was winding down it became clear that even I "wasn't in Kansas anymore" with a strong sense of disorientation and body buzz still in tow. Then I realized there was only one thing left to do: click my heels together three times and say "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like....". Before I knew it I was supremely cozy in my bed and the end of the party felt like it had all been a dream. For your own trip down the yellow brick road just head to The Green Room and pick up some Dorothy Pops by the Terp Lords today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Terps & Caicos by Terp Lords - The Green Room
This Terps & Caicos strain, bred by Terp Lords and currently available at DC recreational cannabis (i-71) storefront The Green Room, is appropriately named given its luxuriously tropical aroma and flavor. If you're not familiar, Turks & Caicos is a British territory and archipelago in the Caribbean that's known for luxury resorts, sandy beaches, and delicious boat drinks. This may not be exactly like whisking you away to a luxury beachside resort, but there's no sand, it goes great with boat drinks, and if you close your eyes it makes you feel like you're in paradise. 🏖 In fact, the parrot with the "Wizard of Za" logo glasses on the pack art above is making an expression that could have been my face while mesmerizingly high on this batch. It's slightly energetic, but seems like a relatively balanced hybrid otherwise. There's no clear information about the genetics as that seems to be a closely held secret, but maybe there's some Caicos strain (sativa-leaning) in the lineage? Either way the terps scream "tropical" to me. That tropical, fruity, and slightly pine-scented aroma becomes hues of what is more like Runtz in flavor when smoked in a joint. Grinding and rolling this specimen in a paper was definitely my preferred method for toking here as well - it breaks up perfectly and burns smooth with a white ash. I would bet that it would also be an exquisite toke in a hemp paper, or as a blunt in general, but I did not get the chance before writing this review and after I hit it, let's just say I was already "out of office". So take a luxurious staycation this holiday week by heading to The Green Room and grabbing some Terps & Caicos (or one of their other local designer strains) for your own stash. - Diamond Infused Pink Kill Moe "Snow Caps" by Terp Lordz - The Green Room
Initial Thoughts What better way to follow up Dab Week (and what an awesome week it was) than with some concentrate rolled designer flower? Yes that's correct, we've found what might be the perfect middle ground between the dab and joint world - these "Snow Caps". By coming out with this absurdly potent gift the Wizard of Za and Terp Lordz have effectively said, "We don't think this premium level exotic flower is strong enough, so let's add a frosty layer of crushed THCA diamonds to it." Ok, twist my arm and make me try some of that! Appearance Frosty white on the outside and deep into the interior. Note that the flower is obviously top shelf where observable. It's somewhat hard to discern between the diamond powder and the trichomes with the naked eye. Status The flower is fresh and the diamonds are dry and gritty. Aroma Like an intense gelato, but with added notes of pine and skunk. Flavor A piney Gelato-esque taste that is creamy, slightly fruity, skunky, and with a hint of musk. Lineage We're still looking for information on "Pink Kill Moe" as a strain of cannabis flower, but it seems to be balanced in nature. Effects Hitting a joint of this was heavily stoning, but not so much in a drowsy way as a disorienting way. I was officially lost in space about two minutes into the sesh and the cerebral aspects of the buzz came on very quick. Overall, I would say the experience greatly resembled hitting some Gelato 41 flower and then taking a dab of rosin from a balanced hybrid. I had some energy, but didn't know what to do with it because the overall euphoria had me kinda spun. Conclusion This makes delicious and highly potent contents for joints or blunts and should be reserved for occasions where you're looking to get intoxicated on another level. Seasoned tokers will relish its ability to give you that "first time" experience in joint form, provided you haven't already been burning concentrate-infused flower on the regular. To check out these Pink Kill Moe Snow Caps for yourself just head to DC i-71 dispensary The Green Room ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Sour Purple Punch - The Green Room
Initial Thoughts Typically when I see the word sour in a strain, such as this Sour Purple Punch from DC i-71 storefront dispensary, The Green Room, it leads me to believe that I will have an energetic experience. I'm always on the hunt for a strain that can keep me focused with some energy, yet also internally calms my anxiety, and balanced 50/50 hybrids have achieved this for me in the past. In this case, I'm also a fan of the parent strains' effects, though for completely different reasons. Purple punch crosses can usually help to ease my mind and give me clarity while Sour Diesel gives me body relaxation with mental stimulation. Therefore, I'm really curious to see how these characteristics play out when combined. Appearance Fat green buds with a brush of trichomes all over. Structure Tightly packed large nugs. Status Cured nicely. Overall smell and nug-feel prove to me it is ripe and ready to smoke. Aroma Fresh sweet berries, lemon and fuel. Flavor Tropical, diesel, citrus. Lineage Sour Purple Punch is a balanced, 50/50 cross of Panama Punch and Sour Diesel strains. Effects Before partaking in this strain for the first time I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with my anxiety creeping in. I am happy to report that I felt my body relax, and my mind followed as well, just a few moments after I exhaled. As the high set in my perspective started to get even more light-hearted, giggly, and there was inner peace for the whole duration. I'd say the high worked precisely as I thought it might with aspects that calm my mental angst but afforded enough control over my focus and energy levels as well. Conclusion Overall, this hybrid is a twist of sedating and energizing that worked well for me in numerous instances across daytime and at night. In the morning I was kept energized and attentive, but at night it put my mind at ease and after about an hour of a comfortable buzz I was ready for a good night's rest. To experience this wondrously benevolent batch of Sour Purple Punch for yourself just head to The Green Room ASAP and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
