From the moment I first opened the jar the quality was apparent given the aroma that emanated outward and around the room. Appearance These buds are light green with lots of purple patches and heavy trichome coverage. Aroma Like most Runtz varietals this one's aroma is a delicious and complex mixture of subtle fruit, pine, and gas. Different than other runtz there is more sweet fruitiness than usual, though I'm not sure that I would pick watermelon as the scent. Either way it has a really nice nose. Flavor The flavor is more of the same mysterious candy fruitiness, but with a strong gassiness that has become standard with Runtz cuts. Lineage Watermelon Runtz is an indica dominant hybrid cross of Watermelon Zkittlez and Runtz strains. Effects This batch of Watermelon Runtz packs a great body high that's palpable from just a few seconds after the first exhale. It spreads throughout your body with such force and quickness it makes you want to say "Ahhh" like you just sat down in a comfy reclining chair. Great for evening time sessions it won't knock you out, but tranquil sleep was no problem for me. Initial Thoughts Here are two more cultivars from a recent local harvest by Jawi (@jawigrown2). The nose on both of these is off the charts in intensity and each has the ability to make your mouth water in anticipation from aroma and appearance. Appearance The Sherbcake is dark purple and turquoise with a super frosty layer of starry and hyper-white trichomes. The Gary Payton is similarly trich'd out, but the coloration is mostly lime green with some darker green flecks and fiery orange hairs. Status Fresh and just beginning to cure. Aroma The Sherbcake is a mega funky, gassy, and tart scent with some pine notes. The Gary Payton is over the top pungent with a crazy doughy and skunky mix that I think GP fans will be really impressed by. Flavor The Gary is doughy, gassy, and skunky with some sugary notes. The Sherbcake is super gassy with pine and chem notes. Both are out of this world delicious and exotic. Lineage Sherbcake is a crosss of Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties that runs indica dominant. Gary Payton is an evenly balanced hybrid cross of They and Snowman strains. Effects As you might expect the Gary is the energetic winner of the two, while the Sherbcake is the heavily sedative one. The "Sherb" definitely produced some powerfully stoning sessions and psychedelic experiences with its potency. The "Gary" will keep you talkative, uplifted, and in the "zone" for long durations. One is a great bud for being active so think parties and, perhaps, even some pick-up basketball (gotta make the namesake proud, right?). Initial Thoughts The name alone has me stuck wanting some ice cream while simultaneously zoning out on a 1980’s cult classic video game. This Zerbert is an exotic hybrid strain with roots on the west coast in the hype strain capital of Los Angeles California. Buddha Buddy DC has been hitting hard lately and this selection is not tarnishing that reputation. Before you even open the jar you can tell that the flower inside is quality product - she's got jar appeal for sure! Appearance Bright and vibrant colored buds full of different shades of greens with purple accents and orange hairs throughout. The coating of trichomes dusts the entirety of these chunky nugs and causes the eyes to no longer distinguish where one level of color begins and another one ends. These flowering tops of the cannabis plant are excellent examples of proper cultivation techniques and the end result of amazing gardening. Status Dense buds that were properly dried, cured, and stored. Aroma The smells are fruity and pasty like. There are creamy notes and a candy like fragrance. It's sweet smelling in the jar and in your hand. Flavor The smoke carries the pastry flavor through and through. For me, I felt like I exhaled a fruity cheese danish. It has a light creamy flavor. I took bong hits of this one for my review session, and I cleaned my bubbler and all its parts first. The flavor really came through. This is a terpene rich variety which contains high levels of caryophyllene. This terp has been known to bring about hints of cinnamon and cloves. Well that definitely jives with what I am tasting! Lineage Zerbert is an indica dominant hybrid strain made by crossing Blue Sherbert and Zkittlez. It was originally bred by the Backpack Boyz, but digging deeper I discovered that Blue Sherbert is a Cookies cross involving Sunset Sherbert and Zkittlez. Effects The effects were fun and exciting and not overly penetrating nor sedating. There are reports of this strain testing in the 15% range on average. While this number may not knock your socks off, it is a perfect flower for daytime smoke that has an indica leaning sensation behind it. This is also great for people who may be new to smoking flower, or who may have experienced anxiety when smoking because it was too strong. I was very pleased with the creative juices this bud gave me. After just a single bong pack in the morning, I was focused and relaxed and not buzzing around the house at breakneck speed. I was calm and I got my morning tasks completed with a grin on my face. Conclusion Zerbert checks all the boxes in terms of a mellow daytime smoke for me. It was cerebral, but also provided a floaty feeling throughout my body. It's not so potent that it ruins your daytime activities, but it has some creative energy and very pretty flowers that tasted good and smelled amazing.
