- "Create" Tincture by Abatin Farms - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)
Initial Thoughts: As something I now use as a part of my daily morning routine, I thought it was important to share some details about this phenomenal "Create" tincture by Abatin Farms currently available at DC medical cannabis dispensary, Takoma Wellness Center. Not only is it delicious and a healthier delivery system, but I swear it actually makes me feel more creative. They're branding these as "Standard Oils", but they are anything but standard in my view. Perhaps it's to imply that they are setting a NEW standard for cannabis oils? 🤔 Appearance: Beautifully packaged in a highly informative box, this tincture comes with the typical glass dropper format. The dropper has milliliters plotted on it - which can be very helpful - and the contents is tremendously golden in color. Flavor: A light and natural raspberry flavor that resembles a LaCroix sparkling water. Because of the natural flavors, cannabis derived terpenes, and MCT oil, this "tinc" is the epitome of refreshing in it's aroma and flavor. Lineage: The lineage and any genetic details on the terpenes and cannabis used to make this tincture are kept secret. However, I would like to point out that they have noted the "morphology" on the box as "sativa". It's my guess that there are terpenes of Haze and Jack varietals involved here. Effects: Got a creative log jam that just won't seem to budge? Gotta jam on a paper, but every word you type feels grinding to your soul? Well check out this "Create" tincture and, if you're like me, you can kiss your mental roadblocks good bye. Like paddling up to a floating bar at some tropical paradise resort, effort and mental strain seem delightful under its influence. I've been using 2 ML (or approximately 20mg THC and 2mg CBD) in the morning and it's worked out fantastically so far. Conclusion: I used to be completely uninterested in tincture for the most part, but I thank some lovely local friends for sharing some of theirs with me, and now I'm psyched to try a bunch of their different versions. That said, this "Create" is my favorite so far and seems to be on point for my digestive, anxiety, and cerebral energy issues. - Papayas & Bananas by Strane - Liberty (MD Medical)
Initial Thoughts: Papayas & Bananas is happily cultivated by Strane, right here in Maryland! This blissful indica hybrid was created by crossing Papaya with a fusion of Banana OG x Do-Si-Dos. This particular batch is testing at 23% THC and 1.93% total terpenes. Appearance: These buds are dense, mid-sized, and cloaked in trichomes in every nook and crevice. Emerging from the frost are bright orange pistols and underneath there's a light shade of green. When I start to break it down with my fingers, I feel it's a bit on the dry side, but starting to cure. Inside the buds I feel much more of the resin actively sticking to my fingers. Status: Still fresh but starting to cure. Aroma: A creamy and tropical mix with a tangy, nutty, skunkiness that shows up a bit after the sweeter notes of melon, papaya and banana begin to diffuse. Flavor: I rolled up a joint and initially, as I inhaled, I got a light and refreshing tropical smoothie and banana candy taste. Intriguingly it was sugary sweet while still resembling a natural fruitiness as well. As I exhaled, I got a nice subtle aftertaste of freshly picked papaya and earthy OG. Lineage: Banana OG x Do-Si-Dos crossed with Papaya. Effects: The limonene comes in at 0.71% in this batch, bringing forth a smooth breeze of ease and delight. The myrcene comes in at 0.44%, complimenting the uplifting qualities with a surge of warm bodily peace and mental tranquility that seems to creep in after about 10 minutes. From my experience using this blissful indica hybrid flower, I feel it has the potential to help with many behavioral tendencies like ADHD & bipolar disorder. Others have mentioned its ability to provide relief from inflammation and muscle pains as well. Conclusion: If you're looking for a highly relaxing and euphoric indica buzz with a delectable, tropical fruit-forward flavor, definitely check out this Strane Papayas & Bananas. I purchased it in a 14g stash bag at Liberty in Oxon Hill, MD and I have also seen it available at their Rockville, MD location. Just check the online menu at the Liberty that's most convenient to you, or hit them up and their friendly and knowledgeable staff is ready to point you in the right direction. - GSC x Sherbert - Top Secret DC
Initial Thoughts: This is a really nice batch of this GSC x Sherbert - two varietals I'm a big fan of independently - from DC i-71 delivery team, Top Secret DC. With a great nose and some really trich'd out buds, I can tell it's going to be quite the stoney treat already. The aroma alone makes me want to burn it down pronto! Appearance: These buds are bright green with purple hued sugar leaves and bracts. The trichomes are plentiful and white. Structure: Spear-shaped and dense with a sticky disposition. Status: Still fresh but starting to cure. Aroma: Sweet and sugary like a holiday cookie, but with hints of coffee grounds and skunk. Flavor: Creamy with hints of bread and nuts. Some hits also have skunky notes. Lineage: As the name implies this is a cross of the infamous GSC (aka Girl Scout Cookies) and the always flavorful Sherbert that runs indica dominant at something like 70/30. Effects: With a strong heady high and powerful indica euphoria this GSC x Sherbert is an awesome combination of the best of both worlds, or should I say buzzes (heady and body). We really like it for late afternoon use as it tends to be quite relaxing, but doesn't induce much drowsiness. Personally, I find it fantastic for muscle and joint pain as well as anxiety. Conclusion: If you're looking for a relaxing, feel-great experience this New Years weekend look no further than this organically grown, connoisseur-level batch of GSC x Sherbert from the always kind and courteous Top Secret DC. Hit them up ASAP to place your order and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Biscotti - Exotic Organics
Initial Thoughts: As always DC i-71 cannabis delivery service, Exotic Organics, has come through with some designer level flower complete with official pack. This time it's the always delicious and hard hitting Biscotti, and it looks to be a highly potent batch at first glance. Appearance: A mixture of dark purple, green, and aquamarine hues are coated with an abundance of white, and some starry, trichomes. Structure: Spear-shaped and dense with a sticky disposition. Status: Curing is underway. Aroma: Creamy and sweet with a sugar cookie finish. Flavor: Bready with hints of cream and earth. Some hits also have nutty notes. Lineage: Biscotti is a cross of Gelato #25 and South Florida OG that runs indica heavy at 80/20. It's known for it's cookie-like aroma and flavor along with it's immensely relaxing effects. Effects: With heavy euphoria and nearly narcotic cerebral bliss, Biscotti is the antithesis of the coffee you would ordinarily dip its namesake into. It's simply mesmerizing in its potency and innate ability to stone you horizontal in no time. Definitely best reserved for evening or times when not having a care in the world, and looking to nap on and off again, won't get you in trouble. Conclusion: Biscotti is certainly one to have in your stash box for those times when you feel like checking out from the world for a little while. - Great Day & Good Night Pre-Rolls by Alt Sol - Takoma Wellness Center
Initial Thoughts: Local DC craft cultivators Alternative Solutions (aka Alt Sol) are making it easier than ever to keep your stash organized and, in this case, already rolled. In fact, they've rolled out 5 and 10 packs of pre-rolled joints containing their fine flower and according to the best time of day to partake in them - day or night. They've even branded the cylindrical tubes as "Great Day" and "Good Night" to help keep things straight. If you've ever accidentally burned down on a high energy sativa right before bed then you know just how useful these types of labels can be. 😳 Appearance: These aren't just any pre-rolls either. Sure there are different sizes and sexy, colorful packaging, but you should also know that the contents of these packs is fresh from recent harvests. That freshness can be easily discerned by the bright green color of the ground bud innards. The pre-rolls' paper is also still pliable and show no signs of going stale. Aroma & Flavor: If you haven't tried Alt Sol's flower and you live anywhere near DC then you need to. They've gone to great lengths to source top-tier genetics and the benefit is evidenced in the phenomenal aromas, flavors, and effects produced. In this case, these pre-rolls aren't quite as pungent as the newly harvested batches are, but the aroma is still righteous nonetheless. The Fuel Biscuits, especially, has its well-known skunky, gassy, yet somehow savory aroma and flavor that will make your mouth water every time. The Fog Jam, on the other hand, has a spicy and fruity essence to its aroma and flavor. Both smoke extremely smooth and have magnificent aftertastes as well! Lineage: Fuel Biscuits is an indica dominant cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Gelato that runs around 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio. As we've reviewed before this strain is very pungent and highly euphoric in nature. Fog Jam is a sativa leaning hybrid cross of Fruit of the Gods (F.O.G.) and Nepalese Jam that we've also had the opportunity to write about and find spectacularly delicious. It's known for its combination of uplifting body buzz and heady high. Effects: Fuel Biscuits, being the contents of the "Good Night" labelled cylinders, is certainly more calming and relaxing than the stirring Fog Jam. It packs a tremendous body high that seems to come in waves and can cause some disorientation - though the delightful kind. I don't get too much couch lock from it, but others have noted its ability to induce a sedative state. A great daytime toke - hence its inclusion in the "Great Day" branded packaging - this Fog Jam is replete with heady headband-like cerebral high upon initial onset and energetic, driving euphoria. It's a perfect one to help focus on tasks at hand while also feeling fantastic while doing them. Conclusion: I plan to keep several 10 packs around not only for convenience sake, but also because I just love getting my hands on these two particular Alt Sol strains whenever I can. To grab some Great Days and Good Nights for yourself just head to DC medical cannabis dispensary, Takoma Wellness Center ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Horchata - The Gift Givers
If you're looking for terpene rich, super flavorful flower with a fantastic high that won’t drag you down, then look no further than this Horchata strain coming to us from DC i-71 cannabis delivery service, The Gift Givers. This delicious hybrid is sure to please even the most discerning palate and it's some of the richest smoke I have had in quite a while. I was delighted from the moment I opened the bag and the fruity, creamy aroma filled the air. This balanced hybrid (50/50) was created by combining the exotic Mochi Gelato strain with aroma powerhouse Jet Fuel Gelato. The resulting fruity, creamy, and slightly skunky taste also harbors a nutty flavor which is sharp in the mouth and vibrant to the nose. The flavor lasted from beginning to end as I burned a nice fat joint of this chronic bud. Soon the morning slipped into mid-afternoon and the whole time I was in a state of relaxation with pleasant tingling sensations all over. These sensations seemed to start at my shoulders and spine performing what felt like a holistic back massage that smoothed out the tension of my day so far. - Cereal Milk - The Green Room
Initial Thoughts: Sugary, cookie-esque, and with notes of gas, this cereal milk is what I followed my nose to at DC i-71 dispensary The Green Room this time around. Aside from the tantalizing aroma, the trichome production looks solid and I bet this will be a great smoke when rolled up. I wonder if the flavor will resemble the milk in the bottom of a bowl of sugary cereal? 🥣 Appearance: Lime and dark green with a heavy amount of white-ish trichomes. Structure: Dense with a spongey texture and lots of gritty kief. Status: Curing but still possesses a fresh scent. Aroma: Sugary, gassy, and cookie-like with hints of skunk and berry. Flavor: Gassy, savory, and sweet all wrapped into one. Lineage: Cereal Milk is a cross of Snowman and Y-life strains that typically runs either a nicely balanced 50/50 or just slightly sativa heavy depending on the specific batch and phenotype. Known for its hard-hitting cerebral high and delectable flavor this strain typically runs in the low 20's when it comes to THC content. Effects: Refreshing and uplifting with an enveloping euphoric buzz. This is a "treat-you-right" sativa-containing specimen that can yield creativity, joy, euphoria, and many other positive vibes while also instilling a sense of relaxation. We enjoyed it most when rolled in joints that can pull long and slow to better manage intake given the alluring flavor. Conclusion: Flavor and effects are two categories that Cereal Milk gets full marks on, yet we would have liked to see it in larger format and a little closer to harvest. Nonetheless, it will be one I go back to so I can experience its uplifting benefits and uniquely delicious flavor again and again. To try it for yourself just head to The Green Room today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Blueberry Donut & Jack Herer Carts - Flight Pass DC
Initial Thoughts: The practice of adding terpenes from specific strains back into distillate for cartridges is something that has become quite the science lately. Over at DC i-71 cannabis dispensary Flight Pass they've got the method and process down with their new lab tested carts. We've got two flavors (or strains) of theirs to review for you today: the mouthwatering indica dominant Blueberry Donut and the legendary hazy, sativa-heavy Jack Herer. Appearance: These carts come with special protective packaging for the mouth piece and the conduit where the battery connects (often a place where issues occur and can create "duds"). The contents is a highly translucent golden yellow. Flavor: The Jack is spot-on given the flavor of the flower that I'm oh so familiar with. It's, essentially, lemons and anise in a combo similar to root beer with a huge squeeze of lemon and a touch of pine. As for the Blueberry Donut, despite the name it wasn't too sugary sweet. In fact it was a bit more gassy and bready than sugary, but definitely fruit forward and blueberry-esque. Lineage: Jack Herer is a sativa-dominant hybrid named for the famed marijuana activist of the same name. Sensi Seeds created this legendary strain by combining Haze, Northern Lights #5, and Shiva Skunk. Blueberry Donut is an indica dominant cross of Purple Thai and Thai that is known for its delicious blueberry flavor and highly euphoric effects. Effects: As a Jack Herer mega fan this was a great little cart to have on hand for some recent chores I had to knock out. As always carts are great for medicating covertly and these are some of the most discreet - their aroma whisks away and nobody's the wiser. The Jack, as expected, left me with a bunch of jolly cerebral energy. Yet, not only was it uplifting and creativity inspiring, it also had a really nice body buzz to it as well. The Blueberry Donut was what I started calling a "sneaky little f*cker" because it tasted so good and hit so nice, but stoned me into a horizontal position not long after each hit. I guess I don't toke indica carts all that often, so maybe these terps hit me more than they would have otherwise, but I'd still call this a potent indica cart with a knock out punch. Conclusion: When all the fam is gathering around and being nosey this holiday season, I'll be trotting off every once in a while to hit a multitude of different carts in secret. These are two carts that I'll definitely be adding to that specially curated collection, though to be honest I'll probably be hitting the Jack cart most often. Otherwise, the combo of good food and the Blueberry Donut cart might put me in a food coma until early 2023. 😴 To add these lab tested carts to your stash for the holidays just head to Flight Pass today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Tokyo Gumdrop - Flower Ave
Initial Thoughts: It has the kind of mega pungent fruity, sweet, and gassy aroma that you just know is absolute fire before you even lay eyes on it. Then once you do have a gander at her splendor it will only reiterate how spectacular this batch of exotic designer flower truly is. From DC i-71 delivery unit Flower Ave allow me to present Tokyo Gumdrop. Appearance: Flecks of purple and lots of frosty white (and starry) trichomes cover these, otherwise, aquamarine and neon green buds. Structure: Fluffy and spear-shaped with gritty, dry texture on the outside and a sponginess on the inside, still. Easy to break up. Status: Fresh with starry and hyper-white trichomes galore. Aroma: Highly pungent. Smells like a pineapple flavored gumdrop with hints of gas and pine. Flavor: A complex combination of sweet fruit, pine, and gas. Lineage: Tokyo Gumdrop is an exotic, designer-level flower and indica leaning cross of Runtz XO and Garlic Shrimp Girl. Known for its heavily sedating, intense high and absolutely mouthwatering candy-like flavor, it was originally bred by Teds Budz of California. Effects: A heavy head high followed by immense euphoria and relaxation that seems to come in waves. Best for late afternoon and evening time, but not when you have to be functional for any type of cognitive work. Staggeringly potent and not for the newbs. Conclusion: I'm a huge fan of this batch and it's helping to keep my cabin fever at bay here on this cold and dreary day. It's made writing a bit tougher than usual and I think my motor skills are actually much slower than they would be following a more energetic varietal. Note that I have zero pain and seem to be floating anywhere I need to go slowly, but on cloud nine. Great for bong or joint, we've been picking these up with chopsticks to keep more kief intact and, well, because it does have "Tokyo" in the name. 🥢 To grab some Tokyo Gumdrop for your own connoisseur collection just hit up Flower Ave and place your delivery order today. Don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!
- Vampire Killer - Top Level DC
Initial Thoughts: This Vampire Killer from DC i-71 dispensary, Top Level, is some deliciously aromatic flower whose name didn't make sense to me until I caught a whiff of its strong garlic and basil aroma. I thought the way to kill a vampire was to drive a stake through their heart, and that garlic was just supposed to scare them away? I guess that's the point of Vampire Killer in this case, though - with a garlic smell so strong it wouldn't just stop vampires in their tracks...it would flat out kill them. 🧛♀️ Appearance: These buds are lime green with flecks of purple and lots of frosty white (and starry) trichomes. Structure: Dense and rotund but easy to break up. Status: The frostiness of the trichome covered buds spoke to me and told me they were still pretty fresh and not long from harvest date. Aroma: Garlicky with notes of basil and skunk. Flavor: The inhale is piney and skunky. The exhale is full of garlic and sour fruit. Lineage: Vampire Killer is a slightly indica dominant hybrid cross of Marie Leveau and African Thai. The African Thai is said to be of sativa roots with a Thai varietal being bred with a Durban strain. The Marie Leveau, on the other hand, is a cross of Big Poppa and Lashkar Gah White 91 that runs indica dominant. Put them together and you get the super-rare, terpene rich offspring you see here. Effects: Euphoria paired with an uplifting head high - the team was hugely into this strain. There was some argument over whether it was more balanced, or more energetic, but the final consensus was relaxation in the body with an active and blissful headspace. A great daytime or early evening toke. Conclusion: The mega rich flavor profile makes this one phenomenal in the bong and it hits like a champ every time. Plus, you can finally be rid of all those pesky blood suckers in your life. To grab some top-notch, fresh, and highly exotic buds like this batch of Vampire Killer, just head to Top Level DC today. - Papaya Island - Elevated Lounge
Initial Thoughts: Well-grown Papaya is typically a real treat to get your hands on and can often smell startlingly similar to the funky, skunky fruit. In this case DC cannabis storefront and i-71 dispensary, Elevated Lounge, has brought forth a phenomenal specimen and prime example of why this strain can be so joyful - even if you don't like papaya the fruit. In any case, I was super pumped to toke on this the second the aroma (spot-on for Papaya) made its way out of the bag and into my nose. 👃 Appearance: Bright lime green with starry trichomes and light orange hairs. Structure: Fluffy, fat, and flaky. Crisp on the outer edges, but dense and sticky on the inside still. Perfect for the bong. Status: Fresh, but beginning to cure. Aroma: Fruity (in a tropical way), creamy, and skunky (in a funky way) much like an actual papaya fruit. Flavor: Very similar to its aroma, this one tastes like tropical fruit with hints of skunk and earth. Lineage: We're pretty sure this is a phenotype of the Papaya strain that was originally bred by Island Cannabis in California. They select from a network of trusted farms and breeders to identify the best flower and genetics - we're thinking that's where the "Island" in the name of this batch came from. Papaya, in general, is an indica-dominant cross of Citral #13 and Ice #2 that runs something like 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio. Effects: With immense euphoria and soothing indica vibes this strain is phenomenal for relaxation and instills a long lasting sense of internal calm. Best for evening time or any highly relaxing sedentary activity, it can cause drowsiness in some, but I found myself mostly alert with a heavy body buzz. Conclusion: As blasts of arctic air rush to meet me every time I step outside it's nice to know that this Papaya, with a blast of tropical vacation in every hit, is waiting for me back inside. Who knows, we may even throw on some Hawaiian shirts and grill some pineapple to further up our staycation experience. Grab some Papaya for yourself by heading to Elevated Lounge today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Platinum GG - The Garden DC
If you're looking for the deep body high of an Indica dominant strain look no further than the latest offering from DC i-71 cannabis dispensary, The Garden. That's right this Platinum GG (aka Gorilla Glue) is a 65/35 split which is perfect for unwinding after a long day. This is one that can definitely have you glued to the couch as its predecessor's name implies. It's a cross between Platinum Kush and Gorilla Glue #4 that smells intensely of garlic and funky over ripe fruit which also has a fuel like fragrance behind it. These buds are bursting with an outer layer of sugary trichomes which serves as a veil to cloak the forest of green and rusty red hairs below. One huge nug was freshly ground to create a smooth mix which was then transformed into a miniature baseball bat of the smokable variety (a large joint). That heavy garlic fragrance I mentioned earlier practically had my eyes watering as I moistened the edge of my Rolling paper. The terpenes in this funky flower sure pack a punch to go along with the crazy complex aroma. Once I sparked the jumbo doobie and got some of that thick, but smooth smoke into my lungs, my body was immediately inundated with a healthy dose of pain-relieving pleasantness. It relaxed my mind and body equally and aligned with online reports of euphoria and calm inducing effects. The strain's potency range is from 18 to 24% and it wouldn’t surprise me if this particular batch was at the top of that range. I cannot emphasize enough how Indica dominant this particular variety was for me - it locked me into a horizontal position, gave me tremendous munchies, and made snuggling under blankets extra cozy. Definitely one that registers high on the Richter scale for getting super lifted ganja style, check out this Platinum GG now available at DC storefront The Garden.
