  • Alien OG - High There DC

As we start to get further and further away from the typical indoor harvest season and into the ideal weather for sun-grown cannabis we'll start to see a good variety of "light deps" (weed cultivated in greenhouses with shade controlling duration of light) coming to the gifting scene in DC. A great example of some of these sun-grown beauties is this Alien OG from DC i-71 service High There. A cross of Tahoe OG and Alien Kush, this hybrid runs 50/50 on the indica/sativa ratio and exhibits kush-like euphoric effects with the added benefit of a sweet heady high and energy to boot. It can both create an overwhelming sense of calm and an active mind. So much so my wife asked me why I looked so "spacey". Did I mention that many times sun-grown buds can have highly potent effects? Let's just say it may hit you a bit differently than the indoor you've been burning on for a while. If you're into the OG flavor and aroma like I am - one of heavy pine, lemon, earth, and with a hint of skunk - then this could be your jam too. For me there's just something about that OG taste and those kushy vibes that says "summertime". I couldn't be happier that Summer is upon us and the timing of this Alien OG is perfect for rolling up some j's by the pool. To roll some of your own and for all your cannabis needs hit up High There DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gelatti - Exotic Organics

Check out this balanced (50/50) cross of Gelato and OG Biscotti known as Gelatti from DC i-71 delivery gurus Exotic Organics. For all you Gelato flavor fanatics out there this is right up your alley with an aroma and flavor that's gassy, bready, and with a smooth skunky finish. Roll it up and watch your Tuesday blues float away. Pair it with some actual gelato (you know, it's kind of like ice cream) and it might just become your favorite new way to chill out and beat the heat. With starry trichomes still intact and little to no compression this batch is still on the fresh side. Of course, this means it's also got the sticky icky texture that calls for the use of a sharp grinder. We do enjoy rolling this up in a GUD paper given just how funky the toke can be. At the end of one rolled super fat or "cannon" style it takes on a new flavor reminiscent of the best cannabis cigars I've had - and I just had to blow some smoke rings to celebrate! 😤 In terms of effects, the even nature of the buzz can be appreciated at nearly any time. It's got mellow undertones and grants the ability to relax, but if you need to keep up with a busy schedule (like me) I found it didn't discombobulate me too much and I kept on track. Regardless of what you may or may not decide to do, the delightful and long lasting body buzz will be there to provide relief. Thus, is the beauty of a balanced 50/50. To get some Gelatti for your own stash before it's gone just hit up Exotic Organics ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Sunkist - Buddha Buddy DC

With a staggering amount of fresh trichomes and a HUGE orange zest nose typically reserved for the finest Tangie, this batch of Sunkist from DC i-71 service Buddha Buddy is just awesome. Also known as Sunkissed (or spelled we should say) don't confuse this with the similarly named CBD strain - this one is THC and sativa-heavy. A cross of Platinum Tangie and Arise, you can bet that this is super exotic and super rare. As someone who loves Tangie in flavor and effect, I could happily become personally responsible for making it even more rare...by burning it down as much as I can! 😂 The coloration also screams exotic with some portions almost entirely purple and others incorporating more greens. The plant, while growing, probably looked super gnarly with a deep purple center and bright green outer sugar and fan leaves. When you break these buds open the inside is like a geode or cave with starry crystalline trich's everywhere and set against a midnight backdrop. Her effects are to provide an instant head rush paired with immediate relief - a feeling which then zooms to all extremities seemingly giving energy to every bone and muscle. It's almost as if your whole body rises to meet the day that much more upon exhale. With a creative mind, golden body glow, and huge grin on my face is how I spent the next couple hours after my first Sunkist session. I guess you could say I was kissed by Sunkist and it woke me up a lot, but doesn't that make me like Sleeping Beauty in a way? 🤔 To grab some of this incredible citrus Sunkist fire just hit up Buddha Buddy DC ASAP. • Gelato Cake by District Cannabis - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

While you may or may not have been looking the DC medical cannabis scene has been getting better and better with improved access and customer experiences all around. One of our favorite dispensaries in the country, medical or otherwise, Takoma Wellness Center has been at the forefront of these efforts and involved since the very beginning of DC medical cannabis. Always working to better the DC cannabis community, they've continuously impressed with their caring and knowledgeable staff as well as their amazing selection of high quality medicine. Among the flower meds they have available we stumbled upon one that we've been hearing really good things about for a while, but not yet reviewed. She caught my eye looking so beautiful and recently chopped there on the shelf, I figured I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't share her brilliance with you all. So, without further adieu, I bring you Gelato Cake locally cultivated by District Cannabis. An indica-dominant hybrid that runs roughly 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio, Gelato Cake is a cross of famed Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake. We've been big fans of both these inputs and other Gelato Cakes in the past, but this batch has been especially delightful. It's trichome levels are off the charts and still frosty fresh - a testament to the benefits of local cultivation. Creamy, peppery, skunky, and with a bready finish is how the Toker's Guide crew has collectively summed up the flavor and aroma emanating from these buds. It's not too far off, actually, from the bowl of Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake we mixed just to make the comparison. I would say what differentiates the Gelato Cake is a richer flavor without any loss of smoothness. With effects that are notably euphoric even for a Gelato crossbreed, you may find yourself highly relaxed and ready to chill as the buzz truly sets in. Yet, at first, expect a rush of tingles to your head and the need to fist pump as you exhale given the awesomeness of the experience. As such, we have to mention that we prefer this one in the bong, but it rolls really nicely too - an all around excellent evening toke whatever the method. So grab your medical card (note: reciprocity for all possible states) and head to Takoma Wellness Center for your own slice of Gelato Cake today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • White Grape - Cannabear

Greetings tokers! In the lead up to this Memorial Day weekend I'm going to do my best to show you that, indeed, there's some serious fire in the District right now. Case in point, check out this superb batch of White Grape from DC i-71 delivery service, Cannabear. A cross of Grape Stomper and Aloha White Widow this strain is known to be a more energetic, yet balanced, indica that makes one feel both kicked back and ready to engage socially. Its ability to induce laughter has also been frequently noted, likely a result of the white widow influence. If I had to provide my own personal assessment of ratio given the batch at hand, it would be a nicely balanced 50/50. However, you can find differing takes elsewhere online. What makes this batch "fire" is its freshness, its immense coating of white trichomes, and the mouthwatering grape flavor. When you waft air from the jar toward your nose, notice the different hues of grape that emerge. It's not just "fruity" or "grape-like", it's actually a range from red to white grape the longer you inhale. There also seem to be subtle notes of vanilla and pine from time to time making this a highly complex and exotic treat. As one friend put it, "it's like the wine and the cheeseboard in one". To experience some delightfully potent, fruity, and mildly energetic White Grape for yourself just hit up Cannabear and setup your delivery today! Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Area 51 - The Gift Givers

Just like the eponymous classified area of intrigue in the Southwest US, so too is this Area 51 strain from DC i-71 delivery service, The Gift Givers, unidentified and shrouded in mystery. Its origin is said to have been a cross of Cannatonic and Alien Abduction bred in 2010. However, there are other breeders who have their own version which combines Smurfberry with Snowdawg x Romulan. In any event, this batch runs sativa-dominant, has been finely cultivated, and seems so alien looking you might swear it came from outer space. Given a highly exotic aroma that's super sweet, citrusy, and overtly floral in nature, one could assume they were standing in the middle of a florist shop if blindfolded and put in a room with this Area 51. When the blindfold comes off don't be alarmed by its intimidating other worldly appearance, though. She's a more haze-like sativa with some mental clarity, energetic euphoria, and a headband effect you can almost touch. With fresh terpenes obviously still intact and creating such intense flavor, we prefer to toke this starry trichome laden flower in the bong. Of course, this will also maximize your headband level. But, what is this headband feeling? Is it really an invisible headband? Or, is it some alien device ready to take you on a mental voyage to a tranquil, active mindset? You'll have to find out for yourself. As they say in a certain alien and paranormal investigative show from the 90's, "The Truth is Out There!" So hit up super friendly DC i-71 service The Gift Givers today and experience this Area 51 and its alien abduction-like effects for yourself. Who knows, maybe you'll have a close encounter of the 420 kind! 😂🤦‍♂️

  • Blueberry Muffin - Dreamy DC

***UPDATE: Use promo code "Toker420" and save 10%*** Fresh, frosty, and with a tantalizing skunky but somehow fruity aroma and flavor, this Blueberry Muffin from DC i-71 motivational speech service, Dreamy DC, is exquisite enough for any connoisseur's palate. A heavy indica running around 80/20 in ratio, she stoned me so hard I was geeking out comparing these buds to an actual blueberry muffin from my cupboard. Of course, the eventual result was me eating a completely inappropriate amount of blueberry muffins. 🤤 A cross of Purple Panty Dropper and the legendary indica, Blueberry, this batch is absolutely delectable. If you've ever had a Blueberry Muffin vape cartridge (I happened to have one on hand) then know that this flavor is actually more pronounced and so mouthwatering, that you may begin second guessing the local cart game entirely. In fact, stick your nose in a jar full of this and you may momentarily consider affixing it there with some strong adhesive. Taking a closer look, you can see the plentiful hyper-white trichomes and the mesmerizing interplay of dark purples, lime greens, and the blazing orange stigmas. These buds are as beautiful as they are potently and desirably aromatic. We really like this batch in the bong given its immense flavor and smoothness. It also breaks up a little sticky still so may not be the easiest to maneuver in a joint paper. However, once you do get it squared away in said paper the resulting toke is also highly enjoyable. I guess the ability to cool the fruity, skunkiness in a tube with an ice-catcher makes for that much more of an inundating, enjoyable experience for your taste-buds To get motivated AND check out this phenomenal batch of Blueberry Muffin from Dreamy DC, just hop on their app and book your appointment today! Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Biscotti - DC Dash

From super fast and friendly DC i-71 service, DC Dash, comes this batch of Biscotti. If you're not familiar with Biscotti it's a three-way cross of Gelato #25, GSC, and South Florida OG that leans heavily indica (80/20). While we don't recommend stirring your coffee with this type of biscotti, you can certainly stir up your nighttime routine given its powerfully euphoric effects. With a great nose that's actually quite reminiscent of the Italian style cookie which often accompanies coffee, there are notes of vanilla, cream, and a touch of nuttiness. The aroma passes through to the flavor well, but there's certainly a bit of spice on the exhale, almost like nutmeg. The staggering indica effects produced by these buds are for real and couch-lock is definitely in the cards. But, managed incrementally, you can get a fantastic body buzz that will endure for hours. Expect to be mellow and glassy-eyed with an increased desire to bask in the sun or lounge on the couch. One might even become the lounge lizard of your local coffee shop, with some Biscotti in tow. So, if you're looking for a great indica to add to your coffers, just hit up DC i-71 delivery service DC Dash today and grab some of this Biscotti. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Tour de Runtz - Elevated Lounge

First and foremost I want to say a HUGE congratulations to DC i-71 storefront Elevated Lounge on their 1 Year Anniversary today!!! What a year it has been! If you haven't checked out "Elevated" before, and you really should if you're into great cannabis experiences (also see Elevated Tours), then sit back, relax, and strap on your (metaphorical) seatbelt. As Dr. Dre said, you've never been on a ride like this before. What ride, you ask? Mesdames ea Messieurs, let me present to you le Tour de Runtz! That's right, for their anniversary Elevated has curated three highly exotic Runtz cuts that are all of the highest quality and ready to tantalize your tastebuds with their unique skews on the Runtz flavor profile. In this review, we're going to highlight and formally introduce each version to you. First stop on the tour is the extremely pungent LA Runtz. While Runtz is a Cookies fam cross of Zkittlez and Gelato 33, the LA version has a more secretive lineage that likely includes some Jet Fuel Gelato given the similarities in aroma. That aroma, by the way, is straight f'ing gas. It's super skunky, it's mega funky, and...is that coffee grounds and a touch of hazelnut I smell? What exotic smoke this is! She tokes smooth too, and the consensus seems to be rolling this in joints is ideal. For me, joints can be the best way to get a true sense of how all the different flavor profiles of a sampling like this come to life on your palate, and the nuanced differences between them. With an extremely euphoric body buzz that will give you the "tingles" all over, this Runtz version is a balanced 50/50 with the best of both sativa and indica worlds. You can be super stoney while retaining your ability to be a super star - perfect for the LA culture. The next Runtz contender of the tour is this Strawberry Runtz (Runtz x Strawnana - photos beginning above). Running more on the sativa spectrum, we love this batch's ability to produce an active and alert mind while imparting on you a grand level of euphoria as well. Need to stay motivated AND kick your anxiety to the curb? This Runtz batch is your pick for sure. In the Tour de Runtz, this one is way out in front with the yellow jersey - the race leader able to call on all the energetic abilities it possesses to pull away from the pack. But, let's not forget to mention the delectable, sweet, and fruity aroma/flavor this cut packs. It's like you twisted a Runtz candy machine and ended up with mostly strawberry and banana pieces. Last, but certainly not least, is this Forbidden Runtz (above). A cross of Runtz and Forbidden Zkittlez she runs more indica-heavy and has the powerful, but not too sedative, high to prove it. It's also spectacularly grown, has an amazing amount of trichomes, and her stigmas are still fully intact - a very sexy specimen indeed. If the Runtz on this tour represented characters from a professional bicycle race, the LA Runtz would be the peloton, the Strawberry Runtz would be the leader and king of the mountains, and the Forbidden Runtz would be the person that brings down the whole peloton with a sign. Our favorite in terms of potency, make sure you don't have any thing important left on your to do list before getting toasty on this batch. So jump on your bike (or any mode of transport, really) and head to DC i-71 storefront Elevated Lounge this weekend to share in all their merrymaking and festivities. While you're there take some of these phenomenal Runtz versions out for a spin and see what you think. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Cherry Lemon - Top Level DC

It's funny how sometimes things get a little lost in transmission, much like the old game "telephone" that you likely played in elementary school. With cannabis, sometimes packs get mis-labelled, sometimes someone mis-hears a strain name, other times the name kerfuffle goes all the way back to the breeding. In any case, the last strain in our cherry themed Friday journey is this Cherry Lemon from DC i-71 storefront Top Level DC. I mention the naming issue because I (and the Toker Team) feel that this is actually Lemon Cherry Gelato. Whatever you want to call it, it's definitely extremely potent and ready get you flat out stoned. A little longer in the tooth and more oxidized than we would otherwise prefer, the quality and exotic nature of the genetics cannot be denied. Purple seems to be the foundation for this bud and green has been relegated to making flecks of an appearance here and there. You'll also want to notice the staggering amount of trichomes covering this batch in its entirety. In effects, Lemon Cherry Gelato runs something like 60/40 with a nod to the indica side of the equation. You're probably best reserving this for the late afternoon and evening. It will definitely create an immense body buzz and stoney head high in combination, but it won't necessarily leave you face down in a puddle of your own drool on your couch. Unless, of course, you go super overboard with it - that's on you though. 🤤🤷‍♂️ The Lemon Cherry aspect, to me, comes from the hint of sour and citrus notes in the otherwise overtly creamy, skunky flavor. We love said flavor rolled super fat in a blunt or cannagar because it makes for such an astounding cigar-like experience. To check her out for yourself, and otherwise stock up for the weekend, head over to DC i-71 storefront Top Level today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Cherry Voltage - Euphoria DC

A cross of rare 50/50 strain High Voltage and Cherry Diesel, this Cherry Voltage from DC i-71 storefront Euphoria DC is a sativa-leaning power plant of energy worthy of the word "voltage" in the name. Newbies or those not too experienced with sativa's please beware - too much of this can make you feel pretty spun. Following along with our cherry theme today, this batch has a nose that is also fruity and could be considered of a cherry nature, but my olfactory indicators picked up a great deal of pine and a hint of lemon as well. When compared to the Black Cherry Punch, it's interesting that two strains can be "cherry" but SO different with one leaning indica and harboring immense relaxation (the "Punch") and one so intensely energizing and cerebral (the "Voltage"). Probably best suited for the chillum or one hitter - so you can be more calculated with the intensity - we did end up rolling a few joints of this. Invariably, the social energy, and even calamity, picked up as it was passed around the circle. There were jokes, puns, and other evidence of creativity on display as well. What a fun strain (in the right setting)! You might even say its effects are electric. 😂🤦‍♂️ For your own zap of energy and to charge-up your active mind just head over to DC i-71 storefront Euphoria DC today and grab some Cherry Voltage for your own stash. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Black Cherry Punch - LOCAL'd

There's been a really strong cherry-flavored theme here in the DC cannabis scene recently. We were literally handed three other cherry-oriented varietals after our last review, the Phantom Cherry Pie. All have varying levels of cherry notes in their aroma, but each one is so different. Take this Black Cherry Punch from local harvest, local-brands-only i-71 delivery service LOCAL'd, for example. An indica-dominant hybrid crossbreed of the relatively new, but already legendary, Purple Punch and flavor powerhouse Black Cherry Pie, this has incredibly relaxing effects. Upon pulling a bong rip I could feel the clouds of stress clearing from my headspace and several moments after exhale a rush of euphoric energy poured over my back - something which continued in waves for the duration of the high. Because it's local grown and spends no time in a vacuum sealed bag in transit, this batch is fresh and it makes a big difference in the intensity of the aroma as well as effects. When you give a squeeze or break her up, the effervescent sour cherry-like fruit smell is fully released and can inundate the nostrils in a highly enjoyable way. That bouquet soon shifts, however, as you continue to inhale, resulting in sweeter more sugary notes. Overall, we're really into this batch for our evening sessions and among the other aforementioned cherry strains, this one's aroma stood out as the most close to a specific cherry smell - black cherry. To get your hands on some of the delectably potent and highly relaxing Black Cherry Punch just hit up LOCAL'd today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
