  • Strawberry Cough Sugar Wax - The Garden

***The following is Entry #7 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area.*** Initial Thoughts As a big fan of the old school cultivar, Strawberry Cough, I couldn't help but get excited about ripping down on some sugar wax derived from said strain. Would it be the super-charged sativa experience I recall? If the aroma has anything to do with it then I believe the answer is yes! Appearance It's a bit darker orange that some of the other sugar specimens, but this IS "wax". Status Moist in some parts, gritty and drier in others. Aroma Tart, tangy, and with a funky musk to it. Flavor The tart and tanginess come out more in the flavor along with some gassy notes. Lineage Strawberry Cough is a classic sativa-dominant cross of Haze and Strawberry Fields. Effects The effects were spot on with the strong sativa and haze influences that I remember. There was a head rush of energy at first which then extended into the rest of my body and I found my self being re-invigorated with creativity and sprightliness though late in the afternoon. One of the most ironic aspects, however, was that with a name that has "cough" in it, I actually didn't cough at all - a testament to this batches smoothness. Conclusion Old school heads who recall Strawberry cough with affinity and fond memories will enjoy basking in the splendor of this sugar wax's buzz for sure. It's heady, it's tangy, and it'll keep you pumped up and going strong for hours. To grab some for yourself head over to DC i-71 storefront The Garden ASAP and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Donkey Butter - The Gift Givers

***We've asked our highly knowledgeable friends over at the Northern Virginia Cannabis Enthusiasts (NVCE) to assist with our concentrate reviews for Dab Week. The following is Entry #6 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area. Initial Thoughts I’m walking into this session like I’m about to walk into the ring for a bout with Iron Mike. Donkey Butter doesn’t come to you with the typical label of “hybrid.” No, this is nearly a pure indica, so expect it to pack a punch that can put you down for the count. Appearance The Donkey Butter concentrate has a beautiful amber/gold consistency and comes packaged in a black porcelain container, which may or may not resemble some of your partners make-up. Don’t stress if you accidentally leave it on their vanity after ripping a quick pre-errands dab, though. The very “child-proof” top is certain to deter anyone who doesn’t really know what’s inside. Status Moist and slightly gritty, it's akin to something you might confuse with whipped apple butter. Aroma The aroma matches the typical descriptors for the strain that is “juiced” to create this product. It's gassy and fruity, but you can also catch whiffs of earth and hints of menthol on the back end. Flavor It’s hard to get an initial flavor on this one because I was mostly focused on keeping my lungs intact during take off. On the exhale I did taste some delicious citrus along with what seemed like jet fuel and hints of chocolate. Lineage Donkey Butter is a cross of two current heavyweight contenders on the market, Grease Money and Triple OG. Grease Monkey is a cross of the ever popular GG4, which itself comes from the amazing Chemdawg, and Cookies and Cream. I knew I tasted chocolate! Triple OG, on the other hand, comes from an “unknown” or secret recipe, so that’s about as far as we can take that one. Note, however, that OG's typically have kushy indica traits. Effects “Just a dab ‘ll do you” they always say...well, that saying most definitely applies to this Donkey Butter because a tiny bit will go a long, long way. Turn to this indica heavy-hitter for those days and nights when you REALLY need to relax, hard. The couch lock is real, but couldn't be cozier and, oh yea, you better have some snacks on hand because this is going to inspire some serious munchies. Conclusion Even if you’re a seasoned dab pro this Donkey Butter has the potency to send you to the canvas if you're not careful. Yet, for indica lovers a right-sized dab will make you feel like a champ after just one hit. To give this batch a couple rounds in the ring yourself just hit up The Gift Givers today and place your order. Don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • OG Skywalker Diamonds - The Green Room

***The following is Entry #4 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area.*** Initial Thoughts Happy Dab Week everybody! Check out this dab worthy specimen from DC i-71 storefront The Green Room. I was not familiar with Boomba Labs until this gorgeous batch of OG Skywalker diamonds slid across my desk. Now, I'm eager to become better acquainted. What can I say? I love ddddiiiiiiiiiaaamonnnddsssss. So, what's a girl to do? 💎 Appearance ...and the answer is crack this baby open and have a look in side. What greeted my eye an instant later were these sparkling, pale yellow, translucent crystals. All I could say was, "Ohhh they're so pretty!" Status Cold (fresh from refrigeration), round, shiny, and ready to roast. Aroma It's a subtle aroma that's very floral and slightly gasoline. Hard to compare to anything other than fresh flowers, but even harder to pin down what type. Let's call it a bouquet of fresh wild flowers...with a nearby gas can. Flavor More of the same with floral accents and a skunky, gassy aftertaste. Lineage Skywalker OG is a cross of Skywalker and OG Kush that's indica heavy at something like 85/15. Skywalker itself is famous for its pungent skunky and earthy flavor, but runs more balanced than its OG blended offspring. Effects Very powerful indica effects. This one possesses the means for a tremendous whole body high that sent me sprawling on the couch - and nearly the floor. One would expect diamonds to be extremely potent due to the high THC content, but this batch seems to have captured a good amount of terpenes and cannabinoids even though the sample isn't very saucy. It's this entourage effect along with the THC that has you visiting the Cloud City from The Empire Strikes Back (in your mind of course). <-The Toker's Guide team said that given the name I had to work in a Star Wars reference or two. Conclusion You'll want to hold on to your lightsaber when you take dabs of these OG Skywalker Diamonds, but if you're looking for something solidly in the indica column with immense potency, this is it. No need to jump to hyperspace to get your hands on them, either. Just head to DC i-71 storefront The Green Room today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Boo Berry Live Badder by 710 Labs - Monko

***The following is Entry #3 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area.*** Initial Thoughts When I hear the name 710 labs I instantly think creme de la creme of cannabis. That's because every time I've experienced their concentrates, or flower for that matter, I've been sincerely impressed. This batch of Boo Berry Live Badder by 710's local resources and currently available at DC i-71 storefront, Monko, is no exception. In fact, I could tell from first breach of the secondary metallic seal that this was legit af. Appearance While the packaging is gorgeous in and of itself, real dabbers will know - just like so many things in this world - the real beauty is on the inside. Yes, this golden, shimmering live batter could win beauty contests in a world that's more accepting of concentrate. Status Terpenes are near fully Intact here and this has been kept in pristine condition since packaging. The only other word that comes to mind is "juicy". Aroma This might sound a little old school, but to me this has the exact aroma of Kiwi Strawberry Snapple. Flavor It's remarkably berry-flavored with sweet and tart nuances that make it so delectable you won't want to put it down. Incidentally, I'm hitting it in my Storz & Bickel "Mighty" vaporizer with a specially designed stone for concentrate. I'm running it at 365 degrees which is super low, but definitely maximizes the flavor. Lineage The Boo Berry cultivar is an indica dominant hybrid whose genetics, which are actually listed on the box, are Blueberry x (Afhani #1 x Northern Lights #5 x Pakistani). Effects This is a joyfully stoney strain with many traits of the best indica's and the addition of a very cerebral-centered buzz. I feel mellow and cheery, but still interested in bobbing along to some reggae music. There's a distinct starry-eyed feeling that I've noticed often comes with Northern Lights influenced varietals. It's also enjoyably psychedelic in the thought patterns it seems to induce. Conclusion For the experienced dabbers out there, it doesn't get much better than this when it comes to indica-influenced and sweetly potent terp blasts of perfectly produced badder. There's good reason why people speak so highly of 710 Labs and I encourage one and all who are interested in the concentrate game to head in to Monko and check this out for yourselves. When you do, don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Limeade Kush Cured Sugar by Strane - Liberty Cannabis, Rockville (Maryland Medical)

Initial Thoughts I've found Strane concentrates to be very good in the past, but I haven't had a chance to try the Limeade Kush Cured Sugar...until now! It smells mega citrusy and refreshing, and I've been on the hunt for another balanced hybrid to add to my collection. Testing at 77.87% THCA & 9.65 % total terpenes, this batch is bursting with aroma and flavor that will make your mouth water long after the dab. Appearance Wet sugary crystals in a rich honey colored sauce. Structure This sugar wax holds its shape nicely and is scoop-able. Status This comes in a black screw top glass container which should help keep out any light. The product seems to have been stored in the fridge, which is a good sign that the dispensary cares for their concentrates properly while they have them in their possession. Aroma This smells just like the "Cherry Limeade" flower from their Garcia Hand Picked line to me, but with more intensity being that it's in a concentrated form. Cherry and lime are definitely the distinct smells here. Flavor It's got a tart, limey, citrus taste on the inhale, with a smooth Cherry OG flavor on the exhale. Lineage Cherry Limeade is a balanced hybrid that results from the crossing of Cherry Pie and Black Lime Reserve. Effects I dabbed this one in my rig and it was a smooth experience with minimal clean up in the banger. I proceeded to feel a euphoric wave of energy allowing my body and shoulders to relax while also enabling me to zone out a bit mentally too. I'd say it's actually more indica leaning in terms of effects, but the profile says balanced and I suppose I could have been in and out of my sedative state if I chose to move around more. But, I didn't.🤤 Conclusion I would suggest this Strane Limeade Kush Cured Sugar to anyone interested in dabbing or adding a little spice of something to your joint, blunt or bowl. It's packed full of terpenes and has flavor and potency levels high enough for a concentrate connoisseur's palate. You can currently find it at Liberty in Rockville, Oxen Hill, and a variety of other dispensaries that carry Strane products throughout Maryland. Don't forget to let your budtender know that you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Tropicanna Banana Lounge Budder - Elevated Lounge

***We've asked our highly knowledgeable friends over at the Northern Virginia Cannabis Enthusiasts (NVCE) to assist with our concentrate reviews for Dab Week. The following is Entry #2 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area. Initial Thoughts I walked into this session with an open mind, a clean rig, and a full torch ready to take Dab Week by the horns...or should I say fins? It's a bit like shark week I feel. Anyhow, today our sample comes from Elevated Lounge, a local i-71 compliant provider in NW DC. The fact that we are sampling a budder vs a butter is already a positive point in my book, but with a name like Tropicanna Banana consider my curiosity piqued! Appearance We eat with our eyes right? Well, dabbing should be no different. When inspecting the packaging of this particular concentrate you can tell you’re in for a real tasty treat. The clear container bottom allows you to instantly take in the glorious golden aura of this incredible concoction and, as you’re impatiently waiting for the first taste, your mouth launches into intense salivation. Status Opening the jar of the Lounge Budder releases the unbelievable combination of exotic terps carefully concealed within. Elevated Lounge certainly took some great care to prepare this product and the consistency is that of actual ghee. As a chef it’s almost tempting to just slather some on a piece of warm toast, but no we’re sampling this the real way - we’re taking hits like Young Buck! Aroma Incredibly terpy, the pungent aroma of the Lounge Budder leaves the cilia in your nostrils clinging to the scent for good reason. Citrus, gas, sharpie, earth, am I missing anything? Every waft provides a new color of flavor to enjoy. Flavor The shades definitely match the curtains. All the flavors associated with the aromas described above hit my palette when ripping a questionably large dab that may or may not leave me incapacitated for the next few foreseeable hours. Lineage Tropicanna Banana is a sativa-leaning cross of Tropicanna (GSC x Tangie) and Banana Kush originally bred by Barney's Farm. It was recently reviewed by Toker's Guide and the same batch in that review is the same one used to make this Lounge Budder. Effects The effects are instant. I, for one, took what I consider a massive dab while watching my buddy rip one the size a normal human being would take. I sat in peace enjoying the head rush while waiting for my lungs to implode, but was shocked when they didn’t. I repeat, they did not. This product did not cause any sort of dab pain; It was incredibly smooth considering the giant glob that melted into the banger which also notably left no nasty residue. Then, as soon as you’re done not coughing and realizing how bad it didn’t hurt, you can focus on the fact that you were stuck for damn near 30 minutes wondering what to do next. As the experience went on, I realized that the name (Lounge Budder) seemed to match the effects in a unique way. It's a good choice for relaxation and calming, zen type needs, but without any heavy sedative effects. The head rush is for real, but leads to vibrant thoughts and an energetic mindset while your body is still melding with the couch in a cozy way. It's certainly not your standard sativa leaning effects, but some combination where your head is sativa charged and your body is emphatically mellow. Conclusion This may not be for the faint of heart, or novice smokers in large amounts - always start small to test your tolerance. However, those with a more seasoned dabber's resume will bask in the sheer intensity and glow of this budder's awesome effects (which is to say nothing of its mouthwatering flavor). Invariably, this is one ye connoisseurs will have to try for yourselves to fully believe. Head to Elevated Lounge today to add this Tropicanna Banana budder to your own collection and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gary Cream Cake Sugar - The Gift Givers

***We've asked our highly knowledgeable friends over at the Northern Virginia Cannabis Enthusiasts (NVCE) to assist with our concentrate reviews for Dab Week. The following is Entry #1 for the best all around Dab in the DMV area. Initial Thoughts This Gary Cream Cake from DC i-71 delivery service, The Gift Givers, doesn’t pull much background information as a strain itself. However, it doesn't take a weed detective to safely assume this is a cross, or combination if you will, of the strains Gary Payton and Ice Cream Cake - both very popular in their own right. Appearance This Gary Cream Cake, or "Gary Scream Cake" as I prefer to call it, has a consistency closer to a sugar. It's slightly finer than everyone's favorite unfit friend, your average chunky crumble, and it's already separated into perfect dab granules which you can easily cluster together to custom fit your own dab size. Aroma I call it that good-good skunk smell. It's that kind of funky nostalgic aroma that mentally sends you back to your original heydays of reefer madness. Flavor This is one with flavor that matches the aroma; a skunky, piney and fruity funk that will leave you wanting another round just so you don’t forget how damn good it tastes. Lineage Gary Payton is a top-level collaboration between two famous breeders: Cookies and PowerZzz Genetics. They created this NBA star’s namesake by crossing The Y, or i Griega in Español, with Snowman OG - the offspring of GSC from Cookies. Ice Cream Cake is a cross containing Gelato, but this time Gelato #33, and the ever popular Wedding Cake. A “matchrimony” made in stoner heaven. 😂🤦‍♂️ Effects The incredibly euphoric uppity high provided by Gary’s sativa gene pool is well complimented by the equally powerful Indica vibes of the Ice Cream Cake influence. This is one you could safely enjoy midday, evening, or hell, even the first dab of the day if you so desire. It’s an exceedingly level hybrid that won’t be toying with your emotions or basic motor functions while enjoying a pleasantly powerful buzz. Conclusion Newb, novice, amateur, Heavyweight champion of the world, or Joe Schmo. Everyone who dabs can certainly agree on one thing: Gary Cream Cake is not one to be slept on. Always look to keep this concentrate, or a similar balanced hybrid, in your dab arsenal for a guaranteed good time. Hit up The Gift Givers to scoop some for yourself today and don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Panama Punch by The Bank - Cannabist, Carytown (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts This batch of Panama Punch from Cannabist in Carytown (Richmond, VA area) and cultivated by The Bank is the perfect tropical blend ready to send you to paradise. It’s a rare occasion when I find a sativa dominant strain that suits my needs. I prefer relaxing and euphoric strains but there are times when I need a clear minded burst of energy to help me get through my day. Prepare yourself for beautiful and tasty buds that are rumored to help with creativity, fatigue and headaches. Appearance There's nice jar appeal on these buds because of the long and abundant trichomes. The buds consist of dark and lighter greens; just like the pistils that range in shades of orange. Structure Spear-shaped buds that are fluffy and hand trimmed. Status Curing. Aroma Sweet with a light berry undertone. Breaking them open releases a strong peppery smell. Flavor Hints of tropical fruits and berries with a hazy earthy aftertaste - very delicious. Lineage Panama Punch is a cross of Panama Mean Green and Neville’s Haze that runs sativa dominant (70/30). Effects Initially, it started off as a very cerebral and heady high where my thoughts began to race. As I progressed, a mental clarity assisted in subduing a hyperaware state. Creativity sparked and a bout of the munchies crept up on me. This strain is perfect for someone looking to solve issues with appetite. I also think this the perfect strain to enjoy in nature, especially for walking the dogs or even a hike. It makes laziness disappear and activity seems to feel especially good. Conclusion The Bank continues to stake their claim as the best medical cannabis cultivator in the state of VA, presently. This Panama Punch was a flavorful treat that was exactly what I look for in a sativa dominant hybrid. Like most sativas this may induce anxiety if you are prone to that. However, for any experienced user it's a great strain to add to your daily routine to help promote productivity and a clear headspace. You can pick up some Panama Punch for your own stash at Cannabist in Carytown ASAP. Be sure to mention that Toker’s Guide sent you their way!

  • Cherry Lemon OG - Exotic Organics

Initial Thoughts Cherry Lemon OG is currently available from DC i-71 delivery service Exotic Organics. This strain really drew me in initially because Cherry Pie is one of my all time favorite strains. Seeing it come to life in many great crosses gives me faith that there will be more cherry strains in the works for years to come! Appearance These fairly sizable buds feel firm to the touch. Note there are purple undertones within the layers of densely packed, gleaming green. Status The flower feels fresh. When grinding by hand it's almost like there are little green pearls that form when I rub my fingers together due to the stickiness. Aroma Sour cherry, gas, and notes of musk and earth. Flavor A succulent cherry inhalation. In the exhale, it’s strongly reminiscent of grandma's bowl of sweet strawberry hard candies that lingers like a satisfying fruity dessert. This delectable strain truly left me salivating. Lineage Cherry Lemon OG is a sativa-dominant hybrid cross of Jack the Ripper and Cherry Pie OG. Effects Soon after taking my first hit of this flower I began to feel an urge motivating me to make conversation as well as a creative push to apply myself artistically. I was lounging but paying close attention to my thoughts. It was very heady, yet gave a sense of ease to my body aches and anxieties that sometimes hold me back from being my most creative, easy-going self. I could see this being a very social strain at times, but also allowing the freedom to dive deep and do positive work within one's own self. Conclusion From my experience, I feel that this Lemon Cherry OG has the potential to induce a more positive mindset, easing social and personal distresses. I really enjoyed the artistic and creative energy it inspired too, along with the immensely cerebral high. I can't wait to pick up some more! To give this tasty and inspiring flower a try for yourself just hit up the always kind and punctual Exotic Organics today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gelatti - The Green Room

Initial Thoughts The very rare and exotic Gelatti Strain is highly coveted as being one of the most flavorful and terpene rich varieties available on the market right now. This batch from DC i-71 storefront The Green Room, in particular, has beautifully fresh buds with good trichome coverage, a pungent funky aroma, and perfectly balanced hybrid effects. Appearance These buds are dense and spherical with purple highlights and long skinny orange pistils. The thickness of the trichomes makes them look almost fuzzy to me. Status Dried and cured like it's supposed to be. Careful consideration was taken to ensure it was properly manicured and stored. Aroma The aroma is sour with undertones of a sweet fruity nature and hints of diesel and skunk. I also detect an aroma of baked bread or cake, which I attribute to the biscotti background. Flavor The flavor very much matches the aroma with the distinct taste of sweet and sour fruit on the inhale that morphs into a menthol gassy combo as you exhale. Lineage Gelatti is a cross of Gelato and Biscotti that's evenly balanced at 50/50 in terms of indica/sativa ratio. Effects Since this strain very distinctly follows the hybrid pathways, as you could imagine, the high you feel from it is not overly indica or penetratingly sativa. I found the well-balanced buzz allowed me to be highly productive, while also having just the right amount of chill vibes to put my mind at ease from the stresses of the week. I smoked this one on a Sunday morning and the relaxing effects lasted well into the afternoon. I was alert and functional during the lazy day that it was - I didn’t float off to LaLa Land, but I also wasn't frantically buzzing around like I had a head full of sativa. It was a great all around buzz that I would enjoy again and again. Conclusion This flower is one of the most perfectly balanced hybrids in my opinion. Well cultivated and harvested this is connoisseur quality cannabis flower and The Green Room is the place to get it. Hit them up ASAP before it disappears and don't forget to let them know that KannaBus Ben at Toker’s Guide sent you their way!

  • LA Baker by Garcia Handpicked - Liberty Cannabis, Rockville (MD Medical)

Initial Thoughts LA Baker is a strain from Holistic Industries that's part of their Garcia Hand Picked collection and currently available at Maryland medical cannabis dispensary Liberty Rockville. I'm familiar with and very fond of another Garcia Hand Picked strain, Florida Kush, which is a similar kushy cross of LA Kush Cake by the same breeder, Jungle Boys. This batch, in particular, came out gorgeous, pungent, and potent with some intensely heavy trichomes. I'm psyched that Holistic Industries is bringing these types of enticing and sought after strains from such renowned breeders to my home state of Maryland! Appearance These beautiful light green nuggets have fiery orange pistils and are completely covered in a thick coating of snowy trichomes. Structure Compact, but more fluffy than dense in composition. The immense amount of trichomes make it a great cultivar for hash production. Status Very fresh with lots of resin, starry and white trichomes. Becomes very sticky when breaking it up. Aroma Strong, distinctive cake and fuel smells. Flavor Delectable dessert elements and classic cake flavors create a really smooth creamy inhale, and a sweet but gassy exhale. Lineage LA Baker is a popular new age creation and indica dominant hybrid from Jungle Boys that's a cross of LA Kush Cake #4 and Jungle Cake. Effects Smoking a joint of this batch made me feel creative, but in a leisurely way. My mind had fluid, nebulous thoughts and I was dancing around with a smile on my face at the beginning of my experience. However, as soon as I sat down to watch a movie I began to feel immense relaxation and euphoria set in. The calming vibes washed over me with greater and greater intensity and I soon made myself even cozier by going horizontal on my couch. Eventually the heaviness of the body buzz overpowered my interest in the movie and I drifted off to a magnificent night's rest. Conclusion If you're a fan of cake strains I definitely suggest picking up some LA Baker! Testing over 30% THC the potency cannot be overstated and the terpene levels are significant too coming in at a total of 2.3%. Its indica dominance is obvious and it makes for the perfect wind down to a long day. Liberty's dispensaries tend to keep it well-stocked and share it with other MD dispensaries as well, so it's an often available option across the state. Wherever you find it don't forget to mention you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Baklava by Seed & Strain - gLeaf Short Pump (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts Baklava, brought to you by Seed and Strain, is almost as fun to say as it is to burn. Just like the pastry this cultivar is a treat for after dinner and is guaranteed to lock you into the couch in even moderate amounts. I’ve been looking around for a good pain management option and Baklava is rumored to help numb it away. This particular batch is from gLeaf in Short Pump Virginia, but have seen it on other menus throughout the Commonwealth as well. Appearance Bright green with plentiful trichomes and burn orange hairs. Structure Coniferous and dense, but light and crisp. Status Curing. Aroma Earthiness accompanied by hints of diesel fuel. There’s a sharpness to the smell that cuts right into your nose. Flavor A tart and creamy smoke flavor. Not the nutty sweet flavor that the pastry has, but nonetheless delicious in its own way. Lineage Baklava is an indica dominant cross of Kosher Kush and Gelato 41 that runs 60/40. Effects The first thing that took over my body was a calming warmth, which was to my benefit since it was just above freezing outside. As I continued to take some tokes, my mind began to wander to all the good places. I began to space out gazing at the moon and constellations mindlessly taking draw after draw. The last hits left me lifted and removed any negative thoughts for the rest of the night. My mouth did dry up a bit, but a few trips to the pantry fixed that for me. After about an hour, I was able to settle into bed and was able to fall asleep comfortably. Conclusion This strain is perfect for the beginner smoker looking to avoid bouts of paranoia, or the experienced user who wants to use the benefits from some true medicine. I’ll be sure to pick up some more Baklava as Seed and Strain releases new batches since I know I can count on it for my needs. Next time you stop in at gLeaf know you can’t go wrong grabbing this strain. Be sure to let them know Toker’s Guide sent you!
