I've always been a huge fan of Cake profiles, and have practically spoiled myself with them at this point. As much as I love variety, it can be hard not to mix Cake strains with everything and anything simply for their taste alone. As a consultant, hearing a patient say they are looking for "a hybrid with great flavor", is practically music to my ears. Some strains provide smoking experiences so enjoyable that they spoil your palate completely with their sweet and alluring profiles, and this is one of those strains.
Now that I mention it, Wedding Cake was one of the first strains that I was always excited to circle back for. It provided relaxation often comparable to some of the best OG's, yet its sweeter smoking experience made it stand out entirely. It's an indica-dominant hybrid so delightful it only makes sense for it to have been crossed so many times. In this instance, Alternative Solutions has crossed Wedding Cake with both Grape Pie and Jungle Cake to create Zack's Cake. Incidentally, Jungle Cake itself is actually a combination of Wedding Cake and a potent White Fire OG phenotype.
As a Cake lover nothing excited me more than this strain when I picked it up. However, I was slightly disappointed by the initial nose test. Although it smelled really good, and there was some undeniable sweetness, its smell seemed a bit milder in comparison to other Wedding Cake profiles. As gorgeous as the buds were, the smell it gave off was more comparable to that of sweet baked bread than cake.
My partner loved it instantly, as it put her right at a level where she could enjoy her music and clean around the house stress-free without feeling groggy. I, on the other hand, was blown away at how smooth this strain was. Rather than sweetness with a gassy finish, Zack's cake offers an almost chai cinnamon-like exhale that is pleasurable and feels instantly rewarding. I also ran into its mood elevation immediately, especially with how talkative I became. Slowly the relief it provided spread to other areas of my body and left me feeling at ease, yet still present socially.
Zack's Cake is a euphoric and blissful experience that makes its way all the way down to your toes, but leaves you in a headspace to create or enjoy time with others if you choose. As you socialize or coast through this elated state you may start to feel more light and at ease before it floats you back down peacefully whenever you choose to rest.
