- Appalachian Haze by Grow West - RISE, Silver Spring (Maryland Recreational)
Initial Thoughts One of the sativa options that i've been really psyched to try this season is this batch of Appalachian Haze cultivated by Grow West and recently available at RISE dispensary in Silver Spring, MD. If you're not familiar with Grow West they're craft cultivators out of Cumberland, MD who are fabled to have been turning out some excellent flower since inception. From George, their black bear mascot, to their Soar, Steady, Still effects rating system, they've peaked my interest. Of course, as a big sativa fan I'm mostly ready to Soar and, by the looks of it, that shouldn't be any problem in this case. 🦅 Appearance Fluffy, light green, turquoise tinted buds with lots of frosty white and starry trichomes. Status Fresh, but starting to cure. Aroma Refreshing with a floral essence and notes of citrus along with a hard to place spice. The amalgamation certainly recalls memories of mountain air and vegetation. Perhaps Mountain Laurel more specifically. Flavor Smooth, but vibrant on the palate with notes of citrus, pepper, cream, and a hint of earth in the exhale. Lineage The Appalachian Haze Strain is a cross of Miami Heat, Miami Haze, and Triple OG that runs sativa dominant. Effects These uplifting, highly cerebral, and creativity inspiring effects come on quickly and are great for morning and afternoon sessions. I found the headspace clear and focused while the physical effects were euphoric and without any edginess. For me, personally, it soothed my digestive discomfort and helped with muscular aches and soreness as well. Perhaps the best part was how it made even the most mundane tasks seem enjoyable and kept a grin on my face for nearly the duration of the high. Conclusion I'm quite fond of the Appalachian Mountains in all their majestic, natural beauty. Therefore, I suppose it's only appropriate that a strain designed and named for them would appeal to me so much. The energetic, mood enhancing aspects and heady effects were spot on and definitely had me "soaring" for hours. My one and only regret is that I haven't had a chance to take the jar for a hike...yet. 🥾🏕 To grab some for yourself and check out other fantastic Grow West varietals hit them up or head to RISE, Silver Spring today. - Nick's Candy - Hotbox Uptown
Initial Thoughts While the kiddies are out trick-or-treating and filling their pillow cases with candy this Halloween, we adults can be indulging in a different sort of candy - the cannabis kind. You might think i'm referring to edibles, but in this case I mean the sweet, sweet varietal that is this Nick's Candy from DC i-71 marijuana dispensary, Hotbox Uptown. 🍬 Appearance Green and purple buds with a layer of heavy white trichomes and reddish-orange pistils. Status Starting to cure. Aroma A sweet candy-like scent with notes of pine and tart berries. Flavor A mix of sour and sweet with pine and hints of fruit. Lineage The Nick's Candy strain has unknown genetics. Effects As what seems to be a slightly indica dominant hybrid, this batch of Nick's candy has a mix of uplifting cerebral qualities with a mellow and euphoric body high. It is gleeful to experience the onset and after a few minutes the feel-so-good tingles that wash over you let you know that there's indica influence at work. Great for afternoon or evening time, but there's not enough focus factor to take on any complex tasks - besides, maybe, handing out candy. Conclusion For your own sweet Halloween treat that rolls up easy, burns smooth, and provides a cheerfully stoney buzz look no further than this batch of Nick's Candy. There's no reason to go knocking on random people's doors to get it either, just head to Hotbox Uptown today and be sure to mention that Toker’s Guide sent you!

- Spooky Halloween Treats - Cannabake DC
The culinary geniuses over at Cannabake DC have brought to life some amazing infused creations just in time for Halloween. Each is available at up to 100mg THC upon order and you can even make custom orders - or leave it to their creative baking brains. Either way, they look so alive it's totally spooky! I accentuate the cake pops in this review because they're just awesome. I mean, there are cake pops...and then there are CAKE POPS. These are the latter and it's mostly because the cake on the inside is SO scrumptious. If you thought the cake pops looked alive with their cyclops and three-eyed faces, then wait until you see these Franken-crispies. I swear the one kept looking at the other one as if it was trying to go cannibalistic. Luckily, I got there first and took a huge bite out of them both! While not as spooky, their cupcakes are some of the best around - infused or not. If you like fun-fetti then you're in for a real treat here too. They have the same soft, delectable cake as the pops, but this time with sprinkles baked in! To have these spooktacular edibles at your Halloween party this weekend (or whenever) reach out to Cannabake DC and place your order ASAP. They're the first place I go for edibles in DC and this time of year the reason is simply because all their treats are so scary good! Don't forget to mention you heard about them on Toker's Guide.
