  • Stardawg Guava - gLeaf, Short Pump (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts: Anytime I see a phenotype with "dawg" in the name I know I'm in for a treat. This includes heater strains like Stardawg, Chemdawg, Chem Sis, and Tres Dawg to name a few. Everything great about these "dawg" genes has carried over to this Stardawg Guava, cultivated by The Bank and currently available at gLeaf Short Pump. It leans slightly sativa and gives a burst of energy at first, which turns into a calming body high eventually. The Bank has recently been curating some of my favorite weed in the VA program and this batch is now at the top of that list. Appearance: Vibrant green with touches of dark green scattered throughout the buds. The trichomes are still starry in some places, but most are tinted slightly yellow from curing. Structure: The buds are fluffy and spear-shaped, but still squishy and sticky to the touch. Status: Curing. Aroma: After leaving the jar open in my office and leaving for a second, I returned to the room filled with a stark weed smell. The buds still smell fresh and there's a sharp chem smell that mixes with some earthiness creating a highly enjoyable scent that excited me as I began to roll my joint. Flavor: Sweet, fruity, and cheesy with hints of gas. Lineage: A sativa dominant (60/40) cross of Stardawg, Chemdawg, and Tres Dawg known for its mega pungent chemical aroma that's somehow also fruity in a tropical way. Effects: The high from Stardawg Guava came on strong and was energetic with a mental focus factor at first. I was able to clear my mind and concentrate on many tasks at hand. Household chores - even the mundane task of cleaning dishes - were strangely enjoyable. There was no uncomfortable edginess like some sativas and the body high was definitely more indica-esque, in my opinion. Once the energy subsided I was left in a mellow state of euphoria with a heavy case of the munchies. Conclusion: Next time you come across Stardawg Guava I highly recommend adding it to your stash. It's a great option for nearly any time of day and one that can keep you feeling fully medicated while retaining focus, energy, and sociability. The Bank's version is certainly one to seek out and they continue to impress with their new line up - they've truly left the crusty dry buds from VA's initial medical market in the past. Offered at their highest tier, “Cache” cultivated strains are truly for the connoisseurs that want the best smoking experience in Virginia. You can find The Bank at Gleaf in Short Pump, but it's also regularly stocked at Beyond Hello as well. Either way, be sure to mention that your buddies over at Toker’s Guide sent you!

  • Limeade - Cheeba DC

Initial Thoughts: I'm in love with this batch of Limeade from DC cannabis (i-71) storefront Cheeba. It's got a funky, zesty, citrus aroma with hints of gasoline, pinesol, and skunk. You might easily mistake it for some Lemon Cherry Gelato at first, but once you roll it up and partake the immensely uplifting sativa buzz lets you know it's distinctly more energizing. Appearance: Bright green with flecks of dark turquoise beneath a heavy layer of hyper-white trichomes. Status: Fresh, but beginning to cure. Aroma: Lemon-lime zest with hints of pinesol, gas, and skunk. The longer you smell it the more complex the aroma seems to get. Flavor: A splendid combination of citrus, pine, musk, and skunk that makes you want to roll it up constantly. Even the aftertaste makes you want to lick your lips. Lineage: The genetic lineage of Limeade is unclear due to the multitude of different cultivars with that name. However, the one that has been referenced in several places is Key Lime Pie Cookies x Grateful Breath, which is described as a balanced, but energetic cerebral high - seems fitting to me. Effects: This batch absolutely rips and will blast you off with an immediate cerebral high that is very uplifting, in my opinion. You may find yourself doing jumping stars and skipping across the room after pulling a nice tube of this, but eventually you'll make your way back to a more calm and euphoric state of bliss. Note that it's not a great one for mental clarity, however, as the mindscape it creates is what I would describe as "spacey". Conclusion: More fire from one of our favorite DC shops! Those looking for a fantastic daytime treat with funky, citrusy flavor worthy of a connoisseur's palate look no further than this batch of Limeade from Cheeba DC. Hit them up today to grab some for yourself and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Orange Cookies - Exotic Organics

Initial Thoughts: This is one super sexy batch of Orange Cookies now available from DC cannabis delivery aficionados, Exotic Organics. Not only does their mega pungent citrus aroma overtake you instantly upon breaking the seal, but these gorgeous buds show little - if any - sign of compression from storage and have spectacular fresh trichomes galore. Appearance: Neon green buds with orange hairs and heavy coverage of starry trichomes. Status: Fresh. Aroma: Staggeringly strong citrus aroma full of mandarin oranges, lemon zest, and sugar cookie. Hints of skunk and coffee grounds as well. Flavor: A delicious combination of citrus, sweet, and earthiness that makes you want to hit it again and again. Lineage: Orange Cookies is a cross of Orange Juice and Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) that runs either balanced or slightly sativa dominant. Known for it's amazing citrusy flavor and aroma. Effects: This batch packed a cerebral high that gave rise to an energetic headspace while at the same time instilling a sense of calm across my body. The euphoric aspects steadily grew and after about 20 minutes I had a cozy buzz that seemed to go well with the remaining citrus-tinged smoke and created an exotic tropical vibe. I also recall musing about how it was like I was viewing the world through orange-tinted glasses - though I wasn't wearing any eyewear at all. 🤓 Conclusion: We got the word out pretty quickly about this phenomenal batch of Orange Cookies, but you'll still want to get in touch with Exotic Organics ASAP to catch some for yourself. After all, harvests this choice don't stick around very long. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Crippy by The Bank - gLeaf, Short Pump (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts: Check out this Crippy flower grown by boutique cannabis cultivators, The Bank, and available from VA medical cannabis dispensary gLeaf in Short Pump, Virginia. This is my first time picking up flower by The Bank, but I was happy with my choice. They distribute it in glass jars, which play into the premium “Gold” level this is marketed at. A common complaint across the industry in Virginia is how the buds dry out since it takes the Board of Pharmacy forever to approve products. The glass jar used here is a decent solution to this challenge as it can help preserve freshness and terpene levels. Appearance: This Crippy is super frosty and the orange hairs really stand out on the bright green buds. Structure: These buds are super dense. There’s barely any give when I try to squeeze it between my fingers. Status: Fully cured, but note that The Bank also throws in a Boveda pack to help with humidity. Aroma: Earthy and reminiscent of a sweet springtime floral bouquet. Flavor: Earthy and floral much like the aroma. Every hit left a peppery aftertaste in my mouth that lingered for a while after smoking. Lineage: Crippy is a cross of Lemon Thai and Hindu Kush that is then crossed with Chemdawg. Effects: I would say this is a balanced hybrid with uplifting aspects. It gave me a lot of focus to help make my day quite productive, but also provided feelings of euphoria and an enhanced positive mood. Conclusion: I'll definitely be looking to pick up more strains by The Bank. Everything about their batch of Crippy impressed me from the pretty nugs and the 20%+ THC to the high terpene levels and, especially, the buzz. I’ve smoked Crippy before, but that was back when I was a Florida MMJ patient. Hopefully, now I will have regular access to it again and can plan to pick it up whenever it's in stock - and you can too. Don't forget to tell gLeaf you heard about it on Toker's Guide when you grab some for your own stash!

  • Truffle - The Green Room

Initial Thoughts: This batch of Truffle (aka Trufflez) from DC i-71 storefront The Green Room has one of the most pungent aroma's I've encountered recently, and seasoned tokers will know this is fire as soon as it hits their nostrils. The heavy trichomes and rich purple hues also tell me these are some great genetics and that it will be a highly potent flower to partake in. Appearance: Rich forrest green buds with lime and purple accents. Heavy trichomes that are still starry in places and white in others. Status: Still fresh but starting to cure. Aroma: An intensely pungent flower with an aroma that is hard to place, but something like a combination of gasoline, pine, butter, musk, and something sour (but not fruity). Flavor: The mouth on this batch is staggering and a testament to just how dripping in terpenes these buds are. It's a skunky gas with a creamy butteriness that soon turns to pine and savory notes on the exhale. There are also hints of roasted coffee beans at times. This is some exotically delicious flower for sure! Lineage: The Truffle cultivar is an indica-dominant hybrid that resulted from the crossing of Zkittlez and Cherry Noir. It's known for its loud aroma and relaxing effects. Effects: Highly potent and full of euphoria, this batch of Truffle makes me want to take a load off and relax. Its flavor makes it perfect for an after dinner treat and its effects are well-suited for that time of day as well. The body buzz seemed to come in waves and my eyes were quite bleary trying to stream some Netflix from my couch. Keep in mind it may have you eating one - or several - late night snacks given the munchies it can induce. Also, if you go overboard you might just end up hibernating the rest of the winter away.🐻💤 Conclusion: Connoisseurs should pick up this Truffle for the immense aroma and exotic mouth appeal, but those who are true indica lovers will want to grab extra just to have it on hand for a while given the delightful effects. Head to The Green Room today to fill your coffers with this and all their other awesome flower. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Tropicanna Banana - Elevated Lounge

Initial Thoughts: Originally bred by the famed Barney's Farm, Tropicanna Banana is a strain I've been hoping to have grace my stash jar for a minute. Thanks to the wonderful people over at Elevated Lounge DC my wish has come true - and my stash jar is full of this spectacular sativa-leaning citrusy delight. 😎 Appearance: These buds are mostly purple and white with flecks of bright green. They're spear-shaped and have fiery orange hairs and whitish stems. Status: Fresh, but starting to cure. Aroma: Tropical citrusy with banana and skunk notes Flavor: Delectable with sweet citrus, berry, and banana notes at first then a bready, skunky, and citrus finish. Lineage: Barney's Farm nailed it with this amazing sativa-leaning cross of Tropicanna (GSC x Tangie) and Banana Kush called Tropicanna Banana. We're very psyched to see it now being cultivated in DC! Effects: This batch possesses staggering potency levels which result in total euphoria throughout head and body. Expect an active mind with some disorientation due to the mesmerizing nature of the high. In contrast to typical Tropicanna, this is certainly more calming, but still makes for a great daytime experience. Conclusion: The phenomenal tropical flavor and potent non-drowsy effects make this one another must try for local connoisseurs looking to add some sativa to their supply. Just head to Elevated Lounge ASAP to grab some for yourself and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Lemon Cherry Gelato - The Garden DC

Initial Thoughts: This is an excellent new batch of Lemon Cherry Gelato (LCG) from DC i-71 storefront The Garden. It's fresh and its aroma is out of this world delicious. It also has that head-storming citrusy LCG buzz I've come to know and love, but at even greater potency than before. Total fire! Appearance: Bright green buds with starry and white trichomes everywhere. The buds are spear-shaped, relatively dense, with a soft and gritty feel when breaking it up by hand. Status: Fresh! Aroma: Citrusy lemon, gas, skunk, and cream all in one jar. Flavor: Absolutely delicious with citrus, sour, and piney notes at first which fade to a tangy, creamy Gelato-esque aftertaste. Lineage: Gelato is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) and Sunset Sherbert. The Lemon Cherry Gelato pheno has been selectively bred to achieve especially citrusy and tart notes. However, in this case, I wouldn't doubt the addition of some other genetics to make it extra intense. Effects: This is a surprisingly energetic indica for me given that it is supposed to run around 60/40 indica heavy. Perhaps it's my mind mistaking the very cerebral buzz with the sativas I normally partake in during the day, but I have no issues maintaining focus or energy levels with this batch. The buzz is tremendously intense, uplifting, cerebral, and raises the bar in terms of euphoria levels following just a couple bong rips. Conclusion: This is a must try for all DC connoisseurs. Make your way with the quickness to The Garden to get your hands on some of this phenomenal LCG for your weekend enjoyment. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Godfather OG - No Kids Allowed

Initial Thoughts: To be called Godfather OG it had better be able to sit at the head of the table when it comes to all the OG's, right? Well, with respect to this batch from DC i-71 storefront, No Kids Allowed, I must say it seems like it has all the ideal traits of the great OG Kushes wrapped in one package. There's the beefy rotund structure, the delectably pungent piney aroma, and a classic stoney high that's highly euphoric in nature. Does it have what it takes to be the next Don? Aroma: Piney, musky, earthy, and kush-like. Think of your favorite OG strain and amplify that aroma. Flavor: Pretty much the same as the aroma, but with added hints of sour fruit and gas. Lineage: Godfather OG is reputedly the combination of Bubba Kush, Grandaddy Kush, Purps, and LA Confidential. But, its exact genetic lineage is unclear. Effects: Running something like 60/40 indica-heavy you might think that this one would be best for evening, and it can certainly send you off on a blissful night full of rest. Howevever, this is another varietal that I think is well-suited for late afternoon rejuvenation after a tiring day. • Acai Gelato - District Organics

Initial Thoughts: I'm always psyched when some legit Acai Gelato (aka Acaiberry Gelato) comes around. It's a sativa leaning member of the Gelato family that's packed with flavor, has epic levels of potency, and is originally bred by Sherbinskis. Well guess what? You can find some right now at DC i-71 delivery service, District Organics. Appearance: Dark purple buds with orange hairs and white trichomes throughout. The only issue to note is that the buds in this particular pack are on the smaller side. Status: Curing is underway, but most trichomes are still very white. Aroma: Complex, creamy, and earthy with hints of fruit and skunk. Flavor: Skunky and earthy in flavor with notes of cream and nuts. Lineage: Acai Gelato is a part of the Sherbinskis "Permanent Collection" of genetics and is a sativa-leaning cross of Pink Panties and Sunset Sherbert. Effects: A great daytime smoke that does have cerebral energy, but won't get you overhyped or lead to a racing heart. It's more on the mellow side of awake and alert, but no task seems to feel too daunting either. Its powerful euphoria stems from the cortex and cascades over your body in waves. Aches and pains subside and I, personally, was left with nothing but calm and joy. • Joker - Cannabear

Initial Thoughts: Joker (aka Sour Joker) from DC i-71 delivery service, Cannabear, is one that I've had my eye on for some time. I've always been a big fan of Sour Diesel and anything I can find that is crossed with it is typically great for my needs. The sativa dominant strains are what I'm typically after and this one is rumored to leave the user on the floor laughing uncontrollably. Let's see where it takes me! Appearance: These Dark Green nugs held deep red hairs with swollen bracts. They were dense yet spongy and you could really see the shiny trichomes dancing in the light. What hid underneath the dark exterior was bright green fluffy material once it came into contact with the teeth of my grinder. Status: This flower appears fresh and was harvested recently. Aroma: The buds have an earthy, piney aroma and, when ground up, a terpy fragrance of cheese and spice emerges. The pungent smell reeked up the entire downstairs of my townhome. Flavor: The smoke from this flower carries a rich and complex taste. There are earthy, spicy notes on the back end and a cheesy, skunky mouth at first. Lineage: Joker, or Sour Joker as it's often called, is a cross between Amnesia Haze and East Coast Sour Diesel. This Sativa dominant creation is reported to run something like 80/20 while testing at around 21% THC on average. Effects: I found the effects of this weed to be very uplifting and vibrant. It definitely held true to its name because comedy was on the menu for the evening and I don’t know if it was just me, but every single thing suddenly became funny. I was quite focused as well and I noticed that this herb was the kind that put me “In the Zone”. As an adult living with some type of untreated and undiagnosed ADHD, I can tell you that it is the one for me when it comes time to focus on a task (or many) at hand. Conclusion: If you like sativas, then this Joker is definitely for you - no joking around (this isn't Joker's Guide 😂 ). It's a real heavy-hitter and packs the driving energetic body buzz and active headspace to keep you moving through your day with a grin on your face and some pep in your step. Give Cannabear DC a call to get down with this Joker and the other potent fire on their menu today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Kimbo Kush Live Rosin - gLeaf (VA Medical)

Initial Thoughts: After smoking my fair amount of gLeaf’s live rosin I told myself not to waste any more money on their darker looking products. I’ve found them tasting similar to one another and the effects lacking, but this Kimbo Kush blows them all out of the water. Coming in at 75.32% THC and 6.31% Terps, this strain is a heavy hitter. If gLeaf starts dropping more rosin like this, they'll start heading in the right direction, and I’d gladly pick up more! Appearance: It came out of the box looking dried out but after whipping it and letting it settle you can see the shimmer of terps coating the outside. Aroma: A highly pungent gassy/fuel smell. Flavor: Finally! A rosin strain that doesn't taste like every single other one on the menu. Kimbo Kush has a deep diesel taste followed up by a refreshing hint of fruitiness. I never thought gLeaf would make a rosin that I enjoy this much, but here we are. Lineage: Kimbo Kush is the result of crossing Blackberry Kush x Starfighter. I found the terpene profile interesting. The three highest are β-caryophyllene, Limonene, and Myrcene, each one coming in at over 1%. Effects: This stuff hits me like a bus.🚌 The combination of the high THC percentage and the terpene profile make for a really enjoyable high. Β-caryophyllene is good for pain management and relaxing, while Limonene has an uplifting effect and brings a sense of euphoria. This means it won't necessarily lock you into the couch, but still gives you a warm calming body high. Conclusion: I really enjoyed this strain and hope gLeaf can continue to push out products like this. I can't say this about many gLeaf strains but I definitely would purchase this one again. Anyone who loves to dab indicas can’t go wrong with this batch of Kimbo Kush rosin.

  • Coochie Runtz - Flower Ave

Initial Thoughts: From the moment you open the pack these Coochie Runtz from DC i-71 cannabis delivery crew, Flower Ave, is quite intimidating. Its aroma is basically like the strongest Runtz you've ever set your nose upon and it's got such heavy trichomes you might start looking around to see if it's snowing.❄️ Appearance: A shocking amount of trichomes cover these buds and their robustness is such that you can hardly find the stems on some of them. Under the avalanche of white there are hues of purple, violet, and olive green. Status: Still fresh but starting to cure. Aroma: A highly complex amalgamation of tangy fruit, gas, cream, and skunk with a side of pine. I hypothesize is that the "coochie" in the name comes from the incredible pungency of this pheno. Flavor: Awesome. The exhale, especially, is one to experience as a cannabis connoisseur. It's much like the aroma but it did that flavor spike of my taste buds where it feels like little pins of flavor are dancing on my cheeks and tongue. This is some immensely flavorful tree. Lineage: A brand new strain as of 2022, at least to the general public, this is Runtz (Zkittlez x Gelato) crossed with an unknown strain. Effects: I found my experience with the varietal to be very uplifting in head and body. It's almost like it makes you feel so good all around that you can't help but be up-beat. I felt a strong urge to dance and when I did there were excited, good-feeling tingles all throughout my extremities. This is a powerhouse, upbeat strain that's ready to party, but not focus on anything important. Conclusion: For an incredible, connoisseur level experience in flavor and effects roll up some of this Coochie Runtz and get toking. This is true top-shelf bud from the talented bud curators over at Flower Ave. Hit them up today to get your hands on some of this batch before it's gone and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
