  • Chem Glue by Alt Sol - Takoma Wellness Center

As a big fan of the strain Chem Glue, and an especially big fan of DC craft cultivator Alt Sol's version of the flower, I was sad to hear that they may not be renewing it for subsequent harvests. That's right, if you love this Chem Glue, probably a good idea to go ahead and fill your satchel with as much as they'll allow ASAP. Coincidentally, you can do just that at DC medical marijuana dispensary, Takoma Wellness Center. 🤙 An indica-heavy hybrid cross of Chem Dawg and Gorilla Glue, this is a tiny bit more balanced for me than the 70/30 ratio would otherwise imply. Call me a wild man, but I like to mellow out with this one right before lunchtime so I can shed the stress from the early part of my day and absolutely hammer some excellent food. Of course, she's also great at night and possesses a euphoric full-body high for all the cozy comfort you can soak up. In aroma, there are strong notes of sour citrus and pine with hints of gas and sweet orange peel - most definitely as complex as it sounds. These all seem to translate well and with renewed intensity to the flavor which, frankly, makes it hard to put down the bong. I would certainly recommend this batch in the bong as well. The bold flavor and surprising smoothness are profound complements to each other, and the initial all-encompassing body rush is just lovely. To grab some if this phenomenal Alt Sol Chem Glue, perhaps for the last time, just head to Takoma Wellness Center ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Trufflez - Heady Club DC

Heady Club DC is a recreational cannabis delivery service that I was recently turned on to by my colleagues here at Toker's Guide. I've been more than impressed with them so far and I'm comfortable using the term "top class" to describe them already. They offer a wide selection of high quality indica, sativa, and hybrid strains as well as edibles, concentrates, and topicals. They literally have something awesome for everyone in every category and today, I have the privilege of reviewing their Trufflez flower for you. Anyone who is familiar with the very expensive and rare fungus of the same name but with the more familiar spelling,Truffles, knows that these little earth-born gems are considered to be one of the most decadent and delicious foods to ever grace human lips. It is in that spirit that the hybrid strains of Zkittlez and Cherry Noir are brought together to make this potent and trichome laden variant which is sure to give even the most seasoned of stoners a run for their Indica-dominant money. This knockout herb has the classic sedative effects that Indica strains typically bring to the table. Its onset is heavy, starting at your head and working its way down to your tingling toes. Its effects are almost immediate and this strain rings true the old adage, “The more you cough, the more you get off”. I bring that phrase into my review because I distinctly noticed that one particular toke off of my miniature baseball bat of a spliff led to an unavoidable choking-up and rare coughing fit. This was then followed by a level of highness that was not evident before and I have not achieved in some time now. After a brief moment of standing and stretching my legs following the hit, I immediately returned to my original chair now requiring some form of reclining position. I was stoned to the max and that was a fact. Let’s talk Terpenes. One of the primary Terps noted to be found in the Trufflez strain is Caryophyllene, which is present in herbs and spices such as black pepper oregano, and basil. The spicy side of its aroma and taste can be directly attributed to this particular Terpene. Additionally, the fruity funky flavor stems from a Myrcene and Limonene combo, which are both known for those distinct characteristics and blend well for nose and palate. This beautiful green and purple flower has hints of orange hairs and is totally covered in trich's. The ¼ oz sample I received had nice big buds with tight compact formation which had just the right amount of spongy softness I look for when determining freshness. It was clearly grown using quality ingredients, manicured to perfection, and all things considered, it's appropriately labelled as top shelf indica. For chill indica vibes and the great nighttime toke that is this batch of Trufflez, just hit up Heady Club DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Lemon Tree - High There DC

The crew from recreational delivery service High There DC came through recently and dropped off a sample I'm currently quite fond of known as Lemon Tree. It's a cross of Lemon Skunk and Sour Diesel, both of which run sativa dominant in their original form. Though elsewhere online you may see people claiming this is a balanced 50/50 strain, I beg to differ. In fact, I feel its sativa-oriented effects are so abundant and so energizing that it's much more deserving of the sativa-heavy label. Either way it's a fantastic smoke and the vibes I got were of a highly productive and uplifting nature. As a cultivator myself this plant had me putting in some extra gardening work on my own plants - I love when cannabis puts me in work mode. Don’t get me wrong, I love to veg out too, but my favorite types of flower are the ones that give me more energy than my already energized self normally has. When you break into this Lemon Tree, also known as Lemon Kush (or sometimes called Cali Lemon), you'll find obvious citrus notes perfectly complimented by spicy earthy skunk flavors. It certainly left my mouth with a hint of lemony delight mixed with the more robustly present gassy diesel from the Sour D genetics. To put a little extra pep in your step this weekend just hit up High There DC and grab some of this delectable Lemon Tree for your own stash. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Bacio Gelato - The Garden

Take the stresses of the week and exhale them in one big cloud with this fine Bacio Gelato flower now available at DC recreational storefront, The Garden. It's skunky, it's creamy, and it's got all the awesome Gelato body buzz you've been looking for. An evenly balanced hybrid (50/50) that is typically considered rare and exotic, especially on the East Coast, the Bacio Gelato pheno is a cross of Sunset Sherbert and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. For me, personally, it checks a bunch of boxes. It's highly relaxing, but non-drowsy. It possesses a euphoric body high, yet offers cerebral energy. And, of course, its flavor and aroma are the epitome of delicious. This particular batch is still fresh, soft, and supple with trichomes in the process of going from starry to hyper-white. When you break it up it's exceptionally easy to work with and roll up. In a joint the flavor is remarkably pronounced and "terpy", yet the toke is super smooth and the aftertaste is nothing short of exquisite - even to a refined palate. So head on over to the awesome storefront that is The Garden here in DC and check out this Bacio Gelato for yourself. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Uncle Snoop - Flower Ave

Supple and soft to break up with a staggering amount of trichomes covering nearly every nook and cranny, this batch of Uncle Snoop from DC recreational delivery service Flower Ave is what I'm burning on today. And you should be too. Its nose is full of cream and skunk with notes of sweet kush. When I popped open the container it was one of those experiences where you pull back quickly and look around to see if anyone else just smelled what you did. Then you've gotta go in for another sniff, of course. In flavor this is very much like a Runtz pheno, but somehow smoother and with a tangy fruitier aftertaste. Actually a cross of Wedding Cake and Sunset Sherbert, in a round about way you have the makings of Runtz from a genetics perspective. With an average THC level of 29% this is very, very potent and ready to get you bleary-eye stoned with minimal amounts needed. Though it runs indica-heavy at something like 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio, there's little to no couch-lock and I actually found her to be quite energetic given the lean. Perhaps most notable is the all encompassing body buzz that seems to bring a relaxed sense of calm to every extremity in any activity you engage in. For me, I even feel a little light on my keyboard right now. I guess I can finally say I "got high with Uncle Snoop", though burning one down with the real deal Snoop (the man) would be the true realization of that dream. To check out this Uncle Snoop strain for yourself just hit up Flower Ave today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Snow 1 - District Hemp Botanicals (VA Recreational)

This afternoon I had the grand pleasure of not getting high, but rather, simply relaxing the afternoon away in a state of clear-headed bliss. Sometimes, you just don’t want to be high, or maybe you can’t be high. That’s where District Hemp Botanicals, and the Snow 1 Indica CBD flower come into play. This flower was packed with pleasure but not THC. In fact, the COA test results show this sample to contain less than 0.3% THC and a whopping 38.1% total cannabinoids, with the terpene percentage coming in at 1.88%. A quick glance at the District Hemp Botanical’s clearly laid out webpage will provide you with a complete breakdown of this flower, and all of their offerings' cannabinoid profile information including specific terpene percentages. This amount of scientific knowledge gives the end user a clear picture of what they are putting in their bodies. That’s what you get with District Hemp Botanicals - honest information and knowledge that leads to a better understanding of how their products can be holistically beneficial to you. I’ve been waiting to do a review of CBD flower and, especially, of this business for a while now having been to both their Leesburg and Manassas locations on more than one occasion. There’s was the first place I went and made a legal purchase like this, and they even gave me a “First Responder Discount” and signed me up for their points program - very beneficial. On my second visit to their store, I was told I had already earned a free product!! They have a very friendly staff and the vibes inside their quaint shop are nothing but positive energy. In our world today, there are all different types of smokers. There’s the super stoner who wants the highest THC content known to man. There’s the daytime motivator that wants a full bore sativa to power through the daily grind. The late night toker looking for the heavy indica stoniness. And then there’s a whole different realm of individuals who really deserve a place at the table of bud puffers. I’m talking about the CBD smokers. Yes, the aficionados of the non-psychoactive cannabis flowers that you can puff on all day and will never ever get high. You will, however, feel the effects of one of nature’s most powerful plants, without a single ounce (pun intended) of head fog or disorientation. Just such a CBD specimen, the Snow 1 was a nice bright green flower with orange hairs throughout and an aroma full of earthy, spicy, and floral notes. An indica flower in nature, the pungent smoke gave a spicy, kushy taste in the mouth upon exhalation. The cone I packed smoked smooth and slow and without any harshness too. If you've never smoked CBD flower before, you really have to try it to believe it. The sensations of relaxation felt after consuming a joint of D.H.B.’s offerings is something that is not easily put in words and is best felt for oneself. The best way to describe it is like being wrapped in a warm blanket that has the ability to dissolve your stress as if it were a stress eraser - very therapeutic. Enter into a CBD experience with a clear mind and open-ended expectations and you will surely come out on the other side feeling like you've received a therapy session by way of joint (or however you choose to partake). If you want to experience the beneficial properties of this CBD flower for yourself, take a trip to one of District Hemp Botanicals three locations, and ask for the Snow 1. • Cherry Diesel by Alternative Solutions - Takoma Wellness Center

With pale green buds that are heavily covered in starry, twinkly trichomes and an immensely gassy aroma check out this fresh Cherry Diesel. Bred and grown by DC craft cultivators Alternative Solutions (Atl Sol) and available at top DC medical marijuana dispensary Takoma Wellness Center, this is an amazing batch of this phenomenal diesel crossbreed. Though it has Diesel in the lineage and is the result of Cherry OG crossed with Turbo Diesel, this strain is actually balanced in effects and something near a 50/50 hybrid on the indica/sativa spectrum. We've reviewed it before, but this latest generation seems to be even more gassy and potent than our notes from the last go 'round. There are hints of fruit when you stick your nose in the jar, but it's not until you squeeze or break it up that the true cherry notes emerge with gusto. This is also when other fragrances are released from the gassy, skunky side of the house and I almost sense rich coffee beans as well. The blending of this sweet, but tart fruitiness with the rich, savory diesel fumes is definitely in my top ten favorite cannabis flower aromas of all time. In flavor, the boldness of the skunky, diesel aspects in the nose emerge first, but the fruity after taste is soon to follow. I enjoy this one the most in the bong because, similar to the benefits of the blended contrasting flavors, the blending of euphoric and energetic effects can be experienced as a powerful rush. These effects race to your head like a freight train at first, but soon emanate all around you in an immersive full-body high. To jump onboard the Cherry Diesel train and grab some of these gorgeous Alt Sol buds for yourself just head to Takoma Wellness Center medical dispensary ASAP. • Purple Grape - The Treehouse DC

Any given Sunday in the fall around the DMV makes me excited for two things: football and bong rips. Yes, while the battle on the gridiron is heating up, you can find me sparking up in close proximity to my TV and NFL Red Zone. This past Sunday I caught some chill vibes during the game - it is early in the season after all - with this batch of deliciously stoney Purple Grape from DC recreational storefront, The Treehouse. When I cracked the elegantly crafted glass jar open, I was greeted with a heavy berry fragrance that had many different fruits coming to mind. Punch is probably the perfect word to describe the smells, tastes, and high though given how it can take you powerfully to a new level of relaxation and euphoria. Likely a pheno of Grape Ape - a cross of Mendocino purps, Skunk, and Afghani - she does run quite indica-heavy in terms of effects and resembles a fruit forward Kush in aroma. After just one rip all of the stress of my week seemed to drift away along with the commentator's voice and I was left with the purity of watching all the football scenes of the game unfold before my eyes. In fact, the high locked me into the couch for the first half of an afternoon matchup and had me fumbling for the remote by halftime, ready to pack another ripper to rekindle the flame for the second half. At one point I was so mesmerized I even forgot to cheer for a touchdown. I wasn’t overly sleepy though and I didn’t fall into slumber during the second half of the game, as is often the case for lazy Sunday afternoons. For something amazingly relaxing and delectably fruit forward to fill your bowl this week and weekend just head to The Treehouse in the Foggy Bottom area of DC and grab some of this Purple Grape for yourself. • Jack The Ripper - LOCAL'd

If you're looking for a hazy sativa to keep you going this week take a gander at this local grown Jack The Ripper strain from DC recreational delivery service, LOCAL'd. They're totally dedicated to local cannabis gifts as well as local goods from around the DMV. A sativa-dominant cross of Jack's Cleaner and Space Queen that runs something like 70/30, this "JTR" is a flavor and effect combo that I'm a huge fan of for daytime toking. It's fresh and as soon as you get to waft her piney and twangy lemon zest into your nostrils sativa lovers will know what's up. It possesses a clear and vibrant, heady high that can help lead to creative breakthroughs and provide energy to take out a multitude of tasks. I pulled a few tubes and started on my to-do list and the next thing I knew it was done and this review was practically writing itself! Of course this wasn't unexpected as most strains with Jack Herer in the lineage have this type of effect on me. To get your sativa power-up just give LOCAL'd a shout ASAP and rip open some Jack The Ripper for yourself. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Pink Rozay - Lucky Chuckie

This Pink Rozay from DC recreational delivery service Lucky Chuckie falls into their exotic category and often boasts a high THC level of 27%+. Note the pinkish hues which can be seen on the outer layers of the flower, but are more clearly observed in the ground finished-product ready for smoking. These are actually flecks of a purple so light that they appear pink. The aroma is earthy and nutty with hints of strawberry that fill the room when the grinder is opened. Her trichomes also glisten and pop in the sunlight, especially if you're rolling her up outside - which is usually my go-to location. London Pound Cake #75 and Limoncello are the parental lineage of this indica-dominant variety and at 80/20, she does sit rather heavily towards that indica side of the gene pool. It is sedative and relaxing in ways that can help you melt into your couch with a movie and some popcorn, but without too strong of an urge to doze off. If you need to de-stress from the daily grind this week just hit up Lucky Chuckie and you'll be twisting some of this Pink Rozay up for a one-way ticket to stoney bliss in no time. • Blue Dream by Center City Cultivation - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

Greetings and happy Saturday! It's been a minute since I've had some Blue Dream come across my desk that I thought was worth reviewing and presenting to you all. The strain seems to have run its course of high popularity a number of years ago and we don't see many top growers carrying it. However, the caliber of harvests coming out of DC medical outfit Center City Cultivation lately have made us take notice. After partaking in some, I must say, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the sativa-leaning, hazy effects of a great batch of Blue Dream. Currently available at top DC medical dispensary Takoma Wellness Center, Blue Dream is a sativa-leaning (60/40) hybrid cross of Blueberry and Haze known for its cerebral effects. Fantastic for daytime activities that require focus and creativity, it possesses an energetic headspace that melds with a warm, soothing body glow. I, for one, feel it enhances both the morning runs that I go for as well as the writing work I have to do. Yet, it doesn't leave me feeling edgy like caffeine might. In aroma there are notes of heavy cream, blueberry, anise, and pepper. When you break her up expect a wave of intensely fruity and cheesy fumes to overtake your olfactory senses. The aromatic notes are easily passed through to the flavor and in bong, bowl, or joint this batch is deliciously mouthwatering. Similar to a cheese board you might get at a vineyard or swanky restaurant, Blue Dream happens to go very well with red wine too. To obtain some of this fine Blue Dream for your own collection just head to DC medical marijuana dispensary Takoma Wellness Center today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
