  • *****Pink Lemonade***** - Green Kings

Welcome to our Weekend Centerfold, Pink Lemonade from Green Kings. This is a magnificent specimen worthy of our Top Shelf label (we don't hand it out to just anyone)! She's indica dominant (80/20) and comes from a cross of Purple Kush and Lemon Skunk with some other super secret genetics. This lady smells unbelievably citrusy, but with some spiciness too. In fact the aroma is much more like a gin and tonic with lime than a pink lemonade. Maybe a pink lemonade with vodka? Flavor wise this batch is SOUR. Through vape it's almost an effervescent flavor. Through joint it's very earthy and sour. Mixing this with some gorilla cookies presented an amazing skunky sour flavor - highly recommended. When it comes to effects, she's a powerful, high potency creation. What begins as euphoric energy slowly wanes creating a dreamy warm blanket-like feeling all around you. The eventual mindset that sets in is interestingly talkative, creative, and relaxing at the same time. Looking at the structure of one of the main colas for this batch it's obvious that this was impeccably grown. The shear amount of trichomes in fuzzy, starry clusters makes you want to take numerous photos just to send to your friends. While there's definitely a hazy pink tinge on the outside, when you break her open the light purplish-pink center almost takes you by surprise. Perfectly cultivated and curated in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and get over to Green Kings asap and add this must have to your collection before she's gone!

  • Original OG Kush - DC Teapad

I'm a big fan of OG Kush, and I really enjoyed this latest batch of Original OG Kush from DC Teapad. As usual the aroma and flavor were amazing (as with pretty much every batch from these guys), but this one made me want to make up a new combo word in order to properly describe it: lemonpineyskunktastic. She's most likely from Chemdawg and Hindu Kush lineage, a cross that has been the centerpiece of numerous West Coast strains, but the myth of the Original O.G. is a long and intriguing tale. There are those who say that the closest you can get to the original OG (which stands for Ocean Grown by the way, not Original Gangster as some would have you believe) is via either Ghost O.G. or San Fernando Valley O.G. To me this seems a lot like the S.F.V. OG, but there's definitely something else that's adding the skunkier smell - at least in my mind...errr nose. Anyhow, let's not split hairs over strain names. Instead, let's enjoy this beauty for what she can do. With some of the highest average THC levels in the word, this SoCal original packs a punch. The typical OG Kush is around 25:75 sativa/indica ratio, however, this one feels much more balanced to us (that's the Toker's Guide consensus anyways). In terms of structure, these buds were not main colas and their form reflects that. That said, the trichome coverage and maturity of calyxes indicate it was excellently cared for and the aroma tells me it was well cured. We'd say this batch is good for pretty much any time of day. Rolled in a joint, it's going to taste extremely piney and skunky. Outside you can probably smell that same joint literally a mile away. In the vape, the lemon flavor came out more at first, then the pine overtook it. In either case, the effects were euphoria, a warm body "glow', and a calm creative headspace. If you're a fan of OG Kush or if you're interested in checking out this strain we recommend scheduling a delivery with DC Teapad asap!

  • Purple Punch - Green Kings

Presenting, Purple Punch from Green Kings. This bad girl of indica (80% indica/20% sativa) is a cross of Larry OG and Grand Daddy Purps. She's perfect for a chilly Monday evening. Netflix, blanket, Purple Punch, bingo! In fact, she makes me want to start Indica Mondays. Done. The nose of this batch is spectacular. At first smell you get notes of sweet fruit and cream, but your brain soon makes sense of the fruit and an exotic grape aroma takes over. The flavor is similar to that of a grape soda when vaped - delicious! I also thoroughly enjoyed rolling her in a joint and pairing with prosecco. The effects set in sort of slowly with this strain - what you might call a "creeper". At first you'll feel a bit disoriented, then euphoric, and finally a wave of relaxation. The Grand Daddy Purps tends to be a little more on the energetic side of indicas, so couch lock will be less of an issue, but still a possibility. In terms of structure, these buds are expertly cultivated and really well tended too. The trichomes are a starry/cloudy white to the naked eye, but just the right shade of amber under magnifying glass. The only issue is a slight amount of light burn as seen in on the cola below (a touch of yellow). However, this issue is very minor and likely only seen on my sample bud due to it being the top cola of the plant (closest to the light). Otherwise, a perfect specimen in every way. Overall, she's an absolutely gorgeous indica varietal to add to any connoisseur's collection and I highly recommend scheduling an appointment or delivery with Green Kings asap if you want to add her to yours.

  • Do-Si-Dos - DC Teapad

Until last year I never really believed a bud could smell and taste like peanut butter. I'd had several encounters with Do-Si-Dos, but never really got the peanut butter part. Then last August, on a trip to Humboldt County, California, I had the pleasure of trying Peanut Butter Breath. To my surprise, it was incredibly peanut buttery in aroma and flavor. Turns out they had selected and crossed a highly peanut buttery Do-Si-Dos to make it happen. Later I tried that Do-Si-Dos and it was like opening a fresh bag of peanut butter cookies. This batch of Do-Si-Dos from DC Teapad is remarkably similar to that experience. The peanut butter aroma is immediately apparent upon opening the bag, then slowly gives way to combine with sweet cookie-ness. When vaped or smoked these notes remain in the flavor profile and easily make your mouth water with delight. As I mentioned in my last post about these guys, they always have very aromatic and flavorful gifts. This one is no exception. When it comes to effects, those who partake of this flower should be aware that this is a high potency (25%+ THC is common) and very indica heavy strain. That means it's great for night time use and many have said that it works wonders for issues like insomnia, pain, and nausea. Newbies, if you smoke too much of this it's likely you'll end up severely couch-locked. Also, smoking too much of an indica while drinking has been known to give people "the spins". Overall, this is a really tasty batch of a great strain. If you're a fan of strong indicas and peanut butter cookies, schedule a gift delivery with DC Teapad soon before this one's gone!

  • Blueberry Haze - DC Teapad

The guys over at DC Teapad are one of the first, if not THE first, I-71 compliant delivery services in DC. From the early days they've shown a consistent focus on caliber of gift. One thing I've noticed each and every time is that their gifts always have impeccable flavor. Along these lines, I had to present to my fellow tokers this astoundingly aromatic and flavorful variety in their current gift arsenal. Her name is Blueberry Haze and she smells and tastes absolutely incredible. It's the kind of sweet, succulent, blueberry smell that might make you want to tape the bag to your nose and walk around for a while. Seriously. When vaped, this lady is comparable, if not better, than most fruity flavors you'd experience in a vape cartridge full of terp sauce. The reason for this is, of course, the high terpene levels in this batch. That means it was grown, harvested, and cured with expertise. It also means it's highly potent. My only critique would be that the bud structure was slightly compressed, but this was my fault as it got slightly crushed in the bag in transit. For the newbies, if you get cannabis and it seems compressed, crushed, or stuck together, it doesn't mean that what you have is inferior. It could simply mean that someone took extra care in packaging it (think vacuum sealed bags) from the source because its smell was so pungent. It could also mean that it got crushed in transit accidentally. In terms of effects, this batch is wonderfully creative, energizing, and euphoric. I'm a big fan of the traditional hazes and this cross of Secret Haze and Blueberry satisfies those seeking the cerebral effects of a haze, but also packs the body buzz of a solid indica. After all, it's only slightly sativa leaning (60% / 40%). For me, this strain works really well on early morning digestive pain. If you're a fan of hazes or if you love fruity flower, this batch of Blueberry Haze is sure to impress. Set up a delivery with DC Teapad today to check her out for yourself!

  • Fruit Punch - Green Kings

Heads up fellow tokers! Another magnificent new addition to the Green Kings gift line-up is here and she's a super sativa heavy hybrid. Fruit Punch has been around DC in recent memory, but this batch is really well done. With Skunk, Haze, and Northern Lights (obvious from the starry trichomes) heritage this one's got all the smell, taste, and potency you need for a great session. Best to check Fruit Punch out in the day time. Newbies and those less experienced with the sativa side of the spectrum should go gently at first to help avoid any sativa shock. Be sure to put the energy and creativity afforded by this strain to good use. Calling all writers, artists, and musicians - this might be the eliminator of your creative block! At first smell, you're hit with a wave of fresh fruit that is distinctly tropical in nature. No skunkyness in the nose or taste, just overtly sweet and tangy. You might say it's comparable to the flavor of a tropical rum punch. Yum! A great deal of expert attention was clearly paid to the tending and cure of this crop. The freshness is palpable in every way, yet the texture is crisp and brittle. It's the kind of joint rolling situation where you have sticky, starry, delicious crumbles of goodness all over your fingers even though you used a grinder and tried not to touch anything but the paper. This is a GOOD problem to have my friends. For me personally, this strain is a great help with stomach and digestive issues. Best of all, it doesn't lay me out - far from it actually. Others have said that it helps with energy levels and overall mood. We're giving this one our sativa stamp of approval without question. If you're interested we recommend that you schedule an appointment or delivery with Green Kings as soon as possible!

  • Our Visit w/ Baked DC - Candyland

Thanks so much to the kind people of Baked DC for inviting us to check out some of their new flower this week. We really enjoyed their utmost professionalism, cheery vibe, and wide variety of great flower! Their setup was very spacious and had a dispensary vibe to it with stands and displays for gifts. You'll also find their gifts helpfully color-coded: Purple (Indica), Red (Sativa), and Green (Hybrid). With such a wide variety it was hard to pick which ones to review, but the helping hand of our Baked DC budtender helped narrow things down to six different varietals. This included 1 Indica, 1 Sativa, and 4 hybrids. All seemed like wise selections, but sometimes it's hard to tell through the bag...so we ripped 'em open and got better acquainted! First up is Candyland, a sativa-dominant hybrid that's the offspring of Granddaddy Purps and Bay Platinum Cookies. Right away you can tell the platinum cookie's influence on this strain with clustered trichomes everywhere. The grandaddy purp is also expressed by the occasional tinge of purple on the outer edges of these buds. This batch was expertly grown and well-tended. The nose is earthy and like an exotic herb at first, then delightfully piney with notes of vanilla. When smoked, the exotic herbal flavor can be slightly off-putting, but the piney aftertaste whisks it all away momentarily. When vaped, the sweet/piney flavor is much more pronounced - an ideal way to enjoy this flower. In terms of effects, you'll immediately notice the uplifting nature, but she's not an edgy sativa, just energetic. If you have a to-do list, you should be able to knock it out and maybe even feel good about moving on to do your neighbors to-do list as well. You could also say it's a social and talkative type of strain. Maybe smoke a joint and then walk to the local beer garden? Perhaps wine and paint night with a crowd? You'll have energy and chattiness to spare with this one for sure! Next up: Gelato

  • Gelato - Baked DC

Gelato is a cross of the now famous Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies strains. It is slightly Indica Dominant, so it's a bit better for night time use. Many have also said it's good for pain, inflammation, fatigue, migraines, and muscle spasms. Your's truly enjoyed vaping on this one right after an intense workout - came with a nice body buzz but not too much couch-lock. Examining this batch, the nose is the first thing that stands out. It's quite skunky and woodsy with a slight hint of citrus. Given the cure and lower maturity of both calyxes and trichomes, this one was probably the product of a less attentive commercial grower. But, what it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in strength. This strain typically hits 20% THC at the low end of its range and this example is no exception. Breaking it up releases more of the same smell. It's great for a joint or to roll in a blunt, but there are better flavors (IMO) available from Baked DC for vaping. If you're searching for a slightly indica dominant hybrid to try, and you haven't tried Gelato before, it's always a good, high potency strain to go with.

  • Sherbert - Baked DC

We recently had the opportunity to check out Baked DC's batch of Sherbert (aka Sunset Sherbet). This pretty lady is an indica dominant hybrid (85% indica/15% sativa) created by crossing Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. It's great for an evening session, just make sure you don't have anywhere to go and nothing important to do - this one's gonna couch lock you for sure. Oh, you'll probably want to keep your phone nearby to order some delivery too. Hopefully you can make it to your door? JK. Seriously though, this is a strong indica. Expect squinty-ness, red eyes, extreme hunger, bouts of the giggles, and binge watching. In terms of aroma, this batch was very creamy and cookie-esque. These notes are also found in the flavor whether vaped or smoked. The buds themselves are very well structured and the trim job was excellent. Clusters of trichomes saturate fully mature calyxes and the cure was done right as well. Overall, there are many who stand by Sherbert and say it addresses their insomnia, stress, mood swings, and anxiety. If that sounds like you, go ahead and make an appointment with Baked DC and check her out for yourself!

  • *****Gorilla Cookies***** - Green Kings

I don't say it often because it's become so cliche, but this new batch of Gorilla Cookies from Green Kings is top shelf. The strain, a cross of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) and Gorilla Glue #4, is renowned for it's high THC content and euphoric effects. It's nose: spectacular. The perfect mash-up of cookie, sweet, funky, and skunky. Pungent doesn't begin to describe this one's aroma. The taste: I've had GSC that tasted like skunky Thin Mints. This tastes like a skunky Samoa - a very complex flavor profile that leaves your taste buds wanting more. Effects: While this is a sativa-heavy hybrid, it's actually notably relaxing in effect. No couch-lock, but if you wanted to be mellow, you could. If you wanted to go for a run, you could. Pretty much anything you do after indulging, you'll be euphoric and happy doing it. In terms of the buds themselves, they are beefy, heavily trichomated, and cured perfectly. Between the rich blues of the leaves, the lime green buds, and the fiery orange hairs, the contrast in colors is remarkable. This is a truly beautiful specimen. If you haven't checked out Green Kings Photography yet we highly recommend that you do...and do it quickly if you want to get your hands on this exceptional batch of Gorilla Cookies before they're gone!

  • Crystal Coma - Green Kings

Greetings fellow tokers! We're stoked to tell you about this rare sativa heavy hybrid, available as a gift from our friends at Green Kings (greenkingsdc.com). She's just delightful and her name is Crystal Coma. While her lineage is supposedly old school with Skunk #1 and Cheese ancestors, this one certainly packs a new school punch with 26%+ THC. No wonder it was a Cannabis Cup winner back in 2014 (LA edition). This lovely looking flower is fluffy, on the plump side, and covered with what you might say gave her part of her namesake - crystalline trichomes. From the top of the jar, her nose is very cheesy at first, then combines with sweet and skunky undertones. This makes for an especially tasty joint. Like most skunky cheese, we found it also paired well with a dry red wine such as a cabernet. When smoked, an initially strong euphoric buzz eventually transforms into a trance-like state of calm. For seasoned smokers this state isn't debilitating, but one of creative energy in a calm or focused way. There are many who have also spoken of this strain's beneficial effects for anxiety, pain, and PTSD sufferers. This batch has particularly beefy colas. We recommend going for the biggest buds you can to get to the most mature calyxes. It's where you'll find this flower's most complex flavors and aromas. We give Crystal Coma our sativa lover's seal of approval. If that sounds like you, we advise booking an appointment or scheduling a delivery with Green Kings (greenkingsdc.com) right away so you check out Crystal Coma before she's gone! Of course, Green Kings also has a wide variety of other outstanding gifts in the realm of flower, concentrate, and edibles. Keep an eye out for more reviews of their excellent offerings in the near future.

  • Frankenstein - Green Kings

www.greenkingsdc.com From our good friends at Green Kings (greenkingsdc.com) comes: Frankenstein, also known to some users as “Dr.Frankenstein,” is an indica dominant hybrid (80% indica/20% sativa) strain famous among the cannabis community for its insane potency and average THC, that typically ranges from 18-22%, but has been recorded even higher than that. Frankenstein’s genetics are closely guarded by its breeders, but it is thought to be a descendant of OG Kush and several other widely debated strains. “This bud’s effects have been equated to turning you into Dr. Frankenstein’s monster – you’ll be sedated, yet active, with a sense of lethargy and an insane case of the munchies.” This bud’s effects have been equated to turning you into Dr. Frankenstein’s monster – you’ll be sedated, yet active, with a sense of lethargy and an insane case of the munchies. Upon the onset you’ll experience an uplifted euphoria that quickly fades into a relaxed head high with substantial mind relief. As the high continues, you’ll fall into a state of laziness as well as a distant spacey introspection. Because of these effects, Frankenstein is ideal for treating chronic pain, anxiety or stress, arthritis, and appetite loss. This bud has a surprisingly delicious aroma of pungent sweet mango and a taste of sweet citrus with a hint of pungent mango upon exhale. Frankenstein buds have small pebble-shaped dense fluffy neon green nugs that are completely covered with fiery orange hairs and patches of frosty.
