- Tangie & GDP Whole Flower Carts - District Derp
I've mentioned this a lot, but having a solid selection of quality carts on hand for holiday periods of the year is a must for me and something I start planning well in advance. This year you can consider me overly prepared. In addition to the slew of other carts in my stable, DC i-71 delivery and pick-up professionals District Derp were nice enough to pass along two of their newest "whole flower" distillate strains for me to try. Tangie, always a citrus powerhouse, isn't too overt in flavor with these carts, and that's a testament to their natural state. If you get a Tangie cart and it tastes strongly of orange candy, you have to wonder what went into creating that sort of intensity. Did they use terpenese? Are they naturally derived? In the case of District Derp these are, again, "whole flower" derived. In effects, the Tangie is exactly what I want as a sativa/haze-loving toker. It keeps me locked-in, free of pain, and the scent in the air (IF you notice) is like that of orange zest. Grandaddy Perp, with it's subtle grape, berry, and spice accents, is the perfect counter punch to the Tangie. This is due to its immensely relaxing, indica-oriented effects, which wash over you clearing away the effects of those moments that put the hectic in your day. To be clear, think of this as your nighttime cart and the Tangie as your daytime cart, with the GDP possessing an amazing ability to smooth the evening transition between the two. Whether sneaking off to "take the trash out" or "walk the dog" this holiday season you can be sure I'll have my trusty District Derp brand battery with "whole flower" cart plugged in and ready to rock. To get yours just give District Derp a shout to setup a delivery or pick-up today, and don't forget to use Promo Code "DERPTOKERSGUIDE" for 10% off your order.
- Power Sherb - No Kids Allowed
Happy Friday tokers! I've got a plethora of amazing new indoor to share with you today and tomorrow so stay tuned. First up, check out the crazy amount of kief falling off this Power Sherb from DC i-71 Storefront No Kids Allowed (one of our favorites)! Power Sherb is actually Sunset Sherbert crossed with Cookies and Cream resulting in a 70/30 indica dominant hybrid. Both of these inputs are heavily influenced by the Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) in their lineage, and their offspring carries forward the best of these traits with the result being immensely trichome covered and delectably sweet. The aroma and flavor here are actually very much honey-like - sugary sweet, but with earthy and fruity hues. I tend to associate GSC with sugary breakfast cereals when in top form, and this batch would qualify as one of the sugarier, creamier ones available on your grocer's breakfast aisle. The effects were characterized by my less frequently toking friend as "mind-melding", which is a bit of a stretch for the seasoned toker, but not far off. The buzz is highly euphoric and indica in nature, but I found myself with a creative and energetic headspace despite. To get some of this deliciously sweet treat, might I say perfect for the holiday season, head over to the always delightful No Kids Allowed. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Strain Specific Pre-rolls - Buddha Buddy DC
While fairly standard on the West Coast, strain specific pre-rolls are not as abundant in the DC-i71 scene. That's why I'm always stoked when I see new rounds of these pre-rolls rolling out at Buddha Buddy DC. No longer having to settle for the "house mix" or the shake from the bottom of the bottom of the barrel like some other vendors in the city (who shall remain nameless), these are made with top quality unblended bud. When you have this type of high quality material to work with, you certainly don't want to roll it in something of lesser caliber either. You wouldn't wrap a diamond in aluminum foil would you? By using OCB Virgin papers, they've wrapped luxury in luxury - as it should be. These are also the full-sized cones, which are way WAY too much for little Buddha guy (above) 😂.. For those who haven't ordered from Buddha Buddy, you get one of these sweet mini Buddha figurines with your gift! The pre-rolled strains we were provided and toked upon were: Wappa: A Paradise Seeds creation of unknown genetics that runs 60/40 indica dominant. In aroma and flavor this one is mostly sweet and fruity with a hint of pine. It is notably lime green inside the pre-roll - a nod to its freshness. Jack 1: Jack Herer x Skunk #1. What a treat! I love a good hazy sativa and the skunk influence adds a stoney body buzz to the otherwise tremendously energetic and creative high. Expect quite the head rush and good luck finishing it. OG: This was a true indica-heavy traditional OG Kush with a strong piney and sour citrus aroma/flavor. This one smoked particularly smooth and was highly disorienting in a gleeful way. Fire OG: Another indica heavyweight and Kush cross of SFV and the OG (like the above), this one was completely stoning, with even more pungent piney and woody notes. As for effects, expect a highly euphoric and relaxing experience. The tubes deployed are also not your average flimsy pre-roll tube. They have some true girth to them, but still open in a snap. I think we all know the "squeeze-the-sides" method for opening a pre-roll tube, right? If not, let it be known that if you squeeze the sides of a pre-roll tube at the top it will pop open. These happen to make an especially pronounced POP - that's the sound of freshness being protected! So, the next time you need to load up on pre-rolls, hit up Buddha Buddy DC and ask for their most recent selection of strain specific pre-rolls. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for something special!
- Rainbow Kush - House of Herbs
With nearly all the colors of of the rainbow, and a full range of Kush influence in the lineage, this Rainbow Kush from DC i-71 storefront House of Herbs is everything an indica lover could ask for. Its aromatic stance is a very tropical fruit forward one with exotic, earthy notes that emerge when smoked. The type of fruit is hard to place, but with some whiffs it comes across as slightly sour or citrus, other times it's sweeter like a pineapple. It's too bad "taste the rainbow" is taken as a tag line because it would be the perfect one to describe this batch! A three way cross breed of Hindu Kush, Master Kush, and Montel's Pride, Rainbow Kush runs around 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio and in the low to mid twenty percent THC range. The most notable aspect about this strain, in my opinion, is its ability to crush any body aches or pains quickly. Soreness melted away, joint pain subsided, and even the kink in my neck stopped trying to jerk me around for, surprisingly, most of the day. Kudos to the breeder on this one! Also notable is the spectacular coloration. I mentioned the colors of the rainbow being present at the beginning of the review and while this is true, the most predominant color is assuredly purple. It's almost entirely purple in some places aside from the oversized fiery orange hairs and hyper-white trichomes. The buds are also beefy, fluffy, and make for fantastic rolling material. Can't wait to roll up a late night Christmas Eve J of this and cozy up around the fire pit! To add this super-rare and exotic Rainbow Kush to your collection head over to DC storefront House of Herbs ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for a free pre-roll!
- Purple Krunk Juice - Sugar Ray's
Extremely rare and only found in select circles outside of the West Coast, Purple Krunk Juice is currently available from one of our favorite DC i-71 delivery services, Sugar Ray's DC. It's so juicy and delicious you might find your self saying - to recall a certain crunk juice loving rapper from not long ago - "Yeeaaaaaayaah! Ok!" An indica leaning hybrid cross of famously flavorful Purple Punch and Krunk Juice these buds are near perfectly cultivated, hand-trimmed, and organic. The aroma will immediately let you know terpene levels are off the charts when you open the pack and a super fruit-forward and grape-a-licious wave overtakes your senses. The heavy, effervescent fruitiness passes easily on to the flavor, and this is especially the case in an ice cold bong. However, I have to recommend trying this one in a flower vaporizing device as well - the flavor is too delightful not to get the fullest sense of the mouth-watering capability it possesses. In terms of effects, it runs what feels like 60/40 indica heavy, with some extra cushion in your step and tilt to your smile, this undoubtedly from the kush lineage (Kimbo Kush, Krishna Kush, Larry OG, and GDP are all in the family tree). It certainly takes all the weight off and leaves you with a tremendously calm demeanor. Expect munchies and a need to recline! Overall, I'm a really big fan of the aroma/flavor stance of this batch and we just keep finding ourselves grinding it and vaping it (as mentioned) as we fade into evenings of streaming. To try it for yourselves, and pass some of "The Krunk" to your friends this holiday season, hit up Sugar Ray's DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for a special deal!
- Mimosa - District Firehouse
Another great specimen you should check out this weekend is this Mimosa from DC i-71 delivery service, District Firehouse. It's a much more skunky, gassy cut than I've seen of this cultivar in recent memory, and that makes for a delightfully tasty experience given the coexisting, more traditional citrus notes. One of the great aspects of District Firehouse's customer care is their nifty, branded and labeled jars. Not only do these jars keep your greenery in better condition, when they slip an Integra Boost humidity control pack under each cap it keeps the aroma and flavor on point that much more! Though I obviously tampered with it - because apparently I'm unable to hold a jar with out opening it for a swift whiff - they use tamper evident stickers on the jars as another way to ensure freshness. Inside the jar, you'll find some pungent and potent nuggets that were clearly cultivated to near perfection. The trichomes are just starting to turn over from mostly starry to white and this flower will only get more and more white over the coming days/weeks, if it lasts that long. Zoomed in you can see the impressive layers of resin glands, but also notice the stark contrast between the turquoise and deep midnight blue. Many times Mimosa will run purple, especially on its sugar leaves. In this case, the purple and deep blues run onto the bracts as well. A sativa dominant hybrid cross of famous flavor phenoms Purple Punch and Clementine, the previously mentioned purple could be evidence of slightly more Purple Punch in this batch. This could make it come slightly more toward center, and I think you can feel just a tiny bit more calm with its effects than the rush I've experienced with more sativa leaning Mimosas recently. So let's just say this one is something like 60/40 sativa heavy. Along with the samples for review we were also psyched to see the great accessories that came in the gift bag. These included an on-the-go rolling tray, OCB "virgin" papers, a grinder, and a hand-blown glass chillum. If you were a tourist in DC or just visiting and without your rolling, toking essentials, this would be your perfect "travel" kit. So give District Firehouse a shout today and check out this Mimosa as well as some of the other fire (house) strains on their menu. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for $10 off your order!
- Christmas Tree - Joint Delivery
Be advised! Joint Delivery - one of our favorite DC i-71 services - has some incredible Christmas Trees available currently, and not the kind you have to chop down or strap to your car. No, this is the kind that you wouldn't mind smelling the remnants of halfway into January. In fact, with one of the most deliciously potent, bag escaping, aromas in recent memory this batch is definitely one you're gonna want to have with you across the holiday season. Maybe you break it out just at special times, maybe you save it for New Years night so you can get extra toasty. Or, maybe you grab enough to keep you lifted all the way until next year. Now who would do a thing like that? 😉 🤤 I even get excited like a little kid for these packs. They're soft and silky to the touch and they've got that extra child proofing on the top - of course this doubles as (much needed) smell prevention. Known to be a 70/30 indica-heavy hybrid, Christmas Tree is actually a phenotype of Pine OG, but no one seems to be able to confirm this origin with any evidence or assurances. Let's just say that if it was epic enough to get the label "Christmas Tree" from the Cookies entourage, you know it's gotta be pretty awesome. ...and I can confirm...it IS awesome. The flavor is a deeper, more coffee oriented skunky, but also with a creamy after taste that's almost sweet. In the room afterwards it leaves a mega exotic piney scent that my friend described as "like a yoga festival in a pine forest". You can toke this in the daytime if you like. It won't make you too terribly drowsy, but it's probably best enjoyed in the evening sometime right after work or right after dinner - hell why not both? It comes with an absolutely phenomenal body buzz that's much like a cozy Christmas sweater. But, be aware, you'll prob need something with a little more sativa to make it through any of those ugly sweater parties. So grab your egg nog, some red and green pajamas, and gather 'round the ol' fire, but don't forget to include this Christmas Tree along with the decor as you enjoy the holiday festivities. Hit up Joint Delivery today to get some for your stocking and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for a special deal!
- White Tahoe Cookies - Farm To Couch
Farm To Couch is a socially conscious DC i-71 delivery service that connects local cannabis enthusiasts with bud from local farms. The best part about the local focus is that, with such a short distance travelled and less handling, the buds have been preserved in a state and structure much closer to the moment they completed drying. In other words, they come still fluffy and pristine versus compressed and screened for kief. Note that it also appears to be hand-trimmed, giving it even more of a small batch look. A three-way cross of The White, Tahoe OG, and GSC, the White Tahoe Cookies cultivar runs indica dominant at a 70/30 indica to sativa ratio. This indica laden stance is abundantly apparent in terms of effects with a profound body high and feeling of coziness no matter where you make your nook. With the GSC influence combining with the Tahoe OG - one of my favs - what might otherwise be more of the beloved, but now commonplace, cookie-esque flavor becomes something highly exotic and rich in earthier, skunkier notes. With GSC the best practice is to harvest a little earlier in the maturation process than otherwise to retain even starrier trichomes and more of the sweet and sugary profile. The cultivator did a good job at gauging maturity here and hit the sweet spot for harvesting, in my opinion. To check out this unique spin on a GSC / OG indica mashup holler at Farm To Couch and schedule a delivery of your own White Tahoe Cookies ASAP! Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
- Grape Ape - Elevated Lounge DC
Be advised! This great batch of Grape Ape has just swung into town and has been spotted over at DC i-71 storefront, Elevated Lounge. She's a highly elusive creature, and especially at this level of cultivation mastery. So, for all you connoisseurs out there, run - don't walk - and grab some while it's still...hanging around. The smell is so funky fruity you'll want to exclaim, "It's bananas!" But your nose will quickly pull you aside to make sure you know it, in fact, has "grape" in the name. Is that really a grape aroma though? Can this level of gassy, diesel and coffee notes really be invaded by something reminiscent of Fruit-by-the-Foot? The answer is, invariably, yes. A three-way cross of Afghani, Skunk, and Mendocino Purps, this one runs significantly - if not entirely - indica. Most notable is the incredible feeling of utter calm and relaxation it brings. It's the type of profoundly euphoric experience where at some point you might think you can hear the silence around you. But, isn't there always some noise unless you're in a sensory deprivation tank? What if you burned down on some of this before slipping into a sensory deprivation tank? It's thoughts like these that will race through your mind and make you feel giddy from partaking in this batch - even if in reality you're nearly comatose and have been couch-locked for hours. All monkeying around aside, for true indica lovers this Grape Ape is such a treat. Head on over to DC storefront Elevated Lounge in Glover Park and make sure you capture some of this magnificently rare and delicious specimen for your collection. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you and to check out our Deals Page for the promo code that gets you a bonus bag!
- MAC 1 - District Derp
Hey everyone! Please allow me to direct your attention to this excellent batch of MAC 1 that just came in at DC i-71 delivery and pup art purveyors, District Derp. It's got some heavy trichomes, an excellent nose, and brings enjoyable aspects that are both sativa and indica in nature. A 50/50 cross of Alien Cookies and Colombian x Starfighter, MAC - aka Miracle Alien Cookies - is backcrossed with a stunning version of itself to make this MAC 1 phenotype. It's basically MAC amplified by more MAC. The result is a cerebral rocket ship and body high that will spawn creativity and yield a joyful, active mind. I, personally, believe that MAC and MAC 1 are some of the most mind expanding introspective strains out there. As mentioned, and as clearly visible in the close-up shots of this specimen, there's a very large amount of trichomes smattering these buds. When you look back in the pack - or jar if you're storing it in an ideal fashion - you'll notice the kief collection that has easily accumulated at the bottom and on the sides. You can practically hold and tap one of these buds over a joint your rolling to top it off with kief it's so prevalent. The aroma and flavor for the strain are supposed to be sweet, creamy, gassy and citrus. To me the creaminess and a citrusy lemon seemed to stand out the most. Pack it in your bong and you'll get a very smooth and tasty hit. Twist it in a joint and you'll find the citrus and gassy notes are expressed much more. Overall, MAC 1 is a great all-around strain to select for your connoisseur coffers. Whether day or night it can treat you right, and this particular batch is more than capable of bringing a high potency high even for the most seasoned tokers. To get yours hit up District Derp and schedule your delivery ASAP! Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you for something special!
- Sour Banana - Beyond / Hello (Sterling, VA)
I couldn’t make it to the dispensary this time, so I ordered a few things for delivery from Beyond/Hello (Sterling). I conveniently went to shop online, logged into my account, and placed an order. Note that all orders over $200 are eligible for free 2 hour delivery and they regularly have deals (like their latest Cyber Monday Sale of 10% off) for ordering online. Once your order has been placed, processed, and is on its way you'll get a text with your driver's name letting you know when they are 15 minutes away. The drivers are always super friendly and very professional. They take a quick picture of your ID, then take your payment (cash or debit w/$3 fee), and just like that it’s all done. Within 2 hours you have quality MMJ to enjoy delivered right here in Virginia! Hurray! As soon as I got my delivery, though, I pretty much had to do a reorder because I liked it so much. I had chosen this Sour Banana, a sativa-heavy hybrid, and it was exactly what I wanted - so much so I smoked it all before I could properly review it. When you run the joint under your nose or take the first whiff after cracking open a new jar, you get a sweet and citrusy scent almost like a lemon poppy seed muffin. You also get a stronger lemon pine scent from the fine flower. This comes at no surprise with Limonene as it’s dominant terpene. When it comes to the therapeutic benefits of this strain I cannot say enough great things about it. It’s my new #1 choice for anxiety, depression, or just that pick-me-up after a long hard day. Sour Banana shines every time with its uplifting and motivating nature. It can certainly help get you through those day to day chores that don’t require too much concentration, which also makes you much more at ease and patient. Believe me when I tell you it makes getting those pesky, “I’m calling to talk to you about your car's extended warranty,” calls not so annoying and actually made me start laughing instead. But if you will, please excuse me as I need to get back to my SeCHe Sour Banana from Beyond/Hello and keep getting things done 😂. Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more on what’s good and upcoming in the NOVA MMJ world. Now that you know how easy and convenient it is, schedule a delivery and let them know that Toker's Guide sent you!
- Lemonade - The Antidote DC
A sativa dominant cross of Lemon OG and Gorilla Haze, this designer Lemonade indoor flower is now available from new DC i-71 storefront, The Antidote DC. With a bold nose of sour lemons and a cure that accentuates some of the finer cannabinoids, she's a highly, highly energizing cut best for sativa lovers and daytime tokers. The deep purples in contrast with the dense coating of golden trichomes shows that this was cultivated in a most attentive and professional manner. It grinds up perfectly making an exotically pungent and kief coated grit that's great for twisting in j's or, maybe even more ideally, rolling in an organic hemp leaf wrap from High Hemp Company. That's right, this batch makes for excellent blunt or cannagar contents, and will burn long and smooth with and an abundance of citrus notes contrasting against the richness of the hemp wrap. Throw a wooden or glass tip on there and the result is something your friends might think you sourced as a designer pre-roll and at a premium price. They say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. What do you do if someone hands you some of this lemonade? Roll it up and get lit, of course! To get yours check out The Antidote DC and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
