  • Fuel Biscuits - Alternative Solutions

If you've become a little concerned about finding amazing fresh ganja in the District and are hearing rumblings of a drought for whatever reason (more on this in an article coming soon) then consider this: Get your DC, VA, MD, or whatever state medical card. Then use it to grab some of the sexiest, headiest, local-grown fresh-cut around in the form of these Fuel Biscuits by DC medical cultivator Alternative Solutions. A cross of the now famously famous Girl Scout Cookies and Gelato, this batch runs just a touch energetic for me, but it certainly is Indica leaning overall. The body buzz alone makes you want to find excuses to roll it up again and again while the decadent flavor lets you enjoy every last puff. The overtly skunky nature of the aroma may make inhabitants of nearby decks lean over and say things like "what's THAT one's name?" But, I guess it just depends on how much you like your neighbors as to whether other not you should burn it on your deck. 😂 🤣 Back to the lineage, some will try to proclaim again and again that Gelato is their absolute favorite cultivar, and it's hard to argue with a spread of professional athlete nicknamed pheno's like #25 (Barry Bonds), #33 (Larry Bird), #41 (Bacio - a Sherbinski grown masterpiece needing no athlete allusion), #42 (some would say James Worthy), and #45 (Michael Jordan). To be honest we have no idea how these names became associated with these strains, but it's intriguing to note how each somewhat relates to the effects. I'll let you ponder that for a while...over some Fuel Biscuits. We love the care taken with each and every batch Alt Sol cuts down and shares with us and their now large (and fast-growing) fanbase. They're always hunting for better, more exotic genetics and looking to cross the treasures that they find with their tried and true in-house performers. Essentially, they're pushing the envelope of cultivation not only in DC, but across the cannabis landscape. Of course, you can find this one and all the Alt Sol creations at Herbal Alternatives medical dispensary in Washington, D.C. By the way, for a good daytime consideration, presently, I checked out their new batch of Jack Herer and am finding it to be immensely delightful for all my waking hour needs. Head to the Alt Sol (Alternative Solutions) site to learn more, or just roll on through to Herbal Alternatives Medical dispensary to grab some under the immense power purveyed to you in the form of your state supplied medical marijuana card - accepted via reciprocity by DC medical dispensaries! Enjoy!

  • Hokkaido Mr. Roboto - Herbal Alternatives (Cultivated by: Alt Sol)

One of the things we get the most pumped up about here at Toker's Guide are the latest drops from DC Medical Cultivator, Alternative Solutions. If you haven't experienced the arrival of a fresh harvest from these craft artisans, and you're into highly rare and exotic sativas, you've gotta check this batch of Hakkaido Mr. Roboto out. You can find it in varying quantities at many DC medical dispensaries, but we grabbed this specimen from the always lovely Herbal Alternatives. Nearly a full-throttle sativa at 90/10, this will have sativa and haze enthusiasts jumping for joy - I know I was. It's extremely reminiscent of Silver Haze, yet it's even more delicate and a bit more gassy. It grows rather sparse in structure, as some sativas often do, but this makes it even more exotic and beautiful in my book. It's fluffy, it's super fresh, and its trichomes shimmer excessively, as if the buds were dripping with diamonds. In aroma and flavor it's highly piney and with a touch of unfamiliar citrus - perhaps lychee? I suppose it would make sense that such an amazingly unique Japanese landrace varietal would skew toward the aromatic stance of an asian fruit. That's right, they say this one grows wild "all over" the Hokkaido Region of Japan, though you probably won't come across one of this caliber without an expert pheno hunter by your side. In terms of effects, you can go ahead and put your walking (or dancing) shoes on before you take a hit of this batch. It comes with extreme focus factor like that of the most ideal hazes and, of course, energy levels like the energizer bunny too. I guess that might be where the "Mr. Roboto" part comes in? We were definitely playing the song and doing our best robot dance moves right after burning it down! To get your Mr. Roboto on and carry this swift pick-me-up in your pocket this weekend, grab your medical marijuana card (any state will do) and head over to Herbal Alternatives dispensary ASAP. • Caps Frozen Lemons - Maggies Farm (MD Medical)

Caps Frozen Lemons, from Maggie’s Farm medical marijuana dispensary in Baltimore, is a highly coveted sativa cross between Freezerburn and Lemon Fire from the elusive MAC strain grower, Capulator. Your mood will improve just from smelling this strain, not to mention smoking it. Immediately, a straight shot of pungent, lemony tartness overwhelms your senses, akin to lemon Pledge furniture spray or Lemonhead candy. Frankly, if you were taking a smell identification test, weed wouldn’t be your first guess. This sour citrus odor is credited to the most abundant terpene, ocimene. This is also what causes the hint of skunk and menthol finish, which you’ll taste with each and every toke. This batch was perfectly cured, frosted white and trich-coated, like the sparkle off of fresh shaved lemon ice in the summertime - which this sativa was so appropriately named after. She’s truly a sight to see. The high also lends itself to an ice-cold treat analogy, as the heady bliss this bud blasts you into can leave you feeling dazed and spacey at times, an almost brain-freeze effect. She’s no creeper and within ten minutes or so you’ll experience full-body relaxation, without any of the paranoia sativas are sometimes synonymous with. This is the perfect smoke if you’re looking for productivity; your anxieties will melt away, leaving you in a state of mindfulness and awareness, able to take on anything life throws your way. The glass container from Garcia Hand Picked (a collab between Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Dead family and Holistic Industries) is the cherry on the cake of this treat, with a colorful lid and amusing graphics that make this packaging seem like a collectible item. Caps Frozen Lemons is a great daytime strain to add to your rotation, just head to Maggie's Farm Dispensary in Baltimore, MD and grab some for yourself today!

  • Orange Krush - The Bank (Beyond/Hello, VA Medical)

Orange Krush is the perfect name for this strain from VA medical marijuana dispensary Beyond/Hello’s "Bank Gold Standard" collection. When you first crack open the sleek black and gold packaging you get hit right away with the strong scent of a fresh juicy orange. Once I smelled that strong citrusy aroma I knew I needed to try this strain for the first time out of a fresh clean bong to really get the full flavor profile of it. The initial taste of the smoke is citrusy like it is on the nose. There's also this delightful lingering taste of passion fruit and papaya. I was surprised with how distinguishable the flavors were from the initial inhale to the aftertaste, but it was a pleasant surprise. This Hybrid tested at 15.92% THC and is great to smoke anytime. It didn’t make me overly energetic, but I got a nice reviving feeling from it, similar to how your eyes become finally “awake” after those first few sips of coffee first thing in the morning. Shortly after finishing my sesh though I felt a little more sleepy-eyed with a strong sense of relaxation in my body. It wasn't an overwhelming feeling of relaxation like I needed to go to bed, but more like having a beer to relax after a long day of work. If you're looking for a nice even-keeled hybrid strain Orange Krush is a great choice. Just head on over to a Beyond/Hello dispensary for some of your own and don't forget to let them know you heard about it from Toker’s Guide!

  • Jack Herer by Alt. Sol. - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

Available at DC's Takoma Wellness Center medical dispensary, this Jack Herer was grown by phenomenal local cultivators, Alternative Solutions. A legendary strain named after one amazing cannabis activist, "Jack" is worth pursuing for any haze or sativa lover - or any connoisseur, really. It's in my personal top five favorites so you KNOW I was stoked as soon as I saw it. 🤗 It's worth noting that the team over at Alternative Solutions is extremely dedicated not only to the quality of their craft, but also to having a positive local economic impact. Their team is local, they grow local, and they're not owned by a large, multi-state entity based somewhere far, far away. As a result they're able to maintain a higher standard operationally and in the products they provide, while staying engaged with the community they serve. This attention to finer detail and focus on end quality for the patient is highly evident in their Jack Herer (11th Generation) specimen, with an aroma, flavor, and potency worthy of "The Hemperor" himself. A sativa dominant hybrid cross of Haze, Northern Lights #5, and Shiva Skunk originally bred by Sensi Seeds, it typically runs 55/45 in terms of sativa/indica ratio. This batch, in particular, feels like it has a bit more Haze influence, but maybe that's my own bias for that type of skew. The effects are bright and heady throughout, with a flare for creativity sparked by a stimulated mind and body. Need energy in your arms? You can practically feel the flow of energy as your mind propels your arm into motion. Accordingly, I often enjoy pairing my Jack with exercise. The pine and citrus notes combine with an effervescent anise making a combination that strikes me as akin to drinking lemoncello in a pine forrest. This profile reins true in both the intense aroma and bold flavor. I much prefer pulling icy cold tubes in my bong versus rolling with any papers when it comes to this Jack, though. With its smoothness, rich flavor, and intense head rush it's just too hard to choose any other method. To explore the effects and deliciousness of this outstanding "Atl. Sol." Jack Herer for yourself just grab your medical marijuana card (from any state) and head to Takoma Wellness Center dispensary in north DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Super Lemon Haze - Dreamy DC

One of my favorite strains of all time, check out this Super Lemon Haze from our favorite motivational speech and i-71 service, Dreamy DC. It's got enough citrus nose and stimulating sativa-heavy effects to have you leaping tall buildings in a single bound...in your mind at least. They don't call it "super" for nothing! Fluffy and still supple to break up, this batch is particularly frosty. However you decide to toke her you'll get the powerful lemon zest for which she is named in nearly every hit. There are also anise and peppery hues that let you know this stems from the deeper end of the haze gene pool. An awarding winning crossbreed of Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze, this runs something like 80/20 on the sativa/indica scale, and you can feel every last drop of that 80 too. I forget just how energetic and creativity inspiring these sativa haze combos can be. In my opinion the Haze influence promotes a highly active mind while the Lemon Skunk fosters energy in the body and limbs - an energetic whole-body high is the result. This is one strain, and batch, that I can certainly wield to get all my tasks done, my life in order, and still have enough left to get an epic bike ride in. But, even I have to draw the line with this one's potency. Otherwise I might start dawning blue and red spandex with an "S" on the chest. 😂 It's hard to overstate how mindfully energetic this Super Lemon Haze can be and when you pair that with the on-demand motivational speeches from Dreamy DC there's no telling how high your motivation levels can go. To have your own "super" weekend schedule your meetup on the seamless Dreamy app today!

  • White Skittles - DC Dash

With an exotic fruit forward aroma that makes you think of rolling one up on your favorite tropical beach, these White Skittles are currently available from i-71 delivery guru's DC Dash. You can almost take a mini-staycation in your mind with the calming and relaxing nature of its effects. We're not sure what the "white" aspect means exactly - more on this in a second - but for the time being I'm letting it hearken me back to "white" sandy beaches. Did someone say Pina Colada? It's an indica dominant hybrid of Grape Ape, Grapefruit, and another undisclosed cultivar. We're not sure what this is, but we can guess from the flavor profile that it's likely something in the kush family. Of course, this would also account for the increased euphoria levels and super rotund bud structure. At first, with only my chillum in tow, I packed a couple one hitters and quickly found myself, mouth watering, sitting and staring off in a daze. This bud really likes to make its highly calming and sedative effects known as quickly as possible - great for an instant de-stressor. The only reason I had to leave this soft, warm, and fuzzy place of respite in my mind was to hunt down more beverage as my water bottle was now empty and severe cotton mouth had set in. A proverbial candy store on wheels with a rocket pack, DC Dash is ready to deliver these and many other awesome gifts at a moment's notice. So, if you need a little R&R on the fly, just hit them up and grab some White Skittles ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Scotti 33 - Flight Pass

A balanced hybrid crossbreed also known as "Scottie Pippen", this Scotti 33 is a mashup of Biscotti and Lemon Cherry Gelato strains. Available now from DC i-71 storefront, Flight Pass, it's got that super sour and skunky aroma that only the most epic Gelato offshoots have. It's so pungent I think I could smell it, specifically, while walking down U St. a full block before the store. It's fresh, exotic, and more than ready to become the contents of your next joint. But, do make sure you break out the grinder as this is practically designed to "gunk up" you handy work with its overt stickiness. Of course, you can't discuss its stickiness without mentioning the snowy-white trichomes that are so plentiful as well. Most notable about these buds, aside from their astoundingly loud aroma, is the strength of the euphoric body buzz that accompanies the high. It makes you feel noticeably lighter on your feet and ready to be social if needed. But, its mellow nature will probably make you steer clear of anything too strenuous in terms of activities or work. So for some of this epically pungent and highly potent Scottie 33, check out Flight Pass and their selection of other gorgeous buds ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Wedding Crashers - Joint Delivery

To quote the movie by the same name (and I'm going to be doing that a lot in this review), "It's Wedding Season, kid!" What I mean by that is (although it IS spring) this absolutely spectacular Wedding Crashers has made an appearance and is currently available from DC i-71 delivery service, Joint Delivery. "They say true love is your soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another", but weed love is what I'm feeling for some of this bud rolled in a joint. Just take a quick look in the jar (see image above) and tell me you wouldn't be a "stage five clinger" for it too. A cross of the delectable and always potent Wedding Cake and Purple Punch strains, you might hear about this running 60/40 indica heavy if you read about her elsewhere online. While this might be the case, for me the effects are more of what you would expect from something slanted slightly more sativa. It's energetic with a mind-bending head high, but also leaves the whole body relaxed with a euphoric sensation originating from the spine and extending throughout. The potency cannot be overstated so newbs should go slow with this one. Aside from her gorgeous looks and staggering effects the most notable and exciting thing about this Wedding Crashers is its aroma and flavor. There are notes of vanilla frosting, heavy cream, subtle grape, and pine. You might actually think you're smelling an edible at first if you were unable to see into the jar due to the sweet and creamy nature of it. Nevertheless, once you throw it in your pipe its incredibly exotic gassy nature roars to life. Reminiscent of the best Gelato's, the gassy, piney nature of it pairs well with the sweet aftertaste that more resembles the aroma. It is truly a "wedding" of exotic flavors in your mouth almost as if they "crashed" together. To "Grab (your) net and catch (this) beautiful butterfly" just hit up Joint Delivery DC today and you can be "living the dream" in no time. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Alien OG - No Kids Allowed

Alien OG from DC i-71 storefront No Kids Allowed is an even hybrid cross (50/50) between Tahoe OG and Alien Kush. A strong incense-like aroma announces itself as soon as the package is opened. Reminiscent of sandalwood or Nag Champa, the myrcene here is prominent. Also notable is the limonene presence, making it a welcome addition to the ever-expanding OG family's lemon-pine palate. The earthy aromatics make for a grounding experience; she’s not overwhelming to the senses and the stone is palpable, but not immobilizing. From head to toe, this is a well-balanced high. The velvety smoke is lung-expanding and the effects are long-lasting and intensify over time; when you think you’ve peaked, you haven’t yet. If you’re looking to get “loose” and enter an altered state, let Alien OG abduct you and take you across the universe. Off the first rip, she’ll leave you feeling heavy-bodied, gravity seeming like it's been amplified. You might experience a change in cognition with thoughts rapid-firing, flashes in your peripheral, colors enhancing and time moving more slowly. For accompaniment on a meditative task or to make your weekly grocery trip feel like an out-of-this-world Sims game, this is the golden ticket. You might find yourself a bit graceless, fumbling about, but isn’t that part of the fun? In structure and appearance, these Alien OG buds present themselves in round, nugget-like clusters. They're nearly "extraterrestrial green", adorned with thin, wiry bronze hairs and coated with white trichs so icy they give off a cosmic glimmer. To encounter some for yourself beam to DC storefront No Kids Allowed ASAP and I’ll see you in outer space! PS: Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Mobile Vac System - Canabosem

If you're a cannabis connoisseur like me you've probably noticed that flower has a tendency to get a bit strange when stored in mylar packs over time. This is especially true while traveling. Elevation changes, temperature changes, and atmospheric pressure (among other issues) all contribute to the moisture content and retention of packed flower. One of the simplest solutions is to use a jar, but when the contents of that jar dwindles the moisture content goes down while oxidation rates go up. This means that your weed could be losing its luster at an alarming rate. 😱 Enter the Canabosem mobile vacuum sealing system. A nod to the biblical cannabis oil called Kaneh Bosem, I've found it to be a great solution and highly effective at addressing cannabis travel and storage issues by removing oxygen and maintaining a tight seal. When it comes to maintaining freshness or reducing the aromatic footprint of my flower, this is now my go-to. Unlike ordinary vacuum sealing bags, these are reusable over and over again with no need to cut or tear into them. They're also BPA free and each Canabosem package comes with three bags. Perhaps more than anything, it's just so simple and user friendly. No need to take a huge vacuum sealer, find an outlet, and break out your roll of bags. Instead, take your flower, choose one of the three bag sizes - small, medium, or large. Pull off the long green seal like you would peel a banana. Put the flower in the bag and press the green seal back onto it. Then. swivel out the keychain vacuum's phone jacks and decide which one is compatible with your phone (either iphone or other - there are both types). Attach the vacuum's nozzle to the round portal on the bag. Then attach your phone via jack (just as you would charge your phone) and hold in place until the contents are sealed to your liking. That's it! Now you're ready to roam around and feel no stress over the precious flower you have in tote. As long as you have it sealed up, the freshness will be maintained and none of your traveling companions will be able to smell your stash...unless you want them too. 😉 To get your own Canabosem mobile vacuum sealing system check out their website and place your order today. • Icicles - District Derp

This Icicle specimen from DC i-71 delivery and pickup service District Derp is fresh, funky, and ready to send you into a stoney state of bliss - one where you may, in fact, ponder: Can Icicles be fluffy? Well, these Icicles are! A hybrid crossbreed of White Sherbert and Jet Fuel Gelato, this strain runs 90/10 indica dominant and comes with a blanket-like warm and fuzzy body buzz. It's long lasting and highly sedative, which makes it a great choice for some evening R & R. The aroma is heavy and similar to an exotic kush, yet with hints of creamy and gassy gelato-esque hues. The flavor is the same, but with the addition of subtle fruity notes. Personally, I thought this ripped really well in the bong and it was a go-to as a sort of post dinner digestif. The trichomes are caught between white and starry on the outside, but inside the twinkles abound as what seem like tiny icicles gleam everywhere. Surely this is where this cultivar got its name - its overtly frosty and plentiful kief. We've really been enjoying District Derp's selection of premium flower recently and this batch of Icicles is certainly no exception. To get some for your collection hit up District Derp ASAP.
