  • Keto-Friendly Energy Oat Balls - Cannabake DC

As the description on their menu puts it, these little energy oat balls of delight make you "feel good on so many levels". I'm not on a Keto diet or anything, but I can confirm there's not only a really nice stoney buzz packed in them, there's also some kind of special energetic glow that I felt too. If you haven't checked out DC recreational delivery service Cannabake DC yet, these are just another one of their magnificent edible gift creations that you've been missing out on. 🤷‍♂️ They're so delicious that you'll definitely have trouble not eating them all, and you may even look up recipes for how to make them sans THC infusion. By the way, be careful to mind your own tolerance levels and take things slow as these are quite strong at 200mg per pack. I have a high tolerance and I still take tiny bites and wait about 30 minutes between them - and just know that this is exercising some extreme self-control. In fact, having to look at all these delicious treats again is making my mouth water while writing this review. I might even have to have my neighbor hide them from me lest I eat another one and risk going full comatose in my living room. And this while I was just talking up my "self-control". If you're into oat-rich, craisin loaded healthy snacks as your cannabis delivery system then look no further than these protein-packed energy oat balls. Just hit up Cannabake DC to grab some for yourself and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Ambrosia - The Treehouse

The second strain I have the pleasure of reviewing for you today is this Ambrosia from DC recreational storefront, The Treehouse. When I received this sample, a cylindrical little glass jar of goodness, I opened it to discover an amazing fragrance and some fresh buds with awesome bud structure within. An earthy, piney aroma was followed by something that was reminiscent of diesel fuel. My next thought was, this is a highly complex and unique batch for sure - can't wait to burn it down! Loading it in the grinder only magnified the swirl of delightful scents, including one like a roasted nut of some kind. The ground contents it left me with was light green and fluffy - the perfect material to place in my Raw tube maker. Just as I suspected, the finished product was a quality roll which smelled delicious and needed some flame right away! Temperatures have been cooling down in the mornings near my DC area abode and it makes for invigoratingly crisp air in which to partake in the sacred burning of the first joint of the day. What a perfect opportunity to give this Ambrosia Strain a try, right? Having never had it before, I was eagerly awaiting the effects which I had previously researched and wanted to compare to my own mental notes. Elsewhere online it's been described as energizing and basically the complete opposite of couch lock. After my experience this is without a doubt a statement I would agree with - it definitely leans sativa. In appearance the buds were unique with dense foxtail sections that made some nuggets appear to have mountains and crevices like the Appalachians right in our own backyard. Speaking of backyards, let's get back to mine. As I fired up this joint of perfection, I was met with the taste of herbal earthiness, and a hint of pine and pepper upon exhalation. It was definitely cured properly and the joint burned slow, easy, and never had a run. A distinct oily residue could be seen around the charred ash, and this line of demarcation that separates the burned from the unburned, for me, is a clear indicator of the resin production capabilities that this herb has. I was pleased with everything up until this point and as the effects began to take over, I was clearly setting up for one of those roller coaster rides that begins with 60mph from a complete stop. Keep your head back and enjoy the ride! This was “energy to complete tasks herb", but also,“smile at the sunrise, sip your tea, and read a book herb”. I would suggest this cannabis variety to anyone who is looking for uplifting, energizing effects. It was not overly penetrating and didn't give me anxiety as some people say sativas often do. Enjoy this flower morning or mid-day and you will not be disappointed. So head to The Treehouse where the crew will be happy to set you up with some of this awesome Ambrosia. Make sure and tell them that Toker's Guide sent you their way!

  • MK Ultra - High There DC

It’s Ben from KannaBus back with another strain review and this time I'm smoking on the mighty indica dominant MK Ultra from DC recreational delivery service, High There DC. This strain packs a powerful and sedative punch which, along with the sticky finger hash residue on my fingers from breaking it up, is making my keyboard hard to operate presently. The aromas my nose received from the freshly ground flower was that of earthiness blended with a tropical fruit smell. There are skunky notes buried deep inside as well. I preferred it rolled in a joint and felt that the flavor, which greatly resembled the aroma, was best expressed in that format. A Indica-heavy hybrid created by crossing the legendary Indica G13 of the 80’s and 90’s with the equally as notorious OG Kush, the resulting combination is an ultra cerebral buzz that leaves the user stuck in a chair daydreaming for hours on end. But, what else would you expect from a strain named after a formerly top secret CIA mental manipulation program? This batch is clearly very strong and may be best utilized for pain relief given its highly narcotic-like effects. It's also one that can result in high levels of drowsiness, so I would not recommend it as a wake and bake option. That is unless the desired effect is a lazy morning without a care in the world - which actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea now that I mention it. In all seriousness I would say most users would enjoy this herb best in the evening after all work is done for the day. Its ability to create a state of complete and total relaxation is noteworthy and makes it a great option for nighttime indica fans. With potency levels that hover around 20%, heavy-hitting sedative effects, and a fine earthen skunky flavor, it's not hard to see why this strain won the Cannabis Cup for best indica back in 2003. To get some MK Ultra for your own stash just hit up delivery service High There DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Grandaddy Pluto - Top Secret DC

Who's ready for a super relaxing weekend? Feel like you REALLY need to unwind? Maybe stay mostly horizontal from Friday until sometime Monday morning? Well, have I got the strain for you. It's probably the strongest indica I've ever smoked, it goes by the name Grandaddy Pluto, and it 's brought to you courtesy of Top Secret DC. Do you like a little bud with your trichomes? That's the situation here for sure - more trichomes than leafy matter. Unbelievable. I've seen this type of heavy, heavy, trichomes before on strains like Purple Punch, Slurricane, and Gorilla Cake, but this is pretty astounding. A crossbreed of Grandaddy Purps (GDP) a renowned indica, and the mysterious and elusive Pluto Kush, this is an extravagantly exotic batch. The nose is spritely and citrusy, but with notes of kush - like something out of a market in a nepalese village (or at least what I imagine it would smell like). It's also notable how clean, smooth, and hyper white this bud burns. The lack of harshness almost makes you question your hit, but soon it completely overtakes your mind with a sense of IDGAF anymore. The euphoria is almost too much, like someone is tickling your spine. It's seriously incredibly, incredibly stoning. Also not for those with pressing intellectual pursuits. Believe me when I say you will not be able to think clearly enough to be cogent, and you will also lack any motivation whatsoever to become otherwise. Yes, fellow tokers, this is pure sedative, nearly in a catatonic fashion, medicine for the worn soul. After all we've been through these last few weeks, months....hell, this year....it's ok to take a mental health weekend and have fun staring at your ceiling for a while, right? Give our good friends over at Top Secret DC a shout asap to get some of this absolutely phenomenal bud for yourself!

  • SAVE I-71 Businesses - Summer 2022 Edition

I'm sorry to have to write you all AGAIN about just how terrible many of the individuals on the DC City Council are when it comes to siding with the WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF DC. It is NOT the will of the people of DC for the I-71 businesses they visit and VOTED FOR to be harshly punished and shut-down. But that is EXACTLY what they are trying to do once again with their ABRA "Joint Cannabis Task Force". On the contrary it IS THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE to have recreational cannabis available for consumption and to have businesses purveying it. To respond to the medical marijuana lobby first and foremost and to side with their opinions and interests is to SHUT OUT THE CITIZENS OF DC and move against them. How can you take businesses that have been helping people - customers, owners, workers, etc. - for years who have made a commitment to serving the good people of DC and fine them, shutter their businesses, and hand out charges? Haven't most of the City Council come out against unfair criminalization and incarceration of those associated with cannabis? Don't they also supposedly stand for the small, local businesses and the citizens who run them? How can you be FOR the little guy, PRO cannabis, PRO justice reform, and then attempt to stand behind this horrendous move against I-71 businesses? YOU SHOULD BE FIGHTING HARD FOR A PATHWAY OF INCLUSION! They should be forced to acknowledge the damage they are doing in public and not able to move their misplaced effort forward in the sneaky end of summer way they are going about it. The JOINT CANNABIS TASK FORCE should be re-named the DISJOINTED CANNABIS PUNISHMENT FORCE except I'm not sure that something that represents such a FARCE should be considered a FORCE at all. TO ALL fans of cannabis in the District: It is FAR past time to STAND UP and TAKE ACTION against the oppressive, corporatist clowns that claim to be representatives of the people of DC. It is also time to stand up against those elected representatives in MARYLAND who, for SOME REASON, believe it is their place to interfere with DC's right to govern aspects of it's own health and well-being. DC should be united in opposition to the interests of BIG CANNABIS and MARYLAND MEDICAL MARIJUANA. Let's call, write, DM, email, and show up to PEACEFULLY PROTEST THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF THIS completely irrational and uncharismatic move by the DC government. Let's take it to their houses with MEGAPHONES and let them hear it RELENTLESSLY. TO ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO STILL OPPOSE BROAD CANNABIS LEGALIZATION (and especially to those who open their doors and wallets to lobbyists who have zero interest in the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and their desire for open access to the HEALING PLANT that is cannabis): DO YOUR F**KING JOB! MAKE CANNABIS LEGAL AND ACCESSIBLE TO ALL OR GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THOSE WHO WILL!!!

  • Pink Panther CBD Flower - Flowerz

For this CBD flower review, it only seemed fitting to take an afternoon bike ride and enjoy the rare cool air that is unique for August in the DMV. The middle of the day is a perfect time to engage in the use of CBD as a non-psychoactive “pick me up” to make the rest of the day sail smoothly. The specimen for said bike ride and the subject of today's review is this Pink Panther CBD Flower now available from Flowerz, an online retailer based in DC and Nashville with legal nationwide distribution. If you haven’t tried smoking high grade CBD flower before, don't let its lack of a traditional buzz keep you from understanding the value of this cannabinoid. CBD is not just for the convenience store counter display and it certainly isn’t the stale brown frown in the showcase at the vape shop. Boutique CBD flower, specifically this offering from the Colorado breeders High Alpine Genetics (H.A.G.), is a flagship in the CBD game. The male from which Pink Panther comes is known as Alpen Gleaux, the same premium CBD autoflower which produces the early flowering photoperiod family known as the F1 Fighter Line. Why do I know all of this you may ask? Well, I possess a Virginia Industrial Hemp Growers Registration and High Alpine happens to be one of my preferred breeders to work with. I have their full line of genetics on hand and know them well. So, when I was asked to review this strain, you could say my interest was piqued. Now, back to my bike ride. When I readied my spliff for this outing, I made sure to clean out my grinder of any THC material that may have remained. I knew what the aroma should be for Pink Panther, and I wanted an untainted canvas for that fragrance to be released and carried to my Raw cone for maximum olfactory enjoyment. The smells I encountered were exactly like what I had grown and experienced before. The familiar fragrance of Cheerwine soda was evident - the amazing fruitiness of this strain is undeniable, yet the fuel smell is equally as pungent. Either way it fills the air with notes of an uplifting dankness that envelops the smoker and everything around them. I puffed this J with some Bob Marley music playing in the background. As I slow-rolled around the neighborhood, I savored the taste of that mouthwatering fruitiness followed by hints of sweet chocolate. I enjoyed the flavors of this strain when I grew it last fall, and was pleasantly surprised when I was reminded all over again of how great it was to smoke. As for the sensation that CBD provides me with, I describe it as a warm blanket placed around my body. I’m always greeted with relaxation and a calm, meditative state after I have CBD. It allows me to focus and accomplish tasks, and takes away anxiety for me, too. This Pink Panther flower was packaged in a nice glass jar with a humidity pack. The QR code on the label led me to a website with a Certificate of Analysis, or COA, which I compared to COA’s of my own for two other strains from the same breeder and lineage. I can tell you that the COA for this product very closely matches the test results I received and it further solidifies – for me – what stable genes this strain comes from. I called the number listed on the website to find out more information from the source themselves. After a brief hold I was soon on the phone with Chad, the founder and owner of Flowerz. He was very knowledgeable on the strain’s lineage and was more than willing to discuss all things cannabis-related. I thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant conversation we had about a cannabis variety we were both quite familiar with and fond of! This Pink Panther is perfect for anyone who wants to experience the beneficial properties of CBD as enjoyed in a more traditional marijuana smoking manner. So hit up Flowerz and plan for a day of relaxation and worry free energy with a little boost from the Pink Panther. Don’t forget to tell them Toker’s Guide sent you!

  • Karma Space Brownie - Flowerz

As I set out to review the Karma Space Brownie from Flowerz, I chose to take a different path with this product than my flower reviews. And this had a lot to do with my wife. You see, Mrs. KannaBus declared that she wanted to try some, and well, quite frankly, she gets most things she wants. Her single previous edibles experience was less than desirable, and resulted in me having to babysit her. Not only that, but she got sick. So, when she declared that she was willing to try, I was eager to let this be additional research. The first thing I noticed upon removing the brownie from the packaging was the sheer density of this block of chocolate delight. This thing was THICK! The package is very clearly labeled, explaining that four servings are included in the one brownie, so we cut the brownie into four even sections. The whole brownie includes 100mg of THC, so with four 25mg portions, I knew that we would be good to go. I didn’t expect to be on the moon from this Delta-8 Hemp-derived edible, but I knew I should feel something. I eat a good amount of standard THC edible doses and smoke a lot of flower, so even having a portion of 100mg shouldn't be a huge deal for me, but I wasn't going to go big this time. What I ended up experiencing was pleasantly surprising and certainly wasn’t the mild experience I had expected. I began to feel light and floaty at about the 40-minute mark. That’s a tell-tale sign for me, personally. Truth be told, I ate 50 mg, and then had the last 25mg after about 10 minutes, mainly because the brownie tasted really good. It had chocolate chunks inside, and I’m kind of a sucker for anything that is double chocolate. My wife, who ate 25mg, had a more profound experience, you might say. After about 30 minutes she said she couldn’t feel anything. After 45 minutes, she began to talk about subjects that weren’t relevant to the movie we were watching. At the one-hour mark, she thought she heard something that sounded like bugs, but it went away. Then she swore she heard bugs again. For the next 25 minutes she had me pausing and unpausing the movie trying to determine if there was a bug, and where it was. Eventually she declared that the bugs were in the movie and just to let it play. Puzzled and with my cheeks aching from laughing so hard we managed to finish the movie. In sum, she was baked – maybe as baked as the brownie - and there weren't any bugs. I, too, have to admit to having some auditory perception changes. I was hearing the movie in a very unique way and I can only attribute that to the baked treat. It definitely kept me elevated for the entire movie, and when it was over, my wife and I drifted off to sleep rather peacefully. As an added bonus, there was a whole lot less tossing and turning throughout the night. If you haven’t had a D8 edible before, this is definitely shareable for two people who have a lower-than-average tolerance. It's also perfect as an afternoon snack that will have you floating through dinner time and then enjoying a proper night sleep as well. My wife and I give it two thumbs up and we encourage you to check out Flowerz and give the Karma Space Brownie a try for yourself - especially if you’re in the mood for something uber-chocolaty and delightfully cannabinoid-infused. Don't forget to tell them you heard about it on Toker's Guide!

  • Pink Runtz - Green Light DC

Of all the versions of Runtz and other strains that I came across this week, this Pink Runtz is my personal favorite. It was a very close competition, and one that we really didn't even mean to have, but there's just something SO delectable about this specific batch from DC recreational storefront, Green Light, that it needed some extra recognition, in my opinion. Therefore, we're calling it our Flower of the Week! The flavor is most definitely Runtz in base, but all the right notes seem to be dialed-in to perfection. Its skunky, sweet, fruity, and gassy levels are all the way up to the maximum. When you rip this down in the bong it's shocking how much it makes your mouth water, and on the exhale it nearly brought a tear to my eye. On said exhale, the first one that is, I closed my eyes and felt an immense wave of warm tinglies wash over me. They raced around for a few moments exploring the outer reaches of my limbs and then settled in my neck and back region. Following the wave of euphoria was a secondary wave of tranquility that washed away all of the stresses of the day, but somehow left all the tinglies intact. Explore this totally delectable and astoundingly stoney, yet balanced, hybrid strain by heading to storefront Green Light DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Tropical Runtz - The Garden

It seems like there are Runtz everywhere right now, and of all different colors and flavors too. One that caught my eye, and nose, right away is this Tropical Runtz which absolutely has a tropically fruity, citrus skew to its aroma and flavor. Available right now at DC storefront, The Garden, this is a phenomenal batch and a new Runtz pheno I've been psyched to pack in the bong all morning long. 🤗🤤 May I also direct your attention to the super duper heavy amount of trichomes covering these buds? Clearly grown by a highly skilled cultivator it's both trich'd out and skunked out. It's also fresh and comes in jars with a seal, making for a burst of its amazing smell as soon as you pop it open. There was no consensus as to whether it was better in bong or joint as the flavor was rich in both cases. Personally, I've opted for the bong because I just love the warm and fuzzy body buzz with the energetic and active headspace afforded by the sativa influence, and I want its onset to be much more immediate than what would occur with a joint. A cross of Tropic Truffle (Tropicana Cookies X Mint Chocolate Chip) and Runtz (Gelato x Zkittlez) this Tropical Runtz runs sativa-dominant and can keep you uplifted and chatty for hours on end. Perfect for a day filled with chores, errands, and a workout it made me float joyfully through things that may have otherwise been a little nerve racking too. Its rush isn't over the top, though, like some sativas and therefore it may be a good one to dip your toe into the sativa spectrum with. So head on over to storefront, The Garden, today to get your hands on some of this outstanding and highly delicious Tropical Runtz before it's gone. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Rainbow Harbor - Elevated Lounge

A highly rare cross of Cali Sunset and Runtz that runs just slightly indica dominant, this Rainbow Harbor from DC recreational storefront Elevated Lounge is the definition of exotic cannabis flower. Its aroma is a combination of grape, rose petals, and a hint of citrus. If you let it sit open to "breathe" for a few moments skunky notes begin to emerge as well. It almost takes me back to a gorgeous tropical overlook I once went to in the Caribbean. Of course, that makes sense because it happened to overlook a harbor far below and was framed by a colorful array of tropical flowers - a "rainbow harbor", you might say. In flavor the fruitiness definitely takes over, but it has more of a creaminess to it at first. Then, the same skunky-ness that is slow to emerge in the nose appears in the aftertaste. To experience all these nuances of flavor we definitely recommend rolling this one up. You'll note the smoothness of the smoke in combination with the rich fruitiness will make you want to Bogart the joint for a while hoping for a few more puffs. Sharing is caring though people - pass it on! 😉 Another great bud for the summer time, I like that it leaves you relaxed, but with enough energy to go long into the late afternoon and evening. As such, I thoroughly enjoyed toking some of this while cooking out and sipping a few beers. Between the IPA's, the BBQ smells, and the fruity, grape-like, chronic in the air it helped make the perfect evening and went well with the gorgeous weather too. The only challenge was keeping up with everyone's dramatically increased appetites! To grab some respite with this Rainbow Harbor and add it to your own exotic bud collection just head over to storefront Elevated Lounge ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Gary Payton - Kali Kraves

One of the best batches of Gary Payton Cookies I've ever seen, you can find her right now at DC recreational delivery service, Kali Kraves. With oversized features, hyper-white and starry trichomes galore, and a squishy texture that tells you it's fresh from the farm, you're gonna wanna give this one a try. I don't know if it's too old fashioned to mention but given the quality of it and the player for which it is named I gotta say, this weed is...BALLER! 🏀 In aroma and flavor there are super fruity notes with sugary, cake-like undertones. It's quite like a blueberry muffin and it literally makes my mouth water every time I open the jar I put it in. Oh and I def had to put it in a jar by itself, that is if I didn't want everything else in my stash to take on some form of its intense smell. Not a problem, just something to note - you're going to want to store this one properly! A highly balanced cultivar that's a cross of strains The Y and Snowman, you can burn this nearly any time of day and it will bring a twinkle to your eye and a smirk to your smile. With its uber euphoric, feel good effects you might think it has more indica influence, but the lack of any drowsiness supports the balanced, near 50/50 stance. With the proliferation of Cookies family genetics across the country, the reputation of some of their strains has been somewhat diminished given the range of quality that people have seen with the name attached. Let this batch demonstrate that, when grown at or near the highest level, this and other Cookies' creations can end up being some of the best fire around. To grab some of this phenomenal Gary Payton for your own coffers just hit up Kali Kraves ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Pink Runtz - Cannabear

An evenly balanced hybrid cross of Zkittlez and Gelato, check out this Pink Runtz from DC recreational delivery crew Cannabear. We noticed these right away because of the deep purple coloration and super healthy amount of trichomes - clearly some top genetics. With a rich, creamy, and hella skunky aroma these buds are the makings of an awesome rolling experience every time. Just grab your favorite paper - hopefully a natural one - throw in some well ground Pink Runtz and - sorry we're not going to explain how to roll a joint here - spark it up to enjoy the totally exotic flavor and super smooth toke. Of course, I'm positive this will make for excellent blunt fillings as well, I just didn't get a chance to try it yet. While the effects are noted as balanced and nearly 50/50 on the indica/sativa ratio, it must be said that this batch seems to take the best from both worlds and ratchet the high up a few notches. The body buzz is tremendously euphoric, yet without exhaustion. Your eyes will get super narrow and you may feel slightly disoriented, but in a cozy and cheery sort of way. My friend described it as high in the head, mellow in the chest, and energetic in the legs. Funny how the most simplistic explanations work best sometimes. So if you're looking to get super stoned and still make it through the entire Nationals vs. Cubs game tonight, as an example, this Pink Runtz could end up being your best bud. To grab some for your own stash just hit up Cannabear DC today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
