  • Clementine & Grape Ape - Dreamy DC

In this review we're going discuss two phenomenal, but very different, gift specimens currently available from DC's motivational speech purveyors, Dreamy DC. While differing dramatically in effects, with one overwhelmingly best for daytime and one perfect for night, they compliment each other nicely as you make the transition from day to night. They are the delightfully citrusy sativa-leaning, Clementine, and the funky, fruit forward indica-dominant, Grape Ape. A cross of Tangie and Lemon Skunk, both very boldly citrus varietals in their own right, Clementine is much as the name implies - it's got a super sweet citrusy zest. In fact it's much like a fresh cut orange, sliced and ready to be squeezed. When you rip this particular batch it's very easy to get immediately psyched if you enjoy citrus flavors, even just a little. To have that kind of fruit specific aroma and flavor come from a bud is pretty astounding to experience, especially for the first time. In the beer world I've seen many IPA's with orange and tangerine stances recently and I'm becoming a massive fan. It seems like, for whatever reason, these beers tend to leave you both cheery and with a little more pep. That was the case with this clementine as well, as I felt an immediate head rush followed by glowing energy that seemed to coarse through my veins. Yet, though the effects are potently obvious, it left my mind at ease and I was able to focus on all of my daily tasks with what felt like much less pressure. At the end of the day I even had enough creative energy left over to do some grilling, whereas in the past I may have opened the DoorDash app instead. As the daylight dwindled, my attention turned to the Grape Ape and I became curious about what this deliciously fruity and obviously grape indica would yield. Would it render me immediately unconscious? Would I be able to make it to my fridge first? With the energy and mental stimulation of the Clementine still lingering I also wondered if this was going to be a u-turn or would I more calmly come into another, more tranquil state? Luckily, the transition was quite a splendid one. The Grape Ape gently swept the citrus laden aura of energy aside and replaced it with what truly felt like a giggly wine buzz. My limbs were light, my head began to tilt slightly different, and my legs felt warm and fuzzy. At 90/10 on the indica/sativa ratio, Grape Ape is an exceptionally indica-heavy cross of the legendary Afghani, Skunk, and Mendocino Purps varietals. For me, it was like pillowy landing gear to toke this at the end of my day. There I was, like a plane doing loops in the sky and instead of King Kong snatching said plane out of thin air while posted atop the Empire State building, I was softly shepherded to a tidy landing by a purple hued Grape Ape. To get motivated and then partake in some Clementine and Grape Ape for yourself, just check out the Dreamy DC app and setup your appointment today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Runtz - Cannabear (DC)

We've reviewed our fair share of Runtz and its crossbreeds, even in the many different colors that it comes in: Pink, Blue, Purple, etc. However, this batch of original Runtz from DC i-71 delivery service Cannabear is one of the most spectacular we've seen. From its obvious fresh status to the eye-popping amount of trichomes coating every nook and cranny, these are some really sexy Runtz. A balanced 50/50 hybrid cross of Zkittlez and Gelato strains we're fans of Runtz' ability to bring heavy terps and an almost sickly sweet, fruity, and dankly skunked out aroma - especially when cultivated to its full potential. Here we have just such a specimen, but to make things tilt even more exotic, this batch has a unique sort of nuttiness on the exhale as well. My preferred approach is to grind it up and load up my bong. The head rush from the staggering potency will make you happy that you did too, and the pronounced flavor will roar through without much degradation from the water. We also appreciated rolling it up, but the density and stickiness may make that challenging for the less experienced roller. If you intend to stuff a cone with this, maybe give it some time in the open air once ground before you do. A go to for almost any time of day, the euphoric effects of this batch work to quell what pains me both in terms of anxiety and neck pain. While you can nap and grab some shut eye while under her spell, it's not going to leave you a spaced out slumbering version of your weekend self on a week day. Yet, it's also not the most productivity oriented. For me, it's best for relaxed social interactions and makes running even the most hectic errands a calm and pleasurable experience. To add some of these Runtz to your own collection just hit up quality and customer service focused delivery service Cannabear and place your order today. • Animal Style - House of Herbs (DC)

If you've ever been to an In-N-Out burger while traveling out west then you'll likely know that the term "Animal Style" carries a special significance. In burger terms it means getting everything - including the burger and onion fond infused sauce - on your burger and your fries. In weed terms, it stands for having all the amazing effects of several powerhouse strains mixed into one. More specifically, this is Animal Cookies x Gelato 41 (Animal Cookies being a cross of GSC and Fire OG), but you could call it "getting everything and the awesome sauce". Currently available from DC i-71 storefront House of Herbs, this batch of Animal Style lives up to the legendary status of its name. While running a balanced 50/50 on the indica/sativa ratio, she packs a serious wallop that can leave you thoroughly buzzed and in a state of tranquil relief for hours. In flavor and aroma this is very true to form. It's much like someone took a sugary, yet skunky, batch of GSC and somehow mixed it into a vat of creamy, yet gassy, Gelato. Then they turned a crank, said abracadabra, and out popped the perfect amalgamation of the two. For the Newbies - the potency of this is not to be taken lightly. Maybe you just learned how to smoke on 4/20 and now you think you're at Snoop level. You are not. So, go ahead and take it slow. The most striking thing about these buds is the coloration. The blaze orange hairs are the most obvious, but there are multiple shades of green, some purples, and even some turquoise if you look closely. Needless to say we are also huge fans of the thick smattering of trichomes strewn across each cola as well. So head on over to DC storefront House of Herbs ASAP and you can roll up your joints this week "Animal Style". Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Dirty Squirt - LOCAL'd

LOCAL'd not only gifts locally cultivated ganja, they're also the purveyors of 100% local products from local companies. As mentioned in prior articles, we're big fans of this local-focused business model and we really like their latest batch of local fire which goes by the name of Dirty Squirt. With small local batches you get to experience the TLC that someone nearby has put into their plants and you're supporting their craft, making local cannabis better for everyone. You can call this Dirty Squirt some of the fruits of those local labors. A cross of Gushers and Don Mega, don't confuse this indica-heavy Dirty Squirt with the sativa-heavy Squirt. While there are some initial uplifting effects, she will set you down in a highly euphoria driven state of relaxation. Notice that the trichomes and stigmas (hairs) are all still very much intact and there's basically zero compression of these buds. That means when you're rolling her up you're getting first dibs on some of the freshest and most terp laden trichomes - ones which otherwise may have been left stuck to the inside of a vacuum sealed bag. To get some of this local, chem-like, Dirty Squirt just hit up DC i-71 service LOCAL'd today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Toker Vision - Here's What We're Burnin' On This 4/20 in DC

We were inundated with phenomenal buds to review just before our favorite stoner holiday and with no time to spare, and a strong urge to try all of these, we decided we had to get the word out to our audience faster than fast. Therefore, we reached into our bag of tricks and pulled out our soon to be classic Toker Vision format. We may go back and shed some more light on these pretty ladies in the next few days, but with time of the essence, here's the best of the best around and what we're gonna be burning down (today): Black Cherry Gelato - District Derp Check out this superb specimen from DC i-71 delivery service, District Derp. A 60/40, slightly indica, crossbreed of Black Cherry Funk and Acai strains we love the creamy, gassy, and all around funkiness of these buds. ...and they're fresh too! Just look at all those frosty trichomes waiting to tickle your senses. They've literally clustered all around in hyper-white mounds and on the inner portions there's a whole lot of twinkle left as starry, resinous, and perfectly ripened resin glands present their best. There are violet hues strewn throughout and the bud structure is spot on with a still supple texture. We could look at these buds all day, but getting down to brass tacks, what's the buzz they bring like? Despite the indica lean, we think this "BCG" tokes really well in the daytime too. There's little mental fog and the euphoric feels come with a little "umph" making you feel pretty spectacular doing almost anything that you do. Hit up District Derp and grab some pup art and a sweet Black Cherry Gelato gift to brighten your whole 4/20 with cozy, mellow - but not couch-locked - vibes. Toasted Marshmallow - Elevated Lounge DC A descendant of OG Kush and another mysterious parent thought to be Bubblegum, this is an epic batch of Toasted Marshmallow from DC i-71 storefront Elevated Lounge DC. The Kush influence has brought out a staggering amount of trichomes and helped yield some beefy, dense buds. The aroma is sugary sweet with a touch of a candy-like fruit hues, but there's an exotic, almost mystical sense to the flavor that will make you want to keep your eyes closed just to savor the experience a bit longer. In terms of effects, this has all the hallmarks of a fantastic indica: waves of euphoria, palpable relaxation, a feeling of connectedness, and no trouble getting rest or sleep. Note that we like this Toasted Marshmellow most in the bong and toward the more horizontal point of the evening. Load up some ice if you have an ice catcher and the hits become even more delicious and silky smooth. Head to Glover Park area storefront, Elevated Lounge today and grab some Toasted Marshmallow for your festivities. Lemon Cherry Gelato - Flight Pass A three-way cross of Sunset Sherbert, Girl Scout Cookies, and another unknown strain, this is some fantastic Lemon Cherry Gelato (LCG) from DC i-71 storefront, Flight Pass. We're already big fans of this strain and have reviewed it before (delightfully), but this particular batch is something special and one of the best we've seen in recent memory. Most striking is the super fresh and pungent aroma that will take you aback when you waft it in. It's sure to stink up any space that tries to contain it with almost instant effect. Definitely go by Flight Pass on U St. sometime soon to get your hands on some of this crazy good LCG. Fire OG - Farm To Couch We love Farm To Couch's model - one that is hyper-focused on bringing the best freshness from local small batch harvests. This Fire OG is certainly a fine example of that type of local quality. An indica-dominant hybrid crossbreed of San Fernando Valley OG (I'm personally a huge SFV fan) and OG Kush that runs 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio, this strain can have a wildly piney and chem-oriented aroma. This batch has much of that in nose, but also registers as highly gassy and skunky as well. It WILL make every room in your house wreak of the most chronic smell. But, that same smell transcends into a flavor that makes you want to just keep rolling it up over and over again. For some tree that more than lives up to the "Fire" in its name, hit up DC i-71 delivery service Farm To Couch ASAP to get your hands on some of this amazing Fire OG! ______ We hope that you check out these buds and find many other sexy ones this fine holiday. Be safe out there, don't toke anything we wouldn't toke, and from everyone at Toker's Guide have a magnificently merry April 20th, 2022! PS: Don't forget about our event today at Crooked Run Fermentation in Sterling, VA 4-9pm. Be there!

  • Marionberry - Euphoria DC

Named for the blackberry fruit, but also with special significance in DC due to former mayor Marion Barry, check out this primo batch of Marionberry. It's fresh, fruity, phenomenal, and awaiting you right now at i-71 storefront and day spa, Euphoria DC. At 60/40 on the indica/sativa ratio, it's great for those indica lovers out there and still promotes enough cerebral energy to keep you active and upright if needed. I've found it to invoke a sort of tranquil daydreamy state if toked during the day, but at night you can fully embrace the euphoric qualities snuggling in the covers of your bed. The "toker team" here has officially dubbed it as "Fire," so there is consensus opinion even from the bigger sativa fans of the bunch. There's similar consensus around it being equally delightful in bong, bowl, or rolled in a paper of your choice as well. Overall, we think this one is an excellent tool to keep on the indica side of your "self-medicating" toolbox. It won't be all the way to the left with the heavier, most sedating strains, and placing it in the middle might leave some searching for a cup of coffee. So, let it fall somewhere in the middle of the left side of the aisle - sort of like the former politician. 😉 A cross of Space Queen and Raspberry Kush, don't miss this epic Marionberry from i-71 storefront and day spa, Euphoria DC. Stop by today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Blue Syrup - The Gift Givers

For all my super sweet and fruity indica lovers - and especially my Blueberry fanatics - I present to you this Blue Syrup from DC i-71 delivery service, The Gift Givers. She's an 80/20 indica-heavy hybrid crossbreed of DJ Short's Blueberry and Cherry Pie Kush and she's ready to make you contemplate the ways you might be able to put this flavor all over your pancakes it's so delicious. I'd also like to note the freshness and stickiness of these buds. Push your finger down on one from the top and it will stay stuck to it when you pull your finger back up. This also means the terpene levels and complexity are still very high as well. You might think the trichome coverage is on the lighter side, however, in this case the trichomes will continue to be more and more pronounced as the bud cures further - a testament to its freshness. Pull a tube of this and the first thing you'll notice is the splendid flavor. Its sweet and fruity aroma has been easily passed through to the palate and will leave you salivating for another hit. Do be mindful to keep this highly euphoric and mesmerizingly potent indica for the evening hours, though, as you can face plant pretty hard with over indulgence. Like any classic Blueberry-based indica your fridge will not be safe from midnight munchie raids once you regain consciousness. To add some of this deliciously sweet and funky indica varietal to your coffers just give The Gift Givers a shout ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Purple Runtz - District Firehouse

A more evenly balanced version of Runtz than the Pink Runtz we recently reviewed (which run more indica), these Purple Runtz from DC i-71 delivery aficionados District Firehouse is your true-to-form 50/50 hybrid. A cross of the always delicious Zkittles and the powerful and super purple Gelato #33, this strain packs a delectably potent punch. While this batch is a little longer cured than we would prefer to have our Runtz, you can tell that the genetics used were of a very high caliber given the coloration and aroma. The beefy structure, trichome coverage, and trim also let us know that she was cared for and cultivated at the highest levels. The ultimate test, of course, resides with the effects induced by this sample when smoked and vaped. After a few exhales the headiness and rush of the sativa qualities were abundantly clear, but a few minutes later the indica aspects came on full throttle as I was washed over with an immense body buzz and feeling of light and limberness in my extremities. It's not a great bud for focusing on anything pressing or for keeping to a tight schedule. I did feel a bit discombobulated and a similar head state to the effects of the more pure indicas in my nighttime lineup. Nevertheless, the relaxed state and healing aspects for my ailments were much appreciated, especially with little to no signs of couch-lock. Lately, we've been saving the freshest cut samples for the bong and rolling everything else. Accordingly, we enjoyed this batch most when rolled in a joint and it gave an exotic, connoisseur grade toke that was super smooth, but still provided that enjoyable "choke-up" when pulling too hard. To try out some of these Purple Runtz for yourself hit up District Firehouse ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Blood Orange by Alt Sol - Takoma Wellness Center (DC Medical)

While I've had the Blood Orange varietal from Alternative Solutions (Alt Sol) in their "Bunji Bros" cart form, I hadn't had a chance to check out the actual flower yet. Being a huge fan of Tangie and the associated crossbreeds, I was especially psyched when this new batch dropped just in time for 4/20! As a unique and exotic Tangie phenotype herself, Blood Orange is a cross of Cali Orange and Appalachia that runs sativa-heavy. Her aroma is sweet and very citrus forward, but it isn't quite ordinary Orange or Tangerine in essence - hence the need to qualify the "blood" aspect. Compared to regular oranges, blood oranges typically taste less acidic, slightly sweeter, and have hints of strawberry or raspberry. I would say that flavor description is pretty spot on in reference to these buds as well. However, perhaps the most obvious reason to give this special strain its name is the astounding intensity of the red hairs that adorn her. They are, in fact, blood red. It's quite shocking actually. They may be the most red stigmas I've seen on cannabis buds in years. Note that this Blood Orange and our last Alt Sol review are both "buds of the month" for April. That means you can get 1/8ths for just $35! To check out all the awesome craft medical cannabis coming out of DC cultivators Alt Sol just head to your neighborhood DC medical dispensary (most carry their products) or visit Takoma Wellness, which is where we've been getting most of our Alt Sol cuts lately. Of course, to keep up-to-date on their latest drops, stay tuned to Toker's Guide and make sure you're subscribed!

  • Black Pearl - Exotic Organics

Yarrr! Have a look at this mysterious strain, worthy of Captain Jack Sparrow himself. She goes by the name of Black Pearl and she's ready to take you on a fantastic voyage of pure delight. Available from DC i-71 service, Exotic Organics, it's hard to say what the lineage of this designer strain is - it's a secret guarded closely like a pirate's chest. What we can say is that it has some mesmerizing heady effects and, like any good sativa-heavy hybrid, it will make you feel a driving sense of motivation with an active mind for tackling your to do list. Just be careful to partake in her during daylight hours only, lest you be walking the plank all night long. Her aroma screams exotic with a hard to place gassy and piney essence and a hint of lemon. In flavor there's kind of a sweet, skunky, but cake-like mix in your mouth upon exhale. If we had to encapsulate the flavor and aroma in a set of words it would be "funky-pine-cake". It's not fruity enough to keep you from getting scurvy, but it sure pairs well with a mug of grog! With shades of purple so dark they more than justify the name, and golden hairs resembling the lux of any pirate hoard's treasure, we recommend rolling a fat joint of her just to see all the exotic colors coming together in a paper. While the trichomes indicate that this has been cured briefly, the storage, transport, and care were clearly on point and the quality remains intact. This batch definitely didn't spend any time in Davey Jones' locker at the bottom of the sea. No need to raise the skull and crossbones flag and start plundering to get your hands on this pirate's booty, though. Just hit up Exotic Organics ASAP and tell them that Toker's Guide sent you in search of the legendary Black Pearl!

  • Purple Marmalade - Farm To Couch

Check out this boutique local grown Purple Marmalade from DC i-71 service Farm To Couch. Originally a Solfire Gardens creation, it's a cross of one of our all time favs, Tropicana Cookies, and funky flavor phenom Why You Gelly (WYG). It has mostly balanced effects with many uplifting aspects - perfect for kicking off a sunny Spring weekend! The citrus forward intensity of Tropicana Cookies' aroma is something that I can always harken back to when thinking of the varietal. This batch is similar in its capacity to effect olfactory memory, yet the citrus is mellowed by sweet and creamy notes. Far away from the open jar you'll get gassy, skunky tones with a hint of fruit. But, as you walk closer the blend of cream and tangy fruit overtakes and becomes clear. The trichome coverage is excellent here as well. Yet, perhaps the most stunning aspect about these buds visually is their fiery orange-red hairs. In contrast to the deep purples, these stigmas might as well be glowing in the dark. This conjures images of someone, highly stoned, taking one of these buds into a dark room and seeing if the hairs actually DO glow. We can confirm they do not. 😂 With strict adherence to their locally-sourced only policy, Farm To Couch is making it possible for local cultivators to sharpen their craft and we're seeing the results of these efforts in harvests like this Purple Marmalade. To do your part in supporting the local craft cannabis scene hit up Farm To Couch today. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Pink Runtz - District Derp

What could be better on a dreary rainy day in DC than to have some absolutely delicious Pink Runtz by your side? Currently available on the gift menu from DC i-71 delivery service District Derp, we love this batch for the funky skunky, but somehow fruity, flavor that makes you want to rip it again and again. There's some debate about whether this rare and designer strain is a cross of Zkittles and Gelato, or Rainbow Sherbert and Pink Panties. Personally, I think this version looks a lot more like other Pink Panties crosses I've seen over the years. However, something about the nose is very much like a Gelato. Either way, it's highly complex and exotic in aroma whatever it's lineage. While Runtz is typically said to be very balanced at 50/50 on the indica/sativa ratio, this cut seems to be leaning to the indica side for me, at least in terms of its overtly relaxing nature. Admittedly, It was hard to finish this article, but that could be more attributable to the weather than the bud. Despite it somewhat zapping my energy, I've immensely enjoyed it as a companion for streaming shows while in "horizontal mode" today. So hit up our favorite pup art purveyors, District Derp, and check out some of this Pink Runtz for yourself. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
