- Platinum Glue - Puff Puff DC
This new Platinum Glue from Puff Puff DC is some phenomenal bud! We just keep wanting to smoke more and more of it around here. Known for being one of the strongest smelling strains in the world, this batch's aroma certainly lives up to that reputation. It's hashy, gassy, skunky, but also somehow sweet. Fair warning, people WILL smell this bud. On you. In your house. Down the street. A mile away. It's not a bad problem to have, just be aware. In profile, this strain (also known as Platinum Gorilla Glue) is a highly potent indica dominant cross between Platinum Kush and Gorilla Glue #4 (GG4). The Diesel lineage, present in GG4, is distinctly noticeable in the flavor, which is a mix of coffee, sour, earthy, and....well...diesel. We particularly enjoyed the taste paired with a citrus IPA. When it comes to effects, she can be almost disorienting at first, then cheery and cerebral. You'll be comfortably numb and relaxed, but going out and doing things isn't a huge problem. There are those who have said she helps them with pain and insomnia. She definitely helped me to eat an entire pizza! In appearance, structure, and cure this bud is outstanding. It's fluffy, but not whispy. It's heavily, heavily trichomated with even more clusters than you'd expect to find on an excellent batch of a Gorilla Glue offshoot. She's clearly grown and harvested by pro's - a true connoisseur's delight. We also really liked the awesome anime girl artwork used for the Platinum Glue logo...so we worked her into the shoot as well. If you're going to pick up some gifts for a great, but chill Saturday night, you can't go wrong with the Platinum Glue. We say, go ahead and give the wonderful people over at Puff Puff DC a shout asap before this one runs out!
- Mendo Breath - DC Teapad
Happy Friday everyone! You have to check out this Mendo Breath from DC Teapad. It is straight FIRE. You will not be disappointed. The smell alone is out of this world. It's a very sweet candy-like aroma with lots of vanilla and caramel notes. Simply a wonderful nose and flavor, which is true to form for these guys (see their other reviews here). This strain is a cross of Mendo Montage and OG Kush Breath, the Mendo being the rare and phenomenal genetics making her so unique. She's an indica dominant hybrid and the average potency level is very high in this one my friends. In terms of effects, this batch packs the typical euphoric full body buzz but with a little extra oomph. The sedative effects rush to drag you to the nearest couch where you'll find happy, meditative moments ahead. Throw on some Netflix, but don't pick anything too complex or with a high amount of focus required. As for structure and appearance, the buds are nearly coniferous with numerous crystalline trichomes and lots of blue and purple flecks of color. The cure is perfect and the smoke is just out of this world. Overall, this one is a real treat and we give a BIG thanks to DC Teapad for hooking it up! Give them a shout asap before this one is GONE!
- Blueberry - Green Kings
Check out this old school Blueberry from our friends over at Green Kings. This is a powerful indica that's status is legendary among American cultivators. Its heredity is mysterious, but the strain took home the Cannabis Cup for Best Indica in 2000. This batch is grown to perfection with dense, beefy buds and trichomes galore. The nose is remarkable, with abundant blueberry and vanilla notes. The flavor is true to form in the vape - very fruity blueberry. This is also very apparent when smoked, but note she smokes especially smooth. The buzz is over-powering and euphoric, calm, numb, and introspective all at the same time. Relaxation is a necessity with this one. Go to a movie, read a book, lay on the couch and stare at the ceiling. Then be ready to order take out. Did I mention she's a strong indica? There are those who have said this strain helps them with fatigue, depression, stress, anxiety, and migraines. For those of you connoisseurs out there who are into collecting the old school strains this is definitely one to have. For those who just want a solid indica for post Turkey Day R&R hit up Green Kings asap!
- Lemon Pound Cake - Green Kings
Check out this delicious batch of Lemon Pound Cake from the gentlemen over at Green Kings. We're not sure that this one is perfectly identified, but she's perfectly grown for sure. From a strain perspective it could be a cross of Lemon Cake with something else. It also closely identifies with some Nigerian Haze that I used to come across frequently. Either way, this is a sativa dominant hybrid with some amazingly complex flavor and powerful effects. The aroma is very citrusy with notes of vanilla. In the vape the flavor is an effervescent lemon with bread-like aftertaste. When smoked the lemon is still apparent but the bread comes out more and there are fruity/piny notes. Such a flavorful varietal! Her effects are initially euphoric, then energetic. This is a great strain for morning and daytime as it's much like shot of espresso given the energy provided. Focus and creativity are also prominent so this isn't a chaotic sativa, it's more like a haze. I'm a big fan of hazes and, thus, a big fan of this batch. There are those who say this strain has helped them with stress, depression, nausea, fatigue, and headaches. There was certainly a sense of joy that came with the effects for me. I was inspired to write and I could definitely see artists enjoying this strain to find new ideas and inspirations. At night, you might have some trouble falling asleep with this one, so again...daytime people! If you're into hazy sativa's, lemon flavor, or are looking to get your creative juices flowing, this is a great option. Check out Green Kings asap to add this lovely lady to your collection!
- Cookie Monster - Baked DC
Nom nom nom nom. This batch of Cookie Monster from Baked DC is a magnificent specimen of a tried and true favorite. The strain became popular after winning the Seattle Cannabis Cup in 2014. With parents like OG Kush and Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) it's not hard to see why. Here at the Toker's Guide we are big fans of both strains and many of their offshoots. She's an indica, no qualms about it. She does have some energy and mental clarity to her though. Couch lock wasn't a problem, but usually isn't with the OG based varietals in my experience. If you want to relax, but not be knocked out, this is a solid choice. In terms of the buds, they are quite colorful with varying hues of green and blueish purple. The trichomes are numerous, clustered, and perfectly ripe. The buds are also extremely dense and break up almost like a cookie...nom. When broken up, the aroma resembles a fruity cookie. Perhaps something like a fig newton? If a cookie is just a cookie but a fig newton is fruit and cake then this Cookie Monster is more like fruit and cake (when broken up). Prior to that the cookie smell is notable, with a hint of piney OG scent to it as well. The flavor is quite sweet and cookie-like from the vape. When smoked, the flavor is a bit more exotic and the piney-ness is pulled forward. Overall, an excellent strain to roll in joints and blunts (if you prefer). We prefer it either way and paired with an Old Fashioned cocktail...nom. There are those who have said that this strain is excellent for various types of pain and muscle spasms. She's certainly potent and left me feeling no soreness from a strenuous morning workout. If you're into OG's or GSC's and want to mix it up this is a great cross of the two to have in the old stash box. Hit up Baked DC asap to add her to yours.
- Sour Cherry Pie - DC Teapad
Big thanks to DC Teapad for letting us check out this batch of Sour Cherry Pie! She's a real treat and certainly lives up to her namesake in flavor and effects. As we keep saying, everything we've gotten from these guys has had amazing flavor. For this one, the aroma is sour at first, then hints of cherry begin to appear, and finally there's a cookie-like back. The cookie flavor and more of a tart diesel flavor are noticeable when smoked and even more pronounced in the vape. When it comes to genetics, she's a sativa heavy hybrid with a cross of Grand Daddy Purp (GDP) and Durban Poison on one side, and the infamous Sour Diesel on the other. The diesel effects are definitely apparent, but the body buzz that sets in nicely can probably be most attributed to the GDP. You'll want to save this one for the morning or daytime though as it does come with some coffee like drive and energy. In structure, the buds are quite dense with brown hairs and a slight tint of purple. The trichomes are clustered similar to what you might see in an OG cross. The only challenge I would say this batch has is the cure could have been slightly (emphasis on slightly) better. Nevertheless, she's a great smoke and, again, very flavorful! If you're into Sour Diesel, cherry aroma's and flavors (esp. cherry pie), or if you're looking for something make your day more vibrant and energetic, this is the strain for you. Set up a delivery with DC Teapad asap to check this one out for yourself.
- *****Pink Lemonade***** - Green Kings
Welcome to our Weekend Centerfold, Pink Lemonade from Green Kings. This is a magnificent specimen worthy of our Top Shelf label (we don't hand it out to just anyone)! She's indica dominant (80/20) and comes from a cross of Purple Kush and Lemon Skunk with some other super secret genetics. This lady smells unbelievably citrusy, but with some spiciness too. In fact the aroma is much more like a gin and tonic with lime than a pink lemonade. Maybe a pink lemonade with vodka? Flavor wise this batch is SOUR. Through vape it's almost an effervescent flavor. Through joint it's very earthy and sour. Mixing this with some gorilla cookies presented an amazing skunky sour flavor - highly recommended. When it comes to effects, she's a powerful, high potency creation. What begins as euphoric energy slowly wanes creating a dreamy warm blanket-like feeling all around you. The eventual mindset that sets in is interestingly talkative, creative, and relaxing at the same time. Looking at the structure of one of the main colas for this batch it's obvious that this was impeccably grown. The shear amount of trichomes in fuzzy, starry clusters makes you want to take numerous photos just to send to your friends. While there's definitely a hazy pink tinge on the outside, when you break her open the light purplish-pink center almost takes you by surprise. Perfectly cultivated and curated in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and get over to Green Kings asap and add this must have to your collection before she's gone!
- Original OG Kush - DC Teapad
I'm a big fan of OG Kush, and I really enjoyed this latest batch of Original OG Kush from DC Teapad. As usual the aroma and flavor were amazing (as with pretty much every batch from these guys), but this one made me want to make up a new combo word in order to properly describe it: lemonpineyskunktastic. She's most likely from Chemdawg and Hindu Kush lineage, a cross that has been the centerpiece of numerous West Coast strains, but the myth of the Original O.G. is a long and intriguing tale. There are those who say that the closest you can get to the original OG (which stands for Ocean Grown by the way, not Original Gangster as some would have you believe) is via either Ghost O.G. or San Fernando Valley O.G. To me this seems a lot like the S.F.V. OG, but there's definitely something else that's adding the skunkier smell - at least in my mind...errr nose. Anyhow, let's not split hairs over strain names. Instead, let's enjoy this beauty for what she can do. With some of the highest average THC levels in the word, this SoCal original packs a punch. The typical OG Kush is around 25:75 sativa/indica ratio, however, this one feels much more balanced to us (that's the Toker's Guide consensus anyways). In terms of structure, these buds were not main colas and their form reflects that. That said, the trichome coverage and maturity of calyxes indicate it was excellently cared for and the aroma tells me it was well cured. We'd say this batch is good for pretty much any time of day. Rolled in a joint, it's going to taste extremely piney and skunky. Outside you can probably smell that same joint literally a mile away. In the vape, the lemon flavor came out more at first, then the pine overtook it. In either case, the effects were euphoria, a warm body "glow', and a calm creative headspace. If you're a fan of OG Kush or if you're interested in checking out this strain we recommend scheduling a delivery with DC Teapad asap!
- Purple Punch - Green Kings
Presenting, Purple Punch from Green Kings. This bad girl of indica (80% indica/20% sativa) is a cross of Larry OG and Grand Daddy Purps. She's perfect for a chilly Monday evening. Netflix, blanket, Purple Punch, bingo! In fact, she makes me want to start Indica Mondays. Done. The nose of this batch is spectacular. At first smell you get notes of sweet fruit and cream, but your brain soon makes sense of the fruit and an exotic grape aroma takes over. The flavor is similar to that of a grape soda when vaped - delicious! I also thoroughly enjoyed rolling her in a joint and pairing with prosecco. The effects set in sort of slowly with this strain - what you might call a "creeper". At first you'll feel a bit disoriented, then euphoric, and finally a wave of relaxation. The Grand Daddy Purps tends to be a little more on the energetic side of indicas, so couch lock will be less of an issue, but still a possibility. In terms of structure, these buds are expertly cultivated and really well tended too. The trichomes are a starry/cloudy white to the naked eye, but just the right shade of amber under magnifying glass. The only issue is a slight amount of light burn as seen in on the cola below (a touch of yellow). However, this issue is very minor and likely only seen on my sample bud due to it being the top cola of the plant (closest to the light). Otherwise, a perfect specimen in every way. Overall, she's an absolutely gorgeous indica varietal to add to any connoisseur's collection and I highly recommend scheduling an appointment or delivery with Green Kings asap if you want to add her to yours.
- Do-Si-Dos - DC Teapad
Until last year I never really believed a bud could smell and taste like peanut butter. I'd had several encounters with Do-Si-Dos, but never really got the peanut butter part. Then last August, on a trip to Humboldt County, California, I had the pleasure of trying Peanut Butter Breath. To my surprise, it was incredibly peanut buttery in aroma and flavor. Turns out they had selected and crossed a highly peanut buttery Do-Si-Dos to make it happen. Later I tried that Do-Si-Dos and it was like opening a fresh bag of peanut butter cookies. This batch of Do-Si-Dos from DC Teapad is remarkably similar to that experience. The peanut butter aroma is immediately apparent upon opening the bag, then slowly gives way to combine with sweet cookie-ness. When vaped or smoked these notes remain in the flavor profile and easily make your mouth water with delight. As I mentioned in my last post about these guys, they always have very aromatic and flavorful gifts. This one is no exception. When it comes to effects, those who partake of this flower should be aware that this is a high potency (25%+ THC is common) and very indica heavy strain. That means it's great for night time use and many have said that it works wonders for issues like insomnia, pain, and nausea. Newbies, if you smoke too much of this it's likely you'll end up severely couch-locked. Also, smoking too much of an indica while drinking has been known to give people "the spins". Overall, this is a really tasty batch of a great strain. If you're a fan of strong indicas and peanut butter cookies, schedule a gift delivery with DC Teapad soon before this one's gone!
- Blueberry Haze - DC Teapad
The guys over at DC Teapad are one of the first, if not THE first, I-71 compliant delivery services in DC. From the early days they've shown a consistent focus on caliber of gift. One thing I've noticed each and every time is that their gifts always have impeccable flavor. Along these lines, I had to present to my fellow tokers this astoundingly aromatic and flavorful variety in their current gift arsenal. Her name is Blueberry Haze and she smells and tastes absolutely incredible. It's the kind of sweet, succulent, blueberry smell that might make you want to tape the bag to your nose and walk around for a while. Seriously. When vaped, this lady is comparable, if not better, than most fruity flavors you'd experience in a vape cartridge full of terp sauce. The reason for this is, of course, the high terpene levels in this batch. That means it was grown, harvested, and cured with expertise. It also means it's highly potent. My only critique would be that the bud structure was slightly compressed, but this was my fault as it got slightly crushed in the bag in transit. For the newbies, if you get cannabis and it seems compressed, crushed, or stuck together, it doesn't mean that what you have is inferior. It could simply mean that someone took extra care in packaging it (think vacuum sealed bags) from the source because its smell was so pungent. It could also mean that it got crushed in transit accidentally. In terms of effects, this batch is wonderfully creative, energizing, and euphoric. I'm a big fan of the traditional hazes and this cross of Secret Haze and Blueberry satisfies those seeking the cerebral effects of a haze, but also packs the body buzz of a solid indica. After all, it's only slightly sativa leaning (60% / 40%). For me, this strain works really well on early morning digestive pain. If you're a fan of hazes or if you love fruity flower, this batch of Blueberry Haze is sure to impress. Set up a delivery with DC Teapad today to check her out for yourself!
- Fruit Punch - Green Kings
Heads up fellow tokers! Another magnificent new addition to the Green Kings gift line-up is here and she's a super sativa heavy hybrid. Fruit Punch has been around DC in recent memory, but this batch is really well done. With Skunk, Haze, and Northern Lights (obvious from the starry trichomes) heritage this one's got all the smell, taste, and potency you need for a great session. Best to check Fruit Punch out in the day time. Newbies and those less experienced with the sativa side of the spectrum should go gently at first to help avoid any sativa shock. Be sure to put the energy and creativity afforded by this strain to good use. Calling all writers, artists, and musicians - this might be the eliminator of your creative block! At first smell, you're hit with a wave of fresh fruit that is distinctly tropical in nature. No skunkyness in the nose or taste, just overtly sweet and tangy. You might say it's comparable to the flavor of a tropical rum punch. Yum! A great deal of expert attention was clearly paid to the tending and cure of this crop. The freshness is palpable in every way, yet the texture is crisp and brittle. It's the kind of joint rolling situation where you have sticky, starry, delicious crumbles of goodness all over your fingers even though you used a grinder and tried not to touch anything but the paper. This is a GOOD problem to have my friends. For me personally, this strain is a great help with stomach and digestive issues. Best of all, it doesn't lay me out - far from it actually. Others have said that it helps with energy levels and overall mood. We're giving this one our sativa stamp of approval without question. If you're interested we recommend that you schedule an appointment or delivery with Green Kings as soon as possible!
