  • Peach Gelato - The Garden

A couple days ago, my son asked me what I thought his favorite candy was, to which I responded almost instinctively with, “Peach Rings”. After grabbing some peach rings for him at the store later that day I contemplated purchasing some candy for myself as well. However, I was able to turn away from the sugar indulgence by recalling my plan to eat healthy this week. Hours later it was only fitting that this Peach Gelato sample from recreational storefront The Garden DC came floating my way for review. I suppose that it was by passing up one candy treat that I was able to receive this far, far better one in return. 🤗 This Strain packs a heavy hybrid (50/50) punch with the power to both calm you and keep you going - you'll be in a perma-state of euphoric bliss in either case. It soothes the soul at home on the couch and also invigorates mentally wherever you may be. I would recommend it based solely on potency alone, but that’s not where my positive notes about this strain are going to stop. For one, it has flavor written all over it. It's Peach Ringz crossed with Jetlato and the result is a very fruity and funky terp infused flower with gassy fuel tastes and aromas. It seems like everyone is after the mega pungent Gelato-like profiles these days, but in as many delicious fruity combinations as they can find. In this case the berry, earthy, diesel aspects fuse to form something not far from an exotic peach, all to scintillate your olfactory senses and tantalize your tastebuds. If a restful physical state paired with a joyful mind are what you desire to achieve, then Peach Gelato is the one for you. This flower could just as easily help you defeat social anxiety while out running errands as it could help you take a load off while at home streaming movies. It’s not knock you out bud. Its relax and enjoy the day bud. And it's certainly not going to add a gram of sugar or fat to my diet (not directly anyways). The Garden DC is the Place to be with this Peach Gelato flower in stock and ready for your smoking pleasure. Who knows, you may even run into the Toker's Guide crew while you're there!

  • London Cake - Top Level DC

When we talk about cannabis being “purple,” we don’t always mean the same thing. Sometimes, cannabis is a dark green shade that almost borders on purple. Other times, green buds have purple highlights or undertones that become apparent when examined under the light. London Cake, from Tenleytown’s recreational (i-71) shop, Top Level, is truly the most PURPLE purple weed I have ever seen in my life. These beautiful buds are so rich in dark, deep purple hues that they are nearly black, like a velvety pinot noir, with only a sparse few orange hairs providing lighter coloration. Held up to the light, the buds show a respectable coating of trichomes. But, like a geode of amethyst, these buds have an inner layer that sparkles and shines with beautiful crystals that elicited an excited and wide-eyed “ooooh!!” from me as I tore off a piece of the flower to grind before smoking. This strain is a treat for the nose as well as the eyes. A sweet and fruity smell mentally transported me to a picnic where the only thing on the menu was dessert. The notes I found most prominent were lemon and vanilla. There was no trace of skunkiness, muskiness, gasiness, or other more acerbic cannabis smells. After grinding, the fruity smell became even more pronounced, reminding me of a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. London Cake is sweet and mild on the nose, with a taste to match. This strain, though lovely, is of mysterious origin. I could not find any other gifters offering it, nor could I find other reviewers writing about it. The genetics are, as far as I can tell, not publicized online. Even databases like Leafly and Wikileaf were silent on "London Cake". There is a strain called London Pound Cake, of course, but photos I have seen of LPC bear little resemblance to the wine-dark flowers I sampled. Perhaps, it results from a highly purple flower like The Purps crossed with LPC? London Cake, whatever its origins, delivers on both the body and head high. I enjoyed a small joint the day after a wild party as I lounged in bed nursing a powerful hangover. By the time I had finished smoking, I was happy to notice that my headache was gone and my nausea had abated. I felt relaxed, mellow, and happy as I settled into the couch to enjoy some much-needed rest. Although this strain brought on relaxation and restfulness, it did not make me sleepy or foggy. Instead, I felt a balanced whole-body generalized sense of well-being. For pain, stress, or simple recreational use, London Cake has got the goods. To try this mysterious purple gem, stop by Top Level DC in Tenleytown, at 3715 Macomb St NW. Your cannabis will be gifted for free when you purchase an eligible art print and you can also browse and order online, at https://www.dctoplevel.com/shop. • Gelato 41 - The Gift Givers

When I embarked on my usual morning stroll with our new puppy in tow earlier, I toted along with me a magnificent hand-rolled mood elevator I like to call a dogwalker. "Dogwalkers" are little joints designed to last just long enough for your dog to handle his business and you to handle yours. Well, on this particular morning, the dogwalker I rolled was of this Gelato 41 from DC recreational delivery crew The Gift Givers and would have been suitable for taking a Great Dane on a 7-mile trek. 😂 Upon arrival, I knew from appearances and aroma that the two large multi-spear tipped nuggets within the sample pack would be quite powerful. The gassy, earthy aroma had tangy citrus and minty fragrances as well. The deep dark buds grind into a rather regal appearing purple blend that contrasts with the lightness of my new pack of jumbo rolling papers, and is almost photogenic in how delightful it looks before you roll it up. The trichomes could be seen throughout the freshly ground material, and it was easy to see why this strain routinely tests well over 20% THC. Once I sparked it the flavor came pouring through. I noticed a minty-ness and sour notes, especially in the aftertaste, and this flavor profile was consistent throughout the smoke session, or walk as the case may be. Of course, given the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies and Sunset Sherbet in the lineage, the deliciously complex flavor should come as no surprise. Super relaxed, stoney, and still eager to keep meandering, both on my walk and in my head, me and the little pooch kept going long after the dogwalker had run its course. It was a warm and fuzzy euphoria combined with a very active and meditative headspace that made the entire experience delightful. Maybe morning walks with the dog aren't supposed to last 2 and a half hours, but mine did, and I came back to the house feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my day all thanks to this slightly sativa-dominant hybrid. To roll some highly potent dogwalkers for your own morning voyages just hit up The Gift Givers today and grab some of their fine Gelato 41. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Purple Pineapple Express - The Treehouse DC

When a strong, persistent flow of warm, moist air from the Polar Jet Stream gathers off the coast of Hawaii before traveling across the Pacific to North America’s West coast, the resulting “atmospheric river” is known as the Pineapple Express. This weather pattern ultimately brings heavy rain, and heavy rain can make for heavy crop yields. Perhaps this is why UK cannabis seed producers G13 Labs named their most famous creation after said meteorological phenomenon when they first grew Pineapple Express back in 2003. Now, more than a decade after Seth Rogen and James Franco made the strain a household name, the iconic Pineapple Express has been crossed with The Purps to produce Purple Pineapple Express, a sativa dominant hybrid now available from DC recreational storefront The Treehouse. This batch is lovely to look at - its soft, dark, dense nugs are a collage of rich greens, with faint streaks of purple adding depth beneath a highlight of white trichomes. A tropical summer smell might have been expected from the “pineapple” name, but upon opening my bag and taking a deep breath, the scents that greeted me reminded me more of autumn. The earthy and slightly fruity scent transported me back in time, reminding me of the long walks I used to take as a teenager in the Ohio forests where I grew up. After school, I would stroll off with my iPod Mini and a couple of joints of whatever schwag I could get my hands on back then. Although Purple Pineapple Express is of a significantly higher quality than anything I had in the mid 2000s, the smell still brought on a rapturous nostalgia. On the inhale, this sample had a mild taste and a smooth smoke. It did not take long for the effects to become apparent. The body high was relaxing and provided some relief from the light back pain I sometimes deal with, but without any sense of sleepiness or couch-lock. The head high was bright, perky, and fun - I found myself giggling at everything and enjoying a happy-go-lucky disposition throughout the day. Although this is an excellent daytime strain, I would not recommend it before work. While some sativas can be useful for focus, I found myself more easily distracted than normal as my mind wandered off into daydreams. For someone more artistically inclined than myself, I could see this strain providing a fresh burst of creative energy. Those who deal with depression or anxiety may find that Purple Pineapple Express can bring welcome relief from ruminatory negative thought-loops as well. To check out this Purple Pineapple Express for yourself just head to The Treehouse DC today (located at 1922 I St. NW). Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Day Day - Flower Ave

Named for his character on the stoner favorite Next Friday movie, this Day Day strain was launched about a year ago (Oct 2021) by Mike Epps in collaboration with the Cookies brand. Currently available at DC recreational delivery service, Flower Ave, this cross of Rainbow Sherbet and Pink Panties has been specifically selected and back crossed to create a phenotype with highly balanced effects and zero couch-lock. As the name implies, it's great for daytime use. The buds in our sample were remarkably fat and covered with both starry and white trichomes. The aroma alone was enough to indicate the Cookies genetics in the lineage with hues of shortbread, sugar, and a skunky/savory finish. In a big joint the flavor had my mouth watering immediately and each time it came back to me in the rotation as well. Of course, as the cottonmouth settled in, the extra salivation turned out to helpful in keeping my lips, tongue, and the inside of my cheeks from glueing themselves together. With THC levels averaging around 28%, the power of the strain itself shouldn't be second guessed and, remarkably, it is known for creating a feeling of levitation. This batch is certainly a prime example and idyllic specimen that has been grown to near perfection too, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was pushing even higher in terms of potency levels. In fact, its strength was making such an impression that after pulling a large tube and choking up a bit my colleague jokingly said, "See you Next Friday!" 😂🤤 To catch some relaxing euphoric vibes, get super baked without feeling sedated, and make every day feel like Friday, just hit up Flower Ave and grab some Day Day today. • Bankroll Silky - Exotic Organics

This Bankroll Silky, currently available from DC recreational (i-71) delivery crew Exotic Organics is some super sexy bud that you're gonna want to have in your stack for this weekend. It's so good in fact that they've decided the pack art is worthy of their own "Silky" rendition of a C-Note. 💰 It rolls so nice with a soft texture and gritty kief that will end up covering everything within a few inches of where you broke it up. I'm sure you've heard people joke that something with too much of something on it is actually made of the second thing. For example, if you completely cover your hot fudge sundae with hot fudge someone might say, "Hey do you want a little ice cream with that hot fudge?" In this case, I think you could joke about these buds in a similar manner, like, "Hey do you want a little bud with those trichomes?" 😂🤦‍♂️ It's aroma is mega loud with an exotic and delicious stankyness that blankets your home and wants to let its presence known to everyone around you. It's hard to place what it is besides sweet, creamy, gassy, and skunky. My friend said he could see how it kind of had the scent of money, but that's a stretch. It most definitely had strong gelato hues to it, but there was something even more smooth and, shall we say, silky about it too. Too bad its genetics are a mystery, aside from being a Mount Burnin Farms bred Gelato crossbreed that is. In effects, you could certainly call it "money" with an astoundingly potent head rush and full body feels for long durations. The aforementioned glorious, brilliant trichomes are accountable for this potency given their staggering numbers and there are intensely high terp levels obviously at work here too. Overall, I found it to be a relatively balanced hybrid with, perhaps, more indica tendencies. If you want to get your hands on some of this "newly minted" designer exotic cannabis (truly some of the best available on the market today) just hit up Exotic Organics on the double before this one is...spent. • Perfect Pair - Elevated Lounge

I'd be remise if I didn't make you all aware of some fire that's still available over at DC recreational storefront Elevated Lounge. It's a Clearwater Genetics and Tiki Madman Collaboration called Perfect Pair and is the result of crossing Smarties and Devil Driver (Sundae Driver x Melonaid) strains. I like to call it perfecto!👌 With Smarties running slightly indica and Devil Driver running much more on the sativa end of the spectrum, Perfect Pair seems balanced with a slight skew toward a more energetic sativa mindset. What strikes me most about this strain is the absolute avalanche of trichomes that it possesses along with a subtilely sweet, fruity aroma and flavor profile that is remarkably Pear-like (even though the spelling is, of course, "Pair"). I like this intelligent play on words that signifies both the ideal match of inputs and deliciously exotic flavor. I hear they are running out fast, but if you hurry to Elevated Lounge right now you can still catch this elusive creation for your own coffers. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Bubblegum Cherries - Lucky Chuckie

This Bubblegum Cherries from DC recreational delivery service Lucky Chuckie is refined and connoisseur-like in every way and has bag appeal for days. It's noted as a balanced hybrid, but there was a little bit more energetic nature to the buzz than what "balanced" means to me. In fact, you might even say it made me a little...bubbly. 🫧 While the lineage is shrouded in mystery, the Toker's Guide team is now betting it's Lemon Cherry Gelato crossed with old school Bubblegum. Both of these strains are highly fragrant and fruity in their flavor profiles and it's easy to see how the combo would result in an exotic spin on already delicious (and obvious) Gelato underpinnings. This fine example of premium flower was clearly grown and harvested at its peak of perfection. No skimping was done on the dry and cure process either and the buds were soft and supple to break up with beautiful white trichomes everywhere. In effects, this one is ultra-potent and I found it to be a wonderfully uplifting experience that seemed to go on for hours. When an old friend called I was eager, positive, and able to re-connect with them in a way that was seemingly warmer and more jolly that it might have been otherwise - a testament to the social aspects of the strain's high. What an amazing moment to have been accentuated (on my end) by this wonderful herb which I now hold in very high regard within my rolodex of great weed moments. So, to brighten your day and positively infuse your mood grab a bag of this delectable designer herb for yourself from Lucky Chuckie. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Georgetown Pressure by Terp Lords & The Wizard of Za - MASC

According to the Urban Dictionary "pressure" is "that bomb ass weed" or "weed that will make you suffocate". After taking a peek at this Georgetown Pressure, currently available from DC recreational storefront Metropolitan Art & Sculpture Collaboration (aka MASC), I have to agree with the first portion of the definition. This is some pretty incredible tree. But, in no way does it make me feel as though I may suffocate. In fact, i'd say it's quite the opposite - it makes me feel full of life and energy. With a mesmerizing heady high that starts up top and subsequently begins to reverberate around your whole body, this is extremely potent and reviving in nature. 🤩 Grown locally by Terp Lords & Wizard of Za (IG: @terplordsofficial & @wizardofzaofficial) and a "fan favorite for the past three years", Georgetown Pressure is a slightly sativa-dominant hybrid cross of White Runtz and GG#4 that has been stabilized around a pheno that exhibited the gassiest aroma across 18 specimens. Despite an intimidating appearance and aroma it has an epically smooth toke regardless of the apparatus. The flavor, much like the aroma, is super gassy and skunky. There's also a sort of mystic spice of some sort that will seem familiar to those who are fans of GG#4. Anyhow, as I've stated before, I'm a huge fan of most Gorilla Glue crossbreeds and the fact that this one is local and so fresh instantly makes it a new favorite for me. I'll be placing it at the front of my stash box for sure. So head to MASC and grab some of this phenomenal Georgetown Pressure for yourself ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Cali Orange - Cannabear

I'm very impressed with this Cali Orange specimen I just received from DC recreational delivery service, Cannabear. With a nose that's skunky and creamy at first, this one's got mega citrus undertones and, in flavor, the orange notes shine through. A pure Cali treat grown right here in DC! The lineage of this strain is shrouded in mystery and still unknown to the general public. However, its stance is roughly 50/50 and the effects are certainly balanced with a skew toward the energetic end of effects in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed it in the daytime, but it's not overly activity provoking. Instead, it brings more of a tranquil, bright-eyed euphoria with heightened awareness and zero drowsiness. It also happens to work wonders for my digestive pains. Perhaps most notable about this batch, aside from the delicious citrus flavor, are the very plentiful and still fresh trichomes covering nearly every millimeter. These become gritty kief in your hands when breaking it up so be sure to grab your grinder and collect the volumes that would other wise fall through the cracks. Definitely take the time to roll a big "j" with this as the main contents too and you won't be disappointed - the flavor is exquisite and the toke is exceptionally smooth. Even though you may not be able to jet away to Cali on a moment's notice, at least now you can head for the West Coast in your mind any time you like with this Cali Orange onboard. Just hit up Cannabear today to grab some for yourself. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Blueberry Skunk - DC Dash

Next up on the chopping block is this Blueberry Skunk strain from DC Dash delivery service. By chopping block, I mean rolling tray, and this is one that’s definitely great to roll for a multitude of reasons, starting with the fact that the rolling process released an entire blueberry patch into my man cave (aka garage). Yes, my "macho" workspace was being taken over by a fruity fragrance that had me looking over my shoulder to make sure there wasn’t a local black bear looking for an afternoon snack. 🐻 This Blueberry Skunk was living up to its name immediately upon opening the bag and right up through the exhale of this fat joint. What starts as a blueberry taste with earthiness in the mouth ends up making everything smell like a skunk on the roam. That skunkiness is also left to resonate on my tongue along with spicy pepper notes. It's amazingly complex, exotic, and delectable on my palate, which makes me think that high rollers may want to consider using this variety in cannagar production. In effects, this 80/20 indica-dominant hybrid cross of legendary Blueberry and Skunk #1 easily puts me in super-duper chill mode with a euphoric body buzz. Of course, this was perfect timing because I had nothing else to do for the rest of my day off. What a wondrous combination of laziness and reward for what has been a productive week so far! Great for all my aches and pains this batch, obviously, had some drowsiness associated with it, so may be best for most to partake in its splendor at night. Sure to send you off on a tension free and mellow joyride whenever you need, you can find this Blueberry Skunk at DC Dash. Hit them up today and don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!

  • Apple Tartz - Elevated Lounge

This Apple Tartz from DC recreational storefront Elevated Lounge has an intense flavor and aroma with effects that are just as powerful. As the name implies, its fragrance and flavor are dominated by notes of apple and caramel. Many users have even reported tasting hints of cookie dough and apple flavored breakfast cereals as well. Of course, this should come as no surprise given that the strain gets nearly 50% of its lineage from the now world-famous Cookies family. An indica-dominant hybrid cross of Apple Fritter - also intensely aromatic - and the always delicious Runtz, this strain was originally bred by Clearwater Genetics and runs something like 60/40 on the indica/sativa spectrum. Packed with terpenes, Apple Tartz has been found to contain B-Caryophyllene, Farnesene, Linalool, Limonene, and A-Humulene during laboratory testing according to my online research. It's the blending of these terpenes that create the complex flavors your mouth discovers when toking or vaping. In this case, the fruitiness of Limonene is melding with the cinnamon-like notes from the B-Caryophyllene to create the fruity, spicy apple-pie-like flavor. Additionally, Farnesene is commonly known for being present in green apples and expresses as citrus and woody, which I'm sure contributes to the complexity. The high felt from this great herb was both euphoric and up-lifting. I had two sessions across the day and was able to be in a state of bliss while knocking out some needed household tasks. I must say, I had quite the blast blaring reggae tunes while washing my wife’s car. Yet, I also had a great time reading quietly on my patio too. Ultimately, I'd call this a potent, extremely pungent, and highly versatile batch that I'm happy to roll up almost any time of day. To grab some top shelf cannabis at its best, like this Apple Tartz and their many other excellent flower options, just head to Elevated Lounge ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
